Activate or switch device issue

I purchased an Iphone 5 with my upgrade with the intent to turn around and sell it on ebay (same thing I did with my iphone 4 upgrade last time). I received the phone, brought it to the verizon store to have it activated and then get switched back to my Droid...all went well and I even called verizon later to confirm the iphone 5 had been activated on my account. Now my problem is if I go to "activate or switch device" I am still getting a "verify your new device" page with the iphone 5. Shouldn't this have gone away once my iphone 5 had been activated on my account?
With my previous upgrades, once I activated/deactivated the new phone and reactivated my old phone I was free to activate any phone I wished on that number. There are no issues with "activate or switch device" on the other 2 lines on my account, just the line I used to get the upgrade.
Any ideas?

Call customer service from a line NOT involved in the switch you want to do - 800-922-0204.  Sometimes I've been able to switch devices on my own, but the last few times it's been glitchy, and I've had to call CS.  To Verizon's credit, the CS reps have been very helpful and have managed to get the correct device(s) activated in relatively short order.
From the main menu, choose Option 4 (Other) and then say AGENT at the prompt - you should be connected to a live person pretty quickly.

Is the 2nd device VZW branded and is the ESN clear?
Sure have.  Both devices are Verizon branded with clean ESN numbers.  *228 option 1 on the seconed unactivated device gives me "were sorry this device cannot be activated at this time."   This is the last screen i see before i hit next.  Next screen is blank and isnt even loading.

  • Switching devices and Downgrading from Z10 OS10 to 9800 OS6

i recently upgraded my Blackberry Touch 9800 running OS6  to a Blackberry Z10 Running OS10
i am not to impressed with the battery life and features of the Z10. Now i need to downgrade i.e. switch devices back  from Z10 to 9800.
The Z10 using Desktop Link and the 9800 uses Desktop Manager.
Trying to Switch device does not work.
Can anyone please advise on what to do?
    Regards
    J

BlackBerry doesn't think anyone will want to switch from the Z10 back to a BBOS device so they haven't built any type of device switch for that direction. Hopefully, as the poster before me stated, you have a backup from your previous device that you can restore to the 9800.
Note: Do NOT attempt to put the micro sim into the 9800 using any kind of sim adapter. I ruined my 9810 attempting to do that. The sim got stuck and wouldn't come out. It ripped out one of the sim card contacts. Just giving the word of caution.

  • DM Switch Device Wizard prompts in another language?. German maybe?.

I recently switched from a Palm Treo 700p to a red Blackberry Curve 8330.  I installed the Desktop Manager using the User Tools CD and updated it to the most current version (4.7) without running into any problems.  However, when I try to use the Switch Device Wizard to transfer my contacts and calendar to the Curve, the wizard dialog box appears in a language other than English with all options and buttons grayed out except Cancel.  I've searched everywhere online, but I have not been able to find a similar occurrence or fix.  Can anyone please help me with this issue?
BTW, here are some additional information about my devices and computer.

  • Can't get the Switch Device Wizard to work - HELP:

currently using version 4.3.0.17 of the Blackberry desktop manager and version 4.2 of the Palm desktop.  When I try to use the Switch device wizard, I get to the screen where it asks me to select the software, either the Palm Treo or the Windows Mobile and I can't go any further.  I can see the tick boxes but it won't let me select anything and the program doesn't do anything, i.e. no activity.  Any suggestions?  Has anyone actually gotten this to work?  Thanks,

  • Any alternative to Switch Device Wizard

I had to get a new Blackberry 8320 because the port for charging or backing up the phone died.  All my backed up data is now trapped in a file on my PC and I can't used Switch Device Wizard because I can't get a connection to my old Blackberry.  Anyone know of an alternative way to uploading the data into my new Blackberry?

  • Transfering data using switch device manager from old palm to new curve 8330....please help!!!

Trying for hours to import data using switch device manager from old Palm Treo and Palm Desktop 4.2 to my new Blackberry Curve 8330.  Blackberry seem to connect...but second step of choising Palm or Mircrosort will not allow me to select anything.  I do not believe Palm is connecting...Is my palm to old?  If I cannot tranfer data this way, especially contacts is there any other way besides entering it into Blackberry one by one?

    Hi there!
If the device switch wizard is not working, check this KB to be sure all of your Palm things are compatible and that you are using the correct process:
KB05459 How to use the Switch Device Wizard to switch from another smartphone to a BlackBerry smartphone
And then see this KB for some troubleshooting help
KB10722 BlackBerry Desktop Manager does not detect the Palm software when using the Switch Device Wizard
And if it happens that it will not work, then you will have to find out how to export from your Palm to an ASCII or CSV file...then you can import it with this process:
KB11194 How to import contacts from an CSV file to the BlackBerry device
Good luck and let us know!

  • Where are my BBM Contacts after switching devices?

