Activate bluetooth using Wireless Switch?

I'm getting really frustrated now because my laptop seems to have forgotten that a thing called Bluetooth exists. I noticed the bluetooth wasn't working so I tried to install the newest driver but it fails to install saying I need to "Activate bluetooth using Wireless Switch". As far as I can tell this means pressing fn+f2 which turns on/off the wifi and blutooth but this does nothing and besides that is always on.
Next I went to mobility center and found this: .
Bluetooth appears to be on but I still can't connect anything with it or install the latest driver. When I click launch it takes me to my PC settings in which there is nothing about bluetooth. Search bluetooth yields two results: set up a connection or network and turn on or off wireless devices. Under wireless devices there are only two settings, airplane mode and wi-fi. Under Set up a connection everything is related to LAN and Wi-Fi, nothing about bluetooth.
If I go to services.msc I find this:  So bluetooth defintiely exists in some form but for some reason I just can't access it and it can't pick up bluetooth devices. Someone please tell me I'm an idiot and I'm missing something obvious, please I've been at it for an hour.

Hi,
If you still haven't been able to resolve this, have you tried physically removing the card, deleting all the drivers, etc., rebooting the system, and after that shutting down.  Then physically reinstall the card, either let Windows find the drivers or install them yourself, and see if it straightens out the issue?
You can also check Microsoft's article on troubleshooting bluetooth issues.
Other than that, honestly I'm not sure what you may have missed.  Let me know if you've resolved the issue (and if so, how, so that others with the same problems can find your solution).  If not, like I said, physically remove the card and uninstall the drivers to see what happens.
Hope this helps.

  • Switching language pref in iPad using wireless keyboard

    The Apple Bluetooth wireless keyboard has no globe icon. Is there some shortcut I can use to switch languages (i.e., change the keyboard) when the wireless keyboard is connected to my iPad Air? I have several languages entered in Settings, so using the screen keyboard I can switch in a few seconds. Do I have to go into Settings and change the language there in order to use this feature when I'm on the wireless keyboard?

    Under iOS 7 and earlier, there were separate settings for Hardware keyboards, where you could specify Polytonic Greek.  But these are gone in iOS 8, and I don't know whether there is any way to make it work.
    For screen typing, you might try the app Keyman Pro, which I think has a polytonic greek keyboard.

    Just tested something and it worked.
    If I put the headphones all the way in, the mac recognizes it as a digital output.
    But if i don't put it all the way in, it recognizes it as headphones and works perfectly.
    It's probably this crappy headphones.

    Cursor moves by itself, types by itself, opens dashboard by itself, stops responding to keysto22000 - there be a good example. Seems to like the number 2. Have switched out keyboards to no avail. Do not use wireless. Does not start immediately upon turning on computer. Everything is okay from 10 to 20 minutes, then bang. Can deattach then attach keyboard and get a few moments of quiet. All this started today.

    If the same erratic behavior occurs when the external KB and mouse are completely disconnected, I think it's time for a Genius Bar appointment to have the problem diagnosed.

    You'll probably want to get the machine revved up ahead of time so it's misbehaving when you walk in the door, rather than count on it to act up — or not — after you and the Genius have been standing around waiting for a while. (BTW, I'm assuming that once it starts acting up, it continues to do so until you give up and shut it down. Is that true?)

