Activate Datasource and Transfer Rules

Hi,
I created a datasource in KEB0. Replicated it into BI. I would now like to activate the DS (master and transactional) how do i go about doing that? If i double click it. It does not give me an option to activate it. Also does the DS need to be active to activate the transfer rules.

Dear TJ
If it doesn't allow you to activate then go to se38 and execute program "RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL" and then give the source system name and the InfoSource name.......
This program is very useful as it helps to activate the transfer rules when we cannot do it in RSA1.

a job got failed with the the error message that one of the field lenght is changed. Now datasource and transfer rules has to be regenerated. can anyone explain the procedure for this.

Just check what made this change to that specific object...
Check whether any new transport has made on this object if u are in production....
If u are in production then the object needs to corrected from the D to Q and then to P and u cannt do anythign in the production directly.
If u are in Dev.. then check the object which is causing this issue. Drop the existing data from the target then then introduce a new object with the proper Length as mapping to eh R3 field.. and then proceed with the further steps...
If u are in production and if dont see any changes to this object then try replicating the DS and then activate the TS and then try reloading the data and check if this works fine..

hi praveen,
when u create the transformation for the DSO, it asks for the source. in that you enter your datasource, then you get the datasource fields on one side and the rules in the middle and the DSO objects on the other side. whichever field of DataSource you want to refer in tranformation rule, just connect that field to the rule for the required object of the DSO.

Not able to find the infosource and transfer rules in the infosource tab

Hi everyone,
Not able to find the infosource and transfer rules in the infosource tab in Modelling. I was able to see that the infosource is available under nodesnot connected in the transport connection tab. But i cannot see the same in infosource tab. Please advise.

I have searched with technical name, I am not able to find it, but when i double click on the datasource .....the transfer rules pop up. Because I have not transported the application component, I am not able to find it. But even though it should be available on the nodesnotconnected, I still cannot see it. Is there a work around this ?
I have also tried rsa1old, it still could not find.

the table RSDS does not have 3.x data sources, it has only 7.0 Data sources also it does not have the field mapping.
RSOSFIELDMAP and RSTSRULES have the field mapping of the datasources, do we have any similiar tables for 7.0 Datasources.

Unable to find Transfer Rules and Data Source for 0PERSON Info Source

I'am working on SALES ANALYSIS Configuration with the help of SAP Best Practices.
I'am trying to load Master Data Attributes/Texts/Hierarchies.
I'am able to load for allmost all the InfoPackages which i created for particular DataSource.
Now i need to load master data for 0PERSON InfoObject under that Person (Attributes) and Person (texts) are there,for this 2 Transfer Rules and the DataSource has to be defined by default as it is defined for other Attributes/Texts/Hierarchies.But i'am unable to find a DataSource and Transfer Rules to create a infopackage for PERSON Attributes and Texts.
Please gudie me with a solution in order to get these Transfer Rules and DataSource for this Attributes and Texts.

Hi,
Install the corresponding master data objects from Business content. Go to data source find out the needed datasource, replicate it. If you want you can migrate it also.
If still you are not getting 0person masterdata object datasource & transformation structure, then you have to create the transformation, Infopackage.
Hope if you will install the business content again, it will solve your problem.

Transfer rules not availble in Business content

Hi,
In process of installting Purchasing module related business content I am facing problem with Transfer rules. I have activated all datsources related to Purchasing module in R/3 side and replicated in BW .
Except for 2 datsources all other replicated properly. the datasources 2lis_02_itm and 2lis_02_hdr replicated and are in modified version. why they are not in active verion. can anyone help me in this??
and when i go to business content only infosurce, communication structure are available for this datasources and transfer rules are not available. I tried the option sof delting the datsource and replicating again, activating the source system etc. and replicating it number of times.but nothing worked.
and another issue is when I replicated it didnt propmpt me anythng to selct the option of replciate in 3.x or 7.0 version.
Request anybody's help in this to get the transfer rules.

Hello,
Install the business content for purhcasing properly in BI7.
If you install 2LIS_02_ACC for eg.. you will see... Cube/DSO-Transformation(TRCS)-Infosource-Transformation(RSDS)-datasource.
Sometimes the TRCS or RSDS will be inactive after installing... check the start routine of the transformation and correct accordingly..
Let us know how it goes..

Unable to activate Transfer Rule

Hello Experts,
I am not able to activate Transfer Rule in my System ( BW 3.0).
I have written one routine and then when I am trying to activate I am getting below error messageu201D
Object 0NOTIFICATN_ATTR object version not found in table.
My Data Source name is 0NOTIFICATN_ATTR.
I have also tried to activate by using RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL but still no luck.
I also checked table TADIR and I can see entry over there.

Try to activate the transfer rules by executing the SE38 report - RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL.
Also check the note - 884385 , For 'RSAR' errors while activating update and transfer rules.

