Activate Lost mode when device not registered?

Hello All,
they say we live n' learn !
I lost my beloved iPhone4 yesterday...& have since found out all about 'find my iPhone' & 'Lost mode'...thin is my 'device' was not registered to iCloud !!
so my question is....is there anyway possible of 'registering it' whilst I do not have it ? Or anyway it can be activated remotely into 'lost mode' without it being a registered device ?

Activation Lock, Lost Mode, Remote Wipe are all iCloud-based features.
No iCloud, no feature. And yeah, the registration needs to be done on the device.

Lost ipad, find device not enabled

Hi all,
I have a question regarding my lost iPad. I've had a folowing scenario:
a. Apple iPad Air with iOS 8. something
b. Device was NOT passcode protected
c. in iCloud settings, Find my iPad was turned OFF
After device was lost I did followng steps:
d. Logged to iCloud, found my iPad and turned lost mode on with passcode all messages, sound etc. I did this 4 days after loss since I didn't knew that this option exist.
e. Reported loss to police
My questions are:
1. Can someone wipe/reset to factory settings or register device to new apple ID without my apple id?
2. If somebody has even performed wiping/reset to factory settings immediately after finding it, can iCloud turn lost mode on and report me device location when device goes on line?
I have found opposite info regarding this so any help would be appreciated.

Just one thing, if I have not received any mails regardign recovery mode or password resets, flase login etc, does that mean that recovery mode has not been started?

How to UNDO lost mode if device is actually found

Hi all!
Son's POD 5th gen was lost last week (or 'found' by someone else).
We put it in lost mode and it was pending a 'play sound' and 'lost mode'.
Well - someone actually called us! They had bought it on craigslist and went to plug it in to their computer and our phone number message showed up.
We are supposed to get it back tonight.
My question is...how will I get it out of lost mode? Will it know that it is 'home' when we plug it into our itunes?

If the iPod already had a a screen lock passcode, you should just be able to enter that and unlock your iPod. If not, iCloud asked y to ender a four diget passcode when you placed it in losst mode. Use that passcode to unlock it. If necessary:
iCloud: Erase your device
and reset up the iPod or:
Connect the iOS device to your computer and try to make a backup
iOS: How to back up
Then restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Hi, i have a iphone 4. I signed up for free mobile me address, set up mobile me account on iphone, find my iphone is on on mobile me account on phone and yet when I go into mobile me account on laptop it says the device is not registered. cannot work out why? greg

Cannot remove lost mode when found findmyiphone

Hello,
I've had a good look online but cannot find anything that helps free up my phone.
Phone was stolen, I located it using findmyiphone and put it into lost mode. After going to the address it was located at and getting denial (and all surrounding addresses!) I hit the erase button. Later in the day I mail dropped all letter boxes and offered a £100 reward for return today, long story but i got it back, sim had been removed after my initial findmyiphone obviously work and scared them!
I was expecting to put the sim back in, fire it up, let it delete itself (I understand the "erase" request is irreversible) and the restore from my latest iCloud back up. Should be that simple… right?
Phone says "iPhone is disabled connect to iTunes", iTunes says "iTunes could not connect to “Lankstarr” because the iPhone is locked and in Lost Mode."
I cannot see anything on findmyiphone or iTunes to turn this off or reset the phone, can anyone help please?

I've gone with the recovery mode option described above, seems to be doing something!
It looks like somebody probably put an incorrect pin in too many times.

? How to locate your iPad if it's lost or stolen, and not registered

I recently brought a ipad, and have not had a chance to register it thru itunes yet, but i still have my reciept, can I have it located once someone try to
activate it. will it be flagged by apple saying it's a stolen product? how do i go about getting it back.....

Unless you enabled Find My iPad on it before it was stolen then there isn't any way to locate it. If you did enable it then you could try locating it either via http://icloud.com on a computer or Find My iPhone / Find My iPad on another device - but that will only work if it's connected to a network and the device hasn't already been wiped and/or Find My iPad disabled on it.
If you think that it was stolen then you should report it to the police. As a safety precaution you should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc.

Hp pavillion looks like it is in safe mode when its not

I have a hp pavillion slimline desktop computer and i had to get it looked at today because the last few weeks it's been acting up on me. it started off with the screen changing different colours like, green and blue and then pinky/red squares then yesterday it just would not turn on and there was a loud buzzing sound comming from the tower. the screen did not turn on so i had to get it looked at, the guy in the store said it was my video/graphics card that was the problem and he said that there was 2 grapics cards in the computer, one of the card was built in and the second one he said was the problem so he took it out. anyway now that i have the computer back and i turned it on. its running perfect except for one problem. it looks like its in safe mode, all the browsers i have look like they are in wide screen and the colours of text and and different things are a gey/ light blue contrast, is there anything i can do to change it please help thanks.
ps: just wondering was it the person who initially fixed the problem not install a driver correctly or do i need to change screen resolution. as it says the recomended resolution should be 1440 x 960 but when i go to setting it doesnt give me that option to go that high. any advice or help would be great thanks.

