Actions for making a video player

May I ask if anyone knows of an action to create a cool looking video player?
I have a product that includes a number of video tutorials and I want to be able to represent each tutorial with a cool looking video player with a thumbnail of the corresponding video.
This is similar to the idea of making an ebook cover out of an image...except instead of a book cover I want a video player and instead of an image I'll use a screen capture from each video.

In case you want to add, change, or rearrange any of your individual pieces, I would recommend encoding each as a separate sequence from FCP. Compressor will make it pretty easy to set up a whole batch export. These can be placed into a single track in DVDSP, which you can then make different playlists with stories, but as soon as you find the typo in the credits of the last 20-second short, You'll be very glad you don't have to encode the whole 2 hours again.
hope this helps -

    I have been looking for a solution for making my videos capable of playing on anything such as: DVD player, Mac, PC, etc. I have not found a format that will play with all of these. Is there a format, software, or do you encode it? I am new to production. I can make a video and make it work for a certain thing just not all.

    There is no such thing as universal format and that is that. You are looking for the magic pearl that doesn't exist and rather than waste your time on a futile search, it would be better to actually read up on the various formats and their limitations, including how playback devices may or may not support this and that.

  • Audio formats suitable for making song videos on iPad's iMovie...

    Hello to all!
    I need to know what audio formats work best [sample rate] for making song videos on my iPad's iMovie.
    Thanks in advance.

    Unfortunately the answer to your question is ... No. you cant make the built in music App work the same way that is does on the iPhone. I have no clue why Apple decided to do it this way but they did.
    I don't use any of them, but there are other Music apps available for the iPad. You may want to look into one of those. Here are a few of them. You can search for more.

    Hi Chris,
    thanks for your tip. I didn't get around to trying it, as I have just solved the problem:
    Unless I misunderstand how things are supposed to work, I think I also might have found a bug (or at a minimum an usability issue):
    When I talked about having relaxed all the local storage settings in my original post, I meant that in the System Preferences / Flash Player / Storage pane I had set "Allow sites to save information on this computer". I also had done some experimention around the "Ask me" and "Settings by Site" options - all without success. I had navigated to that pane by right-clicking on "Global Settings" from the non-working video players.
    However, just now I discovered the following: When I navigate to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.htm l (the embedded Global Storage Settings Panel) I found that in fact "Allow third-party Flash content to store date on your computer" was disabled all along!
    So effectively, the System Preferences Pane and the Global Settings Manager were not in sync / had conflicting settings and it looks like the Global Settings Manager took precedence. When I enabled local storage in the Global settings manager, things started working immediately.
    This is extremely easily reproducable by the way: Just change some settings in the Global Settings Manager and then right click "Global Settings" within it and the Preference Pane coming up will be in conflict with the settings manager.
    (Even if this is somehow by design, its quite confusing)
    Hope this helps future readers with the same issue. Also, this is an issue in 11.3 Beta 2, so maybe your teams can still fix this for 11.3
    Thanks,
    Jens

  • Am looking for a good video player for IOS 4.1

    Hello all. Have an IPhone 3GS for which I am looking for a good (free) video player? Any recommendations?

    There certainly is... a video player has been included with every version of iOS.
    In iOS4 all media is accessed via the iPod app.  iOS5 and later seperates audio and video into two apps, "Music" and "Video".

  • Camera settings for making youtube videos

    I have a Canon 60D and CS4 master collection with Premiere Pro and Encore.  What settings should I shoot video at in order to get the best youtube output?    My choices are 1920x1080-30; 1920x1080-24; 1280x720-60; 640x480-60; crop-640-60

    Thanks Bill, that's a most honest answer.  I also found this tv segment to help in the camera settings.  http://tv.adobe.com/watch/shooting-and-editing-hdslr-video-using-adobe-tools/-setting-up-t he-camera-correctly-for-dslr-video/  This is most exciting challenge and a healthy switch from my traditional photo skills.

  • Is it usefull to buy Final Cut Pro X for making music video's or not?

    Right now I'm using iMovie 11. I can put the audio an the video togheter and stuff but thats kinda it... So if I wan't to use more effects and stuff should I buy this?

