Activate my iPhone 3Gs with BOB
If I want to activate my iPhone 3Gs with BOB or Telering, I get the following message: "the iphone located in the SIM card is apparently not supported". With an A1, Orange or DREI card does it work. Where is the problem? Thanks in advance.
You cannot activate an iPhone without a valid SIM.

Try popping out the SIM card and turn off the phone.
Pop in the SIM card once again and turn on the phone, make sure that the SIM card is placed and seated perfectly in the tray!

AT&T are unlock my phone, official!!!1) Check your iTunes account.
2) you have to be at your computer. Apple is very smart, the place you put your I'd or password is not near data base.
3) make sure your ID and Password is correct. When type on the phone, if you don't check you might press the wrong key some time cases where people have long Neil.
4) go to apple website n reset the I'd or password. -

New iPhone 3GS with 3.1.2 firmware lost connection and de-activate itself.
I was facing a problem with my iPhone 3GS (with 3.1.2 firmware)that prompt for "Restore is needed" and then lost All Network connection (phone, wifi, bluetooth....). I reboot my phone and its stay on Un-activate condition, which only allow me to call emergency number (which i don't know).
This already happen to me second times with a replacement phone by apple store. So I worry that i will have the same problem even Apple replace another new phone for me.
Please help and let me know what actually happenning on the phone or this firmware.No, it's not a common problem. In fact, 3.1.2 contains a fix for this a similar problem which was a bug in 3.1.

Not a good sign. Try forcing the phone into recovery mode & restoring it. If this fails, make an appointment at an Apple store:
Turn your phone off. Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. -

I am experiencing the same issue and could use some advice:
Yesterday I plugged my Iphone 3GS into my computer and I selected in Itunes to update to the latest IOS 5.1.1.
Before I did this the iphone worked correctly, and after I did this it will not let me access the apps at all. I went to the Apple store and the rep told me I needed to have a working AT&T sim installed in it to complete the upgrade. I went to the AT&T store and had them put one of their working sim card in and it would not work. The AT&T rep said he has seen several people with Iphone 3GS who updated to the latest IOS 5.1.1 whos phones will not recognize the sim card and thus will not let you get to the apps.
Does anyone know how to correct this problem? -

If your phone was previously hacked to unlock it, when you updated the hack was removed and it's re-locked to the original carrier. The phone will now activate and operate only with that original carrier.

1. You could not have installed iOS 6.1.1, it is 6.1.2
2. It will get activated - if unlocked, with any SIM else you need SIM; active or inactive from the Carrier. -

After update on 6.0.1. I can't activate my iPhone 3gs. The phone is unlocked from T-Mobile Germany.
I tried activation via phone and via iTunes, with and without SIM card inserted.
Every time iPhone show me a message: "Your iphone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable."
Any help is welcome.

If the phone was previously unlocked by an unauthorized method, it was re-locked to its original carrier when you updated. It will now acivate and operate only with that carrier, using their SIM card.

Your iPhone was hacked/jailbroken in order to unlock to to work with T-Mobile. When you updated it you broke the hack and the iPhone is now locked again to the original cell provider, most likely AT&T.

After unlocking you will need to use Google and learn the procedure to clear the unlock hack and Restore it. -

note : i dont have the at&t simYou need to put a sim card into the phone to be able to activate it - you can't activate a phone without a sim card.
If the phone has just been unlocked, then you don't need an AT&T sim card. Just put any sim card of your choice into the phone and if it is now unlocked, then it should work.
