ActionScript version question?

Hi, I need to make a flash game using action script and i have read some tutorials about it, most of them are using actionscript 2.0.
My question is, what do you think can happen if I use actionscript 2.0 instead of 3.0.
I mean, would it work correctly in the current browsers? sorry for asking this, maybe is a silly question, but flash and AS is not my everyday working tool.
I know that since actionscript3.0 is newer have some advantages, but since I dont have much time to do it, i´ll prefer to make it in AS 2.0 since i understand it better than AS 3.0.
If you have any comment, please let me know i will really appreciate it!
Thanks!

The Flash Player supports all versions of actionscript so if you are able to use AS2 to complete the design you should not have any problem.

    I just bought Flash 8 Pro, and discovered that the

    evidently.
    Will we be able to update the ActionScript version in our

    probably not. but you can download flash 9 alpha (or maybe
    it's beta by now) for free. search google for a link.

  • Multiple Software Versions Question

    Rookie question here.  My organization recently purchased a new copy of InDesign CS6 for me and one other employee.  We did NOT purchase Creative Cloud subscriptions, but hard copy licenses.  The software is working great and we love your product.  The problem we are having is in regards to other people in our organization trying to open our newly created InDesign Documents (CS6) with their older version of the software (CS5).  We do NOT have the option to upgrade the CS5 software licenses, so what are our options for those employees with CS5 to be able to view and edit documents created in CS6?  I'm assuming there is a way to save the CS6 documents as older versions, correct?  We all operate Windows PC's.  I greatly appreciate your help.

    @Todd – the only way saving back is exporting to IDML from CS6 and open the IDML in CS5.
    If this is a reliable workflow is questionable. You have to proofread the opened IDML in CS5. I recommend to export to PDF from CS6 as well and compare the PDF with the opend IDML in CS5.

  • Acrobat.exe product version question

    Hi
    Does anyone know of a link in Adobe where it shows every product version number for all acrobat.exe they have produced?
    Basically i just want to be able to see which version of the file is a professional and standard version. (Based on the file product number).
    eg. Acrobat.exe product number 8.1.0.2007051100 is a professional version.
    Thanks
    DM

    I think there is a list, but the problem is it may vary based on the source and version as I recall a comment before. Anyway, the fastest way of getting the information is still probably to run the program, using one with Pro and one with Std. Sorry that I can't be more helpful, but the last time I saw a question about these numbers the answer was rather mixed and indicated it varied with the source of the product and several other factors. I don't really know more.

  • Process and Form version question

    a few questions related to the versions of Forms and Processes:
    1) in WorkSpace, launch a process, then put the form in "Draft".
    then modify its XDP, the form gets a new version in the repository.
    what's going to happen to my Draft?
    when I launch the Draft again, will it use the new version or old version of the XDP?
    2) launch a process, starts the workflow,
    before the workflow completes,
    (say, it has 5 user tasks, only 3 users have processed it)
    I update the process map and/or the forms.
    will that unfinished process instance follow the new workflow map? or the old?
    3) when there are unfinished 'running' process instances in the system,
    I deactivate the process.
    what's going to happen to those unfinished instances?
    will they still be able to complete?
    4) when there are unfinished process instances in the system,
    but I don't want anybody to launch any new instances from WorkSpace,
    how do I do that?
    do I remove its "TaskManager" endpoint? or?
    thanks
    James

    1)Itll re-render the form so it will take the latest version from the repository.
    2)It will follow the original process. Only initiating new processes will follow new process map. As for the forms, the new version will take effect immediately.
    3a)what's going to happen to those unfinished instances?
    Theyll stay in a running state in the database
    3b)will they still be able to complete?
    Not until you re-activate the process.
    4)Yes you can remove/disable the endpoint.

  • Version question - v1.4.1_02-b06

    Hi all,
    Quick question - could someone confirm if the above runtime environment is a beta version, or full release?
    I've tried searching the java site to no avail - if anyone can help it would be very much appreciated!
    Cheers,

    That's not a beta version. The 'b' stands for build, not beta.

