AcroRd32.exe process on Application Server Hanging Up

I run a print job in a reporting system that utilizes Adobe Reader 9.5 for Windows Server 2008. When the job runs, the AcroRd32.exe process hangs up, which prevents me from running anymore print jobs. I cannot end the process via Windows Task Manager, or even a force kill from cmd. I've had this issue for a while and I'm at a loss. I do notice that there is a adobe reader file that is under my common files (created from my print job) that I cannot delete because it says the file is open . I believe this is why the process is hanging up. It's weird because I can't even delete or close it from the server's 'Share and Store Management' because it doesn't show open.
Can anyone help me?
Does Adobe have any tech line I can call to debug? I'll pay.

The first thing I would try is to update to 9.5.5, or 10.1.8, or 11.0.4

Application Server Hanging

Hi All ,
One of my application server is hanging. When I checked the OS monitor of the application server through Tcode st06, I found that the CPU utilization is very high.
There are two process which contributed to most of the CPU utilization .
Now when I checked these process through Tcode Sm50 , I found that these process are currently executing monthly report running in the background.
Please suggest me the approach to prevent application server hanging.

It is very common that most of the customers face performance problems during monthend due to high number of batch jobs taking all system resources.
You may need to look at the available resources and plan for enhancement if required. Schedule batch jobs to off-peak hours and use dedicated servers for batch processing if ur batch job load is high.

Opening PDF spawns multiple AcroRd32.exe processes.

I have a user that when he opens any PDF he'll get 4 AcroRd32.exe process spawned the first time. When that one is closed, 2 of the 4 process end. When another PDF is opened, 2 processes start, but only one ends when the PDF is closed. So after 5 PDFs are opened and closed, 6 AcroRd32.exe processes are still running.
So far all we've done is reinstalled Adobe Reader XI. Anything you guys know on how to fix it?

Numerous Explorer.exe processes run on Server 2012 reboot causing server to hang

I have recently installed Server 2012 as a Domain Controller. AD, DNS and WINS services as well as Hyper-V manager.
I am facing a very strange issue which does not occur every time I reboot the machine (but on most times).
The machine boots to Windows and hangs, I can notice a large number of explorer.exe processes (that start without any user intervention). The server hangs completely and I am unable to kill the processes manually.
I have to restart the server remotely via shutdown /i.
On reboot the server works fine, If i reboot the server by switching off the hardware manually the same issue may occur..
Any idea what might be causing this behaviour?

I would recommend you to check the event logs which generated during the server hangs.
Please also try to set up a Performance Monitor log and let it run for a while. At the very minimum, add the counters for Memory, Process, Processor and System. The length of time that you need to let it run will depend on how long the system
takes to hang (assuming that this is happening repeatedly). Set the interval so that you can capture at least a hundred samples over the life of the log. Any low memory condition should be readily apparent - especially if it is a steady leak.
Finally, follow the steps in
KB Article 244139 to prepare the system to capture a complete memory dump for analysis if needed.

I feel i needed to post this because upon reading the above forums, Many folks seem to be getting this error and trying all things to fix it.
The fix is simple...and I figured it out myself by thinking as I knew from reading this newer adobe 10 was supposed to be more secure.
So I remember something somewhere else in another softare about a protected mode issue.. saw the check and wording and said what the heck lets try that..

Hey! I was also having problems with Adober Reader X. After updating to 10.0.1, I kept getting a message after about two minutes saying Adobe Reader has suddenly stopped and then the program would close. I had the following error message in my event viewer:
"Faulting application AcroRd32.exe, version 10.0.1.434, time stamp 0x4d456f48, faulting module WININET.dll, version 8.0.6001.19019, time stamp 0x4d0c5473, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0002387b, process id 0x102c, application start time 0x01cbf33fb3496067"
I unchecked enable protected mode at startup and so far it works. Thanks!

setup.exe has 3 types of installation modes, namely, express, typical and custom. But the ezsetup doesn't asks these questions. The difference between them are..
Setup.exe - Express - Asks fewer questions like, iAS username password, directory server username, password, product key etc
Setup.exe - Typical - Asks for same questions as of Express setup and few more additional questions and allows you to install iAS and use a directory server which is already installed.
Setup.exe - Custom - The most complicated and the highly interactive installation where it requiress 32-33 inputs from the user and fully customisable.
EzSetup.Exe - Doesn't have any sub option, doesn't allow you to use the existing directory server or web server, all it asks is 2 questions..., which directory to install and the product key.

Production server Databse & Application Server hang

Dear ALlt ,
Yesterday , After whole Offline + redolog Backup finish successfully,
my Database and Application Servers becomes hang. ( Nobody User logn to
the SAP ).
I able to Login telnet , to see the Lnrctl status , is hang.
so ,using sqlpls shut down oracle nortmal, restart the server.
After the Reboot of Database and Application Server System works
Normal.Now I am unable to find out Why the Server becomes hang ?
So avoid this Error in future , Please suggest the solution.
We are running SAP Ecc 6.0 + Oracle 10.2.0.2 + Hp unix 11.23

I have seen such behavior only on windows systems that
have been rarely booted and used offline Backup via DB13
while SAP keeps running. After a while
lsnrctl services
may show an excessive number of comslots in use.
It is new for me that this can happen on Unix as well.
I have customers runnning one offline backup a week, and
in general, on W2K3 you'll get along for one and a half year.
So when you are tight on security fixes, in this amount of
time you generally have a reboot, so no problem occurs.
(But one of my customers is very lazy in this area, we had
two of these hangs at his site. Was with 9.2 and 10.2 of Oracle.)
Btw: on windows it does not help to simply restart the listener.
Allthough the amount of sevice connection drops instantly.
I think it has to be related with the re-connect retries SAP is doing
in offline backup, because system only doing online backups show
a lot less of these used slots.
Did not find anything to fix this since yet. And no, we did not log any
call for this, because noboy wants to wait for support reaction, when
a boot fixes it and it is comming only every 18 months.

