Action = BACK
Can we use action = BACK inside any automatic activity or does it need to be used only in the EXCEPTION FLOW?
Will it work in any other automatic activity and go back to the previous activity?
I am trying to use it and it does not work except in the EXCEPTION FLOW..
Yes - you're correct. Both "action = BACK" and "action=SKIP" both work inside an Exception's Handler's flow. They're ignored inside of the process itself.
Know you know this, but you'd need to use conditional transitions to send the work item instance backwards in the process.

I lost a custom made action. Is there any way to get it back?
I'm doing a stop motion project for school. I have about 150 images so obviously if I wanted to apply any change to all of them I'd make an action. So I did and with much success. It was very simple, just Cross Process curve with a few changes and some steps added. But I forgot to save it.
I opened and closed the document multiple time and the action set saved. I applied it to about 50 photo's. About 30 minutes ago I realized it has vanished. I check every place imaginable but couldn't find it. I've all ready applied it to 50 pretty high res photo's. Is there a way to get it back?Did Photoshop crash on you at some point?
Actions in the ACTIONS panel are only saved on disk when you close Photoshop successfully - or when you explicitly save the actions via the ACTIONS panel fly-out menu. Unfortunately, if you've not done either, there's really no way of getting the action back.

Photoshop CS5.1 Actions Disappeared
I am using Photoshop CS5.1 on a Mac. When launching Photoshop from Lightroom, I got an unexpected error (don't recall now what it said). Unfortunately, my custom workspace and all of my actions (default and user-defined) are gone. I utilize these actions heavily in my workflow and need them back ASAP. I have a good backup system, but when I click Load Actions from the Actions Palette, the default location [UserName]>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Adobe Photoshop CS5.1>Presets>Actions folder is empty (and backup files of this folder are empty long before I had this problem). Interestingly, my [UserName]>Library>Preferences>Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 Settings file still has an Actions Palette.psp file in it. I have shut down and rebooted many times without success. Any idea what I can do to get these actions back? I’m hoping it’s a matter of pointing Photoshop back to my preferences some how. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as it would take days I don’t have to recreate all of my custom actions from scratch. Thanks!
If you have the files on your system backed up you may be okay. The actions you see in the panel are stored in a file called Actions panel.psp. It's location is as listed here:
http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/preference-file-functions-names-locations.html
If you quit Photoshop, recover the prior version of Actions panel.psp via TimeMachine or whatever, then relaunch Photoshop you should see your old actions.
Good luck.

Where did "Attach to email" go as a form field action in Acrobat X?
I just upgraded to Acrobat X from 9 and love it but there seem to be a few options missing. I build and maintain forms for several different countries in my organization and need to include a button in my forms for the user to attach the form to an email. In 9 I would just go to field properties, actions, execute meni item and select attach to email. This option does not appear in 10.
I want to keep this action instead of a true submit button because the final destination changes based on country/location of the user. How do I get the Attach to email action back?
KevinHi there,
Glad you found the solution; this is actually the forum for Adobe FormsCentral, a new online form-building service (http://formscentral.adobe.com), so it's not likely that we'd have been able to give you the answer ourselves! You may want to re-post this info in the Acrobat Users' forum:
http://www.acrobatusers.com/forum
Best of luck!

This is getting so damn frustrating. I hate having to continually load actions into Photoshop CC and presets into Lightroom 5.
I would like the answer to this also. It deleted about 2/3 of mine. I cleared the workspace and started a new one. I fixed my actions back in the order I wanted and uploaded it to CC. Then they disappeared again. Whats going on and how can I fix it?

TROUBLE WITH ACTIONS IN CS5.5
I JUST UPGRADED TO CS5.5 FROM CS3. I HAVE ACTIONS I CREATED IN CS3 THAT DO NOT WORK IN CS5.5 AND I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE KNOWS WHY.
THE ACTION I HAVE IN CS3...
STEP 1: SELECT ALL
STEP 2: CHANGE X VALUE TO 1.4375 (IN TRANSFORM PANEL)
STEP 3: CHANGE Y VALUE TO .762 (IN TRANSFORM PANEL)
THAT'S IT! IT'S A SIMPLE ONE THAT CENTERS ALL ART ON MY TEMPLATE. WHEN I USE THE SAME ACTION IN CS5.5 IT DOESN'T WORK. IT JUST MOVES IT TO RANDOM PLACES. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY??
I AM ON A PC, WINDOWS XPI'm having a similar problem, seems related, but I don't understand the issue.
I have an object, with a center of 0,0.
I am using the transform box to move this to 2,0. I then make a copy of this, and move this copy to 4,0
When playing this recorded action back, it does not repeat my results.
Would you happen to know why this is occuring?

