Activating phone requiring Data plan, without the data plan?

Anyone know of a store activating a phone requiring a data plan without purchasing the data plan? If so, which store? This is where I will purchase the phone I want if I stay with Verizon.
Thanks.

what is the issue - why won't Verizon allow an iphone or any other smart phone to be activiated without a dataplan?
What is the purpose other than money?  Is there a legit reason?
I have an old 3g Iphone I would like to activate for my child and allow him to use data on wifi only, but.....
Their network and their right to charge what they want and what policies they want.  If people don't like the terms it's best to look elsewhere.  Currently there is no carrier in the world that doesn't require a data plan for a smartphone.  T-Mobile US is one that only if you bought the device outright you don't need one, BUT it's dependent on the plan you get.
Also the iPhone 3G will not work on Verizon.  Difference in technology...

  • What phones can you still get the $15/month for limited data plan?

I am aware Verizon has switched over to the "Share Everything" plan. I think it's obsurd to charge $50 a month for only 1GB of data to share with the whole family. Anybody who pays for that, must be insane. But, that's not what I'm asking about.              I have talked to my local Verizon store and they said I can keep my plan if I just want to upgrade my phone. There are 3 other phones on my plan, by the way. I have a basic Samsung Rogue that has unlimited texting and a shared amount of minutes for phone calls. I asked about changing my phone to a smart phone and they said I could have the $45/month plan, or whatever it was, for unlimited everything. That was just a little bit more than what I was willing to spend. I considered switching carriers and decided against it, as Verizon seems to have the best coverage. Then, it occured to me that they used to offer a limited data plan that my sister had before she got unlimited. I thought it was about $15 on top of what I already pay, but I'm not for sure. So, since I am still on my old plan, would it be possible to add the limited data package to my plan?? Also, if that is possible, what phones have an option to have a data plan? Can it just be any smart phone? I would prefer a touch screen phone.
All answers are appreciated. Thank you!!

Yes it is true. when you add a line you are required to change to the share everything plan.
<Moderator comment. This information is incorrect. Current customer are not required to switch to the Share Everything Plan if the customer deals with a corporate store or VZW directly through Customer Service.<

  • Which phones require which data plan?

Hello!  I'm planning to upgrade my phone and am looking at possibly getting a phone that requires a data plan.  How do you tell which phones allow you to get the $10 data plan?  The only thing I've found says a data plan is required but it doesn't say which one.
    Thanks!

Thanks for the information vereyezuhn. This is correct, Smartphones and PDA devices require the $29.99 or higher data plan. Feature phones can have either the $10.00 data plan or the $29.99 (unlimited) data plan added for data usage. The $10.00 plan provides you with 75 megabytes of data per month.
    To review just Feature phones:
    1) Click on Phones & Devices
--You will have three choices; Iphone, Smartphones, and Feature phones.
    2) Click Feature Phones and this will show all of the phones that can have the $10.00 data package.

  • HT1766 Is there way of accessing your back up data without the use of an i-phone?

Is there a way of accessing your back up data from the computor without the use of an i-phone?

If it wasnt activated prior icloud wont help now. Did you ever use the save and print option to "send it itunes"?  I did that all the time prior to icloud to back up my docs. Then you can "copy from itunes" in the new document dialog.
I still recommend doing the export to iTunes to create a local back up copy on ocassion.
For future reference, To activate icloud for documents, go into the main settings app, tap icloud, then documents and data, and turn it on. Then go to the app (maybe numbers) further down the main settings list, tap it and turn on "use icloud".

  • Phones w/o a required data plan?

What phone has the most tools, but doesn't require a data plan?  Is there a phone that can be synced with Outlook to update calendar w/o a data plan?

    Hello robbiev!
Having a smartphone is a great way to stay organized. The devices that perform the tasks you have described do require data plans. Our basic devices do not have the option to sync with Outlook. I find my data plan very handy! Do you have a specific objection to using one? I will include a link with the prices for them. Having one brings you the convenience of being connected at all times to email, social networking, and web access.

  • I bought a iPhone 4 from USA in $749. As I did not take a data plan, still the phone is locked, now when apple is selling unlocked phone and I have paid the dull amount, will they unlock my phone

I bought a iPhone 4 from USA in $749. i did not take a data plan, still the phone is locked, now when apple is selling unlocked phone and I have paid the full  amount, will they unlock my phone

AT&T has not as of yet announced any plans to unlock an iPhone that was purchased as locked to them. Whether or not they will do so in the future, only AT&T would know, and they probably will not say unless and until they're ready to make an official announcement.  There is nothing Apple can do for you in this matter unless you are still within the timeframe for returning the iPhone.