  • IMovie Version Questions

    I've read with interest the issues regarding iMovie8 and regret just having purchsed a new iMac, primarily to upgrade from an old iMovie4 version. The inability to export back to tape (that was Apple tech advice for best means of storage!). Based on reading posts, iMovie6 addresses some issues, but I have two questions for those of you knowledgeable about this situation:
    1-I read somewhere in the many chains that any version of iMovie past 4 (that I have) will no longer "pass through" analog signals from a camera (in my case Sony) and convert to digital: that is exactly what I've been doing over the last several years with older analog tapes (Hi8) of our kids. So, does this mean if I go even to iMovie6 I'll be unable to digitize video from those old tape? If so, I'm completely boxed in.
    2-With older iMovie versions, the transfer back to tape has worked perfectly. But, with iMovie4, I find that as it goes back to tape on the camera, there are occasional "freezes"--the image stops for a fraction of a second or a second or two. And that freeze is on the tape version (even though the movie itself on the computer is fine. Has anyone had this issue with any version of iMovie that still allows transfer back to tape.
    I'm feeling very abused...potentially unable to use old analog tapes with iMovie6, unable to transfer back with iMovie8, and the transfers are not working well with iMovie4. Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks for your several responses. Based on your comments, iMovie6 should be ok for both analog pass through my Sony directly into iMovie, and to transfer back to tape. Others had indicated that the analog pass through was not operative after 4, but you're doing exactly what I'm asking about. Based on all comments I've read, neither analog pass through nor transfer back to tape will work in iMovie 8. I guess I'll proceed, and download iMovie6 as others seem to have done...although I've seen some issues with running 6 when 8 is on the computer. Thanks again.

  • Adobe CS6 ESD (download) Version Question

    Hello community
    Many places like B&H for example offer a download version of Adobe CS6 istead of an install CD ROM.
    My question:
    1.) if I'm right I have the possibility to install CS6 on 2 PC's (not using simultaniously). Will I have this possibility too
    with the download Version (ESD)?
    2.) What if I'd buy a new Computer, could I reinstall the programm with the same activation code, as I believe I could
    withe the CD ROM
    --> are there any disatvantanges withe the ESD Version?
    I appreciate your help! Thank you!

  • Version question.

    Dear All,
    I have refered this link (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/index-091111.html#Application_Servers)
    We have licence copy of wls server 10.3.2 and so can only use jdeveloper 11.1.1.2.x only for development right..? So new versions of jdeveloper is not compatible with the wls server we have.. So is there any upgrade patches available for standalone wls server ?? so we can do development in latest version of jdeveloper .. if yes then is it free or we have to pay for it ?
    Also one more question.
    The ADF application developed in jdeveloper 11.1.1.2.x will be compatible with the future releases of jdev 11g (i.e example jdev 11.1.1.4.x) ?
    Regards,
    Santosh
    by the way happy easter..

    Hi Santosh.
    Regards upgrading WLS, yes, patches are available from Oracle Support for 10.3.2->10.3.3->10.3.4.
    In terms of JDev versions vs WLS versions, it's a question of support and certification. At it's simplest ADF 11.1.1.2.0 works with WLS 10.3.2, 11.1.1.3.0 with 10.3.3, 11.1.1.4.0 with 10.3.4. You can learn more about the certification matrix here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/index-091111.html (see the application server section).
    As for payment, this isn't my area of expertise, but I believe if you have a license for 10.3.2 and a support contract with Oracle you are entitled to a free upgrade.
    Regarding your last question on future compatibility, you cannot guarantee this to it's ultimate extreme (say 11.1.1.2.0 to 15.4.3.2), but yes, there is a level of forward compatibility. We've currently three 11.1.1.2.0 applications that are in the process of being upgraded to 11.1.1.4.0 and as far as we know there's virtually no compatibility issues, just one know bug in the migration process of the jazn-data.xml file that affects us.
    Hope this helps.
    Happy easter to you and your family too.
    Regards,
    CM.

