Activated today. Can make calls but can't receive any yet?

Subject pretty much sums it up. Tried to call my new number using skype and it said the number doesn't exist. I've just activated my phone a couple hours ago, and have made 3 successful phone calls since. Any ideas?

I am sorry to learn you are having problems with your new phone.  Did you port your number from another carrier?  You can power your phone off and back on.  When it is back on, please dial *228 (Send) and press option 1, when prompted, from the device you want to activate and listen for further instructions.  Once the programming is complete, press [End].  If you had a different phone activated on this number, please make sure that device is powered all the way off while you are programming your new phone.   
Once this is complete, attempt to make a call, and possibly call your 10-digit mobile number from another device.  
If these steps do not help, please send me a Private Message with your 10-digit mobile number, a callback number, and a best time to reach you.  (I will be in the office until 7:00 PM CST.)

    I am having MacBook Pro late 2013 with OSX Yosemite and iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1 . I have noticed that even after switching on cellular calls on Facetime App preferences both in iPhone and Mac, I am able to call via my Mac but it doesn't ring up or notify when my iPhone receive a call.
    If anybody has faced the same issue and fixed it, please help.

    Cellular calling doesn't yet work reliably. Any improvement may only be temporary.
    Make sure you've followed the instructions in this support article. Note that both iCloud and FaceTime on the Mac must be signed in to the same Apple ID; those are two separate steps. Also note that the Mac and the phone must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Ethernet won't work. Trying to pair the phone to the Mac as a Bluetooth device won't work either.
    If cellular calling still doesn't work, sign out of FaceTime and sign back in. You may have to do the same on the phone. The email address that you use as your Apple ID must be able to receive FaceTime calls.

    I was successful in activating my iPhone. The process was completed eleven hours ago. I transferred my old cell phone number to my new iPone. Now I can make calls, but when someone calls me, my old cell phone rings. How can I fix that?

    Same here. Everything works -- except incoming calls.
    The activation email I got Friday night said my old phone was set to be turned off "on or after" 9:52 pm Saturday (24 hours after my original activation). Phone started working overnight Friday night -- but as of Sunday 9:20 am EDT, incoming calls are STILL going to my old phone.
    This would appear to be a network issue involving ATT and the old carrier.

From my earlier SIM I was able to make calls but now From other SIM i can not. it says that you are not allowed to make calls from this phone. how to fix it. felt even emotionally bad about it in front of my finance whom I gifted this phone.     So you have already used the phone with a previous SIM card and the phone worked? .... meaning that you could make and receive calls?

    just try a hard reset on ur phone, i had almost d same prob. sound can b heard from headphones but headset buttons were not working during call, so cant accept n reject call with BH 214

    Ok, I cannot get my Iphone 3g to make calls out right now. The whole bottom row of applications cannot be pushed.
    I have tried resetting the phone, I have taken out the SIM card and replaced it.
    I have no problem answering calls and if the people are in my contact list, i can call them, but I cannot dial numbers 789 or hit the call button. I also cannot access my voicemail, I can hear the first message, but I cannot delete or save the message to move on to the next one.
    I am a realtor and this phone is essential to me. Any ideas?

    Well your best bet is to make sure you are running the current version of the operating system. If you are then I would suggest that you do a reboot of the devise. Hold down the power button and the home button for 10 seconds the turn your iPhone back on. If that doesn't work try a restore in iTunes. Last but not least you might just need to call appple tech. support and send your phone in.

    I can't make call with my iPhone 3gs 16G ios 6.0.1 but can receive call, surf web, send&receive msg. I restored it to its original setting but problem has not been solved. Also, I changed my sim card and used another sim with another service provider but i can't make call yet. I have Viber  on it too.

    I have the same problem as you have. I have my iPhone4 since a year now (more or less). Since like 2 months ago whenever I receive or make a call people can't hear me, but they tell me they hear me hanging up and then no sound from my side. Sometimes they can hear me for a while and then not. ¿did somebody found a solution for this?
    I have updated to iOs 7.0.4, disconnected bluetooth, wifi and internet. Uninstall Whatsapp but none of these seems to solve this problem.

    Switched to BT and the BT Smart Talk App appealed, which I've downloaded onro my iPhone 4.
    Been through registration process with BT for Smart Talk App (after downloading IOS7.0) which went well.
    However I've tried to make several calls and no-one can hear me.
    The phones itself works perfectly in usual phone mode.
    I have, of course, tried to resolve this with BT but got nowhere.
    In fact I was given several possible reasons all of which I think they made up!
    They are now due to call me next week.
    I've heard of several strange solutions (one using a piece of cardboard being one!!) but I'm guessing I'm not the only one facing this challenge.

    Go to settings :privacy:microphone:  then turn on access to microphone ,that should cure your problem
