ACS 5.3 Default Backup Password

When doing a backup on any of the ACS 5.x appliances by default the backup is encrypted with PGP. What password is used for that? Is it configurable?

It is not configurable and that information wasnt made public. However, when you restore it should be able to decrypt it just fine.
You can try opening a TAC case but when I was in TAC wasnt able to find that key either.
Thanks,

  • What is the default backup password in iTunes?

I had to restore my iPod and I do not know the password.

There is none. Unless you can guess the password (try ones used on the iPod already), you will have to restore to factory settings/new iPod unless you have another backup.
Other users have reported some problem so you are not alone.

  • ACS 4.0 and german password characters???

Hello. I have attempted to map ACS 4.0 to Windows AD 2003 as an External Database.
This all works fine. The only weird thing is that ACS doesn't accept user passwords containing german special characters (such as ä,ö,ü).
From the file "C:\Program Files\CiscoSecure ACS v4.0\CSAuth\Logs\AUTH.log" I get the following information:

    Any ideas ?
Is this an known issue in this release ? At the moment we map ACS 2.6 to Windows NT 4 as an External Database. In this configuration the
authentication process works as well with german password characters!!!
    Thanks for help!
    Best Regards

    Hi
Looks like you are doing PAP, if you switch to MSCHAP then ACS will never see the password (only a hash created by the supplicant)
This will tell you whether the problem is ACS or AD.

  • Need to clear backup password

I forgot my backup password on iTunes, and need a way to clear it.
The last thing I tried was to backup to the cloud, reset to factory defaults, and then restore from the cloud. This still didn't clear the password off the phone.
Now I'm to the point where I may manually copy off contacts and photos, reset to factory defaults, and then manually restore contacts and photos, and finally redone load all my applications.
Does anyone know an easier way to clear off the darn password?

Hello miked, if you go to this link If you forgot your Apple ID password it should be able to help you find your password. But if you want to log out then you just go into settings- iTunes and Appstore and then log out.

  • I was trying to update my ipod to iOs 5 but I have forgotten the backup password

I was trying to update my ipod to iOs 5 but I have forgotten the backup password help please?

You need to restore your iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.  That is the only choise.
Warning: If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and then forget your password, you will not be able to restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable. If you forget the password, you can continue to back up and use the device, however you will not be able to restore the encrypted backup to any device without the password. You do not need to enter the password for your backup each time you back up or sync.
If you cannot remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore, choose set up as a new device.

  • BIOS backup password

what is the BIOS backup password for hp probook 445 G1.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I have never heard of what you are asking for.
You probably meant  admin password or backdoor bassword.
Unfortunately, business class notebooks, such as yours have very robust security.
Only an HP Service Center or a BIOS company can help you by removing the BIOS CMOS chip. They wuld have to replace it with a chip programmed with the appropriate BIOS ROM file that is by default without a password.
    Contact HP directly.

  • How to find your lost backup password

I restored my ipod touch ( 3rd generation ) and i cant remember my backup password. Can somebody please help me ..

To find lost iPhone backup password, you can do as the following steps:
The first step: Get tool "iPhone Backup Unlocker" via Google search then setup it and run it. It will show you import your saved backup file.
The next step: Choose your right Attack Type and do the particular settings
Totally, you will find 3 modes to pick out: Brute-force Attack (try all possible character combinations), Brute-force with Mask Attack (Knowing some symbols in the password) and Dictionary Attack (one`s own dictionary or use import default dictionary)
The third step: Crack iPhone backup password After choose your suitable attack mode, afterward you cost minimum time for you to find password and have lost data in your phone!

  • Why have a default user password feauture?

