Actions, artboard, pdf

Hi!
Im wokring with PDF-files with some drawings in it.
Working with Illustrator CS5.1
The pdf's originally artboard size is 2750mmx625mm and uses CMYK colors.
I also got artboard size 3000mmx600mm
I have about 50 pdf-files of those two sizes.
I want to first convert all files to RGB colors and then i want to crop them to 2700mmx600mm
with the reference-point to the left so the images just been cropped to the right in the image.
Then i want to save all pdf's into TIFF's with a resolution of like 10-72dpi/ppi
I've tried to add several different scaling,forming..etc functions but none of them works or are the correct ones.
If a record a new action and edit the values of size they are not recorded when i press stop
How is this possible to do with an action maybe it calls functionmacro?
I know i can play that action on several files then by adding them into a group.
/Anton (from Sweden)

I think you need someone to write a cript for you.
Or learn to do so yourself or visit the Illustrator Scripting Forum maybe they cn assist you.
Perhaps Carlos or Larry will stop by with one.

  • How can I add a picture to the Automator Action "Watermark PDF Documents.action"

Looks like a bug: under 10.7.2 i cannot add a picture to the Automator Action "Watermark PDF Documents.action".
    Works perfectly under 10.6.8.

Its a verified bug (Automator - Watermark PDF Documents).
    Please report to http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
As a workaround, if you saved the Action in SL, option-click the action, navigate to the file "document.wflow", open in TextEdit, search for the key "fileNames" and replace your old image with the new

  • Photoshop CS5 - Batch actions for PDF multipage files

    Good morning.
One of my customer bring me a pdf files composed by 147 pages.
Before I can print the whole file I had to remove a piece of the Header (common in every page at the same location) and a piece of the bottom left footer.
    What I did:
    - open a single page, create a new action -> select the area to be deleted, delete the content, select none, select the second area to be deleted, delete the area;
    - saved the action as "MyActionWillSaveMeLOTofTime";
    - File -> Automate -> Batch -> select folder with pdf file, select action and run
Surprise surprise, pdf is not a supported file for batch.
So I opened every single page (147!) with no-loss resolution (210x297mm @300dpi) (every file transformed into RASTER.... LOT OF TIME) than File->Automate->Batch->Action and Opened files as target.
This way it worked... but it takes like 2 hours to finish, and every file needed the OK confirmation to save the file.
After that I had to open Bridge CS5, select all saved files and put together again in a pdf.
    Result:
    - 2 hours of work with PC unable to perform any different action;
    - original pdf file 3.4MB -> final pdf file 98MB
I wonder if there is a way with Photoshop and Bridge CS5 to avoid the raster process on the pdf pages so I don't need to waste time to perform similar action, because it seems my custome have a ton of other similar files...
Or any other software that can do that (hopefully free, I can't buy an expensive program for that feature only).

    Hi,
    1. Why dont u try it in pdf itself?
U can just crop the required area in pdf file using crop tool so it can be applied for all the pages at a time.
    2. If u trying to remove particular area on a pdf u can place a white box on that area using pitstop tool it can be saved as actionlist like batch processing and applied for any number of pages and files.
Making this in pdf itself won't get u more file size. Size will be as equal as ur source file.

  • Automator Action 'New PDF Contact Sheet' returns a blank page

I'm running into some bugs with Automator again. Seems like with each major OS update, things in Automator gets fixed while other things break.
This time, the New PDF Contact Sheet action seems to have lost its functionality.
To recreate the issue, I created a new workflow that , tion input and feeds them right into the single action (new pdf contact sheet), which outputs them to the desktop as a PDF file.
Every time, the pdf file is just a single blank white page. Am I missing something here?
Why is such a basic thing getting borked?

It works for me.  Here's the workflow I setup:
If the application is open dropping a folder of photos on it won't work. I  get the blank doucment.  One has to use the File ➙ Open menu and select the folder of photos.

  • Extract Pages Action for PDFs

Has anyone used the Extract Odd/Even Pages action for PDFs? I'm trying to use it to extract pages from a PDF and save as separate files. When I use it the action spins for a moment, says it succeeded, but I don't get any new files.

I know of the java script method, just wondering why it can't be found as standard wizard tool ;-)
I have a java script to extract pages.
Is it possible to somehow create a droplet for it (as is possible with preflight profiles)?
    Thanks.

