Activating help! please?

activating my new iphone. been having alot of trouble. my lastest roadblock is where you sync everything. it says...
"Activation alert
No signal detected. signal is required to complete activation"
is this something i just wait out, is it possibly where im at? whats the deal?
please help me, this is my 4th day having the iphone and i still havent got it up and running

Did you download the latest version of iTunes? Make sure you download the latest version of iTunes software onto your PC or Mac. Apple doesn't supply the software in the box, so head to www.apple.com/itunes if you need to fetch a copy or launch your current version of iTunes, and choose Check for Updates.

The Blackberry is designed to be reset by removing the battery whilst the device is powered-on. Leave the battery out for a minute or 2.
See if that resolves the problem.

actually, make sure your firewall isn't blocking the program, that may be the issue.

I purchased a new iPhone in the UK today and activated it through iTunes successfully 4 hours ago but the phone is still not getting any service. On 2 occaisons the phone has displayed an error about no signal being detected even though I am in an area with superb o2 signal.
When waiting for the phone to pick up activation is it normal for it to say no service? Or is my phone faulty?

Make sure the antenna (the black part of the back cover) isn't being shielded.
Try turning on Airplane Mode for a few seconds. If that doesn't restore your signal try rebooting (hold HOME and SLEEP buttons for about 8 seconds until an Apple logo appears (ignoring "slide to turn off"). One of these will most likely fix it. In the unlikely event that neither does do a restore through iTunes.
After that take it to an Apple store for diagnosis.

Is the store that you bought the card from nearby so that you can try going back and asking if they can activate the card properly ? If it's not, or if they can't/won't activate, then you will need to do as the message says and contact iTunes Support (these are user-to-user forums) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then iTunes Cards And Codes (you will probably need to give them images of the front and back of the card, and possibly its receipt)

All iPhones sold in Japan are carrier locked. The Japanese carriers do not offer unlocking.
You can not use that phone on a carrier other than the one it is locked to.
Sell it and buy one you can use.

You can NOT unlock it. Only the carrier it is locked to can legally authorize unlocking it and the Japanese carriers will not do so.
In order to be using it previously with a non Japanese carrier, the phone had to be hacked to illegally unlock it. You can not get help here.
Buy a new phone you can use.

It's a bad idea to post your IMEI number and I've asked the Hosts to remove it.
If the previous owner of the phone has set the Activation Lock in iCloud, only he can unlock it either by giving you the ID and password, or by removing it from his list of devices - details here:

Without his unlocking it for you, you cannot use the phone.

Thank you for the note - I have seen similar replies on other posting errors and I see how that could make sense. The thing is, my iPhone is not jailbroken - it is from an authorized distributor. However, when I told them about the "no service" problem on the sim, they were unable to assist. Then my phone messaged that an itunes restore was required - so I did that, several times, to the error message now noted on my post. I wonder if there is some other way to over-write this message? Thanks very much.

You might be able to re-enable your account via this page : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'
You might then need to log out of your account on your phone by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in so as to 'refresh' the account on it
For your security questions, if you don't have a rescue email address, or you don't have access to the email account, then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699 - you can also try this link to get your account re-enabled if the above doesn't work.
When they've been reset you can then use the steps half-way down this page to update/add a rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312

If the screen is not showing anyting when you press any of the buttons you may want to try these steps.

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.

If it's still asking for the seller's Apple ID and password, then he most likely did not actually remove the iPhone from iCloud. If the problem persists, return the iPhone and get your money back. The seller can figure out the problem and resell the iPhone later.

As you said above, yes, I did find OC4J config issue & EM Config issue and resolved them. But still I couldn't get my DBConsole started.
Yes, I was able to drop DBConsole<sid> service using 'emca' repository drop. But, when I started recreating repository for DBConsole service, I wasn't able to do it. I tried several times but in vain.

Check to make sure cellular data is not disabled in settings. If it's on, try re-setting the phone. If that doesn't fix it, call AT&T.
