Actionscript vs html5 and javescript

hi, i would like to ask you if you can tell me about the differencies between actionscript , html5 and javescript or tell me if there is same form of documentetion about this thing. Also i want to know what excactly does  Adobe edge uses to build amimations and how it is different from adobe flash. similarities and differencies beetwen flash and edge.

I was programming with Flash too. This is the core discussion:
Things we make in flash requires Flash player to run on top of browsers (like an additional layer to convert/translate it). Regardless of hassles to update flash player for viewing flash contents and SEO worries, this system also consumes more energy when executed, which is critical for mobile devices and more efficient devices yet to come. Therefore, although actionScript is a much more beautiful language than JavaScript (my opinion), but JavaScript is now superior because it is Native to browsers. HTML5 like HTML translates the layout of the raw content to browsers. CSS modifes the layout further, and you can use JavaScript and its libraries like Jquery to animate, interact things more artfully. Adobe Edge is a product that tries to help designers focus on timeline based animation(like flash) without worrying so much on how to syntax CSS and Jquery. When launching the software you can see CSS related Control options on your left and timeline actions translates into javascript. So you have this platform that lets you move and animate things the way you did in flash, only this time, trying to produce a WEB-FRIENDLY output, instead of a SWF file for instance. you get a HTML file and bunch of js files which are healthy stuff. I think flash is still a kick *** animation and interactive software, i keep using it for stand alone presentations and project demos, it only lost its use for browser related productions. As a flash designer you ll be disappointed first by starting Edge, but soon you ll pick up speed IF you care to learn more about CSS and JS of course because u need to use the coding panel if you were a hard core actionscript developer, timeline alone is never enough. There are enough similarities for you to not miss Flash. But you ll miss actionScript. just the joy of calling a symbol and asking him to listen to an event wasssss soooo CUTTTEeeeee....the language was meant to talk to stuff like a "puppeteer". so genius. the HTML CSS stuff r boring structural formats, javascript is DUMb actionscript in my opinion, Jquery is smart in its own way but not beautiful, very efficient though. anyway:

    What do you mean you can't write HTML5 code?  Are you working within an HTML5 doc type?
    To make HTML5 your default doc type, go to Edit > Preferences > New Document.  Click on screenshots below.
    To create a new page, go to File > New > Blank page > HTML.  Select none from the 3rd column.  Select HTML5 doc type.  Hit Create button.

  • Exit button not working Captivate 7 output to HTML5 and SWF

    I have several courses developed in Cp 6.5 that do not have this issue and are currently running on Taleo LMS.
    I've built a test course with 6 (mostly blank) slides, including two quiz questions. On the final slide I have placed a Finish Course button with On Success: Exit action. The project end options are set to close project and I've included an On Exit: Exit action on the final slide. The Finish Course button successfully closes the browser window in Preview in Browser (IE9) and Preview HTML5 output modes.
    I then published the course to both HTML5 and SWF output formats with scalable HTML selected. Once I uploaded the course to the LMS and tested it, the Finish Course button does not close the browser window. I've tested in IE9, Firefox, and iPad, and it doesn't work on any of these. I've also tried including the built in exit button on the playbar, and it doesn't close the window either. At the final slide, after clicking the Finish Course button, the slide fades to white and then stops.
    The LMS reports that the course is complete; I thought maybe it was an issue with the settings in the LMS course, however I have several other courses that were developed in Cp 6.5, published to the same LMS with the same "Exit" button on the final slide, and I have mirrored every course setting that has worked in the past.
    Any suggestions as to what could be keeping the window from closing?
    Thanks,
    PV

    Why does there need to be a button used now when in CP 6 and 6.5 it worked seamlessly? Will this be fixed by Adobe and when?

  • Html5 and css3 your thoughts please!

    Hi everyone
    As it is July the 4th, I though I would ask a question that is nothing to do with dreamweaver or coding problems.
    Two years ago I posted this thread - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/457240, on the subject of html5/css3, and most people thought that it was too early to adopt these technologies except for 'early adoption' trial sites.
    So what does everyone think now that two years have passed?
    Are these still considered too new?
    Are you using html5 and/or css3 in your web sites?
    Is 'progressive enhancement' and/or 'graceful degradation' now a part of your design/coding strategy when using them?
    Is anyone using or experimenting with any of the 'newer' features such as the css3 flex-box model or in-line svg?
    Is IE6/7 still part of your 'it must look the same in all browsers' design philosophy, or are you now ignoring these browsers?
    Your thoughts and opinions, (not insults please) would be welcome, and if you wish to pose a question on how to use any of these the please do so in a separate thread. Also if anything is stopping you using html5/css3, then say what it is.
    There is no correct answer but, (5) points will be awarded for the 2 best discussions, because if someone takes time and thought in posting a reply, then some sort of reward should be available, (I did consider a bottle of wine but).

