Actions are running slow

my actions are all of a sudden running really slow! I can't take it! Takes like 10 min to flatten an image! any suggestions???

Fetching queries that are running slow

Is there any tool in Oracle 9i, by which we can fetch queries that are running slow in the entire database on a weekly basis ?

As mentioned, the statspack tables and the shared pool views from which they take their snapshots - V$SQL / V$SQLAREA - provided various ways for you to idenitify top N statements by cpu time, elapsed time, logical io, physical io, etc.
For a weekly basis, the statspack tables and statspack reports provided the easiest way to do this, a) providing you're capturing this data and b) depending on how long you're retaining it.

Ever since I updated my ipad2 and iphone5 to ios8, both devices are running slow, apps take forever to download (Google is STILL downloading on both), and they freeze/crash. This is VERY frustrating! Anyone else having the same problems?

Had same problem on my iPad2 with the original 8.0 release. I ended up wiping it completely clean and doing a reset and restore from backup. That seemed to fix my issues. I had the same problem when 7 came out and did the same wipe and restore to get everything working well.

Scripted actions are glacially slow

Windows 8, CS5 64 & 32
I'm using Margulis' PPW set which is an extension panel and associated actions. When the actions are invoked by the panel, they run slow enough to time with a calendar, except for the rare occasion when they run as they should -- no pattern established yet (just downloaded PPW this morning). The actions run fine if launched from the actions palette.
It also appears another extension is also running at less than full speed, but it's not nearly as complex so I hadn't really focused on its behavior. So it seems this is not a new thing, but it's now become unbearable using PPW.
Any ideas?

Ah, sorry to be so... obtuse.
I'm hopeful that the next version will bring a fix but I'm not betting the farm on it. I think there's something in Win8, or maybe my installation of it, that is causing the issue. Here's why:
I have a second extension from another Margulis assosciate, and probably an associate of those who did the work on PPW. That extension is the Floating Adjustments Panel, available here: http://blog.rbg.bigano.com/2011/05/04/free-cs-extension-1-floating-adjustments/
Under Win7 (same computer before the OS upgrade), when clicking in the panel for a Curves adjustment the response is instant. Under Win8, it's not... except when it is. Meaning that it's a slug most of the time except for brief periods when it runs as it should -- just like PPW.

Webi reports are running slow

Hi Gurus,
This may be repeated question but I didn't find suitable answer and need your help.
There are number of webi reports which is based on olap connection directly on bex query. We are experiencing the slowness while opening the report and even opening for selection screen for prompts.
This is happening from past few days.
There is slight slowness in backend BI system as well.
All the BO servers are running fine.
BO Version: BO 4.0 sp6.6

Sometime the cache got fill , restart the servers once and it should be as before.

Executable jars are running slow for certain features

A weird problem occured one day. I started running my old jar -packed application. It took more than a minute to load the main window. Also updating file browser window is really slow when I browse from a folder to another. I also tested running other jar applications and they have similar problems. Everything works but certain task are extremely slow.
I reinstalled jre1.6.0_07 but it did not help. Then I uninstalled all jdk's and jre's and installed jdk1.6.0_07 which came with jre1.6.0_07. No result. Do you have any idea where the problem is or what I could try next?

Problem solved.
It was the mingw that I installed as full installation. Full installation came with a java compiler, which made some specific java features really slow.
Another problem was uninstalling it in a way that would have restored java as it was. I tried uninstalling mingw, manually removing mingw folder, cleared environment variables, removed and reinstalled all java etc. Finally, I just reinstalled everything beginning from OS on my computer

Calc scripts are running slow(all of a sudden)

All of a sudden, for the past few days, we are noticing that all our calc scripts have been running very slow.
The same scripts used to run much faster earlier.
Has anybody seen this kind of scenario?
We did a RAM upgrade on the eas server, and have restarted all services.
Other than that, nothing has changed in our system.

It can be quite common for calcs to slow down over time, but there are some things to do to mitigate this.
1. Are you using Intelligent Calc? All things being equal (a very broad statement in essbase, since things are never equal) if there is more activity by users, it could affect how many blocks are marked dirty. This is probably not your issue, because a properly written calc wouldn't slow down much for this reason. I had to mention it though because I have seen an installation where their calc was 'Calc All' and they used intelligent calc to create the scope of the calc. (bad, very bad)
2. Do you perform DB restructures? (either explicity by Restructuring or by exporting level 0, clearing and import level 0 then agg) If this is not done on a regular basis (regular depends on the usage of the cube) then you could be experiencing fragmentation, which increases the size of the database, increasing run times.
3. Have you just added another fiscal year to the database? More data means bigger database.
RAM upgrade on the EAS server shouldn't affect calc times (unless essbase services are also running on the EAS server, then there might be something to it).
Most of these (and other) issues can be mitigated by applying proper scope to your calcs (Fix statements).
What environment are you running in? Windows or Unix?

