Api""Updater.
・Ver.7.0.0

Dynabook Satellite K21
・WindowsXP SP2
・Acrobat Standard 7

Dynabook

You won't be able to install your original Acrobat 7 at all, or use your original serial number. The server which used to allow this was switched off.
But assuming you have a compatible system, like Mac OS 5 or Windows XP, licensed users of Acrobat 7 can download a replacement and get a replacement serial number.

  • Acrobat 7.0: how to download critical updates after reinstall?

We have a legal version of Acrobat 7, version 7.0.0, bought and downloaded via the Adobe website.
I still do have the original installer and did use it to reinstall Acrobat after a software crash. But there have been a few critical security updates in the past, which updated Acrobat to version 7.0.11 or 7.11 or so (I don't remember exactly). These updates were handled automatically from within Acrobat at that time via its auto-updater. However, today that auto-updater does not find these updates anymore. Nor are they available from my account at the download-section on the Adobe website (where the original installer still is available, but that one I already have).
So the question is: where do I find these critical security updates to Acrobat 7.0.0? And how do I download and save them locally for future reinstallations?
Upgrading to Acrobat 10 (or whatever) is no option, since this computer is too old and too slow. So I want to stay with Acrobat 7.x.x, but I would like to update it to its last stable state.
    Thanks.
    Geert

This is exactly what I was looking for, thanks.
What would be the best way to install these updates, in order to get all corrections? Take the last cumulative update (7.1.0 if I am correct? Or is it 7.05, this is not totally clear), and then install all remaining incrementals one by one? Should I restart the computer after each update, or just do them in one big shot?
By the way, I am using Windows indeed on this computer (Windows 2000, English).
    Thanks a lot,
    Geert

  • Acrobat Pro 7.0.8 won't update

I cannot update Acrobat Pro 7.0.8 in Mac OSX 10.5.8 on PowerMac7,3 (PowerPC G5 dual 2.0 Ghz)
Finder and Get Info windows clearly show v.7.0.8 installed,
    as does Acrobat startup pane,
but when I open updater AcroProUpd709_all.dmg and try to install,
I get error message "An invalid application was selected"
I have double checked to make sure I'm selecting the Acrobat Pro 7 application folder.
Adobe updater hangs up, so I need to install updates manually for v.7.0.9 - 7.1.4

But Acrobat Pro 7 is already updated to v.7.0.8, and AISB when I try to manually run the 7.0.9 updater I get error message "An invalid application was selected", even though I have definitely selected the Adobe Acrobat Pro 7 folder in my Application folder.

  • Acrobat XI installed and runs but cannot update or register?

Acrobat XI installed and runs but cannot update or register? typical fixes don't work or apply. Seems to be a very peculiar situation. Any thoughts?

    Anubha,
If I open acrobat 11.0 and click on Help before I open a file, there is no choice of Product Registration.
If I open a file, and click on Help, there is a choice for Product Registration, but it is transparent and cannot be selected.
If I close that file but keep Acrobat open, a large dialogue box will pop-up asking me to register, and when I proceed, and after about 2-3 minutes, I receive another pop-up saying to check my connection and retry. I can
retry over and stay in this loop. But when I close the registration pop-up and go back to Acrobat, the Product Registration selection under Help is no longer transparent, and I can select it. But when I do the Registration dialogue box returns, and when I proceed, I get the same no connection-retry pop-up and the loop continues.
In fact, I have done just now, what I describe in the sentence above, in the time between what I typed above and what I am typing now in my open browser window.
If I click on Help and select Adobe Help, a new tab opens in my browser showing Acrobat's Help page, as it did, just before I typed this sentence.
If I click on Help and select Online Support, and then select Knowledge Base, it takes me to a new tab in my browser which is the same web page as I get when I press F1.
I have selected 'Repair Acrobat Installation' from the Help menu twice and gone through the process with no change in outcome.
If I click on Help and select Check for Updates, it seems to be updating, then stops the process, and I get the Registration pop-up, and the same thing.
    This seems entirely bizarre.
    What do you think?
    Michael

  • Acrobat XI binder no longer works after update 11.0.09 whines about Flash

Just since this recent update, four different computers cannot open a pdf  binder.
It there a way to back up to previous version?
As a precausion, I redownloaded flash player, and reinstalled.
    Same problem.
Then I did a repair installation of Acrobat XI,
    Still same result.
Please advise, since it appeared on all four computers at the same time, I fear your update has broken something.
Learn more leads to nothing much.
    Please advise.

I guess no else was having a problem.
Rebuilt the binder and all is well.
    sorry for the alarm.
    Just frustrated I guess.

  • Reader &Acrobat CAB for SCUP does not contain update info

The Adobe Reader and Acrobat CAB files for use with SCUP, Patch Manager and WSUS does not contain any pre-requisite information.  It also removes pre-requisite information from Adobe updates that have already been published to a WSUS server - thus halting all Adobe Reader and Acrobat updates.  When is the CAB file going to be updated ?