Actions don't record data when something other than points are used for Stroke
This is more of a bug, so if there's any staff out there, just came across this one. I was just recording an action with a vector stroke width set to .25", and it seems it doesn't record the width, although it WILL hit the nail on the head, so the data is there somewhere. To the alrternative when I did this without entering a unit of measurement after it, it immediately filled it in with points. See image below.
Hi,
So you are getting expected output when you play the action back? The bug is that the unit value isn't showing in the action steps?

VERY New to Encore....End Action Not Set?
I just upgraded (today) to Premiere CS5. I've been able to get to the point of burning my project and "Check Project" found an error. It was "End Action not set" for my sequence. I'm not 100% what this means (and a search turned up 370 items, leaving me overwhelmed).
Is it asking what I want to happen after the last chapter in the sequence does (like return to the Menu default) or is it asking me what will follow after playing chapter one in my sequence? I really doubt it is the last option but seeing as it is showing a still form a scene from chapter one I want to be sure that I link the correct thing from the get go.
Don't bash me, I know I'm stupid! In the Check Project Message box, Dbl-click on that error/warning message, so that you can see exactly where it found the issue.
In this case, there is an Asset, probably a Timeline, with no End Action set. This End Action tells the DVD player what to do next, like Return to Last Menu. Note: you can have an End Action on several different Assets, like Playlists and Chapter Playlists. Also note: if one has a Playlist with an End Action, and in that Playlist are Timelines with their own End Actions, the End Action of the Playlist takes precedence, and Check Project will issue a warning message (looks like an error message, but is just informing you of this precedence) to that effect. So long as that is what you want, just ignore that notification.
End Actions tell the DVD player what to do next. As mentioned above, it could be to Return to Last Menu, it could be to Go to another Menu, and you can even, with Specify Link and the drop-down, tell it to go to a Menu with a particular Button highlighted. It could also be used to make a Timeline Loop, where you would set its End Action back to the beginning of that Timeline. You could also set one Timeline's End Action to go to another Timeline. Lots of possibilities.
Remember that I told you Encore was more involved, than PrE's semi-auto authoring. Do not be overwhelmed, but just take it slowly. Soon, when you get the "lay of the land" down, you will greatly appreciate the new power and control that you have. Being overwhelmed will be replaced by great joy, and you will feel like a god.
I would like to make one recommendation, and you WILL thank me later: Jeff Bellune wrote a great book, The Focal Easy Guide to Adobe EncoreDVD 2.0, Focal Press, ISBN 0-240-52004-1. Do not be put off by the title and the version, EncoreDVD 2.0 (I know you have CS5). Everything in that book applies 100% to Encore CS5. Now, CS5 has added some "stuff," that will NOT be in the book, but this forum and the Help files will step you though those. Jeff's book will take you through all of the aspects of Encore and navigating the DVD-specs. He'll also teach you how to create illusions, that seem to override the DVD-specs. Of course we cannot do that, but the user will think that we have. This book will soon become your go-to for almost everything in Encore.
Good luck,

Procedures and Email Notifications
boldEN*bold*
Hi everyone!!
In my BPM development, i'm trying to automatize the email notifications, based on due process periods. Also, I need to inform, based on the delay, some other participants that escalates the alarm message.
Is it possible to do it using an "E-Mail Notification" component that can be reused during all the process, even that the interval conditions and informed users varies upon each activity.
Is there another way to solve it?
Thanks
boldSP:*bold*
Gracias,I think I understand what you're after. I think you want to use the same escalation logic for all of your processes and instead of embedding this in every process you want something reusable. If this is not the case, read no further.
While you can do this, there are still going to be 5 things each process would still need to have inside of them:
<li> your process would need to set the "deadline" predefined variable to the intial timeout (2 hours in the future in your example)
<li> your process would need an Exeption Handler needs to be added with an Exception transition set to "Instance Expiration"
<li> your process would need an Integer instance variable "alertLevel" to keep track of the current level
<li> your process would need a String instance variable "currentlyAssignedTo" to keep track of who's supervisor you want to notify
<li> your process would need an Automatic activity with one line of logic inside it.
You could have the Exception transition leaving the Exception Handler activity go to a subprocess using a Subflow activity. This subprocess would send the emails, determine the new deadline interval, determine the new priority of the instance, look up the currently assigned user, manager and supervisor's email addresses and send the email(s). The subflow would have two input argument variables (alertLevelArg and currentlyAssignedToArg). In the Begin activity, these arguments would be mapped to corresponding instance variables. Inside this subprocess there would be an automatic with the logic to send the email to the user / manager / supervisor based on the alertLevel instance variable. This subprocess would pass back out through its output argument variables the new alertLevelArg, and new deadline (a time argument variable set to some time in the future based on the new alert's level).
Once the instance in the called subprocess completes, the output arguments need to be mapped to the original process's "alertLevel" and "deadline" variable. From the Subflow activity, you'd have an unconditional activity that flows into an Automatic activity via an unconditional transition. This automatic activity would have the single line of logic "action = BACK" so the instance is sent back from the Exception Hanldler's flow back to the activity inside the process it was in when the Instance Expiration exception occurred.
Avoid hard coding the values of "2" and "5" and "8" for the number of hours to have elapse inside your logic. Instead make them business parameters capable of being edited by an business owner.