Automator/Workflow actions are in "slow-motion" under Mac OS X 10.6.x

Hi,
after the update to SL some of my Automator Workflows dont work properly.
I do things like copy some part of sentence from a .rtf document and insert it into a input box of a website in firefox.
In 10.5.8 everything worked like a charm. But in 10.6.x the same workflow (also new created) works some times and the other time it slows down and the cursor moves like a slow-motion. Pixel for pixel and i cannot stop the workflow. I only can wait until the workflow is finished (takes in "slow-down" mode 30 minutes) or i do a hardreset. I wonder if anyone else such of this problems with automator under 10.6
I tested the same things with my mac mini that i didnt upgraded and it works like expected.
I think you can reproduce the behaviour, if you create a new .rtf document with numbers from one to twelve and make a workflow where you mark 4 letters, cut, bring firefox to front, paste into form, go to .rtf, mark next 4 letters, cut, go to firefox, paste into form, doing that until there are no more letters.
very curious...

the whole automator and in particular the record action was substantially rewritten in snow leopard. and the record action is slow, unreliable and you can't trouble-shoot it. it's a wonder it works at all. the only advice i can give is to use it as little as possible. if at all possible avoid it altogether. if you do need to use it try using keyboard strokes instead of the mouse movement. for example. use command+c and command+v for copying and pasting and use tabbing to choose the correct box on the page.

PS5 Crashes in 32-bit Mode When Certain Actions Are run

Running PS5 under OS 10.6.3 on a dual quad core intel machine w/14GB of ram, files are stored on an internal drive. Some actions will crash photoshop in 32-bit mode but not 64-bit. Is there anything that I can do to track down the problem and fix it?

The actions in question do not call on any third party plugin-ins.

Apps are running slow since windows 10 update, facebook, solitaire etc.

Like most people I went through the lengthy process of updating to Windows 10 yesterday. The update went smoothly. The problem I am having is that the embedded solitaire games from the start menu are hanging and running very slow. Also, sad as it sounds, some of the games on facebook are also very juddery and slow. I have checked to make sure I havent got too many things running in the background but nothing changed. Anyone got any ideas?

Server processes across the network are running slow?

We have several processes which should be quick and simple and at the longest take 24hours to apply. We have a database running on a SQL server with an Access front end that is taking far too long on Fresh Build PCs to update. Sophos which is assigned by group policy to each PC once in the appropriate OU hasn't deployed and a distribution group took approximately 4-5 days to appear in the Global Address List.
The Global Address list did eventually update but even after a week the Database update and Sophos install have not yet gone through. Any help would be greatly appreciated as it has massively slowed my PC distribution process. The distribution group went through Exchange, Sophos is on Windows Server 2008 R2 and the Database is on an SQL server on Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacentre.

in case you are starting the ThinInstaller.exe application from network share "\\server\share\ThinInstaller.exe" then this is unfortunatelly currently not supported.
I do understand, that this is described in the PDF, but the designer was thinking far way ahead, and once this situation came, that it should be tested, then TI could not work correctly when started from network share.
So in this case there is only one solution and this is to copy the ThinInstaller application and files to local system and let the Repository on the netowrk share and use it this way.
I have tried in the past to convince some people to get this changed, but I was told, that this should be implemented into ThinInstaller soon
Hope this helps a bit, althouth it's not a fix.

The index structure is same in both systems also the tables
were analyzed with compute statistics.

What do you expect?! Oracle 9i and Oracle 8i are different particularly by optimizer cost-based(9i) and rule-based(8i) :)

Did you try to reset the device by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.

HT4718 I upgraded my OSX to Version 10.8.4 and all operations are running very slow, especially my online browsing. Anyone else have this problem, and can undo the update?

Start up in Safe Mode. Connect to your router with an ethernet cable, as your wifi may not work, and apply the 10.8.4 Combo update.

Hi venkat,
Few basic points need to be verify before you take any further action make sure they are correct.
i) Do the rsrv test make sure the object is consistem and have properly maintained.
2)Check the size of Dimention table of cube it can be seen by using the F.M i.e. SAP_INFOCUBE_DESIGNS, The ratio should be like 20 % of fact table.
3)Compress the data present in cube level this help in better read operations.
4)Do the house keeping check weekly like deleting the old psa request say 7 day old and deleting the change log table it will ease up some memory that u can check in DB02 before and after doing the house keeping act. This will increase the performnace.
5)make sure only important characteristic are there in rows all other characteristic should be moved to free charac in query designer.
6)Before doing any load to Infoprovider then do the practice of deliting the index before and load and creating th eindex after load.
7) Load master data frst then the transactional data.
8) if u have the dso under ur Mp then create the secondary indces on them.
9) Use suppress option for sum /result if not required.
10)Try restricting the query to particluar 0infoprovider if possible.
11)Check the db and statistic index make sure ther are created.
12) Go to rsrt check the infrpovider performance tab.
13) if required create the aggreagtes or Bi accel
14) use cache memory for query fetchuing the data.
Make sure u can check the above points get pass.
