Activate Logging in E Commerce Administration

Hi All
Could anyone please advise how to activate Logging in E Commerce 5.0. I have gone through the steps given in Note 1090753. But then also I cannot see anything in Logging in the ECommerce administration.
when I go to http://host:port/b2c/admin/index.html
Click on Logging still the error is
"Logging is now configured centrally in the J2EE Engine Visual Administrator (server service: Log Configurator) "
I shall be grateful for the help..
Thanks

Hi Nelson
Thanks very much for the reply. But as I mentioned I have already gone through and performed the steps mentioned in the note...1090753.
But in the note there is one more thing mentioned ---
Once you complete the steps in note, and if you go to E Commerce Admin, you will see 2 tabs...
One is Log Configuration, and second is Session Tracing...
I am not able to see those tabs, in E Commerce Administration.
Could you please help me out with that. Points gurenteed.
Thanks
Gaurav Sahai.
Here is the text taken over from the NOTE.
Accessing the logging
For example:http://localhost/b2b/admin/index.jsp
3. J2EE administrator login
User: Administrator
Password: ('Your password'. Default: 'blank')
4. Choose the 'Logging' link.
a page with two tabs 'Log Configuration' and 'Session Tracing' is displayed.
Tab Log Configuration
Here can be the default log for a special location configured. The location is usually your Java package.
It is also possible to set a general log for a location like com.sap.isa.catalog. In this case a log is written only for catalog classes.
The logs configured here is session independent. That means everything from every client / user dependent on the severity is written into the log.
Create Configuration
A new log configuration can be created with this link.
The following options can be set:
EffectiveSeverity
The severity of the entries in the log file.
Path
The path where the log file shall be written to.
Limit
The maximum size of the log file.
Count
The number of files are written in this location.
Formatter Type
Each type of log destination can print the messages in different formats.
Currently, there are three major types of formatter:
TraceFormatter
Human readable format. This is very likely to be the most commonly used formatter when users want to quickly understand what is going on with the application.
Please use this formatter when sending logs to SAP Support!
XMLFormatter
Suitable for file transfer to be further processed in other applications
ListFormatter
Output in this format serves like a router to send the data to be processed further by another application, e.g. a log viewer, instead of being read directly by an end-user
Formatter Pattern
The pattern that shall be used to write the logs. This option is only visible if the TraceFormatter is used.
Here a few placeholders:
%d = timestamp in readable form
%l = the location of origin (eg: com.sap.FooClass.fooMethod)
%c = the log controller the message was issued through (eg: com.sap.FooClass)
%t = the thread that emitted the message
%s = the message severity
%m = the formatted message text
%I = the message id
%p = the time stamp in milliseconds since January 1, 1970 00:00:00 GMT
%g = the group identification

Well, did you log in as the administrator. Win 8.1 may also have an disabled Administrator account like Win 7 that you may have to activate, but in most cases it is not necessary. You should disable anti-virus during the install. From you login (as long as you are an administrator) you may be able to right click on the install file and say run as administrator.

  • Problem with logging in to Apex administration

Please disregard the question, it was mistake in the address.
When I try to log in to Apex administration (http://<server>:8080/apex_admin, I get a dialog box requiring
    a user name and password
The dialog box has Windows security in the header and says:
The server <server> at XDB requires a username and password.
Fields for username and password are provided.
It's not clear to me what this message refers to, XDB database schema or Apex or system. I tried all combinations but without success.
Logging in to application administration (http://<server>:8080/apex) works without problems.
Apex is running on Oracle 11.1.
This behavior was first encountered on Windows 7, but the same happens if I log in to the server (running Windows XP) via remote desktop and use localhost as the server name.
    Has anyone experienced this?

    Hello Sin K,
so proxy and Tomcat are located on different machines as well? Is the proxy able to commuicate with the Tomcat on the configured internal ports and is the proxy able to lookup the hostname you configured for the Tomcat?
For the connector, the proxyName and proxyPort should be the parameters the client uses to call APEX. So if your clients should call via http://proxyserver:8080/testsin/apex the settings would be
    proxyName=proxyserver
proxyPort=8080Reason for this is that applications (e.g. the APEX Listener) generate there URL references with these parameters.
But does your proxy actually serve on port 8080? And is that port accessible by clients? Do clients accept cookies from that server?
In my case, there is only one 302 which redirects to http://host:port/apex/f?p=4500:1000:sessionid which is correct.
If you look into your first post request in firebug, what's in the request header?

