Acroexch error in Word 2010 x64

Hello,
I had this error with a user yesterday inside her Microsoft Word 2010 x64: "The program used to create this object is AcroExch. That program is not installed on your computer. To edit this object, you must install a program that can open the object". She basically was trying to insert a PDF document inside word and show the file has an icon.
I tried a bunch of things to try and fix this problem, upgraded Adobe Reader X to the latest version (10.1.1), downgraded it to version 9, repaired the office installation, disabled the Adobe Acrobat protected mode, logged on my own profile on her computer, nothing would work.
I finally was able to find her a workaround which was basically to create an empty adobe PDF document/icon inside her word and then import the document from there, that worked but it shouldn't be the way to do this. Anybody got any idea of what the next step would or what I should try?
Thanks!

i found this happened too on my user.
i'm using :
1. Microsoft Office 2010 x64
2. Adobe Acrobat 10 Standard
I read some articles said that you need to disable the "Enable protection bla bla bla" which is disabled on AA 10 Standard by default.
At last it's solved after i uninstall the x64 Office 2010 and install the x86 Office 2010.
I don't know why but its works.
Hope its works to you too.
Regards,

  • Acroexch error in Word 2010 x64 with Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.5

Hello, i get this error when im trying to insert a PDF into a word doument.
In Adobe Reader X it was the Protect Mode but in Acrobat Standard in don't have this Option.
    Any ideas please?
    Thanks!

    Dear David,
    thanks for the Answers.
The Problem has our General Manager.
I will try to explain the Problem a little bit better.
Our General Manager had a Windwos 7 32bit with Word 32bit and Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.5. When he inserted a PDF with Drag & Drop in Word all works fine.
Since he have a Windws7 64bit with Word 64bit and Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.5 he get a Acroexch error. I tried it on my Workstation and had the same error. Yesterday i tried it again on a Windws7 32bit with Word 32bit with Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.5 and it worked.
If i try to insert the PDF as a Object it works on both Systems. I saw now that Adobe Acrobat is a 32bit Version. Is there a 64bit version for Adobe Acrobat 9.5?
    Best regards

  • Smartview 11.1.2.1 and Office 2010 on Citrix error closing word 2010

I have installed Hyperion Smartview 11.1.2.1.0 on a Windows 2008 R2 terminal server (with citrix xenapp 6) with Office 2010 (32 bits).
when i launch Microsoft word 2010 and close it i get the following error: Word cannot save this file because it is already open elsewhere (normal).
does anyone have an idea what this could be? when i disable the smartview add-in i dont get the error.
I use Roaming Profiles for the users.

Smart View and Citrix is a quirky combination. I've observed other strange behaviors in Smart View when using it on Citrix.

  • Word 2010 "An error occured and this feature is no longer functioning properly" after sequencing in App-V 4.6 SP3

    Hi all,
I've got a very frustrating one at the moment - I'm trying to sequence Office 2010 Pro Plus, and am having real issues with word throwing the error above. I've tried sequencing both 'manually' using the guidance
here and also using the available Package Accelerator and get exactly the same problem using either method. On launch of Word 2010 in the 'Streaming' phase I throws the aforementioned
    error. I have read
this post and have seen that Office must be installed to a unique location in the sequencing drive - I am using 'A:\Office 2010 Professional Plus'. I'm using App-V 4.6 SP3 (for RDS), but I've tried with the SP1 and SP2 sequencer to see if that made a difference
    which it didn't.
If anyone has any suggestions for anything to try I'd be very grateful.
    Many Thanks,
    James

