Activating Process chain with Yellow message about index recreation

Hi SDN Community
As part of a Process Chain which loads data into an infocube,
If an index recreation is not included in the process chain, we get the following warning message:
A type "Generate Index" process has to follow process "Execute InfoPackage" var.ZPAK_4CFH2W389QSOOUU1UVP8PBLFU in the chain
As we do not want to have the index recreation in this particular chain, and rather, another chain,
will there be any issue of having this process chain in this warning message mode without an index recreation.

Index recreation is not mandated because you have the option to either create it or not. Recreating/rebuilding your index improves read time and so it is recommended. If you are creating the index at a subsequent step you can confidently ignore the warning message.

Have you done any changes to local chain? or is this is new chain?
Try to remove meta chain from schedule, later activate your local chain and meta chain.

Process chain with ABAP reports included

Hello !
I need help regardin an issue.
I have a process chain with the processes:
1) Start
2) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a wait instruction
3) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a system message , based on a first variant of the report
4) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a wait instruction
5) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a system message , based on a second variant of the report
6) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a wait instruction
7) Process type ABAP program -> report that has a system message , based on a third variant of the report
report that has a system message : has 3 variants
The reports work each individual, but in the chain , when I execute, I must see some system messages and there is nothing
I assigned for the processes the right reports, including the variants for the processes 3, 5, 7.
Do you have some clue? I can't imagine why they don't work in this process chain.

In RSPC transaction -
create your process chain
To include ABAP program --- expand General Services --- Select ABAP program -
drag and drop it in right panel
Create process variant -
provide program name and program variant(if exists)

Process chain with attributes

Hi Experts,
i built a process chain with 4 Masterdata.
I beginn with start and for each master data, i set up an infopackage and at the end , i created an Attribute with the 4 Masterdata als Infojects.
1. When i save, the order changed.
All the masterdata could not be upload.
How can i built a better process chain with Attibutes?

Copy process Chain with Meta chain

Hi experts,
how to copy the process chain with Meta chain, since the process chain which I planing to copy it hold meta chain and also local chain, I coping for change the technical name for the PC, is it possible to copy meta chain and local chain along with PC?
and plz breif me about meta chain and local chain why we have to use them and where we have to use them?
plz explain with scenario.

Hi,
Once after the copy of the chains you need to change the start variant with the new one as the same start process can not be used in two process chains at the same time.
So Once after changing the start process for your MC and LC then you are good to go ahead to trigger the same.
If you trigger the MC then it will take care of trigerring the LC automatically.
In terms of changes in the process chain, you can get the last changed details in the log view but you can track the timestamp of changes from the process chain tables like (RSPC* and then press F4). But you can not track which process has been changed in this.

Process chains - turn off Popup about statuschange

Since we have a new hardware for our BW-system we have problems with process chains.
We have a main process chain with few metachains. Most of the links about chains are 'ever'. The Problem is, when one process is RED turn up a popup: Statuschange about Request ... Do you want the process chain run to be continued?
The Process runs over night and should automatically running for this reason the processes are linked 'ever'. There are no Events about Datchange in this process chains.
Can me somebody help, please? I don't know where is the problem.

Transportation of process chains with ABAP variants

Hi,
Could you please help me in finding out how to transport process chains with ABAP variants.
I can transport them, however when transporting them, I overwrite the already existing variants, which is very unfortunate...
Could you please advice.

Option 1:
You can directly create the process chain in Production. Most of the times ppl do have access to create a process chain in Prod. Kindly check whether you have the authorization to do so.
Option 2:-
I did not suggest to delete the old info-packages in QA and Prod. Let them continue to exist but you may not use them once the process chain is in place. You create the process chain, test it and move it up to Prod. I dont' think the new infopackages will hamper your delta load. The delta is not dependent on the infopackage.
If I were you, I would try the second option and if it does not work during testing then go for the first option.