  • Windows Backup - The backup application coud not start due to an internal error: You must be logged on as an administrator to perform this task. (0x8100000010).

Windows 7 users in my domain are unable to configure or change backup settings.  Users are able to open Control Panel > Backup and Restore, but when they click
Change settings, they receive the error: Windows Backup - The backup application coud not start due to an internal error: You must be logged on as an administrator to perform this task. (0x8100000010).
The same error is received when executing sdclt.exe /configure at the command prompt, regardless of whether the command prompt is launched using "run as administrator".
I've done significant testing, and have been able to determine that the local administrator account is able to configure backups before the computer is joined to the domain.  Once the computer is joined to the domain, the local administrator account
and domain users who are in the local administrators group are no longer able to configure backup and restore.  Domain administrators are able to configure backups.
This is a new issue, which began occuring sometime in the last 2 months.  3 months ago, users were able to configure backups without issue, and those computers with backups configured are still able to run their backups and do restores; however the
settings can no longer be changed.
Clearly something in the domain is doing this, but Group Policy has not been altered, and I can find no setting that would be doing this in any case.  Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,
So you mean you have tried different accounts in the local Administrator group and all of them failed?
If so, please check what group the local Administrator group belongs to? Does it belong to a group with limited privileges, such as the Guests group?

    rmelideo,
Firstly, you refer to "WebDB administrator" and "WebDB 1.6". This is not WebDB. You're confusing this with an entirely different product released in the late 90's.
You don't say what your specific error is. But the file does not exist errors in your Apache error log look suspicious. It looks like you have not copied the images directory from the HTML DB 2.0 distribution.

Even though it's your computer but your user account might not have sufficient privileges to install the software.
    Please try the following :

  • How do i reset admin password. no disc but system automativally logs me in as administrator and can access root user mode

I recenly got this macbook, MA&00LL/A, max OS X, V:10.4.11, 2GHz IntelCore 2 duo, 2GHz, When I power up it automatically logs me on as administrator but prompts for password when I try to access/change certain features.  I got the macbook from my cousin who has forgot password and has lost disc.  I can access root user mode but as iam unfamiliar with apple I am hesitant to delete anything without making things worse. Is their anyway I can reset this admin password without the disc or simply delete this user and reconfigure system as myself as administrator. step by step instructions would be appreciated at this stage till i familiarize myself more.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  If it came down to buying a disc, how much roughly do these cost???  thanks again

If you don't have your install disks you can get the 10.4 gray disks by calling Apple Store Customer Service at 1-800-676-2775 They can send them to you for about $16 per disk plus S & H. Just give them your serial number and they'll know which ones you need.
To find your serial number go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info, the System Profiler will then come up. The Serial Number (System) is down near the bottom of the Hardware Overview list.
If you don't have your install disc handy, then follow these steps
    1. Start up in single-user mode (hold Command-S as thecomputer starts up).
    2. Type: mount -uw /
    3. Press Return.
    4. Type this: passwd (user's short name) Replace "(user's shortname)" with the short name of the user account whose password you wish to reset. If you are not sure what the account name is, you can get a list of usernames by typing: ls /Users
    5. Press Return.
    6. Enter a new user password.
    7. Press Return.
    8. Type: reboot
    9. Press Return.

    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installing_Firefox#Mac_OS_X
Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean reinstall.
Install the new version that you have downloaded.

I am using Firefox 3.6. I need to log on as an administrator. I don't ever remember creating an administrator account or password for Firefox. What can I do so that I can either find my current administrator password or create a new password and/or administrator account?

You are probably being asked to use a Windows XP admin account.
You need to log into your XP Operating Sytem as an admin level user.
If you use Ctrl + Alt + Del twice from the logon screen you will be offered a choice of user account and password.
The 'Administrator' account itself is not normally seen when logging on.
XP probably sets up the Administrator account with a null default password so enter the name 'Administrator' and then put the cursor in the password fields and hit the return key.
It is always a good idea to actually enter and use a password, it is also a good idea to create a password reset floppy.
If you have any account that already has administrator priveliges that may be uses to change passwords and account names.
If all else fails a clean reinstall of the OS will probably get you in as an administrator.
