Action written in CS4 won't run correctly in Elements 11 - specif. the "selective color" layer

I created an action using Adobe Photoshop CS4, and it runs correctly in CS4. When I save and load the action into Elements 11, there is a problem with the selective color layer. The selective color layer shows up in the layer stack along with the expected message that it can't be edited b/c it was created in the full version of Photoshop. However, the layer itself does not have any color/changes in it.
In Photoshop, the selective color layer makes the photo look pink. When I run the action in Elements11,the selective color layer does absolutely nothing to the photo. I do have the eye turned "on" to view the layer, and it's set at the correct blending options & opacity (normal, 100%).
If I run the action in Photoshop, save the file with all the action-created layers, and reopen the file in Elements 11, THEN the selective color layer shows its correct pink color. But when I run the action as a stand-alone action in Elements11, it does not.
Can anyone offer help as to why this is happening? Is there something special I need to do to make the action work correctly in Elements 11? My understanding was that it should RUN and create the layers correctly, although some of them will not be editable in Elements11. However, as it stands, it is not creating them with the correct color.

You probaly need to record the action in a little different way in photoshop cs4 to get the selective color adjustment layer to work.
Try something like this:
1. In photoshop cs4 add an selective color adjustment layer, but don't do any adjustments and stop recording the action.
2. Undo the selective color adjustment layer and then double click on on the selective color adjustment layer step in the actions panel
and when the dialog opens set your adjustments and click ok.
Now it should work in pse 11:

Action steps that won't run correctly in PSE 7/8/9 (but did in 4 and 6)

I have a wonderful action that was written to work in PSE 3/4/6. It won't run in PSE 7/8/9. After fooling around for a while, I think I understand why. Adobe changed the way Adjustment Layers are handled. In earlier versions of Photoshop and Elements, Adjustment Layers threw up a modal dialog box. That changed so that Adjustment Layers now appear in the Palette Bin as a palette.
Here a sample of some of the action steps that won't work correctly:
Make adjustment layer
Using: adjustment layer
Type: levels
Set Selection
To: none
Set current layer
To: layer
Name: “Adjustment 1”
Set current layer
To: layer
Mode: luminosity
Stop
Message: “Move gray slider left”
With Continue
Set current adjustment layer
To: levels
In earlier versions of PS and PSE, the way these steps would work is that a new adjustment layer would be created, the dialog box giving the instruction would open, it would be dismissed by clicking "Continue," and then the "Set current adjustment layer to: Levels" would generate a model adjustment layer dialog box would open up which would let one make the adjustment.
In newer versions, since Adjustment Layers are handled in the Palette Bin, after dismissing the instructions, the action doesn't stop to allow the user to make change the sliders on the adjustment layer.
The action runs perfectly in CS4 and CS5 and throws up the levels adjustment modal box as it did in PSE 4 and PSE 6, but the action doesn't throw the modal box in PSE 7/8/9
Does anyone know of a way to alter the action steps to allow the action to stop to allow the adjustment and then to resume again?

Adding a new levels adjustment layer on top of the Midtone contrast layer
should work, just use a clipping mask to restrict the adjustments to the
areas of the levels adjustment layer below. The histogram will be different, but
actually testing the action is really the only way to know if that makes any difference.
Replacing the levels adjustment layer is another option, though it requires a few more steps.
The following assumes when the action gets to this point,
the Midtone contrast adjustment layer is the active (selected) layer.
To record this part of the action:
1. Duplicate current channel (in the channels panel. drag the Midtone contrast mask
    down to the Create new channel icon at the bottom of the channels panel)
2. Ctrl+click on the newly created channel (Midtone contrast mask copy)
    This loads the selection of that channel.
3. Drag the new channel (midtone contrast mask copy) to the trash icon at the bottom
   of the channels panel.
4. Back in the layers panel, delete the Midtone Contrast adjustment layer.
5. Go to Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Levels
    This creates a new levels adjustment layer using the selection loaded from
    the duplicated channel and opens the levels dialog.
To load the RGB (composite) as a selection, Ctrl+click on the rgb in the channels panel
and the same is true for the red, green and blue channels.
With layer masks, elements doesn't seem to want to load them as selections in actions,
so that's the reason for the action steps above.

My home button won't work correctly after I plug the charger in

My iPhone 5s's home button doesn't respond correctly after i plug in the charger. I'm not sure what's wrong.
At first, it wouldn't charge so i had to find a different charger that i had ordered from amazon (not from apple) and it only worked when i plugged it in with one side. the other chargers that i have from apple do not work. the home button sometimes works correctly, but im sure that it starts to not respond correctly after i plug the charger in. i have tried almost everything i could find on the internet. im not sure if its a hardware or software problem. please help. thank you

Sorry but I'm not clear. Do you have more than one charger from Amazon? Did this problem start after you used the charger(s) you got from Amazon and now using the Apple brand chargers it doesn't work either? I'm wondering if the Amazon charger damaged the phone.

Uninstall MacKeeper:
Follow these instructions to uninstall MacKeeper. They have been tested with the most recent version of MacKeeper. Earlier versions than the one released in 2012 required more extensive work to uninstall all its components.
If you actually used MacKeeper to alter your system, e.g. "remove excess binaries" or such, you will need to reinstall OS X as well as all your additional software. Uninstalling MacKeeper is insufficient to reverse the corruption it is capable of - once again, that is if you used it.