Hello,
Info-packages trigger the data load into BW system from the source system. An info-package is created for a specific data source and info source combination.
1) When you trigger the info-package it sends an request to the source system to start the extraction process and this corresponds to the step "Data Request Received" in monitor under details tab. It is the first step.
2) Then the selections specified in the info-package are transferred to the source system to select the requested data from BW system. Then it is sent back to BW system.
3) Once it reach BW, it gets into the PSA and then it gets updated into the data target (depends on what settings are made in IP). No rules (Transfer rules / update rules) comes into picture when data is stored in PSA. Only the transfer structure is used to map the BW info-objects with the source system fields.
4) After data is stored into PSA, the update into the data targets begins. First the transfer rules are applied -> data then flows through the communication structure -> update rules are applied and finally the records gets updated into the data target.
The extraction flow is: -
Source System (DS) -> PSA -> Transfer Rules -> Communication Structure -> Update Rules -> Data target.
Info-package actually triggers the whole data flow in BW system.

Issue with the activation of transfer rules

I am working with the datasource 0PRODUCT_TEXT, and I am trying to install transfer rules from BI Content and unable to get the active version.
But the transfer rules are showing inactive and the error is as follows.
Error generating program
Message no. RSAR245
Diagnosis
An error occurred during program generation:
Template:   RSTMPL80
Error code: 6
Row:        47
Message:    Statement concluding with "...LIKE" ended unexpect
Procedure
Correct the template to remove the problem
Please help me in this issue.

Try to run RSActivate* all transfer rule program that will activate the inactive transfer rules. Don't forget to replicate the datasource once again before you run the program.

Transfer Rule Actrivation Error

We are on BW3.5 and just upgraded R/3 to ERP2005. Our transfer rules for master data are not active, and when we run RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL, we get an error that reads: "An error occurred when creating transfer structure /BIC/CCBD0PLANT as an IDOC segment in source system"
We were able to use that program to activate the transaction data transfer rules, but something about the master data won't allow the activation.
The Procedure in the error message says to Use the generation log in the source system to identify the error. I am not sure where to look for this.
It appears to be a connection problem, but it is weird that the transaction transfer rules we are able to activate.
This is in a QA system, so we cannot activate directly.

Check whether the transferstructure table is active ...
if not there si a difference between source system data source and transfer rules you assigned...
Replicate the datasource...Check each field for assignment.... and then activate in Dev..
Probably after generating the transstruct/ rules you might changed some thing either in rules or in datasource.

Copy transfer structure transfer rules from one client to other client

Hi
Our R3 client 100 is mapped to BW client 100.
R3 client 100 is source system in BW.
As the master data is created by users in R3 client 200 we want to get the data from client 200 to BW. We dont want to replicate each datasource and do all stuff form scratch for client 200.
Now the question is as we need to create transfer rules, transfer structure for all master data objects for client 200 in BW.
1. Going to create R3 200 client in BW.--this is possible.
2.Like create a transport connection in BW for client 200 for all master data infoobjects transfer rules transfer structure,process chain, infopackages..etc
3.Do the source system mapping for new client 200.
4.and then execute the process chain..
What are the best ways to achieve this.
creating all transfer structure and transfer rules only for those we are loading daily ..rather than all active ones.. How can I get the list of that master data that is loading daily.. and how easily can I create transfer structure..etc dependent objects in one go than manually.
Any help or thoughts are appreciated..

Hi,
BW is not client dependent!!! When you sign on to BW, you have the client required. However, this field does not appear in any table (master data, ODS, cubes, whatever).
This means that a same BW server with a single client can have multiple R/3 connections (for multiple R/3 clients).
The database do not care about the client in BW. The data will be consolidated.
So, you do not need any new client in BW, just two R/3 connections for your two clients.

No transfer rules for FI master data sources

Hi all
I didnt get transfer rules for some of the FI master datasources.
0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER
0NEG_POSTNG_TEXT
0ITEMSELFLG_TEXT
When I right click on datasource->create transfer rules->Only other option is enabled.WHen I say continue I am getting this error
*Infosource(transaction data) is not known.
How to resolve this isssue.

Double click on the data source and go to edit mode, system automatically provides the corresponding BI content infosources if any and install the same.
Not all the fields will be mapped with BI info objects. Only necessary ones as defined in BI content will be available for you.
If you feel the mapping is incomplete you can modify the same according to the requirement.

Debugging: start routine in transfer rules

can you please tell me how to debug start routines and field routines in transfer rules?
If possible please tell me too debugging of update rules.

Hi Rajib,
Go to the monitor -> Details tab -> Processing -> Choose the datapackage you want to debug -> Right click -> Simulate update -> Choose eather activate debugging in transfer rules (to debug in transfer rules) or debugging in update rules(for start routine and update rules).
You can mention the number records you want to debug also, if you have an idea of which records you want to debug you can give the number of that record.
Once the debug screen comes up, press F8...the control stops at first break point...from there you can do a step by step debugging (F5).