Hi Steve, thanks for your reply.
    On the sequencer I used the following flags as two separate commands when installing manually and combined as one when using the Accelerator Package as recommended;
    Licensing Flags: PROPLUS=1 VISIOPRO=1 PROJECTPRO=1 SPD=1
    Virtual Proxies: ADDDEFAULT=Click2runOneNoteProxy,Click2runOutlookProxies,Click2runWDSProxy,Click2runOWSSuppProxies PACKAGEGUID={F453A898-EFDC-40E2-8C64-C2FD7AA4D4E9} PACKAGEVERSION=14.0.4763.1000 OUTLOOKNAME="Microsoft Outlook 2010" ONENOTENAME="Microsoft
OneNote 2010" MAPISERVER="Microsoft Virtual Office Simple Mapi Proxy Server" VIRTUALSEARCHHOST="Search MAPI Protocol Handler Host" MLCFG32CPL="Virtual Mail Control Panel Applet" OWSSUPPServer="Microsoft SharePoint Client Support Manager"
I haven't even got as far as the client yet unfortunately as I'm getting this error before I even leave the Sequencing environment!
And Nicke, thank you also for your comment. I have tried on a new sequencing VM and get exactly the same results. I haven't quite followed your guide to the letter (Haven't installed some of the software you do) but I have followed the App-V Sequencing Guide
from Microsoft and I must say I haven't had any issues with any other applications I've sequenced so far.
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
According to your post, an error occurred when you used the custom Documents Library(List Definition using sandbox solution).
Please check whether you have removed <ContentTypeRef/> in the <ContentTypes/> tag of Schema.xml file in your project.
Here is a sample about list definition deployed as a sandbox solution, you can take a look at:

  • BootCamp 5.0 error on 13" MacBook Pro Mid-2010: "Installation Error. Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model"

Installing Boot Camp 5.0.5033 (downloadable at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638) on Windows 8 x64 on 13” MacBook Pro Mid-2010 using BootCamp\setup.exe, I get the following message: “Installation Error. Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model”.
According to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634, Windows 8 x64 is not supported by Boot Camp 5 on 13” MacBook Pro Mid-2010 .
Previous version, Boot Camp 4.0, causes bluescreens on Windows 8 (https://discussions.apple.com/message/20131524#20131524).
Fortunately, it might be still possible to employ updated Boot Camp by launching “msiexec /i BootCamp.msi” from BootCamp\Drivers\Apple folder using administrative command prompt (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc947813%28v=WS.10%29.aspx).
However, new Boot Camp 5.0.5033 does not contain all the drivers for 13” MacBook Pro Mid-2010. E.g. driver for NVIDIA nForce System Management Controller (labeled Other devices/Coprocessor in Control Panel) and NVIDIA nForce PCI Systems Management (labeled Other devices/SM Bus Controller in Control Panel) must be obtained at Drivers\NVidia\NVidiaChipset64 in older Boot Camp 4.0 (downloadable at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1634)
According to Microsoft (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/system-requirements), the MacBook Pro config (Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM) exceeds Windows 8 x64 hardware requirements. Windows Experience Index for this laptop is approx. 5.1 (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/what-windows-experience-index).
Does anybody know, is there any technical reason why Windows 8 x64 is not supported by Boot Camp 5 on 13” MBP Mid-2010?
Is there a specific hardware/firmware deficiency in this MacBook model, incompatible with Win8? Maybe NVIDIA refused to provide Win8-compatible drivers for its chipset components (GeForce 320M graphics card though is still supported by latest notebook drivers available at www.geforce.com)?

Thanks for the detailed explanation! If MacBook supports AHCI/SATA only in native “UEFI mode”, while reverting back to PATA/IDE in legacy “BIOS mode”, then it could make perfect sense to use UEFI to make sure that technology like Native Command Queuing (NCQ) is employed, as it may give noticeable performance improvements for certain operations: www.happysysadm.com/2012/12/intel-g530-nas-performance-part-3.html. I wonder how do you get Windows 8 x64 with EFI bootloader installed on MacBook?
Simply choosing EFI Boot (“Some EFI platforms support both UEFI and BIOS firmware. On some of those systems, it is not always clear if the default DVD boot option is an EFI or BIOS boot option. On these systems, using the EFI shell command may be required. If you do not specifically start Windows Setup by using the EFI boot entry, the default firmware boot entry for BIOS may be used. If Windows Setup starts in BIOS mode on a combined EFI/BIOS system, the ESP and MSR partitions are not created.”) from Win8 x64 DVD when installing on blank HDD would yield “The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed" message. Also, if the hard drive was not in SATA mode during Windows installation, registry tweaking may be required before switching from PATA to SATA. Do you do registry tweaking and EFI bootloader configuration manually after a copy of Windows was installed in its dedicated partition in a regular way?

