Activate Apple wired Pro Mouse ??

On the underside of this wired Apple mouse it is labeled ' Pro Mouse'. I think I ordered it with the MacBook less than a year ago. It has the force-sensing side controls. How do I activate all features? I think I remember that it has right-click also. No scroll ball. Nothing comes up in search. I'm fed up with wl mighty mouse eating batteries. Would like to work with this one again before making some other purchase. Preference pane has only click and cursor speed. Maybe not compatible. Now running OS 10.5.5 with MacBook. Thanks, Mark

I have a "Pro Mouse" (so it proclaims underneath). I don't know if it is the one that came with it (well, it came with it secondhand). Oval, black. No right click. Just a red light underneath. Squeeze the little pads on the side or click on the top, it all seems to do the same. Two options in Tiger preferences. According to [Wikipedia|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AppleProMouse] that's all it does.

  • Brand new Macbook Pro not pairing with Apple Keyboard and mouse!

Hi all, I have a brand new Macbook Pro and an older wireless Apple Keyboard and Mouse (that were being previously used with my imac G5).
Now I want to use these for this macbook. I am finding that they are being recognised but not pairing up?
Do you need to stop the previous pairing with the imac before they will pair with the Macbook?
Or do I need to update specific software? (I would have thought it has all the necessary updates already installed).
    I am running Snow leopard.
I have brand new batteries in the keyboard and mouse.
I really appreciate any helpful advice. Sorry if the answer is obvious!
    Thanks

Hi there, i had a problem pairing an Apple wireless keyboard with my MacBook pro but managed to solve it.
The default passkey option in Bluetooth setup assistant is 'automatic' which will (if the MacBook can 'see' the keyboard in the first instance) then say something like 'your device may prompt you to enter the following passcode 1234 5678'
Obviously the keyboard doesn't provide any feedback - I went ahead and typed the number and hit the return key a number of times - the MacBook then displayed a 'pairing failed - you may have entered the incorrect passkey' message.
What i was doing wrong was keying only numbers - when i keyed 1234[SPACE]5678 + RETURN pairing worked.
I had thought the 'gap' in the passcode was to make it easier to read, not that it implied a space in the passcode.
    Hope that helps.

  • Apple Pro Mouse with MacBook?

I'll soon have a black MacBook and I'm looking to buy a mouse. The black Apple Pro mouse would look really good with it, but I realize that it's an old model. Would this still work well on the new MacBook? I looked into the Mighty Mouse, but there are problems with the scroll ball lifespan so I would rather get one without it. Were there any lifespan issues with the Apple Pro mice?

The mouse cord length issue with MacBook -- at least the one I just got -- is that the USB ports are on the left side! I can barely use my old mouse with it, and I'll be looking for either a mouse with a longer cord or some sort of cord extension soon.
Of course that would be no problem at all for lefties.

  • 10.4.9 UPDATE - FREEZING APPLE PRO MOUSE

    HELLO
I PowerMac G5 7,3 and use Tiger I have updated the software to 10.4.9 but since doing so my pro Mouse has been freezing even with the red lazer light on. It's plugged in my screen so no lack of power. I have even tried another mouse still same problem. I have removed my pref and have a new set. I have tried different surfaces for the mouse but still the problem.
Please help - it was all fine until I updated?

Is this a black, pro mouse? And is the other mouse you tried also black? If so the update may have revealed a hardware problem with your mouse. Apple no longer makes or sells the pro mouse. They only make the mighty mouse. 10.4.9 update does include a "mouse scrolling" update. This update may be optimized for the mighty mouse. You may be able to load the old mouse driver back in or install a 3rd party driver with your pro mouse here http://plentycom.jp/en/steermouse/download.html (I have never tried this).
For information on failing pro mice see here: http://www.sewardweb.com/applepromouse/
You may just want to buy a new mouse. The Kensington PocketMouse is rated high (but it's small) for only $14.95 at the Apple Store.

