Action bug!!!

Object > Path > Average > Horizontal
IF you try to create that as an action it will not work - it records nothing.
OSX Lion & Illustrator CS5.1

Is this likely to be an action you will be using very often?
I have simplified a lot of common keyboard commands using Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts > Menu Commands, replacing 3-key commands with 2-key ones.
So I use Cmd+U for Ungroup, Cmd+L for Average and so on (these 2 examples are in fact the default commands in old versions).
So for Average > Horizontal you could use, say, Cmd+L and click on the Horizontal button the first time. After that it's just OK or Return.
Isn't that just as quick as double-clicking on an action?

Vanishing scripts in actions bug continued

When did this first raise its ugly head? Was it CS3?
Use 'insert menu item' to add a script to an action. Quit and relaunch Illustrator. The action is still there but the script item isn't.
Still not fixed in CS5.

As far as I know, it's always been like this, despite repeated pleas to fix this in the Feature Request forum.
What I want to know, but have been too busy to ask, is whether the Layer Action bug which just appeared in CS4 has been fixed in CS5. Actions which have any Layer steps used to work fine, but in CS4 they too are lost after every relaunch. I'm long since sick and tired of having to delete and re-load my master Action set every time Illustrator crashes.

URGENT : jbo:Row Find action bug ???

Hi,
I am using JDEV 3.2.3 and the data tags to create JSP Master-detail pages.
But very often when I am using the find action of the jbo:Row data tag, the corresponding rows in the detail view is not good (no rows or not all rows !!!).
But if I test my data model with BC4J Tester it is working well !!!
Is there a BUG with the Find Action of jbo:Row Data tag ???
If so how can i correct the bug until the next release of the jbo data tags ???

The rowkeyParam seem to be correct since you where able to retrieve a row.
Now the problem seem to be when we try to set the current row to this one.
at oracle.jbo.server.ViewObjectImpl.setCurrentRow(ViewObjectImpl.java:4971)
It might be something simple like the row in the rowkey is not from the same entity as the rowset you are using to find it (deptDs).
Another possibility is the rows are not fetch yet or there are no rows yet in the set.
Try to place a <jbo:RowsetNavigate datasource="deptDS" action="first" /> before your Row tag.

Illustrator CC action bug!

Hi
I use Illustrator CC and have had the same problem has everyone else have, that when i restart illustrator my actions doesn't work and particular line size.
But i have learned to reset my saved actions and then load it again, and then it works..damn annoying to have to do that every day but it works for me...for now!
But i wana know what Adobe does to fix this bug?
We pay money for this program and i want it to work proparly... I dont wana have to reset and reload my action every day to get to work...

Let me illustrate the problem with a simple sample action.
When I create an action it works, and as you see Alignment item is expandable.

Upon restarting Illustrator the Alignment item is empty, the action doesn't work and I get an error dialog.
I have to delete and reload the actions and those are working again.
Here's the action I used. Just select 2 objects and press F11 or run the action.

Illustrator CC Actions bug

Tried new Illustrator CC Trial.
Loaded my Actions, saved from previous version of software.
After closing and starting Illustrator does strange things with actions:
1. It forgets all keyboard assignments to every action.
2. It forgets about certain operation each action does.
For example, i had "Flip horizontal" assigned to F4.
Program remembers the operation is held by Tranform Panel, but doesn't remember what exactly.
As the result after relaunching AICC almost every action is broken.
Same thing happens to aligning actions, make-realese mask actions, i.e. all actions based on certain operations with panels.
After reloading actions from the file everything goes back to normal but is broken again after relaunch.
Tried to recreate actions (I thought there might be difference in versions) — nothing changed.
Sync is off. PC.
Bug yet no posted to Adobe.

Record actions bug. does not execute the dont save action even though it acknowledges in action list

i am using macbook pro running Lion
so i am trying to save a series of actions that i want applied to a batch of images. i do all the actions correctly (i've done this before in earlier version of photoshop). stop recording my actions, and open the same image to make sure the automation process works properly and i get the same image through automation that i got when building my actions. one
of the actions is cutting and pasting a portion of the image in a different location, yet during the automation it always ends up somewhere else, and not in the same place, which makes no sense. another issue is during the recording of my actions i close out of all the files b4 i stop recording and click dont save. so this should be automated, but when i run the automation it prompts me to click dont save which it shouldnt do. i cant sit at the cpu and click dont save for thousands of images. whts the point of automation if i have to actually do something. stupid program. and i can clearly see in the list of actions tht it recorded me clicking dont save yet it still prompts me every time. i really do hate cs6. i wld install my old photoshop but b/c i have lion it doesnt support it... of course.. *rolls eyes*