Pre-Check Completed at Wed Oct 18 21:22:32 2006Hi,
Its good that u pasted the complete log file. In your environment you have to run this upgrade tool only once from any of the middle tier.
And with respect to your error that u got in precheck is quite simple. All u have to do is just run this script from by connecting to portal schema using sqlplus.
Run dropupg.sql
Location-------- /raid/product/OraHome_1/upgrade/temp/portal/prechktmp/dropupg.sql
Later you re-run the upgrade tool and let me know the status.
Good luck

Flash CS4 Link to a Movie Clip from inside another Movie Clip
I am working on a Flash CS4 project which has 5 buttons with 5 corresponding movie clips all on the main timeline. Everything in functional so far.
My problem is this: I want to be able to mouse click on a particular word in the text inside movie clip 4 ("mc4") and have it link to movie clip 3 ("mc3") (on the main timeline).
I've tried many things, and I can't get it working.
I have tried to highlight the word then link it to "mc3" in the properties panel where it says link (I successfully linked to an email address and to an outside website in other parts of the project)....
I tried to link it in the properties panel to "mc3", I tried & "parent.mc3", "root.mc3";
Linking it this ways seems to be the simplest, logical thing to do, but I don't know what kind of prefix it needs.
Then, I tried making the word (inside mc4) an invisible button (button6) then linking it to the mc3, with it's actionscript in the main timeline with the other button functions.
I tried duplicating mc3 and duplicating invisible button 3 and moving it's hotspot to over the word.
I tried putting a copy of mc3 and the button inside mc4, with the actionscript also inside mc4.
I tried duplicating mc3 and calling it mc6, and putting that inside mc4, with the actions back on the main timeline, and tried again with the actions inside mc4.
I tried with mc6 and invisible button 6 on the main timeline, but that doesn't seem possible.
I tried using this code from Adobe Actionscript 3.0:
button6.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, startMovie);
function startMovie(e:MouseEvent):void
this.play("mc6"); [and I also tried with "mc3"]
Nothing works!! Please, I would appreciate any suggestions!!
Thanks,
SuzanneIf I limit my attention to the second sentence of your posting, then I suggest the following (borrowing from the rest of your posting)...
If that invisible button6 is inside MC3 (on MC3's main timeline), atop the word you are trying to link to the movieclip, and you just want to make mc4 play by clicking that invisible button6, then assign the following code to the button6 inside MC3...
button6.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, startMovie);
function startMovie(e:MouseEvent):void
MovieClip(this.parent).MC4.play();
If I missed, then I missed following your explanation. -
Checkbox in repeater, but default all to checked
Hi, I've been over old messages trying to figure this out, but haven't found out how to do this 'so simple' thing.
I have checkboxes in a repeater that are dynamically created from a pulldown menu of options. The checkboxes are created when I click an "add" button which submits the selected option from the dropdown in the form to an update action, back to the form jsp. Basically the same page is displayed, but updated with selected documents from the dropdown which now appear as checkboxed data in a repeater.
All is well, as the checked items then go to an output page when the form submit button is pressed, and are diaplayed in another repeater on that page. What I want though is to have the checkboxes all be set to checked initially as they are created, so the user can uncheck something that was accidentally selected for submittal. I am using a hashmap to put the selected documents into, and the checkboxes in the repeater use a datasource which is a string array in the form bean. Can I set the default value to {(read the selection)} or similar? I can't get it to work. Does this all have to be a Boolean array like another post seems to allude to?
Alternativelty, what is actually desired, is to check items to be deleted instead of submitted, but that seems like much more work to make it pretty.
Thanks for any help.Hi,
when you use an individual radio button the default check can be avoided. This can be acheived by creating three attributes. The 'Keytoselect' property must be unique for every radiobutton and the 'selectedkey' property must be a shared one. Then you can set value for 'Keytoselect' property to select a particular radiobutton.
When you want a particular radiobutton to be checked when loaded then following code can be used:
wdContext.currentContextElement().setSelected_Key_Att(wdContext.currentContextElement().setFirst_att);

Display message to user from sub vi to main vi
Hi,
I have got a question of which I am pretty sure it has come across before, but I could not find it via the search function nor with Google.
On my main vi I have got a link to a sub vi, this sub vi checks something and then gives a message to the user. The next step in the sub vi depends on what the users input on the message is. But when I am running my main vi the display (of course) does not come up, because I haven't got a link between the two.
Is there any way to send the message to the main vi and send the action back to the sub vi?
Thanks
Solved!
Go to Solution.Since everything is happening in the sub vi, why do you want to go back to the main vi?
Do you use the "Prompt user for input" express vi to get an input from the user?
Can you post your code or make some dummy vi's to visualize your problem? -