    Not yet but I have been looking at some basics of both in preparation to move across once I feel the time is right - 2015 I'll be retired.
    Is 'progressive enhancement' and/or 'graceful degradation' now a part of your design/coding strategy when using them?
    Nooooooooo! If corners are supposed to be round then square ones is'nt graceful gradation to me.

    Nope....never heard of them.

    IE 7 definitely but I don't design to take into consideration IE 6 any longer.

  • Adobe Actionscript 1.0 and Coldfusion 8

    Hi ,
    We are using actionscript 1.0 in our application and as the middle tier we are using Coldfusion MX 7. Now our web applications are working fine.If we upgrade MX 7 to Coldfusion 8 will this integration work fine. Is there any known issues integrating actionscript 1.0 and coldfusion 8.Please help

    AS1 !?! So I suppose that you're doing SOAP calls or XML over HTTP ? In that case, there's no compatibility issue between 7 and 8: "ColdFusion MX (6.0, 6.1, and 7) applications should seamlessly migrate to ColdFusion 8."
    Hope it helps,

  • Where's the best place to get code converted between ActionScript 2.0 and 3.0?

    Where's the best place to get code converted between ActionScript 2.0 and 3.0?
    If I just have occasional (very small) projects, what's the best way to get them done really fast by somebody who knows both 2.0 and 3.0?
    Thanks, Dan

    You have pretty much answered your own question... hire someone who has fairly thorough knowledge of both AS2 and AS3.
    I have heard there are some tools for converting between AS2 and AS3, but I have no knowledge of them other than having heard that they cannot convert all things.... which makes sense because there is not always a one-to-one relationship to how things ae done with AS2 and how they get done with AS3.

    It says it's a myth that you do not need the internet to use these programs, but I think you do. I regularly get asked to confirm by account online. Sometimes I travel in areas where there is no internet access, but find myself stuck and unable to use the programs because I cannot confirm my account online.

  • HTML5 and IE

    Ok been playing around with HTML5 and so far I like it. Of course I havent delved into the more advanced tags new to verison5 yet. My question though is this. With my limited understanding and reading on the new standards of how browsers support, or dont support, html5 I was under the impression that all current versions of IE supported even the basics of the new html5 standards.
    For a perfect example. In creating a new html5 basic layout using the header, footer, article, and nav tags, I'm still forced to do some hacks for IE to style these tags, since they are not defined as a class or id name I assume.
    Personally I hate writing hacks for IE and avoid them like the plague! lol Will this be the norm from now on? Will IE9 change all that? How long, if IE8 doesnt support these tags, will we be forced to write hacks for this browser.

    Hi
    The very fact that the still current version of IE(8) doesn't support
    the html5 page division names is somewhat confusing to me. I thought
    that the whole internet buzz over the new html and how all these browser
    companies sent delegates to be part of this team of coders and
    developers in order to develope the best most cross browser compliant
    html standard to date.
    Believe it or not IE5 and IE6 where the most compliant browsers for html and css when they where released, and it was only when the css specs for css2.1 where candidate recommendations and supported by Safari and Mozilla, (I am talking about V1 of these browsers, released 2-3 years after IE6) that they became noticeably 'broken'.
    You only need to read a few of the comments posted in replies on the DW forums relating to using the modules/rules of css3 that are candidate recommendations in order to realize how slow and reluctant many designers/developers are to use anything that is not in general use, (progressive enhancements are not regarded by many as the norm). If many designers/developers will not use the features then why expect clients or browser developers to worry about support and more importantly, if users do not see a better experience in more modern/compliant browsers then why should they update/upgrade?
    (for the last point above, join in the discussions in the DW general section and offer support for html5 and css3 usage, as I am getting tired of being 'shot down')
    As for Microsoft and IE8, they where not a part of the 'group' that developed html5 as this was not done by the W3C, (they have no such excuse for css3 however). But when you remember that Adobe did not want to support html5/css3 in CS5, (it was not in the initial release) and had to release it as an extension after much criticism from both users, (myself included) and the press, then IE8 not supporting these features is not surprising as it was released a year before CS5.
    IE9 does support html5 and some of css3, (though not enough) and the IE developers decided to do so before Adobe decided to support them in Dreamweaver.

