Activate Monitoring for System

Hi,
when I try to Setup System Monitoring, in the step Activate Monitoring for System can see only the production system, while in the smsy I setup all my development systems too.
How can I do to setup a development system in the Monitoring Setup ?
Thank's in advanced
Francesc

Hello Francesc,
Go to DSWP-> your solution-> solution landscape maintenance.
right click on the development system and click on the option "put in solution". this will activate your development system also for system monitoring.
please revert back if solved.

  • How to activate Monitoring for Others Software Component ?

    Hi,
I have 1 non-sap server with MSSQL database, i want to monitoring this server as well in my SAP Solution Manager : Solution Monitoring.
I have created new server, database, system, product, logical system and assign it to the solution.
but when i am trying to set "Activate Monitoring for Ohters Software component" no CCMS_Context selected from the drop down menu ?
    Please advise ?
    Thank you and Best Regards

    Hi Sunil,
Thanks for your reply. I check the Note:408527 but what worries me is this section in the note
    Note 3:
If the MONITORING attribute is used, BR986W warnings referring to fragmented indexes are no longer displayed. As a result, this means of
determining fragmented indexes is no longer available
so what about if that index get fragmented. ?

  • DSWP : activate monitoring for other servers

We have added some non-SAP servers and applications in our monitoring
    solution.
When I setup the system monitoring (DSWP Tcode) and I try to add CCMS
alert for "other servers", these alerts are not display in the
monitoring. It works well for "other software components", but we need
to make a distinction between servers.

before ur system is attached to load balancing, your both physical web servers should have a default peoplesoft login url, see you can access the web servers separately with that urls.
    Thanks

  • Solution Manager System Monitoring for non SAP system

    Dear Support,
I have configured the CCMS Agent (SAPCCMSR) for non-SAP system (Windows 2008R2).
The system information (e.g. CPU, Memory, Disks etc) has already showed in RZ20 of Central Monitoring system (e.g. Solution Manager).
How can I do to configure to display these information in the Alert Inbox tab on System Monitoring Workcenter?
    Best regards,
    Fan Hung

    Hi,
Have you defined and added corresponding logical systems for the respective satellite systems?
Here is the sequence of steps you've to do:
    in SMSY:
    1) Define server, DB, Systems
    2) Generate READ, TMW, TRUSTED RFCs to the satellite systems
    3) define logical systems and assign the satellite system to it
    in Solution_Manager:
    1) define new solution
    2) add the logical system into the solution
If these steps are successful, you should be able to see the satellite system in SYSTEM MONITORING in Solution_Manager.
Have you already done these steps?
    After performing these steps:
    Solution_Manager>choose relevant solution>operations setup>Solution Monitoring>System monitoring>Activate monitoring> choose the system and activate monitoring.
    Your system will then appear.
    Does this help any way?

  • SM: System Monitoring for PI7.0

Now,I'm implemente a Solution Manager project for System monitoring module.who could tell me about how to collect data on part of Java via CCMS?
if need to configure CCMS Agent, then how to do it?
    thanks a lot.

    Hi,
As far as configuring CCMS is condisdered.
    1. Create the CSMREG User
    2. Activate Background Dispatching
    3. Activate the Internet Communication Manager (ICM)
    4. Activate Central System Dispatching
    5. Monitor Remote ABAP Systems
By default, the monitoring architecture monitors only the local ABAP system. You
must perform the following steps to monitor remote systems:
          a. First define RFC connections from the CEN to the respective monitored ABAP
system (see Monitoring Multiple Systems: Defining RFC Connections).
          b. Make the monitoring architecture aware of these RFC connections (see
          monitoring Multiple Systems).
    6. Prepare the Registration of the CCMS Agents
This SAP Help link really explained beautifully to monitor CCMS.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/en/49/6272376d3bfa2be10000009b38f8cf/content.htm
    i) Please let me know the systems in your landscape that you want ot monitor, so that i could help you.
ii) Do you have an ABAP Instance or Java Instance?
iii) What are the alerts you would like to configure?
Incase you require more details revert back.

  • How can i use my smart TV as a second monitor for my Power mac (2010) via HDMI cable? i've made the connection but no options show in system prefs display.

How can i use my smart TV as a second monitor for my Power mac (2010) via HDMI cable? i've made the connection but no options show in system prefs display.
    the computer:Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.9.5), 2 x 2.66 Ghz 6-Core intel Xeon
    the TV: LG Smart tv

The Mac uses a highly-parameterized universal Driver for every display. The parameters are set at certain times when a query is sent to your display. The display MUST answer with its name and capabilities, or the screen stays dark. A TV set that is off or "not paying attention" because it is set to a different port when the query occurs will rarely answer, and so will often remain dark.
You can use tools in the System Report to see whether your display has been detected at all. If it has, the report will look something like this, but its name will appear:
The times when the query is sent are:
    • at Startup
    • at wake from sleep
    • when the Mac-end of the cable is inserted
    • when using the Option ( Detect Displays ) button in displays preferences

  • Basic Strategy / Best Practices for System Monitoring with Solution Manager

I am very new to SAP and the Basis group at my company. I will be working on a project to identify the best practices of System and Service level monitoring using Solution Manager. I have read a good amount about SAP Solution Manager and the concept of monitoring but need to begin mapping out a monitoring strategy.
We currently utilize the RZ20 transaction and basic CCMS monitors such as watching for update errors, availability, short dumps, etc.. What else should be monitored in order to proactively find possible issues. Are there any best practices you all have found when implimenting Monitoring for new solutions added to the SAP landscape.... what are common things we would want to monitor over say ERP, CRM, SRM, etc?
Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions!