  • Hello, Actionscript 3 question. please help!

    Hello, I'm new to Actionscript 3 and still getting the hang of all the changes and such. However, one problem is sorely annoying me, and I need some outside opinions on what could be wrong. The code is basically a rewritten version of some code I found someplace else, and my main goal is to find out the error with the code. The code looks like:
    package
    import flash.display.MovieClip;
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    public class Main extends MovieClip
    var sceneOne:SceneOne;
    var sceneTwo:SceneTwo;
    var sceneThree:SceneThree;
    public function Main()
    sceneOne = new SceneOne(); trace("Working");
    sceneTwo = new SceneTwo(); trace("Working");
    sceneThree = new SceneThree(); trace("Working");
    addChild(sceneOne); trace("Working");
    //Add event listeners
    this.sceneTwo.OutsideButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onHillButtonClick); trace("Working");
    this.sceneTwo.bathroomButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onPondButtonClick); trace("Working");
    this.sceneOne.livingRoomButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onBackButtonClick_Hill); trace("Working");
    this.sceneThree.livingRoomButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onBackButtonClick_Pond); trace("Working");
    //Event handlers
    function onHillButtonClick(event:MouseEvent):void
    addChild(sceneOne);
    removeChild(sceneTwo);
    function onPondButtonClick(event:MouseEvent):void
    addChild(sceneThree);
    removeChild(sceneTwo);
    function onBackButtonClick_Hill(event:MouseEvent):void
    addChild(sceneTwo);
    removeChild(sceneOne);
    function onBackButtonClick_Pond(event:MouseEvent):void
    addChild(sceneTwo);
    removeChild(sceneThree);
    The error is occuring @ line 22, saying:
    TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties.
    at Main()[/Users/Mike/Documents/Main.as:22]
    I'm unsure as to what the problem is, as I give it properties. Please help, thank you.

    I think you should rethink the way you're constructing this...
    I could be wrong but it has some flaws... example:
    [email protected] wrote:
    function onBackButtonClick_Hill(event:MouseEvent):void{
    addChild(sceneTwo);
    removeChild(sceneOne);
    looking to this function, I imagine a situation when you click a button to run this function...
    it will add "sceneTwo" to the stage and remove sceneOne... Ok!, but what if we were on sceneThree and not on sceneOne?
    It will try to remove a scene that doesn't exist.
    If that's the problem, you could solve it by using if statements for example.
    Another way is to create a var called something like "currentScene" and at the end of every function/method you first remove the currentScene, then add the new child and set it as your "new" currentScene.
    Well, it's just a guess anyway
    I'm going to sleep now
    Hope you solve your problem.

  • Exporting a version question

    Maybe I just don't understand Aperture yet but I have a question. When I export a version (and choose jpg) is it converting it from RAW to jpg for me or do I have to export the master and convert it in Photoshop's RAW converter? The reason I ask is because I like to fix my master in Aperture and then export it to PS to make a few more aditional changes. I don't want to lose my master RAW quality.
    Does that make sense?
    Any clarification would be a great help.
    thanks
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    under preferences, (cmd+,) what file format do you have setup for external editor ??? i use tiff 300dpi and have no problems with anything in PS and they open at 16-bit - no place to change that pref ...
    are you right-clicking -> open with external editor ??? this should create a version that opens in PS, and in aperture you will see a new badge like a bullseye ...
    what things in PS can't you use ???
    this 30 below crap is for the, well not the birds ... it really hampers the shooting outdoors, but hopefully it will make the door county shoreline very pretty for next weekend ... and the sea caves at the apostles should be very accessible and nicely frozen ...

  • Non supported camera and old Imovie version question?