  • I-phone 5 - can you reduce the megapixel size of pictures without incurring data charges?  I understand if I e-mail my pictures to myself, there is an option to define the pixel size of the pict. What if I upload from phone to computer via cable?

What if I upload photos from my phone to my computer via cable? I don't believe this inccurs data charges, but I cannot find an option to reduce the megapixel size of the pictures.

Apple is not a carrier or service provider.
Contact the carrier that you intend to use and ask them about their service offerings.

  • R there any 3g phones  or smartphones to use the $10 data packg

I have two upgrades but cant seem to find a phone ...I currently have the samsung rogue...I cant find a new phone that seems equivalant to  it except for smartphones and i never use all my 75mb data  ..are there some retired 3g or smartphones that can be activated with the small data pack....the basic phones available dont look as good as my rogue....is there a listsomewhere?

Which features in particular are the most important ? And does it need to be a touchscreen non-smartphone or can it be a non-smartphone with a physical qwerty keyboard ?
Because of its AMOLED screen in particular, I'd consider the Rogue to be THE top of the line touchscreen non-smartphone. The only other one with a comparable quality screen is the LG enV Touch, but in my opinion SO many of the customer reviews are so poor that I think a person is taking too huge of a risk in buying one.
The other touchscreen non-smartphones that are RELIABLE and just about as good as the Rogue as far as the rest of the features of the Rogue:
the LG Dare, the LG Versa [which is a touchscreen but has a separate add-on keyboard], the LG Voyager, the Samsung Reality, and the Samsung u370 which is a re-release of the Samsung Reality but without the data-plan requirement
In my opinion, those are the only reliable touchscreen non-smartphones worth considering that I can think of. Sadly, the Samsung Rogue is most probably the last high end top of the line touchscreen non-smartphone that Verizon will allow to be released. phonearena.com has two articles saying that there is supposed to be a successor to the u370 coming out soon called the Samsung Brightside or the Samsung u380. Unfortunately there's been no further word about its release. There's a relatively new basic-feature touchscreen non-smartphone the LG Extravert; now that there's a software update out, the customer reviews at verzion's website make it sound like a reliable phone.
In my opinion, the rest of the touchscreen non-smartphones have way too much probability of being unreliable and buggy:
    Microsoft Kin one and two
    LG Cosmos Touch
    LG Chocolate Touch
    LG enV Touch
    Motorola Krave
any touchscreen non-smartphone released by Pantech
    Samsung Glyde
If you've been pleased with the Rogue and have found it to be reliable enough, maybe you ought to stick with that model and buy another Rogue on ebay
To research any of the discontinued phones, check out cnet.com , phonescoop.com , and phonearena.com
As far as reliable qwerty non-smartphones:
Samsung Alias 2 / Zeal [re-release of Alias 2 but no data plan requirement]
LG env3 and maybe the Octane
The env3 has the potential to have a problem of the battery being loose enough to cause reboots; solution is to place an index card between battery and battery door
Octane: when the phone is flipped closed, the speaker for the ringer is in the inside of the flipped phone which has made the ringer hard to next to impossible for some people to hear

  • Can I retrieve data from my iPhone 4 hard drive without the SIM card?

Can I retreive data from my iPhone 4 hard drive without the sim?

There is no hard drive in an iPhone, it is all solid state memory. If the phone is working you can always copy content from it. If it is not you will need to restore and activate it, and that requires a SIM card.

  • Transferring Data on phone to computer - need to be active phone?

Will the data on a phone (basic - no data plan) be transferable if it is no longer the active phone on the plan?
I have lost my phone and need to have a phone but there are some pictures and data I would like to transfer to my computer, does my phone need to be active in order to do that? It has an Sim card slot so that could be possibly used, but I don't know how the data works. I would also like to transfer texts is there any way to do that?

I have lost my phone and need to have a phone but there are some pictures and data I would like to transfer to my computer, does my phone need to be active in order to do that? You can transfer pictures to an SD card if the phone has a slot, and from the SD card to your computer with the phone deactivated, however it does have to be in your possession.  If it is lost, as you state, then you have no access to the pictures or the card to accomplish the transfer.  It has an Sim card slot so that could be possibly used, but I don't know how the data works.
I would also like to transfer texts is there any way to do that? Again, depending on the phone, some have the capability to transfer the text messages to the SD card, some do not.  And if the phone is lost, and not in your possession, you can't do any transferring.

  • Compatible with your plan/Data pak required/Requires data pkg $9.99 or higher

    1) When I go to "Upgrade your phone"/"Select a phone or device" I see 59 results.
When I click "Compatible with your current plan" the number goes to down to 52 results.
However, 23 of them say "Data pak required" and another 3 say "Requires data pkg $9.99 or higher".
Those phrases seem to imply that those phones are not compatible with my plan and
would require changing my plan.  If so, why do they not disappear when I click "Compatible with your current plan"?
    2) Suppose I get one of the phones that say "Data pak required" or "Requires data pkg $9.99 or higher"
and indeed I have to change my plan.
Would I be obligated to the different plan for the full two years or could I just switch back to my old plan
at some point and just not be able to access some features of the phone?
I tried asking my question to Verizon Wireless directly but all I got was some ambiguous doublespeak
wrapped in some polite niceties instead of a coherent answer.
    Thanks for any help.

    1. Compatible with your current plan is referring to your minutes and Nationwide talk & text plan... The data plan is seperate.
    2. It depends on if you get a smartphone or not. If you get a feature phone that requires a data plan, then no you could not take away the data plan and still use that phone. Same goes for smartphones. You will always have to have a data plan with a phone that requires one no matter how you use it... Now if you got a feature phone that doesn't require a data plan, but you added a data plan, you could take that away at any time and revert back to the pay-per-usage plan.

  • MRP setting for Purchase (Planned Order ) Requirement date

    Dear Sir,
During the MRP run , we desire that the genertaed Planned Orders for the Purchase related items , should have requirement date as either the current date or the current date plus procurement lead time defined in the Material Master against the item .
To achive the abobe requirement , we request you to pl guide us as what setting / parameters are required to be set in the MRP setup .  Or if there is some other alternate approach , pl suggest the same .
    With Thanks and Rgds
    Sonia Agarwal

    Dear
Generally , during MRP run , system will genarted Planned order for Purcahsed item if it is opening period .
The opening period for the planned order represents the number of workdays that are subtracted from the order start date in order to determine the order opening date. This period serves as a time float, which is available for the MRP controller when converting a planned order into a purchase requisition.
You define the opening period for the planned order in Customizing for MRP in the IMG activity Define floats (scheduling margin key) and assign it to the material in the Scheduling margin key field (MRP 2 view) in the material master
Now if you want to have Planned order for purchased item with requirement date as current date , then maintain Demand date like Sales Order requirement date as curent date in VA01 or PIR date as current date.
Where as MRP will consider the Planned Order based on planned opening date , lead time , GR processing time from MRP2 view .So for current date requirement , u should keep Lead time and GR processing time as 0.
    Regards
    JH

  • Activated iPhone 6 yesterday, keep getting the message, "You are not subscribed to a cellular data service."

I activated my phone through AT&T using the new SIM card and am on contract that includes 10GB of data. Data IS enabled on the phone and it says I have 4G. It doesn't say I have LTE, and any time I try to use the internet without WiFi, I get this message. In addition, I can't send iMessages unless I'm on WiFi, but they send through my e-mail rather than my phone number. I've reset the network settings, done factory restores and restarted the phone plenty of times, but still nothing. AT&T told me to wait til morning as activation is slow at times, but that proved to be worthless as well. I also never updated to 8.0.1 because Apple took it down before I started my phone up. Does anyone have any idea why I'm having this issue? Could my SIM card be faulty?

    Have you called your provider?
If not, it's probably a good idea.

  • Keep my Curve 8330 without the data?

I've had the Curve 8330 for two years.  I just upgraded my teenager from a basic phone to a smartphone and "gave" him my data plan because I just didn't use it enough.
The problem is this.  I really like the Curve for texting and talking.  Is there any way I can keep it and just use it that way without the data plan?  I have fulfilled my contract.  Why should I have to give up the phone if I want to keep it just without the data plan?
Is it possible to keep my old phone?  I don't really like his.

If you activate a smartphone, you must have a data plan on that line.  There is simply no way around it unless the smartphone was made before November 2008.
