Activating New iPhone 5 replacement

I recently had my iPhone 5 replaced via mail.  I received my new replacement in the mail today.  After going through all the setup options it came time to enter my Apple ID.  After signing in initially with my correct Apple ID, I was then prompted to the next screen asking to submit the password of some completely different Apple ID - one that I've never even heard of.  I'm very confused as to whose Apple ID it is.  Any help as to why I'm being asked to continue setting up my phone and being asked a strangers Apple ID?

Well I went to Verizon who had it replaced via FedEx to me.  I'm not really questioning where it came from, but as to why its prompting me to login in multiple Apple ID's.  I think in the prompts it asked for about 3 to 4 different Apple IDs.
That is not normal behaviour, only if you have many other Apple accounts. That's why I ask you to send to back.
But now this turns into another question, why does my phone keep turning off and on?  Is it restoring itself after downloading all the apps?
Do a restore from backup again if no joy restore as new without the backup.
If problem is still there, you have to return it because there's something wrong.

    Keep powering your phone off and back on, it can take up to 2 hours for a normal service provider to finalize the activation process.  When you got your new iPhone (congrats by the way) you should have received a little bubble that appeared that told you when the phone was activated, did you see that?

  • Activating new iPhone & downloading software

    Anyone else having issues activing new iphone because of iTunes software and Apple password? I keep downloading the new software on computer, but phone saying not loaded. And when I try to connect using Apple log-in & password, Apple is telling me I have been locked out and need to do password reset which I have done twice. I am not getting anywhere with this. Any suggestions?

    Gone through 3 'replacements' now. First (original) had an antenna problem, the second one had pixel issues and the present one has awful, truly awful battery drainage! Enough is enough! Getting tired of all this. Has someone ever managed to get a new iphone 4 replacement which is 'new' and not been refurbished? I was told last time after complaining to the apple care CS that the express service they provide doesn't use 'refurbished' iphones and has a seperate stock. But thats obviously not true since the 'express' one has turned out to be a dod as well!
    No chance in **** I am getting another apple product in the future...

I've read the warranty terms and other threads on here regarding it but I wanted to know if someone HAD personally gone through something similiar and escalated the matter to the higher CS at AppleCare. If yes, did you get a different result and what was it? Thing is the last time this happened and I got send my present 'replacement' iphone 4 (one with current battery issues), I fell for the whole 'Express Service' (which apparently doesn't use refurbished iphones). This seems a blatant lie since I find it hard to believe that a new phone would have such serious battery issues. Have I just been really unlucky or is this a common theme with replacements?
    Would be interesting to know the views of anyone who received a 'refurbished' replacement and is still going strong. Or anyone who has actually managed to speak to the higherups at AppleCare? (people who would think twice before lying to your face since the CS I've spoken to say anything to end the call).

    If you are trying to restore to an iCloud backup, this has to be done during the initial setup process.  If your phone is already set up, you will have to go back to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content & Settings, then go back through the setup screens again and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup (see image below).  Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to complete.
    Also, your replacement phone must be running the same iOS version or higher to restore to your backup.  If you are running an older version of iOS than the device that was backed up, your backup will not be visible when you choose to restore to your iCloud backup.  If this is the case, you'll have to update your replacement phone first.

    Is there anything I can do now to get my contacts, apps, photos etc? When I plug in my 4s it does not give me the option to restore from a previous backup.

    Select Restore under the Summary tab and when prompted, select from the backup for your old iPhone.
    Having the iPhone activated in the store should not have prevented being prompted to set the iPhone up as a new iPhone or from the backup of a previous iPhone the first time the new iPhone was connected to your computer.

Now all of my text messages from after that are missing. I need a lot of the missing texts. Even though my 4s does not have any service all of the texts are still on it...     Make sure you phone is signed into the same Apple ID in Settings>Store>Apple ID that the iTunes store is signed into in iTunes on your computer.  If it isn't, tap the ID shown, sign out, then sign back in with the correct ID.

    I beleive that 3g and visual voicemail will not work either with t-mobile.

    No one expects any issues with a brand new device regardless how much one pays for it. This is why there is a one year warranty - sometimes a problem is missed with quality control checks at the factory, and hardware can fail at any time.
    Mercedes and BMW are expensive automobiles but when I drive by a Mercedes or BMW dealership, I see their repair shop full of vehicles and all are not out of warranty.

    After a series of complaints and refurbished replacements of my iphone 4 for its home button issue, apple agreed upon giving me an iphone 5 - box packed and brand new. I was super excited that apple finally took responsibility and just then i had 2 bad experiences with my iphone 5 in less than 48 hours of use!
    1st - the music volume on the ear pods is extremely low even on full volume. Have checked the volume limit, have verified there is no EU limit, have restored the phone as new!
    2nd - the battery life *****! Like i said i have restored the phone a new. There have already been 3 updates to ios 6 and its high time this got solved. In less than 2 days i have charged my phone 3 times. I have listened to music on it for less than an hour so far, about 2 hours of calls on 3g, there is no LTE over here, and finally about 3 hours of facebook and whats app in past two days. Offcourse about 5  or so pictures i took to test the camera.
    Today i unplugged the phone at about 8 am. Its 3:25 and the battery is dead!!!
    Can u believe it, they shipped this unit from singapore and i waited for it for nearly 20 days. And in less than 2 days i hate it!
    I am gonna re calibrate the battery this time and come back here and post what happens.
    Till then, can someone tell me how can i make this thing sound the way it should. Cause right now the volume is just low.

    I have checked it on the bundles earpods, the ones i purchased separately and the iphone 4 bundles earphone.

    Upadte: Recalibration did not solve the problem. Today I turned off iCloud sync for photos and Safari. I am at 75% with about two hours of use and six hours of standby. Dramatic improvement!
    But I just saw the Battery Drain by two percent while using siri dictation to type this reply!

    Trying to activate new 5c purchased yesterday. I was initially recieving Error Message = Cannot load  SyncUICoreLocalized.dll I reinstalled itunes per Apple suppport advice,and follwed thee step accordingly. Now the synsc completes when I plug in iPhone but after going through all 6 steps my phone goes back to "connect to itunes" I have restared itunes and tried several times but phone will not activate. Any ideas?

    Did you try to activate the phone by using iCloud (and not connect to iTunes)? You do not need to connect to iTunes to activate the phone. You can then go back after activation and connect to itunes to sync. When you do, do you still get the error?