  • Resize action with pdf

I'm currently having problems with the batch feature regarding pdf files which I can't figure out. My main task is to automatically resize several (50+) pdf files in a folder, save them for web as jpg and then close the original file without saving it. I've tried to make an action for this, but I only end up getting errors or Photoshop trying to overwrite the same file all the time when saving the images.
I did manage to make a successful action which worked as batch if I had all the files open in Photoshop, but that's not really what I'm after since I then have to open all the 50+ files first manually. What I would want is for Photoshop to go through all the pdf files in my source folder - resize them - save for web - close original image wihtout saving.
I'm currently using Photoshop CS2 if that's any help.
Is there anyone who can help? A step-by-step solution would be greatly appreciated!

well, you're doing something wrong because that option should fix the problem with overwriting the same file over and over again

  • Adding Hyperlinks in Report shuould take action in PDF Output

    Hi All,
I had a requirement with reports
    Explanation of the requirement.
    I had a report aaa.rdf which gives a (one)employee monthly details.
which need to be output in PDF.
    now the requuirement is
I had added labels "next-month" and "previous-month" labels at either side of report title.
I need the code to kept in these labels such that when this report is executed and taken into PDF file, when user
user clicks on the "next-month" or "previous-month" in that PDF file, the action to take is it should re-ran the same report(aaa.rdf) and should display the output in PDF in the same window but now the output should show the
coressponding next-month or previous-month results respectively of that employee.
please let me know if this make sense.
please guide for the above requirement.
this is very very urgent your help will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    RRM

    Hi,
it is not too late ....
It's possible to add such Hyperlinks to the pdf-Output of a report.
With use of the built-in rw.set_hyperlink('hyperlink') in a format trigge you can realize that. "hyperlink" is for example then something like:
    '/reports/rwservlet?destype=cache&desformat=pdf&report=drilldetail.jsp&userid=scott/tiger@josi&p_deptno='||:deptno
In your case it's a call to the same report you run before and you had to set your month-parameter in the call depending your current month (next or previous).
With srw.set_hyperlink_attrs('string') it's possible to add additional attributes like for example
         srw.set_hyperlink_attrs('target=_new')
which opens a new browser window.
This works for HTML & PDF.

  • InDesign Button Action for PDF – Open File (in new window)

I am using the 'Open File' action on buttons in a document i am making which will eventually be a PDF, but am wanting to specify the button action to open the file (another PDF) in a new window.
I have found that I can achieve this and add button actions with this specific behavior in Acrobat, but it seems to be missing in indesign's abilities as far as I can see. Is there a way to do this in indesign so that i do not have to tinker in acrobat after I have made my PDF. As if I have changes to the PDF, all buttons then have to be totally re-done each time, and i will have possibly 900 buttons!!
    Thanks.
    (Using indesign CS4)

    Jeff,
You are correct. I want to have a DVD with multiple PDFs. The main one almost acting as a table of contents for the rest.
Problem = the 'main one' is 62 pages long, many hundred buttons and every page has at least a few of these links needed.
Which means, if you are correct (and I believe you are, hope you aren't) that I need to custom code these buttons in Acrobat.
The method is easy, but x300 = painful. And then the kicker... Boss says, 'Change slide 30' ... which means: Back to InDesign, Export to PDF, Recode ALL BUTTONS.
*Note, there are some 'interactive' buttons with roll over states. So I don't think replacing the pages would work.

  • Is it possible having excel actions like pdf?

    Hi,
    i found excel.jar file for jre 1.4.
does Importing excel jar file  into MII give some excel action  in workbench like pdf action?
    Thanks.

You could create custom actions using the Apache POI libraries at http://poi.apache.org, and it would be quite do-able to create a set of actions to create a spreadsheet, a tab, and populate cells.

  • Unable to print a PDF file using the BI Publishing server

    Hi,
    I have a BI publisher server version 10.1.3.4.2 on W2K3 43 bit.
I can access through the url that server.
From my desktop I access through an url my Oracle APEX application.
    It has been configures with:
    Report Printing:
Print Server Protocol: Advanced (requires Oracle BI Publisher)
    Print Server Protocol: HTTP
Print Server Host Address: the IP address of my BI Publisher server
Print Server POrt: 9704 (from instllation of BI)
    Print Server Script: /xmlpserver/convert
On the page I want to print, it is configured with:
    Download:
    PDF option is checked.
When I click on Action -> Download -> PDF for this page, I get the error:
<file>. pdf file can not be opened because the file type is not supported or because it is damaged (because, for example as an e-mail attachment is not sent and correctly decoded)
Does someone has an idea what the problem is and where I should investigate further?
    Thanks by advance for tips.
    Kind Regards.

If you are trying to print to the Adobe PDF printer and that fails, try using print-to-file. Then open the file in Distiller. If the result is the desired PDF, then check for AcroTray running as a background application. Sometimes it has to be restarted, but should be in your startup (you can check msconfig from the start>run menu to see if AcroTray is there).

  • How to read data from writable PDF Form?