    I  have a multi part question. First, I have an Ion Video camera that appears to not be supported by IMovie. But I also have an old version of IMovie 8.0.6 because I've never used it up until now. When I upload my video's, Iphoto automatically opens and they go into there. I want to be able to use IMovie to edit, add music etc. I've never really manually imported or exported things on my computer and don't know if that is how I can get them over into IMovie or what. I've tried muddling through trying to do that, and apparently I'm doing something wrong. When I  hook up my Ion camera directly to my computer   the videos won't  go directly into IMovie for some reason. I've tried dragging the videos from iPhoto into IMovie and that won't work either. Can someone tell me detailed instructions on how to exactly   do this or what I need to do to get videos into IMovie.  What if my video camera isn't supported?? I need to learn how to do this fairly quickly. Thank you

    So I assume you have the clips in you event browser that were imported from your old digital camera.
    And when you play them fullscreen, they look bad.
    The point of a DVD, is to play them in a DVD player, usually a TV which is an even larger screen, AND
    the problem is that conversion to the DVD will further degrade the quality. It will look worse.
    what you need to do i think is to go ahead and make the movie (project) but plan on exporting it to a form that works well on a smaller screen, an iPod might be perfect for that. Or you could play it on your computer screen but shrink the movie (do not play full screen). Most of these will play with QuickTime and you can pull the QT playing screen to be larger and smaller by using the corner thingie in lower right hand corner of the screen.
    So, make your project, and you will be exporting it ("Share" menu) as a QT file and playing it as a QT file, not a DVD. If you use Share menu, pick Export Movie and pick the highest resolution it allows and export it to your desk top, you will end up with your movie in a form that you can play with QT.
    write back with questions
    that is my advice.

  • Pather version question, please help.

    I was just wondering if a Mac inclined person can answer my question.
    I have been offered a version of Mac OS X v10.3.2 Panther. Now my question is, I am running OS X 10.3 but I do not know what version. Will the CD still work if I need to boot from it? Or use to reinstall the operating system if the machine crashes? I do not intend to use the cd only incase of it crashing. Thanks Paul.

    This is the normal case. You buy the first release of Panther from Apple -- 10.3. You then download the updates. You end up with say 10.3.8. You can still use your original 10.3 disk to do maintenance.

  • CS4 Save As and ActionScript Versions

    I'm curious as to which versions CS4 can save an FLA as. As
    government contractors we are obligated to submit our FLAs as part
    of our final deliveries, and some customers require the version to
    be 8. For this and other reasons we need to be mindful when
    considering upgrading.
    Also, will CS4 allow us to create files as either AS2 (gotta
    have that Tree component!) or AS3 in the same way that CS3 does?
    Thanks in advance.

    Ex Malterra,
    > I'm curious as to which versions CS4 can save an FLA as.
    Flash CS4 can save FLAs as CS4- and CS3-compatible files.
    (By
    comparison, Flash CS3 is able to save CS3- and 8-compatible
    files. Flash 8
    can save 8- and MX 2004-compatible files, and so on, back.
    Always the
    current version and the version before.)
    > some customers require the version to be 8. For this and
    > other reasons we need to be mindful when considering
    > upgrading.
    It can get tedious, but if you're using CS4 and want to save
    for Flash
    8, you'll have to Save As CS3, then open that file in CS3 and
    Save As 8.
    Keep in mind -- and this isn't new to CS4 -- you always risk
    losing features
    when you save to a previous version of Flash. For example,
    Flash 8
    introduced blend modes. If you use those and try to save your
    file as an MX
    2004 file, you'll lose that particular feature.
    > Also, will CS4 allow us to create files as either AS2

    > CS3 does?
    Yes. Flash CS4 supports all the versions of ActionScript as
    Flash CS3.
    That said, you can always use 3rd party components to meed
    your needs, if it
    comes to that. The Yahoo! Developer Network features free
    (BSD license) AS3
    UI components for Flash here, including a Tree:
