Action method not called in Backing Bean

I am using <x:inputFileUpload> tag inside my jsp page. I am trying to call action method when clicking button, but action method not called.

Calling a backing bean method after load of fragment in adf

I needed to call a backing bean method after page load of fragment in adf.
I used the method suggested in:
https://community.oracle.com/message/11044570
only difference is im giving the if clause as:
if (refreshFlag == RegionBinding.RENDER_MODEL ) {
instead of
if (refreshFlag == RegionBinding.PREPARE_MODEL)
It was working fine, but page was not getting refreshed so used the code as mentioned in example:

Now issue is once page is loaded and backing bean method is called, the refresh code refreshes the page and upon page load, refresh method is called again in recursive fashion.
please advise what to do in such scenario?
I tried to do selective refresh using some variable(also with static) but it does not help as page wont be refresh at all or page will keep refreshing recursively.

Call a backing bean method using h:selectBooleanCheckbox of jsf on select

I want to call a backing bean method using h:selectBooleanCheckbox of jsf on select and deselect.
I cannot use af:selectBooleancheckBox of adf and h:selectBooleanCheckbox doesnot have the property of autosubmit="true"

Button action is not calling

Hi,
I am new to JSF.
Here is my problem.
I have a select one menu and command button on a page
When ever the page loads for the first time the select one menu is loaded with the data and the button should be disabled.
When an item is selected from the menu the button should be enabled.
Upto this part I finished.
Now the problem is with button.When I click the button the corresponding action method is not calling.
If the button is enabled during page load then the action method is calling when ever I click the button.
But I need to make the button disabled until I select an item from the
select one menu.In this case the action method is not calling when I click the button.
Please help me.

So under this condition the action method is calling.B'cause the button is in enable state even there is no section in the menu.
If I make loadTable=true then the action button is in disabled state until the menu item is selected. But the action method is not executing in this case.

Calling a backing bean method by clicking on an image.

I have several HtmlGraphicImage (h:graphicImage) objects on a page. I would like to be able to call a method inside the backing bean for the JSP page where the images are located when the user clicks on one of the images, and have a parameter sent to that method in the backing bean that will tell it which image was clicked on.
How can this be done? Unlike buttons that have an action that gets listend to in the backing bean, HtmlGraphicImage objects do not have actions. I know that you can intercept clicks by an onClick Javascript method, but how can you call a mehtod in the backing bean using the Javascript onClick?
For example, part of my JSP looks like this:

you can use the <h:button> with type='image'Thanks for the reply, but I cannot use that. The thing is, the images are read at run time from a database and are not present in the resources. The button's image only takes String file names, not URLs.
There should be a way to do this using onClick.

Calling a method in a different backing bean when I leave a different JSP

Hi,
I have an existing JPS, JspA, who's backing bean is BeanA.
JspA has an action, ActionA, called when I click "save" on JspA.
I want to include a new JspB which is launched when the user clicks "save" on JspA. I have done this with a new navigation rule. The user now does his stuff on the new JspB page and calls "exit" on this page. This calls an action on JspB's backing bean BeanB and navigation rules send the user back to JspA. Problem is I now want the old code in ActionA to execute as if JspB had never existed but not sure how to do this? I don't want the user to have to do anything else to initiate a fresh call to ActionA, I just want it to execute when navigation returns to JspA

what you say is not true. You can execute any code within a selection listener you want. If you can print then it shows the method s called and you can execute whatever you want within this method

Action method not being called

Using jdev 10.1.3.4 with jsf/adf bc. I have two af:table components on a jsf page. I'll call them table A and table B. In table B, I have an input text with autosubmit=true and hooked up to a valuechangelistener. One of the columns in table B is a command button. Initially, I was having problems when the user changed the input value in table B and then immediately clicked the button in table B. Sometimes when the button was clicked, the backing bean method associated with it was not executing. Thanks to Didier's advice in this forum (Re: PPR and submit I was able to get this functionality working consistently.
I still have a problem though. Table A has a command LINK as one of the columns, which executes a method in the backing bean when clicked. However, as in the scenario above, if the user changes a value in the input text in table B and in this case immediately clicks the LINK in table A, it seems that the action method behind the button in table A executes the first time but if user repeats steps (changes value of input in table B and immediately clicks LINK in table A) the action method is not called after the first time. For testing, there is no real code in the backing bean method. The only code in the action method is an sop so I can tell if the method was executed. Likewise, the value change listener method, for testing purposes, has a sop so I can tell if/when it is executed and the thread.sleep(400) code needed per Didier's workaround. I'll include the code from jspx:

I need the backing bean method behind the LINK in table A to be fired consistently, every time user makes a change to input of table B and immediately clicks LINK in table A. It works the first time, but all subsequent attempts will not result in the action method being executed. Hope someone can help.

I'm not sure if this is considered a bug, but I found that if I use a commandLink in table A, my code doesn't work as expected. However, I found that by using a commandButton in table A the functionality works as expected. I still would like to hear some feedback on this if anyone is interested in recreating the scenario. How to call the backing bean method through javascript by closing window?

I open a new page by clicking <t:commanLink.../> from the first page. Then I close the new page. By closing the new page I will call a function in the backing bean such as myBean.doSomething() to do something. Such like:

The approach 1 is the right way.
Reasons:
1) With Approach 2 - you are creating new ApplicationModule on the fly and release it at the end of the request. If you are invoking multiple method calls, you need to the same for each & every call.
This is not reusing the existing application module.
2) If the use cases which does calls for maintaining state across requests from the same client - across the application flow, Approach 2 cannot be used.