Hi, I switched to a BB 9320 from an older blackberry.  My older blackberry had updated to the newer version of BBM.   I recently used Blackberry Manager to switch devices.  It switched all data except my BBM contact info.  Is a fast way to recover my contacts?  I tried the recovery process also and nothing gives.  I open BBM and I see that it brought my name and my display picture but nothing else.  I've seached the forums and follow all the suggestions to bring over the contacts but nothing gives.  Is there a way to manually extract them?  Can anyone shed any light?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
It depends on the versions of BBM. Since BBM7, there is no ability to backup/restore the BBM contacts. Rather, they are stored "in the cloud" in your BBID account...as long as you use the same BBID account, your contacts will be populated from the servers to the device. If that does not happen, the usual reason is that you did not use the exact same BBID on the new device...which renders it impossible to access the BBM contacts stored on the server with your prior BBID.
Good luck and let us know!

  • No network connection after switching devices? Please Help!

So yesterday I switched my Droid Eris to a used but in good condition Droid X on-line (using the activate/switch device). I can make calls and text on my "new" phone, but I can't access the Market to download apps or go on the web browser. It says that I have no Network connection. I went ahead and turned on my "old" phone (Eris) and even though I cannot make calls or texts, I can STILL access Facebook, Market etc....
    What is the problem?

    Jason0813 wrote:
Yes, I'm sorry I didn't mention. I programmed the phone by calling *228 and selecting option 1. After no luck with internet access on my "new" phone I went ahead and turned both off overnight. Still no luck.
    Any other suggestions.
The other phone should not function so there is something screwed up with the switch over. Call *611 and have customer service look into the problem. 800-922-0204 is the land line number for Verizon.
My guess is the data plan has to be switched over to the replacement device in order to use the net and Google Play Store.

  • How to use a USB-to-parallel adapter to communicate with my switch device?

My computer doesn't have a parallel port, so I must use the USB port and a USB-to-parallel adapter to communicate with my switch device. Unfortunately in WindowsXP printer configure that show USB001 Virtual printer for USB. How should I control my USB-to-Parallel converter to send the Pin1 and Pin3 high? How should I decide that I/O address in Labview (traditional LPT1 is 378AH) ?

    Hi Kelvin,
I understand that you want to control pins on your serial port using LabVIEW. Since you are using Windows XP, only LabVIEW version 7.0 will be able to control the pins. The pins can be controlled by modifying the values of the access registers that windows associates with each pin. If you are using LabVIEW 7.0, then the VI's located on the Funtions >> Advanced >> Port I/O palette should help you assign values to the proper pins.

  • How can I de-activate a mac device remotely

I already have the maximum allowed five devices linked to my apple ac. One of them is an old and out-of-use laptop that I need de-activate as a device in order to activate my iphone. How can I de-activate the old laptop without finding it and booting it up? Can I de-activate it from my main Mac desktop?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420
If you need to authorize your new computer and are unable due to already having five authorized computers, you can deauthorize all computers by doing the following:
Click iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
Click the Account button again (your Apple ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than two authorized computers. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/).

  • Z10 switch devices fiasco

I've just spent 3 hours trying to get a replacement Z10 up and running (still not got all my settings or Apps sorted). I cracked the screen on my last Z10 and the insurance company sent out a replacement. I backed up everything through the Blackberry Link desktop software, so imagined it would be a simple matter to switch devices and have all my settings, data and apps transferred. Problems started with the fact that the "switch device" option in BB link needs you have your old device available when you try use this service. I had to give the courier my broken handset when he dropped of my replacement, so I didn't have it available. I imagine someone who has lost their phone or if it's completely unresponsive would also have the same problem. This is a really bad oversight on Blackberry's part!! Next I tried to use the back up I had saved from my broken phone. This wouldn't work at first because the "personal files" were not present on the new handset. I finally got that sorted, but then had to go through everything again manually to try get my phone even close to what it was like before. So now in my BB Link software I have two phones listed, but can't merge them (and I'm not going to delete the old one till I'm 100% sure I've got everything in place). Come on Blackberry, sort this out!! I'm a tech savvy guy and I found it excruciating trying to deal with all this. You had such an amazing opportunity with the launch of BB10 and you have totally messed it up. Your old operating system might of been dated, BUT at least it worked!! (I was using one of my old Blackberry's while I waited for the replacement). I really don't want to see the end of this company, but if they keep shooting themselves in the foot like this, I don't hold out much hope for them.

  • Switch device wizard freezes (Palm T|X to BlackBerry Pearl)

I am trying to transfer my calendar from my Palm T|X to my new BlackBerry Pearl.  I realized I didn't have the correct version of the Palm software, so I uninstalled it and downloaded the right one.  It synced correctly with my Palm, so my calendar is correct in the Palm Desktop software.  When I open the BlackBerry Desktop Software and try to run the Switch Device Wizard, it recognizes that I have a Palm, and starts transfering.  It gets to 1435/1536 calendar events and freezes.  The program becomes non-responsive, and I've had to use the task manager to kill it several times.  I've read several similar posts, none of which ever seem to be resolved, and I'm a bit concerned.  I'd appreciate any help.

    Cami,
Unplug the BB for the first part of the Switch, and plug it back in when it asks.
And correct--Outlook is the best and most common option for organizing your BB data on the desktop and syncing back to the BB.