    Hi,
I (understood) read in the manual that there could be a default user password -
    28 BF 4E 5E 4E 75 8A 41 64 00 4E 56 FF FA 01 08
    2E 2E 00 B6 D0 68 3E 80 2F 0C A9 FE 64 53 69 7A.
If the file is encrypted based one this key, readers can open the file without having to prompt for password though the file is encrypted. I want to know whats the point of this? It provides no security. All it ensures is the reader be sophisticated enough to have a security handler. I don't see the point. Is there any advantage of having such a pdf with default user password?.What was the motivation behind this?
    Thanks

The Standard Security method of PDF supports TWO passwords - the user/open password and the owner/permissions password.  In addition, an encrypted PDF can have a set of rights (DRM) associated with it (eg. Don't print, don't copy, etc.)
If you wish to control WHO can open the PDF, then you assign a user/open password.  If you wish to allow ANYONE to open the PDF, then you leave it as the default.
Once the PDF is open (regardless of the open password), then the reader is responsible for respecting the DRM settings on the document.  However, if you are the owner of the PDF (and there is a permissions password), then you can get back FULL permissions by simply providing the owner password.
    Make sense now?

  • I am trying to restore a backup onto my iphone from itunes but it asked me for a backup password which I cant remember, is there anyway that I can reset the password and not lose my backup?

I am trying to restore a backup onto my iphone from itunes on a pc windows 8 but it asked me for a backup password which I cant remember, is there anyway that I can reset the password and not lose my backup? Any help is very appreciated

Try entering the password on your iPhone

  • But how do I create a new iTunes backup password without knowing the previous one?

In case anyone keeps track of such things, I'm among those folks who really doesn't recall ever being asked to create an iTunes backup password, but that's irrelevant to my question.
I'm not in any bind. I don't need my backup files to restore anything. I will shed no tears as they are moved to the Recycle Bin (indeed, I will gladly do the deed myself).
That said, it appears impossible to create a new backup password without knowing the previous one.
If the only "solution" is to wipe my iPhone's memory and start from scratch, I will be a sad camper.
Any help? Are backups to iCloud encrypted?
    Cheers...

    Additionally:
Be super critical & meticulous (and whatever other synonym I missed) when you get a new password:
Write it onto your bedroom wall, or someplace off of a computer that you will always find.
If you active 2-step verification, the key is VERY important. Lose it & you may be toast.
If you don’t 2 step verify, & use the Security Question instead --> do not lose, or forget the answers.
Very nearly the same outcome!!!!!:  Bad experience.
If you add a 2nd email address, make sure its a RESCUE address not just an alternate address.
If you lose these, you lose access to your 3rd party purchases via Appstore for future upgrade. That will make you VEWY, VEWY UNHAPPY. Apple new OS versions do update, but add a new device & likely you will be unable to use your content on that device. It will never load if the ID locks up.

I have forgotten my iPhone backup password. Is there a way of getting it as I am trying to load my old data from iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5?

If on a Mac, and you elected to save such to your Keychain, you can recover it from your Keychain. Otherwise, you can't.
While you can continue to sync/backup, if you can't remember it & want to remove it, you'll have to delete your existing backups & restore the phone as a new device. Your data will be unrecoverable.

you can't recover iOS crypted backup password, for security purposes. your backup is useless. sorry.
if you still have your old iPhone, make a new back-up

  • How do i get backup password if i forgot

how can i reset my backup password

It's not stored anywhere, the only way to get it or change it is to remember it.
From iTunes: About iOS backups :
When your backup is encrypted, you'll need to enter the password when enabling or disabling encryption or when restoring from the backup.
Warning: Make sure it's a password that you'll remember or write it down for safekeeping. If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and forget your password, you can't restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable.
If you can't remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and choose set up as a new device when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore.

i bought my iphone 4 about a year ago and just decided to upgrade it to ios5 just recently. My phone restored to to its factory settings and when I clicked continue restore from back up it is now asking a backup password which i dont remember setting up one. I am currently using a windows vista PC. How can I retrieve the password or restore all my old data into the new OS. I have been reading blogs about the same situation and is it true that it is one of apple's bugs?

It is NOT a bug.  You provided a password.  If you can't remember it, you can't restore your phone from backup.  Very simple.