    I think FCPX is very good for short-form work like music videos, and definitely a big upgrade to iMovie. Additionally, the interface is similar so you'd have less of a learning curve.
    There's a ton of hidden power though, and you probably would need to follow some tutorials and/or read instructional material in order to really be able to use the software efficiently, and understand what it has to offer. Many people have given high praise to Ripple Training; there's also some free training available at: http://www.izzyvideo.com/final-cut-pro-x-tutorial/ that can get your feet wet, so to speak. And I know Mr. Wolsky is working on a book that would be great to have, once it comes out.
    At the moment, there are still a bunch of bugs that need to be ironed out, which you can read about on this forum. If you are willing to deal with a beta-quality product that has lots of potential, I'd say go for it. The most important thing to remember is to have a way of backing up your projects so that in the event you are hit with the worst of the bugs, you can still recover work.

  • Export 4k video for Facebook native video?

    Hi All,
    I am trying to export a 4k video to upload on facebook for its native video player.
    I have converted to mp4 the best suggested format but a crackling sound comes with it.
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks.

    Whether a 3.5mm "mini" jack or the older, larger 1/4" "phone" jack, the plug or "jack" can be either mono or stereo. A mono jack has a single "main" post for the sound signal, with an insulator near the end and a second bit of isolated metal for the tip as the "ground". A stereo jack has two sections in the "main" part, with a thin insulator between them, and the insulated tip ground.
    The socket the plug fits in can also be either stereo or mono. A mono socket will have only one post touching the main stem of the plug for signal, and a second post touching the tip for the ground. A stereo plug will have two posts touching the stem, one to receive left channel signals, one to receive right channel, and of course a third for the ground.
    If you look at the parts, you'll see that a standard mono plug will deliver signal to both left & right posts of the standard stereo socket. Most mono mics are wired this way. These you'll probably never need think about.
    The situation you're dealing with is that your mic is mono but uses a stereo jack, and is only wired to deliver to one channel ... which can be both useful and a total pain, depending on how well you're set up to utilize the options this can provide. Depending on adapters & cords, you can change this to deliver the same signal to both L & R, or you can use this mic and another one to deliver separate mics one to the left channel & another to the right channel, effectively giving you a second input on the one "channel".
    But what bits do you need?
    A stereo to mono adapter plug would take your current plug in one end, take the signals from "both" channels, combine & deliver that to a mono plug on the output end ... plug you mic into this, plug it into your recorder, and instantly your mic is being input into both channels of your recorder as this sort of adapter has a mono plug on it's output end. This is probably the simplest part to get you up & running now. Any local shop that sells electronic bits & pieces, like a shop for guitars & such, will have these in-stock and they're cheap.
    I also just got a couple mics that are mono but use a stereo jack with one channel "dark" ...dead ... unused. I'll be getting some adapters myself, probably just gaffer tape the things together.

  • Create a video player for embedded FLV

    So I want to embed a FLV in my flash so that I just have ONE SWF that contains everything.
    I know if I say "load external video with playback component" I will end up with a swf, html and the flv- this is NOT what I want so please don't ask me why I'm not using this option.
    "Embed FLV in SWF and play in timeline" is EXACTLY what I want- the result is just a single SWF.
    Here is the question: How do I get a video player if I embed a FLV in flash?
    I know if I load the video external I will get some nice players - exactly what I want. How do I get a player if the video is embedded? Are there any coded player templates on the net? I couldn't find anything on google I could use but I've to admit I'm not too good at AS.
    Thanks A LOT for your help

    Not sure if this will work. Embed the FLV into a movie clip and in the expanded propertied check export for action script. Then you may be able to call the movie clip from the content path in the FLV video component.

  • Flash player controls (for live streaming video) frozen...

    Hello,
    Lion, Flash Player, and CNN's live-video player are not playing together nicely on our 2010 MBP 13". In fact, they're not playing.
    Have tried the latest suggested fix, which is to right click on the errant video stream, then disable hardware acceleration. Unfortunately, right clicking brings up a "frozen" settings box. None of the buttons can be clicked, not even cancel.
    Have accessed Flash Player through the Control Panel, but there is no switch there for hardware acceleration.
    Bottom line, am now unable to view live video content from CNN and others.
    Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash. Have tried Safari, Firefox and Chrome. And am not a step closer to a solution. Was hopeful that today's install of Lion would set things right, but alas...
    Your suggestions greatly appreciated.

