ActionScript 3: WebService calls failing

Hi guys,
I am working on a Flash CS3/AS3 application that calls a server-side web service to retrieve/update data in the database. The code is simple and it works
great. However, some users are reporting that while browsing through this Flash application their web service calls are failing and thus no data gets
stored in the database. I am assuming probably a connection to the server gets lost while they are browsing. In this case the fault function also isn't
called. Is there a way to detect this kind of error? Should I check and reinitialize the web service before making another web service call? Does anyone
have any clue of what might be happening? Below is my code. Let me know if I am missing anything in the code.
Thanks
Code:
var ws:WebService = new WebService();
ws.wsdl = "http://localhost/Service.asmx?wsdl";
ws.addEventListener("result", resultHandler);
ws.addEventListener("fault", faultHandler);
ws.loadWSDL();
ws.RetrieveData(id);

Hi Roger,
I am experiencing a similar situation where a flash CS3/AS3 application using a similar code is calling a server side web service to retrieve/update data in the database. For some reason either a connection to the server gets lost or the web service call isn't successful and thus the fault function isn't called. Since you have asked this question a while back, I just wanted to know if you were able to resolve this issue?

  • Webservice call failed during execution (SSL and certificates) on NetWeaver 7.30

    Hey experts,
    i need your help!
    We make webservice calls to sap me with our own software.
    We connect to our software via SSL and certificates e.g. https://host:50001/XMII/CM/POD/MEDialogsWeb.irpt
    At the beginning the software runs without any problems and than we become the following message on all our webservice:
    thats the webservice configurations
    (configuration - connectivity - single service administration):
    (configuration - security - authentication and single sign-on)
    if we restart the software after the error display, the webservice call runs successfully again.
    is it a timeout?
    can anybody help us?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    the authentication for the second call is failing. Have you tried suggest log level from note 880896 - Web Service authentication failure? I would also try to use something like SoapUI to test if the issue is caused by your application or something wrong on SAP side. Also coparing messages for the first and second calls might give you answer.

  • WebService Call Fails for Communication Users

    Hi
    I am calling a BAPI through web service in VB.NET windows application.
    The application works fine with Dialog users but when I use Communication User then it thows this message.
    The Request Failed with HTTP Status 401: Unauthorized
    Where as if i call the same BAPI through RFC with for this Communication User it is successful.
    What can be the reason ?
    Regards
    Rajendra

    The Web Service uses the HTTP protocol, whereas the BAPI is using RFC protocol.
    The reason for the "unauthorized" error in HTTP is that you need to embed the user / password combination into the web service URL (assuming you have set the Web Service authentication method to user / password).
    Regards,
    D.

    Hello Shridhar, I guess you can  use use different user for authentication and user data inside XML request.
    In MII, I have used MESYS for authentication and other user name inside the request XML. But you need to make sure user name inside XML has ME_Integrator role.
    <me:UserId>USERID</me:UserId>
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

    This detailed step-by-step guide was produced with the following article by Jason Price http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/price_10gws.html

    Success!!!
    I had to grant this permissions:
    call dbms_java.grant_permission( 'WS_TEST', 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'getClassLoader', '' );
    call dbms_java.grant_permission( 'WS_TEST', 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'accessClassInPackage.sun.util.calendar', '' );
    call dbms_java.grant_permission( 'WS_TEST', 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'setFactory', '' )
    call dbms_java.grant_permission( 'WS_TEST', 'SYS:java.util.PropertyPermission', 'HTTPClient.socket.idleTimeout', 'write' );
    call dbms_java.grant_permission( 'WS_TEST', 'SYS:java.net.SocketPermission', 'localhost', 'resolve' );
    call dbms_java.grant_permission( 'WS_TEST', 'SYS:java.net.SocketPermission', '127.0.0.1:8084', 'connect,resolve' );
    As I wrote earlier, WS_TEST is my user into which I load JAX-RPC client. Note that, if you load JAX-RPC client into user another than SYS, you have NOT to use -s -grant public option (wassam wrote about this too). Another thing is that I (finally) didn't load OC4J. To consume WebService I use utl_dbws.invoke(call_Handle CALL, request SYS.XMLTYPE) function.

  • Web services Connection_Operations.Logon call fails on Data Services 4.0

    Hello,
    We recently installed Data Services 4.0.  We have a custom Java app which makes use of the web services interface.  We had previously used Axis to generate the java class.  With DS 4, it looks like the Logon method did change as it now requires the cms system and authentication.  We manually updated the java classes to includes these, which has been our general approach in the past for newer releases.  However DS 4 uses Axis2 and I'm not sure that this approach would work.
    My problem is that the "Logon" call fails with very little details.
    In viewing  both the webadmin.log  and WebService.log it only reports the following:
    11/02/2011 18:42:17 [  SEVERE ] Logon failed.  Error: null
    I understand that I can control the logging detail .  The Integrator Guide for DS 4.0, has the following instruction, yet there is no log4j.properties file on my system?
    "To control the level of detail in the webadmin.log file, you must edit the log4j.properties file.
    The properties file is located in:
    LINK_DIR\ext\webserver\webapps\acta_web_admin\WEB-INF
    To obtain a debug trace of events, change the log level from the default of INFO to DEBUG. For example,
    log4j.rootLogger=DEBUG, A"
    Any advise would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

    Hello,
    Unfortunately, stdout.log below doesn't show anything possibly due to some mis-configuaration of log4j.properties.  In my previous post I requested info on which log4j.properties should be modified as the documentation in the DS 4.0 Integrator's guide mentions a none-existent path?