  • When opening .doc from website link, FF appends .docx extention to file & does not open in Word 2010, with incorrect file format error. Pls Help

I'm using Firefox v12 to open a hyperlink from a website that points to a filename.doc MS Word Document for download.
We are then asked to open the file with MS Word (Default), which our installed version is MS Word 2010.
Firefox then renames the file appending a .docx to the filename e.g filename.doc.docx. MS Word 2010 opens with error 'incorrect file format', which is correct as Firefox has renamed it.
Is there a fix or workaround for this?

    Hello Jscher2000,
I can save the file and it opens fine.
It's when I open it directly, Firefox appends the 'docx' extenstion to the filename.
If I continue to reopen from the web link, Firefox renames the file as so
    mydoc.doc-1.docx
    mydoc.doc-2.docx
    mydoc.doc-3.docx
I can open a .doc from a Microsoft site ok.
I have the feeling it's the way the web server is reporting the mime type to Firefox.
The link in question works fine in Internet Explorer.
    best regards,
    Youngielinux.

  • MS Word 2010 error

    Hi all,
    I have 2 questions :
    1. I have packaged and published MSOffice 2010 as per the Microsoft KB articles and using the below versions of AppV
AppV 4.6 - Management server on Windows server 2008 R2
    AppV 5.0 - Sequencer on Windows server 2008 R2
    AppV 5.0 - Client for RDS o Windows server 2008 R2
Also my end user client is a citrix published desktop, also a Windows server 2008 R2
The applications all run well, except for one error in Word :
    Microsoft Word 14.0
"An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Please run Setup and select "Repair..." to restore this application".
And then word opens fine, the product license is also activated - just cannot get rid of this error. Please suggest.
    Same thing happens
    2. Even though MSOffice 2010 is not physically installed on the server, all the word applications and other MS apps open with 2010 (from Desktop->New)even though 2007 is installed on the server physically. I wanted the default to point to 2007, how can this
    be achieved?
From Start Menu, I can select Microsoft word 2007 and open the document, and it opens without any error.
And how come the MS doc 2010 opens even when I have shut down the publishing and management server - is it from OSD cache?
Pls help. I know its too lengthy questions, but I have been raving through forums, with no luck :(
    Cheers,
    kshru

Firstly, you are a little all over the board here. You use an App-V 4.6 Management Server (really 4.5) to deploy your App-V 5.0 sequenced application? That's not possible. You may be using App-V 5.0 Client and App-V 4.6 Client together in co-existence mode
but not using the 4.5 Management Server to deploy App-V 5.0 applications. Please confirm your environment, you talk about OSD files which are not in App-V 5.0...they are in 4.6....
I'll go ahead and assume you sequenced using App-V 5.0 and deployed to an App-V 5.0 Client and that you used the prescriptive guide: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2830069/en-us
If you followed the guidelines correctly based on the license type e.g. if you use a KMS Server that doesn't use the default port, you passed this during the sequencing...or you used the MAK guidelines...you ran the ManifestUpdater and included the Sequencing
kits correctly then there's no reason why the package shouldn't work. The package should be good.
    So....based on that, here's what I've got.
    1. ) Did you already have Office on the client machine beforehand? Please ensure the machine is clean (i.e. no Office has been on it before) before proceeding
2.) Did you Enable Scripts on the Client machine?
If you followed the App-V prescriptive guide then you would have leveraged the Scripts folder, correct? The script get's executed during the Add-AppVClientPackage phase on the client. If Scripts are not explicitly allowed, then the licensing info will not
be successfully put on the machine and thus the App-V application will launch with that error.
I have sequenced Office 2010 with App-V 5.0 many times without issue. I suspect you are missing something....

  • MS Word 2010 - Preview Error

In MS Word 2010 when I select a *.docx via the FILE -- OPEN process in the right panel I see an error essage about the file can not previewed because of an error in the Microsoft Word Previewer.  What causes this and can it be corrected
    and how?
    Thanks
    Jim