@conroy - one of the actions means one task in an action (see screen shot).
@noel - i am able to run my action properly when i "play selection", but when i try to run a batch of images through the "automate" function is when the issues begin to arise. at least most of the issues.

so in detail what i am trying to do is:
record an action of the edits i make to a raw image so i can then run that same action on a batch of thousands of images via "automate." the specific tasks i am trying to complete during my action should be visble in the link i provided. to explain in detail what is occuring that is being recorded as an action:
1)- i press begin record
2)- I am open a raw image
3)- there is a time stamp in the image and i select and copy the time stamp from the corner of the image
4)- i then open a new document and past the time stamp into the new document
5)- i then increase the size of the pasted time stamp by about 3x by changing the resolution
6)- i then go back to original image
7)- i crop the original image to exclude the time stamp and other superflous things on the edges of the image
8)- i then rotate the original image 90 degrees CCW
9)- i then go back to the new document w/ the time stamp and select the time stamp with the marquee tool, so I can copy the time stamp to the original image
10)- i copy and paste the time stamp to the original image, i use the "move tool" and move the time stamp to the top of the original image.
11)- i then flatten the original image (i thought when this was done this is essentially combining layers, so there should be no possibility of the edited time stamp moving around as it has been flattened onto the original image)
12)- i then save the original image (that was flattened w/ the edited time stamp) as a .jpeg As part of the save process i also select the resolution.
***issue***
so i am now having an issue on this section as well. as you can see in the link i provided i have told adobe to do all this, yet now at this section it prompts me to make a decision about the resolution (i.e. press "ok").
13) -after this step i then select "close all" from the file menu which closes the original image that i just saved and prompts me if i want to save the new document i created for the time stamp i edited
14) - i select "dont save"
15) -i press stop record
16) - i then go to the folder where i saved the file i just edited in photoshop and change the name.
17) - i start the action process to see if i can replicate the manual actions i just completed through automation. i have no issues replicating this when i manually start the action, except for my issue w/ the time stamp detailed below.
***issue*****
when i do this the time stamp that i edited and pasted back into the image is not in the same place. i have only gotten it to be in the same place once, and the only thing i did differently was continually re-create the above action in the same manner. each time i recreated the action the time stamp was in a different place and one time it was finally in the place i moved it to.
18) - after checking that the action works, i then attempt to automate a batch of files
19) - i select file -> automate -> batch
20) - in batch i choose the folder with the original raw images that i now want to run the action on and also select the folder where to place the altered images
21) - in the batch menu i do not have any of the boxes checked (i.e. suppress color profile warnings, etc.)
22) - i select "ok" and the automation process starts
this is where i run into issues. originally i would get prompted @ step 14 (above) instead of the automation process just reading the task in the action that says select "dont save". somehow i do not get prompted there anymore. now i get prompted at step 12. it saves its as jpeg, but instead of completing the save process, at the resolution screen it prompts me to select "ok" instead of reading the task in the action that says select "ok"
i have created new actions for the images i collect since CS4 and CS5 and i have never run into any of the issues i have described above. i appreciate any and all help you can provide, as it currently stands i am pretty upset b/c i have wasted an entire day or productivity messing w/ what appears to be a buggy program.

PS CS5 Actions Bug

Hello!
I have a wierd issue happening involving an Action I created. The action has a step where I place an image (crop marks).
If I go through the action step-by-step (cmd-dblClick), the action completes as expected. However, when I try to batch a group of files the placed image step messes up and the image is offset -181px horizontal. I have rebuilt the action a couple times to no avail.
Has anyone seen this issue other than myself. Could use some expert advice.

All images are the same res and size. Been trying to fix this and here is what I have come up with so far.
If I try on a single image in full-screen mode works fine. Single image in standard scren mode and I get the offset again. So I think it has something to do with the window. I did try inserting a menu item into action (change screen mode) but did not help.
I will try your idea with the ruler though.

Automate Batch Action Bug?