  • Wireless switch

    Hello,
    Some years ago, I installed Arch to my laptop (BenQ P41 - Turion X2 TL60 - Radeon Xpress 1100 - Atheros AR5006EG).
    In windows I have to press Fn+F12
    once: activate wireless switch (blue led on)
    twice: activate bluetooth, switch wireless off (orange led on)
    three times: both bluetooth and wireless are on (pink led on)
    4 times: both switched off (no led)
    At that time Arch can connect to my wireless network without me pressing Fn+F12 (I had to install madwifi driver). However pressing Fn+F21 did not turn blue led on. However bluetooth switch workwith no problem
    Anyway, my old harddisk just died and I replaced it with a new one. I installed Arch again and is now having small annoying problem with the wireless switch. Apparently my card is now automatically recoqnized as wlan0.
    If I pressed Fn+F12 during boot up process then everything worked like a charm even the LED showed correct colors. Only problem is that it stays connected eventhough I switched off the button.
    However, if I pressed Fn+F12 once I arrived in my desktop environment (KDE) than the wireless switch did not work at all it can only show orange LED (bluetooth on) other than that no LED at all. In other word I can not connect through wlan0.
    dmesg gave me the following:
    [  141.333171] atkbd serio0: Unknown key pressed (translated set 2, code 0xc0 on isa0060/serio0).
    [  141.333176] atkbd serio0: Use 'setkeycodes e040 <keycode>' to make it known.
    Searching google I found a suggestion to set it in /etc/rc.local
    running dumbkeys, I got following empty key code
    keycode 120 =
    keycode 121 =
    keycode 122 =
    keycode 123 =
    So I set the following in rc.local:
    setkeycodes e040 <248>
    But it did not solve my problem....
    Any help??????

  • How activate bluetooth manager on Satellite P200-1C7

    I have installed a bluetooth dongle on my Toshiba Satellite P200- 1C7 so I have downloaded bluetooth manager and bluetooth stack.
    Or when I tried to use bluetooth manager it said that it remains 25 days of evaluation.
    So I wanted to know how activate bluetooth manager?
    If it's not possible, someone can tell me what software can I use (bluesoleil doesn't work).
    Thank you very much for your reply.

    Hi
    The Toshiba Bluetooth stack on the Toshiba website is customized and designed for Toshiba notebooks.
    You should use the Bluetooth stack which is customized for your notebook. Then you would not need to activate any BT.
    But listen dude; your Satellite P200- 1C7 seems to be NOT equipped with the Toshiba internal BT module!
    Therefore you would need to switch to another external solution.

  • Dhcpcd consumes a lot of CPU when wireless switch is off

    If I turn my hardware wireless switch off, dhcpcd goes crazy and uses a CPU core completely. Checking with htop, the command being run is:
    dhcpcd -4qL -t 30 wlp13s0
    where wlp13s0 is my wireless interface. I'm using netctl-auto to connect to the network.
    It goes back to normal as soon as I turn the switch back on.
    The network configuration under /etc/netctl to which it was connected before I turned the switch off is
    Description='Automatically generated profile by wifi-menu'
    Interface=wlp13s0
    Connection=wireless
    Security=wpa
    ESSID="network"
    IP=dhcp
    Key="password"
    Is there anything I can do so that dhcpcd won't try to use all my CPU in such cases?
    EDIT (2014.05.28):
    I looked in the following wiki pages, but couldn't find anything about this issue:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Br … leshooting
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dhcpcd
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ne … figuration
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Netctl
    I couldn't find anything about dhcpcd and cpu usage in the forums, and searching the web didn't provide any relevant results. Which is bad, since anatolik found this:
    https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/39512
    which I didn't.

    ondoho wrote:Have you tried connecting to the network manually, then pressing the switch?
    If I turn the switch on after turning it off, I must connect manually using netctl (that is, netctl-auto doesn't connect automatically in this case). After doing that, turning the switch back off does not cause the problem. Which is weird, since the process is still there, like before
    I also noticed that it is no longer possible to use netctl-auto after turning the switch off, as it no longer see any configuration (running `netctl-auto list` as root returns nothing, while before it returned 2 items).
    ondoho wrote:how did you install and activate wireless
    I basically followed this wiki page:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ne … f_profiles
    I first generated the profiles with wifi-menu and by copying /etc/netctl/examples/ethernet-dhcp, and then activated netctl-auto using
    # systemctl enable [email protected]
    # systemctl enable [email protected]