  • Pre-Mighty Mouse - Apple Pro Mouse still available?

I was looking through the UK Apple Store (online) for a Pro Mouse, but all I can find are the Might Mouse and the Wireless Mouse. Is the Pro not made any more?

Yes, apple has discontinued the apple pro mouse. I wanted one too for my iMac; but I couldn't find one that was worth the cost on eBay. I broke down and purchased the Apple Mighty mouse. I love it! It's a very good product, Only Slightly over priced. But you can use multiple buttons. and you can even scroll 360 degrees. I am glad I purchased it. They are $50 dollars in the US. I'm not sure about the UK though. You must have OS 10.3.9 or later I believe though. Hope this helps. -Trevor129

  • Broken Apple Pro Mouse

My 10 year old black Apple Pro Mouse is blinking 4 times and then ceasing to work. Has it finally bitten the dust? Where can I get an equivalent replacement?

  • Can the Apple Pro Mouse Be Opened For Cleaning?

I tried searching the forum with no luck before posting here. I'd like to clean the inside of the Apple Pro Mouse that came with my G4. Anyone know how to open it safely (so it can be re-closed again)?
    Thanks!

Not read one success story on opening it, the only apparently safe method of cleaning is to massage it upside down!

  • Question about Wireless Apple Pro Mouse

I am just encountering a problem with my wireless apple pro mouse. I have had this wireless mouse with my iMac G5 for 2-3 years. It was doing fine up until yesterday when I began having this problem where I would go to the bluetooth menu from the menu bar and hit "set up new bluetooth device". I would slide the cover off the LED and it would connect. At the last step of the pairing process, it would say "connection established" on the computer, then on my mouse the LED would blink one more fast blink and then die. On my computer, it said "connection lost". Is there any realy problem here? Should I just call it quits for that wireless mouse, and go and get a new one? Help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

If you happen to have an AppleCare extended warranty on your iMac, your mouse is also covered by that warranty.
I don't recall ever reading about a wireless mouse expiring at an early age, but you'd probably have the best idea whether or not you've gotten your money's worth out of it. I suppose you checked to see that you installed the firmware update?

  • Question about Black Apple Pro Mouse...

    Hi guys,
Just picked up a Black Apple Pro Mouse (I know it's old but I've not found a Black Mighty mouse to go with my black MacBook).
On the bottom is a dial with a minus, zero and plus settings. I've searched Apple's hardware database and can't find anything to tell me what it does. I've had a play with it and it doesn't seem to make any noticeable difference to pointer speed or light intensity, so thought I'd ask you lot...
Anyone know what it is or what it does?
    Thanks for reading...

When the next person comes here looking for the answer, they will be unhappy that you did not post that the dial adjusts the click sensitivity.
These forums have many more readers that writers. Often, others are "lurking", dying to know the answer to the question you posed!

  • Apple Blue Tooth Mouse & Keyboard will not Wake Mac Pro while in Vista

I am running Vista Ultimate via Boot Camp OSX Leopard. I have a MAC Pro with apple blue tooth mouse and keyboard.
When the computer sleeps while in Vista, neither the mouse or keyboard will wake the computer. The only way to wake the computer while in Vista is to press the power button the MAC Pro.
After I wake the computer via the power button, the keyboard is unresponsive for about 2 minutes. Turning the power on and off on the keyboard does not speed up the process. The same thing happens intermittently when rebooting into Vista.
AppleCare says it's a Vista problem. Microsoft tech support says it's an Apple driver problem. Nice.
The keyboard and mouse do wake the computer when in Leopard.

Were you ever able to find a resolution to this issue? I am seeing the same perplexing grayed out box in device manager. In my case I'm using a MS Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and my machine is a Mini.
For anyone else who might happen upon this post, the exact click sequence is:
Device Manager -> Bluetooth Radios -> Apple Built-in Bluetooth -> Power Management

  • I broke my USB mouse, is it possible to set up my imac with an old pro mouse without having a mouse to navigate?

