ActionListener at JSpinner doesn't work

Hi,
I wanted to add an ActionListener to a JSpinner, but this doesn't work at least this way - so my question is how can I catch a changed value of a JSpinner and use it in my program?
I wrote this so far..(...)
     private JSpinner spinGroups;
     private String[] szGroups;
        private void initGUI(){
                         szGroups = new String[] { "N/A", "group1", "group2"};
                         SpinnerListModel spinGroupsModel = new SpinnerListModel(
                              szGroups);
                         spinGroups = new JSpinner();
                         spinGroups.setModel(spinGroupsModel);
        private void initActionListener(){
          // FIXME
          spinGroups.addActionListener( new ActionListener(){
               public void actionPerformed( ActionEvent ae){
                    spinGroupsChanged();
     private void spinGroupsChanged(){

Hm, I tried with a changeListener this way (below), but it doesn't work out, is it the right implementation?
I thought a changeListener helps if a component has been exchanged - is this the way the JSpinner works like? If so where do I have to add the changeListener to then. Also to the the textfield instead of the JSpinner?