I'm seeing a strange issue when I automate an action in Photoshop CC (14.0). I have a simple action that does three things in this order:
1. Flatten Image
2. Convert to 8-Bit
3. Add some standard file info
When I run the action from the action menu it works fine. However when I have multiple images open and I want to run them all through the action using "Automate->Batch", it gets run in this order:
2. Convert to 8-Bit
3. Add some standard file info
1. Flatten Image
Why is this happening? Is anyone else seeing issues with Automated/Batch actions?
The same process in CS6 does not have the issue.

actions palette flyout >> playback options >> step by step or 1 second.
Will slow down you action some, but better to have your files correct and not flat.

The longstanding scripts-in-actions bug

In case it is true that with the announcement of the new version the beta testers are relieved of the non-disclosure-agreement (as I think I read somewhere):
Can anybody tell yet if Scripts in Actions will finally be maintained after restarting the appplication in Illustrator CS6?

I can’t remember for sure if I filed a report, but I have added my support and started a thread in the Feature Request section.

The Adobe team should have been aware of this for a looong time now in any case, because the issue has persisted at least since CS, if I remember correctly.

You are right, theer are some changes incorporated in the latest MLR # 16 on the configurations files and on the dehydration store metrics(such as performance, fields,..).
However, I would not suggest to continue working on olite, even for Development/Test purposes as you might get stuck with strange errors...and the only solution would be to re-install SOA Suite if your olite gets corrupted. There might be ways to gets your olite back to position, but trust me..its not so simple.
Also, when you develop and stress test all your testcase scenarios in an TEST Adv installation, its simple to mimic the same in actual production box, as you exactly know its behavior.
So, go for a brand new SOA 10.1.3.4 MLR # 5 (or) 10.1.3.3.1 MLR # 16 SOA Suite Advanced installation with Oracle DB 10.2.0.3 as its dehydration store.

unluckily I think you misunderstood Michael original point.
Because some time passed, I too would like to report same issue again but let me explain and guide you (or others) how I too reached same sentence.
As of now even from your own 'Forums preferences' profile page you should be able to find on right side a
'Help' URL that leading to an intermediate page stating :
"The Frequently Asked Questions has Moved
The Forums help file has been moved to the
Community Wiki. Please update any bookmarks you may have."
Now a part from correcting that 'Help' URL once you or anyone reach 'Forums
Help (FAQ) - TechNet Articles - United States (English) - TechNet Wiki' you can find 'How
do I report issues with the Forums?' question, and then there's this other sentence :
"How do I report issues with the Forums?
You can report bugs, suggestions, and other issues for Forums, by performing one of the following actions:
Bug: If the issue seems like a bug in the forums code, go to the Bug Reporting Forum and report the bug
by using the template provided in the top forum thread.
But once anyone reach that Forum, now called 'Forums Issues (not product support)' there's no real forum bug reporting template in the top forum threads (as of now I only found 'Verify Your Account 15' and 'How to report
spam') and also to find this post thread I really had to search for "report a bug".

Select your Action set. Choose Save Actions from the palette drop-down menu.
Load this saved file with Load Actions command in AICC.

Forum Bug Report

I'd like to report an irritating bug in the forum software. I composed a post in an plain-text TextEdit window. It had several paragraphs marked off by double carriage returns. I then selected that text and pasted it into a forum message window. Once pasted, each sequence of return-return had been replaced by return-space-return-space-return. This is wasting my time, as when I use an auto-typing utility to paste in a multi-paragraph text block, I always have to go back in to delete the extra characters.

1.5 - Apparent SQL parsing issue...

Hi,
After installing the 1.5 release - I noticed that some INSERT statements that had worked fine in 1.2 were suddenly failing with syntactical errors in 1.5. This occurs for the same exact database instance (an Oracle 10.2.0.3 Enterprise Edition for HP/UX Itanium database).
I am running 1.5 on Windows XP Professional.
Example:
This INSERT statement works fine in 1.2:
INSERT INTO joe
( a
, b
, c
SELECT
     a
, NVL (b
        , a) AS b
, NVL (c
        , a) AS c
FROM bill;But in 1.5 - it fails with error message:
"ORA-00923: FROM keyword not found where expected
00923. 00000 - "FROM keyword not found where expected"

Sequence initialize problem with pre-mapping process

Hi,
I use a pre-mapping process in a mapping which executes a function which :
a) drops a sequence
b) re-creates the dropped sequence ( CREATE SEQUENCE xxxx START WITH 1)
But OWB creates always the sequence beginning with 21 as value ?
If I executes the procedure in SQL manually then it works fine and starts the sequence with 1.
Is there an explanation for this action (bug ?) ?