    Hi Mike,
Did you try the following link ?
If not, it may be useful to some extent:
    http://service.sap.com/bestpractices
---> Cross-Industry Packages ---> Best Practices for Solution Management
You have quite a few documents there - those on BPM may also cover Solution Monitoring aspects.

Im currently using awesome, its great except for one thing, there is no system monitor, like gnome-system-monitor for example. though I want something that dosent depend on gnome and displays remainning laptop battery time, aswell as mounted file systems, ram/cpu/network usage and a list of prosesses.

You can play around a bit with the functions that get called/displayed in the main loop. It depends on zsh and makes use of this cronjob (in /etc/cron.hourly/pacsync):

  • Disable monitoring for non-system disks.

    Hi all,
Our backup server dynamically mounts disks (with drive letters) when it's backing up a Virtual Machine.
These disks are giving a lot of alerts in our monitoring that we don't need, therefore we want to disable monitoring for these disks. What is the best way to disable monitoring for these non-system disks ? As I said, these disks are dynamically mounted and
    unmounted ...
Any experience with this case ?
    Kind Regards,
    J. Monnens

This is a bit surprising, since the logical disk discovery only runs once a day, plus it's not supposed to discover network and removable drives.
That means that your disks are mounted when the discovery runs and that they appear as "real" logical disks...
Unfortunately there is no "sync time" parameter for this discovery, which would have allowed you to specify the time of the day at which the discovery runs; thus allowing you to set a time at which you know the drives are not mounted.
Is there any other parameter that could help identifying these specific disks, besides their letter, so you could add them to a dynamic group?
Otherwise, what you could maybe try is to create your own logical disk discovery based on the native one, but with specific settings that would exclude your drives and then disable the native discovery.
But this again implies that you have something that would let you identify specifically your mounted drives... Also the native discovery is a quite complex VBS, I wouldn't actually recommend disabling/modifiying it.
Maybe I could have another idea with more details about your environment...

  • UCS Management Pack for System Center 2012 OpsMgr add monitor wizard error

We're successfully using the 2.6.0.179 version of the UCS Management Pack for System Center 2012 Operations Manager in our 2012 SP1 OpsMgr environment; however, in the new 2012 R2 OpsMgr environment we've stood-up and in which we installed the 2.6.2.0 version of the UCS MP, we're getting an error when trying to run the Add Monitoring Wizard under the Management Pack Templates node of the Authoring pane. We get the same error from the 2.6.1.0 version of the UCS MP as well. The text of the error is as follows:
"The page [Cisco.UCS.MP.UI.Proxy.Template.Page.ProxyDetailsPage] in the assembly [Cisco.UCS.MP.UI.Culture="",PublicKeyToken="6c96076cdf2c87a",Version="2.6.0.0"] could not be loaded. Please make sure that the account you are running under has sufficient privileges to load the given assembly, or the management pack that defines this page is installed or the assembly containing the page is in the path of the executible or that the page derives from known Operations Manager page type."
I'm an admin user in OpsMgr, so this should not be a user privilege issue, and that leaves the MP itself. The fact that a 2.6.0.0 version is mentioned makes me wonder if the base version of the MP must be installed before the 2.6.2 version. I'd test this, but we no longer have that version, and its no longer available for download from Cisco that I can see.
Has any dealt with this issue successfully, or have any insight into the problem?

Solved...the requirement is that you must do the MP configuration from the SCOM console on the SCOM Management Server where you installed the Cisco UCS MP; you can't do it from a SCOM console on a remote computer like I was trying to do.

  • RFC destinations for system monitoring could not be assigned

    Hi,
I am having 2 system landscape DEV (DEV/QA), PRD. I want to monitor both system from Solution manager and created both system, db, server & logical component in SMSY.
    Problems:
    1. System not allowing to assign RFC for (PRD) system monitoring where as it is working for DEV system.
    2. When running System monitoring setup only PRD is showing there, both server/system should be shown ?
    3. When i am tring to assign system in RZ21 manully then also system giving error in case of PRD server. where as DEV system is created in RZ21 -->> Technical Infra. --->>> Display topology (Error when calling the underlying C function (function 'SALS_MS_GET_LOCAL_MS_INFO')
    Message no. RA336)
Please help me to solve this issue.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Tejinder

    Hello Arwel,
if the solution manager should monitor itself via EWA, you have to set "mySAP.com Support Workplace system" to "NONE". To get there, start transaction SDCC in you solution manager system -> Maintenance -> remote enviroment -> default target system.
    Hope that will help you.
    regards,
    Marco

CCMS is used for system monitoring , why should we use solution manage ?
Whats the relationship between CCMS system and SolMan?
    Thank you .

    hi,
I just want to ask a question. At our client we have solution manager and CCMS. There is data in CCMS I can extract, it is loading on BW side ok the same number of recs,  but the problem on CCMS cubes says there are the same number of record in the cube and also showing as the data is ready for the reporting. But when I run the report and view the data as listcube it is empty.
ANy of you have the situation like this cube say it has the data but when do th BEX or infocube contents the cube is empty nothing in there. The same thing is happening with hourly, 15 minute and daily cubes.
Anyhelp on this matter is appreciated

    Hi Experts,
I want to Activate Deadline Monitoring for Standard SRM Confirmation Approval Workflow. Is there any way I do this without disturbing the standard workflow? Using Alerts?
Also pls advice if I can activate the deadline monitoring directly in the standard template without having it copied to a Z/Y wf template?
    Thank you!
    Vj

    Friends,
I want to set a deadline monitoring for a case when the approver doesnt execute the workitem even after 2days. (so I believe I need to use "Requested Start")?
Further I understand how this is  done, my question is can we do change it to the standard template or do I need to copy it and then make the changes.
Also Kindly share some information on using SRM ALERTS for the same functionality to send reminders/alets to approvers on delay of approving task.
    Thank you so much.