    Hi,
I need some help for the web site that I am working on.
This is asp.net website. Client is requesting to provide writeable PDF forms on this website for download.
These forms will be downloaded by customers, they will fill in the required data on these forms save it and upload the forms back on the website.
Once uploaded we need to read whtever client has written in these forms and update in the database (SQL server).
I have been going through adobe web site and lot of other web sites to understand this concept (as i have never done this).
What I understood is, with Adobe LiveCycle designer and forms we can create writeable forms.
However I have not got any idea or seen any documentation on how do I read the data that user has typed on these forms.
This reading the data from pdf and saving into sql server, I have to do it in asp.net app.
Could anyone please help me understand how to achieve this.
Thanks a lot for you time.

    How do we do that?
Just to clarify myself, I am not putting any button on PDF to invoking submit action from PDF. I am allowing user to upload the pdf and they click submit button on my aspx page.
Are you saying that when user submits the aspx page there is a wasy to retrieve the data in the form of XML or name/value pair on this aspx submit? if so please send me some pointers/examples or let me know how to do this? Is there any additonal tools/software that we will need to buy from adobe for this?
    thanks for you time!

  • How can I create a PDF contact sheet of photos in finder

I'm trying to create an automator workflow/action (or service) that will allow me to select a set of photos in the finder and then create a PDF contact sheet that will include the Photo filename. I know that I can select photos and open in preview, but these do not include the filename with the photo in the saved PDF.
I'm a newbie with Automator, but i gave it a try myself.
In the Automator PDF Library, there is an action called "New PDF contact sheet", however I can't seem to be able to get it to work. I dragged that action to the workflow and then added "Get Selected Finder Items" before that.
It appears to run it--an "application"/window appears titled "MakePDF" and it appears to run through the selected photos. However, at the end (after it asks for the file name to save it with), it says that "The action “New PDF Contact Sheet” encountered an error--check the actions properties and try running the workflow again".
What am I leaving out of the workflow?

There is a bug in the *New PDF Contact Sheet* action in that it is looking for the Leopard version of a file that moved and changed in Snow Leopard.
Snow Leopard has a newer version of a support application MakePDF.app in the */System/Library/Image Capture/Automatic Tasks* folder, but as mentioned the *New PDF Contact Sheet* action seems to still require the older version of the application, which in Leopard is located in the */System/Library/Image Capture/Tools* folder. If you have access to a Leopard installation, you can copy the MakePDF.app from Leopard and place it into the same location in Snow Leopard (/System/Library/Image Capture/Tools) - this will get the action working again.

  • I use FF 3.6.18 and don't want to upgrade. I used to be able to click on a PDF link and FF would ask ne if I wanted to view or download. I clicked something in the download window and now I don't get the View option. How do I get this feature back?

  • How can I view .pdf files in a Firefox window?

When I click on a .pdf link, Firefox downloads the file to my desktop. This is fine.
Sometimes, however, I would prefer that Firefox simply open the .pdf document in a new window. I know it used to work this way, but it stopped some time ago. How can I control this behavior?
I looked in Preferences > Applications and selected on "pdf". Two entries showed up under "Content Type":
    "Preview.app Document (application/po..."
    and
    "Portable Document Format (PDF)".
Both entries have the same "Action": "Use PDF Browser Plugin 2.4.4 (in Firefox)"
Oops. I just figured it out. The PDF entry (only) has an extra pulldown option under Action: "Preview in Firefox". I tried it and it works!
I guess the old PDF Browser Plugin 2.4.4 must've quit working some time ago.

We're good here, thanks. I went ahead and posted in case someone else had the same problem.
Although... if you know how I might clean out that now-obsolete PDF Browser Plugin 2.4.4, I'd appreciate the tip.

  • (Streaming) Video in PDF Functionality? and other fun things.

    Hi guys,
I'm creating an internal nationwide newsletter for my company Opening in Full Screen. I've have a four minute video introduction from the chairman at the top of the page.
The Plan in theory is that the user will read the blurb then click on the poster of the video.
Then the video should open in a floating video (in the middle of the screen) and play automatically. And close when finished.
I've just used the insert video action in PDF. Used "clicked on content" floating window. Auto hide controls.
    My problems are:
The floating window always appears in the top right, there is no setting on how to correct this.
The video doesn't automatically play. You have to move the mouse over the window to unhide the controls and press play on what look to be a blank window. Once the window opens id really like the video to start playing. then once its finished for the movie to close.
Also on some machines the timeline bar on the player has a bright green hatch across it. The video plays fine. I just want to know what it is.
From the research ive done, it seems this could be possible to do all in flash and insert a floating swf with the video.
But im quite a basic user in flash. So im looking for advice/help/moral support or just a nudge in the right direction.
Im using adobe pro extend 9.1. Ive got a flv 320x240 with is stream from my companies internal web server.
    Chris

You can do this by using embedded Flash/Flex content in the PDF.  Write or otherwise acquire a simple video player in Flex that points to your company internal webserver, and then embed that Flex app in your PDF as a Rich Media annotation instead of the video itself.