Calling init() method from "session scope" backing beans (AbstractPageBean)

i prepared a jsp/jsf page named DBmanage, its backing bean's scope is set to "session"
the page contains - among other components - one radiobuttongroup, the buttons of which i would like to rename at the first time when the user visits the page... (default names are "item 1", "item 2", "item 3")
i thought that the overridden init() method does the work for me with this simple code:

my scope was set to "session", but had to be "request" so that i could use the params syntax.

How to call the show method of Popup from backing bean?

Hi!
I wanted to display the results of a search form in a dialog that is placed in popup.
That is The content of the popup will be rendered from the backing bean, dynamically .
And so when the form is filled and the submit button is clicked, the form fields have to be submitted to the server, and the results are to be displayed in the dialog,after the PPR response has arrived, and not at the time of calling the PPR.
Could you explain How this can be achieved?

The fix for the popup in a template is to give the template an id say "template" and reference the popup in the JavaScript as "template:popupId", where popupId is the value of the af:popup's id attribute.
Regarding DWR, Joe really did a nice job with this framework. I have to say he got my attention. The one issue though is that JavaScript is an absolute must when using DWR and other frameworks that have a heavy JavaScript tilt. Dealing with JS can be a bit of a hassle due to x-browser idionsyncrascies as well as slow exection of JS. That said I believe Joe has one of the best JS solutions around.
On the flip side of this ADF Faces is trying to do something a bit different. Firstly, we want to avoid JS. The user should handle as little as JS as possible. In addition,
ADF Faces has the benefit of a server-side component framework we want to leverage this to make sure there is a limited amount of JS execution on the client.
So if you want to work with JS, DWR is a good solution. If you want to work with, Java, standards, and a great tooling environement ADF Faces is a better choice.
Finally, "Reverse AJAX" is a marketing term for "Push". You probably have also heard the term Comet. There are some varations on the protocols used but all-in- all. We are talking about one thing, the ability for the server to "Push" information to the client. Luckily, we provide this ability in a feature called active data channels. You will see this feature in the next preview. By setting an attribute value in a pageDef trees, tables, and BAM components can recieve data from the server via "Push".

H:inputText and immediate="true" not updating cached backing bean value

Hi,
I am having a problem with h:inputText and immediate="true" when
returning back to the same page.I looked through the forums but the
only solution to remove the page from the session works only if I
don't have to change any button label names in the page I am going back
to.Unfortunately, I have to change a button name when I go back to the
same page.The button name change works if i don't remove the page from
session but then h:inputtext has stale values in it from the backing
bean.I also need to avoid validation as it is a huge form.
I have tried looking through the JSF forums but they didn't have any
answers for a very similar question.
I am not sure how exactly to use component binding for the input text and update the model values using an actionListener.I have tried puting a binding on an input text field and then used an actionListener instead of immediate="true' in the h:commandLink.But, putting context.renderResponse() in the actionListener method results in the model values not getting updated.
I have also tried using component.processUpdates(facesContext) as in the UpdateModelValuePhase class -that too doesn't work.

The <h:inputText ..> does not populate the values back from a backing
bean when immediate="true" is used when an action is called.
<h:commandLink id="selectPrincipalId"

Only <h:inputText has the cached values from the first entry.
<h:inputText id="principalLastName1Id"
value="#{application.currentPrincipal.lastName}" size="10"/><== this
has the cached value from the backing bean application.
<h:outputText gets the new values from the backing bean when the same
page is reentered.

this refreshes with the new value from the backing bean application.
Here is the solution to rectify the problem:

ADF VO Row Fetch Range Issue: Action is not called after 10th row

Hi People!
I am working with an Application here in which one page has a table based on a view object. This table has range navigation, and the VO configuration for Tuning is to fetch rows in batches of 1000, all in one fetch. Now, i have a single selection configured in this table, and also a button on the <tableActions> facet which calls a method on the backing bean.
The problem is, for the first 10 rows of this table, the method is called (seen through the debugger), but when we move the selection to the 11th row or further, the page only refreshes but does not call the method.
This is not a problem with the data, because we tried two other approaches:
1) removed the range navigation and shown all the records in the same page: the error persists for the 11th row ahead
2) changed the VO query to return only the 11th row from the previous test using its ID: the action is called, now that the row is the first on the rowset.
Have you experienced similar behavior? Why the Action is not executed when the selected row comes after the tenth row?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have assembled a step-by-step based on the HR schema. For this example, i have created an EmployeesVO based on the EMPLOYEES table, and an App Module to provide a data control. From then on:
1) Create a JSF JSP to list the Employees VO
1.1) Bind the JSF Page to a Backing bean
1.2) Create an af:page element on the page
2) Drag the EmployeesVO from the Data Control Palette to the af:page
2.1) Read-Only Table, Selection Enabled
2.2) Do not include table navigation.
3) Double-Click the automatically created submit button on the TableSelectOne section
3.1) Bind it to a method on the Backing Bean
3.2) Add some code to it, in my case i tested:
FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addMessage(null, new FacesMessage("Teste"));
4) Run the example and try two approaches:
4.1) select one of the first ten rows and click on the button: The action is fired.
4.2) select the eleventh row and click on the button: The action is not fired.
4.3) select one of the first ten rows again and click on the button: The action is fired.
This example didn't even include range navigation, but if you want to test you will see the result is the same.