    About a half-hour after making the changes I outlined above, and long after I closed the active Safari window, noticed that my MBP was uncharacteristically hot. Extremely hot!
    Opened Activity Monitor and saw that Flash Player was still running (?) and using a tremendous amount of system resources. I then quit Safari altogether. Within moments, the heat began to subside.
    May be something you want to keep an eye on...

  • Photo browser and Video player for E52

    The photo browser and video player that comes with E52 is basic.
    Does anyone know where to get a better photo browser and MP4 player?
    I had downloaded AIBO player but it won't install due to expire license date.
    thanks.

    its not that they cant but thatt ehy wel cant. its VERY VERY super complicated on making a fimrware for an mp3 player as it requires the info on hardware and lots of time and the player need to support it. the zen sleek is not popular enough for someone to make it for it and it would be illegal as if would have cracking the firmware which is illegal. but making a complelety new one and without stealing info not sure but it might be legal. i VERY OH SO highly doubt there will be video for sleek photo.

  • Download link custom action for video files

    Hi,
    I have a requirement for adding a custom action called "DOWNLOAD A COPY" in search results hover panel on click of which will download copy for the user. I am able to implement this for pdf, excel and word files but not for generic and video files
    types since ctx.CurrentItem object is not having any property pointing to the item URL. Can someone please help me in getting this property for video and generic file types.
    Thanks a lot in advance!
    SharepointLearner

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to custom action for context menu in "Site Content and Structure" in SharePoint 2010.
    In "SiteManager.aspx", SharePoint use MenuItemTemplate class which represent a control that creates an item in a drop-down menu.
    For example, to create or delete the ECB menu for a list item in
    "Site Content and Structure", we can follow the steps below:
    To add the “My Like” menu, we can add the code below:
    <SharePoint:MenuItemTemplate
    UseShortId=false
    id="OLListItemLike"
    runat="server"
    Text="My Like"
    ImageUrl="/_layouts/images/DelItem.gif"
    ClientOnClickNavigateUrl="https://www.google.com.hk/"
    />
    To remove the “Delete” menu, we can comment the code below:
    <SharePoint:MenuItemTemplate
    UseShortId=false
    id="OLListItemDelete"
    runat="server"
    Text="<%$Resources:cms,SmtDelete%>"
    ImageUrl="/_layouts/images/DelItem.gif"
    ClientOnClickScript="%SmtObjectDeleteScript%"
    />
    The result is as below:
    More information:
    MenuItemTemplate Class (Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls)
    MenuItemTemplate.ClientOnClickScript property (Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls)

  • Can the video player for FlashDVD be configured to show download progress?

    The video I'm using for a FlashDVD is about 1GB in f4v format, so it takes awhile to fully download. It's choppy until it's fully downloaded. It would be nice if the video player used for FlashDVDs showed the progress of the background dowloading of the video, the same way that all other video players do.
    Is this configurable, or is it showing, but the colors are so subtle that I can't see it?
    Can this be configured so I can see a clear progress for the download?

    I'm guessing, but my guess is "no." I am assuming it is not present currently.
    Configuring the progress bar ends up with code in the swf. It COULD be made configurable by putting variables for the code in the theme.xml, but it is not.

  • Use same player for images and video

    Greetings,
    I am working on a media player using Flash Pro CS4. I am
    totally new to Flash, but I do have experience coding in C#. I have
    included a URL to a media player used by the UFC. I'm trying to
    figure out how they have a single media player that allows you to
    display either an image or have the next selection in line be a
    video that plays. I did find a tutorial on in the Flash Developers
    Center on how to create a dynamic video player with an XML
    back-end, which is very helpful, but it only covers using video. If
    anyone could help me out by pointing me in the right direction, I
    would greatly appreciate it.

    So fair warning, what you're asking for isn't really a supported deployment method of CRM.
    That said, you should be able to do some DNS trickery internal to your network that points your "crm.domain.com" to "crm.domain.local" and then hopefully CRM will treat the connection as if it came from an internal network.
    Otherwise, you're likely going to have to accept that everyone gets the ADFS login page internal and external to your network.