    Included in the first post now.
    anatolik wrote:I suspect you see this bug https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/39512
    Yes, it looks very similar.  It is said there that the problem should be fixed since 2014-04-01 11:48:57, but I just checked for updates with pacman and I already have the most recent version (6.3.2).  I will see if I can add any relevant information to that page.
    I did notice that my wireless interface disappears when I turn the switch off (ifconfig doesn't show it anymore), and it only reappears when I reconnect manually. I'm not sure if that is expected, since the commit that should have solved the problem says:
    On a read error, remove the FD from eloop. This shouldn't happen really

  • How to activate Bluetooth

    Hy.
    I have HP Pavilion g4 1357-TX, with Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 32 bit, Intel Core i3-2330M and 2GB memory.
    To the point, how to activate Bluetooth in this notebook ?
    Maybe it sounds silly or stupid to you, but I reall have no idea about this.
    Need your help.
    Thanks !!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Consumer models generally use HP Wireless Assistant, but I was not able to find this exact model on the consumer support site for some reason.
    As a result, I found the HP Connection Manager on the business support center. It essentially accomplishes the same tasks as HP Wireless Assistant in the consumer models. Install it using the link below.
    http://goo.gl/9hx5e
    It is strange the F12 key is not enabling and disabling wifi and bluetooth simultaneously. My consumer model notebook's F12 key turns my wifi and Bluetooth off and on. Apparently the same design decisions are not used across all consumer notebooks.

  • Can't Activate AT&T Wireless Broadband

    I have a new T61p Type 6459 that was ordered with integrated AT&T Wireless Broadband, using a Sierra Wireless MC88775 Network Adapter card.
    Upon receiving the machine, I attempted to activate the Broadband Wireless using the Activation Wizard.
    The Wizard does its thing, then says "The AT&T mobile wireless device could not be detected. Please verify that a device is enabled, powered and available. Ensure the external wireless switch, if available, is in the On position."
    The switch on the front is On. Ctrl-F5 verifies the switch is on, and the Wireless Wan Radio is "On."
    Called IBM EasyServ, and the machine was sent to the Repair Center.
    When it came back, it had the exact same problem! Nothing had changed!!!
    OK, called IBM EasyServ again. The machine went to the Repair Center again.
    When it came back, it still has the same problem!!! The only difference is the Activation Wizard is wearing Cingular clothes instead of AT&T clothes. And, the driver for the video adapter is missing. Evertime the machine boots it runs the New Hardware Found Wizard and wants to install a driver for the video adapter.
    It's beyond me how the people at the Repair Center can't do a simple thing like verifying a repair.
    I can run the AT&T/Cingular Communications Manager. It says "Initializing" for several seconds and then says "No SIM." It shows 4 bars of signal strength from the cell tower.
    I have a T60p that uses the Cingular Broadband with no problem, and activated with no problem, so there is nothing wrong with the AT&T/Cingular coverage here.
    Does anyone have any idea what is going on here???
    This is a brand new machine. I suspect it was configured incorrectly when it was manufactured.
    I have re-imaged the machine several times. I have checked that the SIM card is present and not inserted upside down, and reseated it several times.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Centex

    Centex,
    yes I meant the Sierra Adapter.
    A hard drive is classed as a "CRU - Customer Replaceable Unit". You are permitted to exchange the unit yourself; i.e. if your hdd dies, rather than you having to send your TP in for repair, they just send you a new hdd. You swap it out and send the old one back. Doing something like this for diagnosis will not invalidate your warranty.
    I understood from your first post that your T60p "uses the Cingular Broadband with no problem". My suggestion is to try the hdd from your T61p in the T60p and not the other way around, (if the adapters are the same). Swapping the sim cards can't hurt either. You can see how to remove the hard drives here.
    I would actually try swapping out the sim cards first as it's alot easier. Take the battery out and you should see where it sits.

    Jay is correct, but seems blissfully unaware of what the average PC user has to go through.
    I know the switch you are talking about and it doesn't exist on any Mac and probably never will. If you need to turn Airport or Bluetooth off, use the icons in the menu bar or go to System Preferences.