Data charges when device not in use

Last month I received a bill for over $950 in data overage fees.
When I contacted Verizon for an explanation, it turned out no one could tell me day by day what the charges were. Essentially I was told, your device, your use, your charges.
Eventually, someone contacted their fraud department on my behalf, and I was told there was no one else using my device. I don't even know how they could determine this.
I was also told there was use during times the device would not have been in use unless someone was somehow hacking into it without my knowledge and clearly without my consent.
So far, I have been told that Verizon may be willing to work with me on these overage charges, but all I get when I ask for help is told the particular person I am talking with cannot help me, but maybe I can try another department.
I have spoken with management who likewise passed me off to someone else.
I am wondering if anyone else out there has had similar problems with Verizon? Has anyone found anyone who has helped them through a billing matter like this? I am thinking either this is a billing error or someone can access my device without me knowing about it, and from far away, as no one can get that close without me knowing about it.

How do I sync my iphone with iTunes when "Device " not displayed when I plug in?

I plug into computer and and no syncing occurs,no device shown in left column, and no error is diplayed. Device does pop up in iphoto though. whats up with my Tunes not syncing. Help!!!

I am trying to capture with a Panasonic gs120
I have one tape that I shot on this camera and I can capture perfectly, however another tape from another camera, one that shoots 24 fps, i cannot capture.
I have tried changing all my settings and changing the frame rate to 24, however i can only get the video to capture if i put it as an uncontrollable device and therefore i have no timecode.
any suggestions, i would really like to be able to capture tc as well.
is there a way to interpret footage before you capture in case you dont know what the frame rate is? how do you find the right setting withotu changing every single one of them?

Do you have access to the camcorder the footage was shot on? Or a DV VCR, rather than a DV camcorder?
You see, when that camcorder shot those clips, it recorded 30 frames (29.97), but inserts flags in the metadata indicating that it was shot with 24P (or 24PA) pulldown.
Many DV camcorders cannot read the 24P or 24PA flags, but most DV VCRs can. And the camcorder that shot the clips, or the same make and model, also can.
There could still be a problem with the recording, but you can't know that until you're tried capturing with a device that can read the flags.

Device not registered

Hi, I've owned my iPod Touch for 5 years now and was almost certain it was registered to my Apple Account since it never asked me to register like all my other devices do if I forgot or didn't have time to the first time I used it. Recently my apartment was burglarized and my iPod was stolen. I was wondering if there was anyway to maybe see the devices that have been connected to my computer or devices that have my account logged in or registered to them. I know you can check registered computers but wasn't sure if there was a way to see apple devices and get their serial numbers. It was a 2nd generation touch I believe.
I'm in college and this happened over Thanksgiving Break. In a couple days I'm going back to my parents house where I should still have the box it came in and all my problems with this should be solved but was hoping that I could get my serial number now so I can give it to the police sooner rather than later in the slimmest chance they would find it trying to be sold.
Thanks for all the help and I guess I'm going to have to double check my account next time to be sure everything is registered.

Lost Mode - useless when Location disabled, even online ?