  • Acrobat 9.0 Pro and Office 2008 updates download but won't install

I hope I'm not alone experiencing the following difficulties installing third party patches and updates and that someone who reads this may recognize the problem…and its solution. I've run Adobe Updater (6?) for CS4 Design Standard which includes Acrobat 9.0 Professional, and subsequently, Microsoft Autoupdate for Office 2008 v12.0.1, but find that neither will install the downloaded updates which disappear immediately after an (unsuccessful) installation attempt.
Disk space is not a problem (500GB HD) nor is memory (4GB RAM); I'm using OS 10.6.4 (10F569) which is the most current set of OS updates I can locate. I had successfully been running CS4 with Adobe's most recent patches (e.g. P'Shop 11.0.2 and Acrobat 9.3.3) until the 9.3.4 patch failed to install with the message that +"Safari and Acrobat apps must be closed in order to proceed"+—they were closed as was everything else that wasn't essential according to a check of the Acitivity Window. A grab of the alert panel reads:
+"AcroProUPd934_all Update Failed: The Patch has failed because the application has been modified since it was originally installed (for example, plug-ins may have been disabled). Please go to the Adobe support website for more information regarding how to re-enable disabled components prior to installing the patch, or you can uninstall and reinstall the application, and then reinstall the patch."+
Of course, uninstalling CS4 and reinstalling the entire suite of apps reverts all of them to their original versions, now none of them will accept an update…whether manually downloaded and fed to it or by using Adobe's most recent AutoUpdater. The most consistent message is an alert panel stating that in order to continue, Safari and Acrobat applications must be closed—which they are.
Not surprisingly, after nearly 8 hours on a cell phone with Adobe Tech Support in Delhi, 5 different techs and a manager, the case remains open a week later; it seems +"no one has ever seen or heard of this problem before"+ and an overly apologetic manager could only repeat +"it's [Adobe] policy to remove all copies of CS4 from existence once CS5 is introduced."+ While we waited for 500MB of updates to download more than once, a helpful tech suggested I'd have more luck finding a used copy of CS4 on the net than getting a link to another download from Adobe.
With regard to Microsoft Office 2008, I'd been running v12.0.1 and the MS Autoupdate app has tried to download and install v12.1.0 (and those which follow) but when installation is attempted, an alert panel reads:
+"There is a problem with the Office database. Office might be unable to access the data base or the database file might be damaged. Without the database, you might be unable to use the Address Book, Scrapbook, and other features that store your personal information. To rebuild the database, Open Microsoft Office 2008/Office, and then open the Microsoft Database Utility. For more information, open the Database Utility application, and on the Help menu, click Database Utility Help."+
All attempts to rebuild the database fail, noting…
+ERROR: Failed to open database [Head]+
    +ERROR: Corruption opening database [16003:""]+
    ======================
    +Scan Ended+
    ====================
Two hours on the phone with a relentlessly pleasant Nova Scotian tech for Microsoft revealed little but the suggestion that +"the app doesn't seem to be able to recognize your hard drive. I've never seen this problem before."+
With luck, perhaps someone reading this far recognizes the issue and can offer a solution? It will be gratefully received! Thanks,
    David

Disk space is not a problem (500GB HD)
How much space is available out of the 500GB?
Have you tried any of the following:
Disconnect all peripherals from your computer. Boot from your install disc & run _*Repair Disk*_ from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
    Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
    Select *Disk Utility.*
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click *First Aid.*
    Click _*Repair Disk.*_
    Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751 and try the installations again.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Freezes when combining documents since update to 9.5.5

Having previously used Adobe Acrobat 9 (version 9.2.0) faultlessly to combine documents into a single PDF I now find that since an update to 9.5.5 the program starts the combining process, then pops up a dialogue box requesting a file name and then freezes at the end of the converting process of the first document. I have tried ignoring the request for a filename (whch never used to come up until the combine process was complete with 9.2.0) but the result is exactly the same. I have to cancel the process and as it just sits there doing nothing. Any suggestions most welcome.

I am using the 'combine' option from the menu and then selecting the 'merge files into pdf'.
This is the way I have always done this and it has never caused a problem before. The documents are Word and Excel documents none of which are password protected.
This problem has only persisted since the software upgraded to version 9.5.5.

Until I ran the most recent update to Acrobat 9, it was happy. It won't let me uninstall that update, so I need help getting this sorted out. Hope you can help. Thanks.

Okay, I went to the Dell site, which tried to give me an older driver for the wrong model video card, so I went to the AMD site, which correctly identified my card and gave me the correct newer driver. Installed it, restarted the computer for good measure, and I am getting the exact same problem I had before. At least it's reproduceable. I guess that's better that only doing it sometimes, but it sure is frustrating. I'm working hard at getting nowhere, but I appreciate your advice and support. Thanks.