I'm in the market for a new mouse, and a friend offered an older style I get by for the time being. My computer doesn't seem to recognize it; how do i know if it even works and how do I set it up? Can I use a non-apple mouse? I'm a on tight budget, and it seems some of the aftermarket mice are cheaper and offer more options. I'm sorry if this has been covered somewhere else, but I'm limited to using my iPhone 4 for the time being.

There are aftermarket USB wired mice at the Apple store online and likely in a retail location, in addition to Apple wired and wireless mouse, touchpad, etc. Most any quality mouse should work. And likely without additional software. Plug and play.

Not sure why the older Apple pro mouse doesn't work. Maybe the newer ones have different circuitry inside compared to vintage ones from 10+ years ago. The original dark color 'Pro mouse' was a good product. I have one that failed only due to the wire coming apart right at the mouse. Some people will repair those.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Erratic wired mighty mouse

I've just bought my first Apple MacPro about 6 weeks ago with a wired keyboard and wired mighty mouse. In the last week the mighty mouse has become very erratic in that it acts as if the back button has been pressed when ever the mouse is moved. In other words if I'm working on line and I touch the mouse even slightly the previous web page is brought up.
If use it in explorer or finder it brings up the previous directory.
This problem is present both in Leopard and in Windows XP running in Bootcamp.
    Rebooting makes no difference
I've now attached an old Dell Logitech wireless mouse to a usb port and it works perfectly both with leopard and windows.
    Any ideas?

I'm going through the same "issue" actually so I hope I can save you some time.
It's a grounding issue. You can experiment:
    - Touch your Mac Pro system while you're moving the mouse, or;
    - Touch your keyboard while moving the mouse
If the mouse calms down and doesn't try to escape , then you have the source of the problem.
I've read a lot of discussions on this, with people replacing their mice constantly, and even doing a full re-install. So if the above works, then your solution is in figuring out how to deal with the ground-ing problem.
What's more surprising is that Apple hasn't addressed this (it seems) for some time now. With all the gyrations customers go through, you'd think there would have been some type of solution (a recall perhaps?).

  • My wired mighty mouse no longer scrolls down - only up and sideways.

My wired mighty mouse no longer scrolls down; only up and sideways. It could be a hardware problem and I guess I should go and by a new mouse but before I do I thought I'd check whether there was any parameter I could change to fix or test this. Anyone else had this problem? Cheers.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro on both my Apple Mac Pro and Apple MacBook Pro

I think I found the answer to my question: "May I install my copy of Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro on both my Apple Mac Pro and on my recently purchased Apple MacBook Pro?" I think my question was answered in reading the text of the agreement for use of this site in the following:
"You may activate the Software on up to 2 devices (or virtual machines) at a time, if these activations are associated with the same Adobe ID for the same individual, unless stated at http://www.adobe.com/go/activation . However, you may not use the Software on these devices simultaneously."
If this is correct, would you confirm. I know how security conscious Adobe is with their software.
    Thank you! Be Safe!
    Ken

    Hi kennethf71183385,
Thank you so much for asking! Yes, you are entitled to activate your copy of Acrobat on two computers. Please see Activation & Deactivation Help - Adobe Support for more information about activating Adobe software!
Please let us know if you have additional questions.

  • Organizer Tray for Apple Wired Keyboard & Magic Trackpad

    Greetings,
I have found several "organizer tray" products online for positioning the Bluetooth keyboard and the Magic Trackpad like a Macbook Pro where the trackpad is just below the keyboard.
I am curious to know if anyone has seen or has a tray that will organize the Apple wired aluminum keyboard with the numeric keypad and the Magic Trackpad.
I find that I'm getting RSI in my fingers and wrist having the trackpad to the right of the keyboard.
    Anyone seen anything?
    Thank-you!
    Derrick

Just found another one; a slightly different configuration and less than half the price: http://www.magiclapdesk.com/magiclapdesk-for-apple-trackpad.html Good luck!