   Hi,
   My iPhone was stolen by a (not so close) friend !
   I went last week to a party. Only close and casual friends. At some point we talked and compared some apps between our
phones, I locked/unlocked mine several times, in front of the others, they did the same. However, after some time, everyone of us has been engaged in other activities
   At some point I received a call on my other iPhone, and I went outside to be able to understand each other, because it was a pretty loud party ;-)
   Anyway, I left my primary iPhone (for business) on the table.
   When I came back, surprise, my iPhone was missing. Naturally, I suspected a joke or a prank for one of my closest friends. To not embarrass myself, I just tried to use Find my iPhone and see the state of the missing device.
It was Offline, probably the thief turned it off. I think it was one of us which, when playing around with apps, he saw my LockScreen code when I tapped it to unlock the phone.
I left the party. after a while, I tried again Find my iPhone.
Surprise again ! The iPhone was Online but Location Services Off. I tried to put it in Lost mode, but without phone number and
message, just to locate, not to alarm the thief. Result was the same, "Online. Location Services Off "
After one day, no matter how many times I tried, the thief (probably knowing that I have unlimited plan) continued to use my phone and it appears the same, "Online. No Location Available" (on iCloud, on Web Browser window) and "Online. Location Services Off" on Find my iPhone app , on my other iPhone.
My business phone was iPhone 4S, with iOS 6.1.6 (last iOS 6 update). I didn't upgraded iOS on this one because I needed a quicker response when I receive important calls or updates, mail documents etc. And, indeed , it worked like a charm !
So not being able to locate and get back my iPhone, I was forced to erase it (at least I hope it was erased OK). As a result, I couldn't locate it anymore.
Thanks God I had nothing compromising, or business sensitive on that phone! I changed, anyway, all my mail passwords, deleted from iCloud all my reminders and notes etc. Good Bye, good old iPhone !
   I have to mention again, I have unlimited plan, voice and data traffic, so I was not afraid of higher payments, but I thought I should go to the telephone company and request a detailed list of calls after I lost it, maybe I could find a clue, with police help, of course. But I initially thought and trust it would be a breeze to find my iPhone with iCloud, Find my iPhone, Data Roaming, unlimited data traffic if, eventually, it would be lost.
   And I'm absolutely sure I have all of these services active, all my iDevices have the same security settings.
   But, to be absolutely sure, I tried the same thing on my other (personal, non business) phone. iPhone 4S, iOS 8.1.1, this time.
   So I double-checked all security settings I could and deactivated only Location Services, from Privacy.
   Results were absolutely identical ! Even in Lost Mode, my only left iPhone was impossible to be found via iCloud (Web Browser) or from my iPad, no matter how many times and what I tried, after switching off Location Services (again, GSM/3G/Cellular/EU Internet - active - unlimited data plan), Data Roaming On, WIFI On, only Location Services disabled from Privacy settings.
( My only big mistake, I think, was to reveal and use my Lockscreen code in front of my friends. But I thought we are all friends, why wouldn't ?)
I tried even to put my iPhone outside to have a clear view to satellites for GPS. No change !
And a major issue (or forgotten maybe, extremely simple feature) is still to not being able to change Lock screen
code/Password, once it was set already no matter what iOS is installed (6-7-8...)
So, the big Question remains the same. What is the (REAL) utility of Find my iPhone app/Service, when, just switching
off Location Services, even Lost Mode can't remotely enable it ? Contrary to what Apple claims.
What should I do in the future to avoid a similar situation ? What I missed/messed ?
Please help me to understand, anyone who can help me and really knows what he/she's talking about. I'm sick of suppositions, and neverending questions/ideas off topic.

Below are some pictures taken during testing Lost Mode on my only (now) iPhone:
Started "Find my iPhone" on Web Browser, I switched off Location Services on my iPhone :
Until now, everything's OK, as expected.
As advertised, Lost Mode rest assures us that will enable (temporary) Location Services, until unlocking:
To be sure it's a working data link, I tested "Play Sound", worked OK, then entered a number and message for testing purpose
Starting/activating Lost Mode...
Lost Mode activated with success, Location Services not. Still, my iPhone locked and displays 1234 call
and the message "This iPhone has been lost. Please call me".
I even put my iPhone outside, under clear sky, for 15 minutes, still nothing new on iCloud.
Of course, after unlocking my phone (Lost mode deactivated automatically), but still nothing (normal, in this case, without Lost Mode) and turning back ON Location Services, my iPhone was magically found . I even received a notice on mail, claiming my iPhone was found near my actual position

So, what's wrong with Lost Mode, why it doesn't do what it should ? What I'm doing wrong ??

P.S. I found yesterday that my phone was bought by someone identified by the police. They asked me what I want to do. I asked buyer's name, it's nobody I know, I let him in peace, no further complains. I moved on...     but disappointed by claimed features in iPhone (regardless iOS 6-8) which are not working at all
(at least for me)...

Apple says contrary, even when you press Lost Mode, the following message appears :
"Lost mode enables Location Services. Find my iPhone and other apps will be able tu use the location of this iPhone until it's unlocked".
Pretty clear to me and tested but No Location detected by Find my iPhone/iCloud. At the other hand, if you looked at the pictures I posted, you'll see on my testing iPhone the little arrow which indicates the Location Services were started in Lost Mode. Just not detected in iCloud/Find my iPhone/Lost Mode. So, useless or not functioning properly (at all, in fact). Why ?
And, from the Apple support page (the link is below)
"If your device is online when you put it in Lost Mode or lock it, it locks and tracking begins (if applicable). If Location Services is turned off on the device, it’s temporarily turned on to track your device’s location."

And they claims the same for ALL iOS last versions since iOS 6 (since they introduced Lost Mode)
And yes, my phone which I still have, and the lost one, were both Online, so it could transmit location data, during Lost Mode, just it doesn't happens.

Will it be possible to retrieve a Lightroom 5 serial number if you lost it and was not registered on Adobe? But I have the number on the inside box of Lightroom 5 only?

Refer to this webpage for the locations of various LR files, paying attention to the one that says Serial Number:

Go to the folder it says, and open the .lrreg file with a text editor, like Notepad or Wordpad, and look for the serial number that will be 6 groups of 4 digits beginning with 1160. Don’t post the serial-number here, of course, as this is a public forum.
If you have had more than one LR version on your computer, e.g. LR3 or LR4, there may be more than one serial number to determine, as you’ll need an older serial-number if your LR5 one is an upgrade.