I have found the cause of this issue, but may need help finding a way to make a surefire fix for it that only affects MS Office (Any MS Office developers out there?)
The Cause: When Word is closed ("Xed out of") it caches system files so that when you reopen the program, it will launch faster. Upon re-launching the cached program, your MS Word Previewer will NOT work. I do not know of any settings within
the program to disable this, nor am I able to contact Microsoft directly with this information to provide a hotfix.
Workaround 1: When you have Word open, you must launch task manager and KILL the "WINWORD.EXE" process. For obvious reasons, terminating the program while it's running is not a great idea. However, this is much faster than rebooting your
computer every time you want to use the previewer.
Workaround 2: Push Windows key+R for a Run prompt. Type in "services.msc" to bring up the system services window. Navigate to "Application Experience" and double-click to open properties.
Stop this service, and change the "Startup type" to "Disabled"
After rebooting your computer, you will notice that Word launches from the ground up, so to speak, each time you use it. This should allow MS Word Previewer to work properly.
The description of the Application Experience service is simply worded: "Processes application compatibility cache requests for applications as they are launched"
The problem with Workaround 2 is that I do not know the other side effects of turning off this service apart from not being able to quick-launch any programs on your computer.
I do not work for Microsoft and these methods are not endorsed by any company. Use at your own risk and always be sure to create backups or restore points before doing anything potentially harmful to your system!
Any and all feedback is always appreciated.

  • Acrobat X & XI add-in Word 2010 32-bit cause macro error messages

When I enable Acrobat COM add-in in Word 2010 32-bit, when I close Word and re-open Word, I receive the following
This dialog screen pops up three consecutive times after I click on "OK" three consecutive instances.
The add-in works great in Outlook 2010, Excel 2010, but not in Word 2010.  I manually installed the Trusted Pulisher Certificate for the add-in the the Trusted Publisher store as shown with no success either.
I went to Word options to the Trust Center and enabled anything pertaining  to macros or scripts and still was NOT successful.  This worked at one time before, prior to Office 2010 updates from Microsoft.  I suspect a Microsoft update may have broken this add-in and may require Adobe to put out an update to fix this.  This worked in January 2013 thru Feb 2013 but now fails with Microsoft Office updates after March 2013.
    Any help would be appreciated!

  • AcroExch Error with Abobe Reader (11.0.03)

I work on a helpdesk, and we keep getting people with the following error while trying to embed PDFs into Word documents. "The program used to create this object is AcroExch. That program is either not installed on your computer or it is not responding. To edit this object, install AcroExch or ensure that any dialog boxes in AcroExch are closed." I tried most of the obvious things to solve this problem (repaired Office and Reader, reverted back to an older version of reader, ran C Cleaner). I also tried some more obscure things like deleting old keys from the resistry manually and things of that nature. I don't know what else to try. There seem to be some fixes for this problem in Adobe Reader X, but based on what I've seen, none of these work in Reader XI. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

I had the same problem! When I try to import a pdf object in word it gave a Package or an AcroExch error, if I'm using the drag and drop method or the insert-object menu, respectively.
    System: Win7 SP1 64bits EN + Office 2010 Professional 64bits EN + Acro Read 11 EN
I did a survey among several computers at my workplace and discovered that only the computers with Win7 64 + Office pro 64 combo have this problem. I removed both Office 64bits and Acro Reader and installed the Office 32bits version. Afterwards reinstalled the Acro Reader (same version). The problem never appeared again. It seams an issue with the 64bits version.
Previously, I also tried the most common solutions found on Internet and none of them solved the problem.
    Hope it helps.
    Cheers.

Wonder if there is a similar solution / upgrade / patch / hotfix or the like for Pro X

    Hi Dave,
Maurice's thread was locked because he is using Office 2010 Beta, and his post is in the forum for Office Beta, since the Beta is past due, the whole forum is locked.
Let's go back to your question.
Have you installed the Office 2010 Service Pack 1? The service pack fixes many issues, you should try if you haven't.
    Download
the Microsoft Office 2010 Service Pack 1 64-bit package now.
I may to metion is that all I know the Office 2010 64-bit will work smoothly with Windows 7 64-bit, cause I'm using it for my daily work.
So, the problem you met with mostly caused by the 3rd-party add-ins/services.
Have you tried to open the document by holding the Ctrl key? This will open the document in safe mode, if you are able to do so, this will help us to narrow down the root cause.
If it will crash even when you start it in safe mode, let's try to run a clean boot to check this issue. In a clean boot, lots of service will be disabled, if we wouldn't get problem in a clean boot, then we can enable the service little by little, then
we can find out which service might cause this issue.
For a detail instruction, you can refer to this kb:

Let me know the result, any questions, feel free to let me know.