  • SOAP Adapter recvr.CC unable to call, call failed

    Hi,
    i'm doing the IDoc to SOAP Scenario for Vendor Master. Sender CC is IDoc Adapter & Receiver CC is SOAP Adapter. Sending the vendor data(SAP ECC) to third party(through WebService) system. In the recv.CC,
    in the Connection Parameters>Target URL->i've given the URL given by third party (which is working fine when i open in explorer), & below in Conversion Parameters>SOAP Action also i've given. After sending the vendor from ECC by BD14, it is not received in Webservice.
    In the Runtime Workbench,
    Component Monitoring-->Communication Channel Monitoring
    --> for my recv.SOAP CC, it is showing the error as:
    MsgID:----
    Explanation
    98719886-dbc5-194c-9da7-0cfe8d77082c call failed
    98719886-dbc5-194c-9da7-0cfe8d77082c request entering
    URL is working fine in the browser.
    SOAP Action is rightly given.
    Webservice not requires any logon data, so not configured User Authentication.
    No Proxy settings we are using.
    How to verify about firewall and ports to send SOAP message out of XI Box or network
    Any other settings or configurations i've to do in XI system?
    what might be the reason for this error. Experts pls help in resolving the same.
    rgds,
    balu

    hi,
    thanks for the quick reply..

  • Web service Call failed

    Hi,
    When I try to post some messages to Web service, Follwing Error displayed is the Receiver SOAP communication channel,
    No description available except the following message
    Requet entering and Call failed.
    What could be the problem?
    How can test the connectivities between XI server and Web server?

    Hi,
    Just check the link. This describes the step by step method for webservice to file. May be it will be helpful for you.

  • XI AF API call failed. Module exception: Java Mapping

    Hi Experts,
    I have faced a typical error for one of my interface. The Scenario is SOAP to SOAP and we are performing SOAP Lookup  before sending the data to Target web service. We are using one Java Mapping  'FileIns_lookupLoad.java --- com/fi/' and performing the SOAP Lookup from within the code. In the Lookup Communication channel we are using 'Axis' as message protocol and passing couple of values through Module Key parameters. We have same ESR and ID objects in Development, Quality and Production (as per Version ID and History).
    Now the problem is Lookup is failing only in Development but Quality and Production is working fine. I have replaced Quality CC URL with the development WSDL URL, but that worked fine. That means Development Web Service is good. We are getting the below error in Dev:
    <SAP:Stack>StreamTransformationException triggered by application mapping program com/fi/FileIns_lookupLoad; Look Up Failed</SAP:Stack>

    I have already checked with Basis and as per them JDK and Java versions are identical in Dev, QAS and Prod. It seems something is wrong with 'XI AF API' which we are calling from the channel. If we totally ignore Lookup process and send direct data, it is working fine. Target CC is also using Axis.
    Sequence in CC: afreq ->xireq ->wssec2 ->xires ->afres
    For any more information please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Nabendu.

  • SOAP: call failed: java.io.EOFException

    Hi all,
    I have build a proxy to soap scenario that generates errors during runtime. The scenario
    consists of an ABAP program consuming a webservice through PI. The communication
    channel shows the following errorlog:
    - Message processing started
    - request entering
    - SOAP: call failed: java.io.EOFException: Connection closed by remote host.
    - Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.
    MessagingException: java.io.EOFException: Connection closed by remote host.
    Does anyone know the cause of this error?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ivo

    Hi Ravi,
    although I was able to reach the URL through a webbrowser, this problem was indeed caused by unavailability of the webservice. I just tried the connection without making any changes in PI and everything is working fine now.
    Case closed.

    Ivo

  • Making a REST webservice call. Error code: 401 Access to the requested resource is not allowed

    Hi All,
    I’m having a hard time figuring out how to make Rest WebService calls.
    I tried executing this directly through browser and I get an error.
    http:localhost:8080/rest/bean/atg/userprofiling/ProfileServices/loginUser?arg1=[email protected]&arg2=Password

    From the documentation I understand that I need to create a session, is the session only necessary to access secured components since this
    particular method “ProfileServices.loginUser “ has been declared as not secure in restSecurityConfiguration.xml
    Also, are there two different ways in which I can log in
    1.       Using RestSession.createSession providing the username and password.
    2.       Or using ProfileServices.loginUser or ProfileFormHandler
      Can someone please clarify

    If you are invoking the REST web-service from a Java client then you can create a RestSession object using the createSession method. But in your case you seem to be invoking it with a HTTP request which by default would be treated as a GET request by ATG's REST implementation. Therefore being a GET, it would try to fetch a property "loginUser" from /atg/userprofiling/ProfileServices component (based on your URL) which would always fail.
    To invoke loginUser() method of ProfileServices with your passed argument you need to tell ATG's REST system to treat your incoming request not as GET but as a POST request which you can do using  atg-rest-http-method control parameter in your request like this
    http:localhost:8080/rest/bean/atg/userprofiling/ProfileServices/loginUser?arg1=[email protected]&arg2=Password&atg-rest-http-method=POST
    It should work this way provided your restSecurityConfiguration.xml is proper.