Help! Adobe CS4 won't run after upgrading to ML

After installing ML on my iMac, my Adobe CS4 software either won't open or runs very, very slow. I know CS4 is supposed to be compatible with ML, but I never had this issue before. Any suggestions before I have to spend $700 to upgrade my CS?

Kurt - thank you. That is the first thing that has made sense - perhaps my OS upgrade didn't go well because I already had some kind of OS damage. If it was just one of my CS programs, I could see how it might be my software but when it's all of them and when I upgraded, suddenly my entire computer slowed down. I had to upgrade my memory but perhaps there is an underlying problem. I may try going back to Apple to see if they have suggestions.

ICal won't run correctly

I was trying to update my calendar this morning by adding some Google calendars and after I added the account, iCal crashed. I quit and relaunched and now nothing works. The calendar list is completely gone and the application won't allow me to add a calendar, create an event, or even view the iCal preferences.
I have tried deleting the cache, preferences, restarting, and even reinstalling iCal with Pacifist... nothing has worked.
I'm running the latest version of Snow Leopard on a MacBook Pro. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks in advance for any help!

I suggest is to remove the locally stored Google CalDAV data from where iCal is expecting to find it.
Go to your User's Library > Calendars folder.
Delete the 'caches' file you see there.
In the folder you will also find several folders with long alpha numeric names.
Some of the folder titles will end in .caldav, move these to your Desktop.
Try to open iCal again.

InDesign CS4 won't run - 'not supported on this architecture' error

Hi there,
I'm having a problem with InDesign and Flash (both CS4), installed as a bundle in one go from Adobe Master Collection discs, When trying to launch InDesign or Flash, I get a message that they are 'not supported on this architecture'.
I'm on a MacPro with 2x3GHz Quad Core and 4GB running 10.5.7.
All the other CS4 Master Collection apps have installed and run fine.
My volume is formated as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Any ideas?

ITunes 10.5 and Apple Backup won't run correctly for update to iOS 5.

I'm trying to update my iPhone 3GS to OS 5. When I update to iTunes 10.5, click update, and begin the backup that's required before updating to OS 5, iTunes and Apple Backup get stuck in an endless death loop. The striped bar in the top window of iTunes just keeps spinning and it claims to be backing up the phone. But this continues for several hours and the update to OS 5 never starts. I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes 10.5 several times because updating to OS 5 requires iTunes 10.5. I've got plenty of RAM and a 2.0GHz computer.

Ok, here is what worked for me. Copied from sodaboy581's post:
Posted this in another thread! Sounds stupid, but this will actually work.
1. Quit iTunes.
2. Start an elevated command prompt (Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right Click "Command Prompt" -> "Run as Administrator")
3. Once in the command prompt, type "netsh winsock reset" and hit ENTER.
4. Restart iTunes.
Problem solved.
At least this fixed it for me on my own Windows 7 x64 installation. I had AppleMobileDevice.exe, APSDaemon.exe, and iTunes.exe all at 25% CPU simply from opening up iTunes.
25% CPU for me is 100% CPU per core since I have 4 cores.

One caveat is that the iPhone (mine is a 4S) doesn't "wake up" while this is happening and hitting the "Home" button does not display "slide to cancel" as it usually does during a backup. Oh well, it still worked!

Itunes cannot psych due to being over capacity. Can't find how to edit files and delete stuff.

shut down "photo stream" , delete unused apps. export your photos from iPhone to PC and then delete all of your photos. But if you want to keep the photos on phone, maybe you will try some methods to compress the photo size in order to free up more storage.

CS4 won't run old scanner driver

Hi - does anyone know how I can still use my old Canon scanner (driver: CanonPI CS-U 3.9X) with CS4? On opening Photoshop CS4 " One or more plug-ins not available on your system" - this is the Canon driver.

Web-based apps that require Silverlight won't run in Firefox even though the latest version of Silverlight is installed.

I am running Windows 7 SP1, Firefox 11, and have MS Silverlight v5.0.61118.0 installed along with the Silverlight Plug-In 5.0.61118.0 enabled.
The problem is I cannot get certain apps to run in Firefox that require MS Silverlight. I keep getting the prompt to install. If I click to install, I'm told the the version of Microsoft Silverlight I'm attempting to install is already installed.
What more can I do?

Similar issue here. I had iPlayer but it 'died' now I can't install it...or any other app such as Adobe Air. I have an outstanding question trying to resolve it as well.

Run time Column Name in the Select Statement

I face problem while writing sql statment for report in the Oracle reports.
The prom is I want to bound the where clause column name with the value stored in a variable e.g.
Select * from emp
where Column_Name = 'XYZ' ;
where the variable Column_Name have different values at different times, e.g.
At a time the value of Column_Name is Dept then
Select * from emp
where Dept = 'XYZ' ;
At other time value of Column_Name is City then
Select * from emp
where City = 'XYZ' ;

U can use lexical parameters for the solutions.U must be aware of it, but still i describe how to work it out.
1)In your datamodel in object navigator create a parameter under User parameter node.Name the parameter, for eg. p_clause.
set data type of parameter to character.
2)write a select query eg.
select * from emp &p_clause; --(THIS IS THE PARAMETER WE CREATED ABOVE)
3)Now run your report
Now in your parameter form pass the value for p_clause parameter.
eg: where name='JACK';
or
where city='NEWYORK';
or where deptno=10;
But do it in steps as above mentioned.