  • I could use some help with my html5 and my video

    Hello all.
    I've been reading up and working on my video issue for days.  I feel like I'm very close.  ANY help would be huge.
    I've got two websites.  Both of which have videos which my clients wants to be about to see on his mac, his PC and his iPhone and iPad.  He's a multi-platform guy living in a multi-platform world.
    The first website, has two videos on it.
    http://www.ftworthfoundation.com/index2.html
    It is very close to working... I can view all videos locally on safari and firefox.
    However remotely I cannot see any videos with firefox.
    Remotely- I can see all videos with Safari and IE and 1 video on the homepage with my iPhone.  My first thought on this was that the video which wouldn't play was too large.  I read somewhere that the iPHone will not load anything over 20MB... the .m4v was 33MB so I cut it down to about a 3rd of the size and re uploaded it (at 6.6MB) but it will still not play on my iPhone
    here is my code for the videos.  The video is formatted in .ogg, .mp4, .m4v and .flv... all videos are uploaded to the root directory.
    <div id=Video1>
         <video controls width=448>
            <source src="excel_Construction_Commercial.ogg" type="video/ogg" />
            <source src="excel_Construction_Commercial2.mp4" type="video/mp4" />
                <source src="excel_Construction_Commercial.m4v" type="video/m4v" />
            <embed src="excel_construction_commercial.flv" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="448" height="249" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreeen="true"></embed>
        </video>
        </div>
          <div id="VideoPlayer">
            <video controls width="448">
                <source src="Foundation_Repair.ogg" type="video/ogg" />
    <source src="Foundation_Repair.mp4" type="video/mp4" />
                <source src="Foundation_Repair.m4v" type="video/m4v" />
              <embed src="Foundation_Repair.flv" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width=448 height="249" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreeen="true"></embed>
            </video>
            </div>
    If anyone can help me on this I can probably tackle the 2nd website solo.
    Thanks guys.
    -D

    Hi David.
    Thanks for the reply.  I am definitely moving the right direction.
    I have changed my extensions but the video will still not play remotely.  It does play locally.
    Here is my new code
      <video controls width="448">
                <source src="Remodeling.mp4" type="video/mp4">
                <source src="Remodeling.ogv" width="448" height="298" type='video/ogg; codecs="theora, vorbis"'>
                <source src="Remodeling.m4v" type="video/m4v">
                <embed src="Remodeling.flv" type=application/x-shockwave-flash wIDth="448" HeIGHT=249 alloWScRIPTACCESs="always" aLLOwfUllSCREeN=true></EmbEd>
                </div>
    I'm thinking I have a MIME type issue as I read this article online.
    Here is a link
    http://diveintohtml5.org/video.html
    It's a great website for anyone looking to understand how to create and export video to html5.
    Anyway here is the section of article I'm interested in.
    What’s the proper MIME type? You’ve already seen it; it’s part of the value of the type attribute on a <source> element. But setting thetype attribute in your HTML markup is not sufficient. You also need to ensure that your web server includes the proper MIME type in the Content-Type HTTP header.
    If you’re using the Apache web server or some derivative of Apache, you can use an AddType directive in your site-wide httpd.confor in an .htaccess file in the directory where you store your video files. (If you use some other web server, consult your server’s documentation on how to set the Content-Type HTTP header for specific file types.)
    Can anyone tell me how to change my MIME type? I can see my .htaccess.html file and I tried adding in
    AddType video/ogg .ogv
    AddType video/mp4 .mp4
    AddType video/webm .webm
    But the server will not let me upload the new .htaccess file.  So I cannot change it.
    I'm using GoDaddy and have complete admin rights rights as far as I can tell.
    Again.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • CS5.5 HTML5 and getting MSSQL data

    I am a long time ASP developer and looking to get into HTML5 using Dreamweaver CS5.5 for Mobile apps. I am very excited to understand the mobile development features of CS5.5! I'm hoping somebody can point me into the right direction or explain what I'd need to do in order to do the following:
    Using HTML5 to create a mobile application within CS5.5 bundled for Android install (I understand this part)
    Query a MSSQL database on the web server we currently use for the client's normal (non-mobile) website
    Display the queried MSSQL data on the client's mobile Android app we created using HTML5
    In a nutshell, we are trying to create a mobile installable version of their website for Android and want to display the current data they are using from the database that runs their website. If they change a paragraph on their website through the database, their web app will show that same change, eliminating the need for double entry to maintain 2 different websites. How can this be done and by using what means?
    I look forward to hearing the responses!

    I am asking the exact same question. Maybe it has to do with
    the following two points in the documentation:
    Loading and playing an audio or video
    file is not allowed if the calling SWF file is in a network sandbox
    and the file to be loaded is local.
    By default, loading and playing an
    audio or video file is not allowed if the calling SWF is local and
    tries to load and play a remote file. A user must grant explicit
    permission to allow this.
    There seems to be preciously little information on the web on
    using the AS3 NetConnection classes with FMS2.