-   Schedule your report in RSCRM_BAPI as periodic job based on Event trigger.
-   When scheduling, it will ask for variable which you have in the report. Provide any value. The variable details will be stored in table 'RSCRMBATVAR' with the job name which you have schedule
-   Write a program to read the job name from 'TBTCO' table
-   change the variable value in the 'RSCRMBATVAR' table and trigger the event to execute the job.

HTML file Error while Processing in Application server AL11

Hi Experts,
I have SAP workload data in HTML file and IF i download it using GUI_DOWNLOAD, I am successfully able to access the file.
But Further:
1) I am uploading the above mentioned downloaded file in binary mode.
2) Converting binary to xstring
3) Adding and saving to ZIP folder using class CL_ABAP_ZIP
4) Converting back ZIP file to Binary mode
5) Transferring it to sever path using dataset ( character by character)
But after transfer, I try to access file using T code AL11, there file is created by on opening, it shows HTML tag along with the data i.e formatting error.
How to handle this.

Hi,
Try downloading the file from application server using the transaction CG3Y, while saving the file, save as HTML file.
Still if you find the formatting error, then open the view -> source code of the HTML page, and adjust the space, line space, alignment etc if any, will resolve your issue.

Acrobat.exe process not ending when application closes

This also affected the acrord32.exe process until I uninstalled adobe reader.
I have recently updated to the new 10.1.0 version of Acrobat (think I was running 10.0.1 before), I was not having the issue before upgrading.
I only discovered I had the problem because I tried to delete a PDF file I had just opened. I closed Acrobat, then tried to delete the field, yet it said it was in use. A check in task manager showed acrobat.exe still running. This is most annoying.
I'm running Windows 7 Professional x64 with SP1.
Note: This affected both the Adobe Reader as well as Acrobat X Pro, but doesn't seem to affect any other software.
Please advise of a fix for this, Thanks.

I have just completely removed Acrobat and reinstalled it having cleared all the folders that got left behind.
It installed ok, but now the 10.1 update wont install properly. It hangs at the "creating the adobe pdf printer" part. It eventually carrys on, but I end up with no Adobe PDF printer installed.

Websphere Application Server 5.1 Hangs when using Oracle Connection Pool

I have a j2ee application that runs on WAS 5.1 ( IBM JDK 1.4 ) and Oracle 10g 10.2.0 . My customer is doing load testing with 25 virtual users and a connection pool with a max size of 10. When the test starts all 25 users attempt to get a connection, and the first 10 get a connection. At this point the application server hangs with the connection pool in allocation. This is seen in Tivoli. Each thread only needs one connection to process it's request.
I have my own home grown connection pool which when used under this load does not experience and issue. Monitoring from Oracle's admin console I see a max of 10 sessions. The home grows connection pool does not use a WAS DataSource.
I have configured my application to use DB2 with a WAS DataSource and the application server does not hang. Monitoring using Tivoli shows the connection pool going into allocation, but it recovers as is expected.
Are there any known issues with the Oracle JDBC drivers when used with WAS 5.1 DataSources?
Any direction would be helpful, as I currently thing there is an issue with Oracle's Connection Pool and the IBM JVM.

just an attention call: OracleDatasource connection pool does not accept parameters such as removeAbandoned, minEvictableIdleTimeMillis, timeBetweenEvictionRunsMillis, etc, these are specific for the tomcat dbcp implementation (http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/jndi-resources-howto.html#JDBC_Data_Sources).

When i open reader two AcroRd32.exe*32 processes open and never close even after exiting the reader.

when i open reader two AcroRd32.exe*32 processes open and do not close after closing the reader. i have seen 10 AcroRd31.exe*32 processes open. do I have an undetectable virus or is the software just poorly written and tested. I am running Windows 7 premium that is fully up to date and the reader is up to date also. i have even deleted reader and reinstalled it.
All 8 Processors activity jumps really high while AcroRd.exe*32 is running with no pdf documents open and as soon as i end the processes the processor activity goes down to near 0 according to the performance tab in task manager. My fan also kicks on because of all the heat from the processor.

open acrord32.exe and go to edit, preferences, internet, and then uncheck "Allow fast web view" and "allow speculative downloading in the background". This will save your processor and keep your system from locking up from all of the acrord32.exe processes running.

Invoke external application thru oracle application server 904

Hi all,
We are trying to invoke an external exe (WordAPI.exe) through Oracle Application Server 9.0.4 installed on Windows 2003/XP
This exe reads the text file and fills the data in specific word document and sends the same to the printer. The data is filled in the document w.r.t. the bookmarks added in it.
The problem is windows task manager shows both processes WordAPI.exe and winword.exe started but it does not send anything for printing.
The same is happening when we try to invoke notepad.exe or wordpad.exe
The feature when executed in Jdeveloper gives perfect results.
Also we tried using same feature in another app server and there also we got required results.
If anyone has come across any such problem and was successful in getting it thru, please suggest.

we have a similar effect, when start winword from FORMS / ORA_FFI and I can see the winword-process in windows-taskmanager ( Server 2003 ), but nothing is going on,
the application hangs.
Did You solve your problem ? what's wrong ?