Using Planning Sequence in a Process Chain With input variants

Hi,
I have a COPY planning function which has multiple FROM and TO options like (From:Fiscal Year To Fiscal Year, From Version TO Version). In the layout they select the options for which they want to COPY and execute the function.
How can I replicate the same approach in a process chain with the varaints, how can i create the FROM and TO variables in the process chain.

Hi.
You can save variable variant for planning sequence in modeler and then use it in process chain.
In process chain you choose "Execute planning sequence" and add planning sequence with variant.
All this if you using IP instead BPS.

Trigger a program in ECC from BI using a process chain with out Program

How can we trigger a program which is in ECC system from BI using a process chain with out writing any program.
is it possible? if yes how can we achieve this.

Madhu,
Not possible, indeed need event or Remote Function Call using an ABAP program.
Other option would be to use a 3rd party tool like Control-M to run programs/jobs on whatever system in your landscape (but requires investments of course).

Pointers for optimizing system performance (run time) while running DP process chain with parallel processing

Hi Experts,
We are running APO DP process chain with parallel processing in our company, we are experiencing some issues regarding run time of process chain, need your help on below points;
- What are the ways we can optimize process chain run time.
- Special points we need to take care of in case of parallel processing profiles used in process chain.
- Any specific sequence to be followed for different processes in process chain - if there is some best practice followed.
- Any notes suggesting ways to improve system performance for APO version 7 with different enhancement packs 1 and 2.

HI Neelesh,
There are many ways to optimize performance of the process chains (background jobs) in APO system.
Firstly I would recommend you to identify the pain areas (steps) which are completing with more runtimes. Then each one of the step has got different approaches to decrease the runtime.
Like you may end up with steps like infopackage executions, DTPs, DP mass processing jobs etc which might be running with more runtimes. So now target each one of them differently and find out the ways to optimize. At the same time the approach you follow should be technically possible with basis perspective (system load and utilization) as well.
And coming to parallel processing, you can use parallel processing for different for different jobs. You can further r explore on the same using parallel processing. Like loading an infocube, mass processing, infopackage execution, DTP, TSCOPY etc.

Geeting the error while activing process chains in Quality.
Error is *'Node Characteristic 0classnum is not entered as hierarchy characteristic for 0material*

This is not advisable to activate a process chain in quality directly. You should do it in development and then transport it across.
This error is realated to hierarchy. Do you have a hierarchy load attached to this chain?
Check the hierarcy first. Then activate the chain.

Error while activating Process Chains

Hi all,
while activating the Process Chains, i am getting the following error "Job BI_PROCESS_PSAPROCESS could not be scheduled. Termination with returncode 8"
when i double click on the error msg, i got the following help msg: "
Message no. RSPC065
Diagnosis
Program RSPROCESS is to be scheduled as job BI_PROCESS_PSAPROCESS under user ALEREMOTE.
Can any one please show some way to solve this problem? please do this favor, i have been suffering with error for a long time.

Hi,
Just analyze the error message that you get while activating the PC, don't give any server name.If you are trying to run process chain using Flat file, it won't work,
and you should have source system R/3 or you have own datasources in BW system itself at that toime you can use PC to extract data. If your source system is Flat ile, it won't work. other wise you should place your flat file in application server, using AL11 tcode.

You cannot schedule or perform any batch jobs with the BW or source system background user.
The error RSPC 065 occurs in the process chains:"Job could not be scheduled, termination with return code 8"
Other terms
RSPC065
Reason and Prerequisites
The user type is
"CPIC" up to 4.6B
"Communication" as of 4.6C
This user type may not execute or start any batch jobs, irrespective of the user authorizations.
Solution
Set the type of background user to
"Background" up to 4.6B
"System" as of 4.6C
This user type corresponds to the "Communication" type and may also perform background functions.
Through the Customizing, the BW user is automatically created by mistake as a communication user.Depending on your BW system release, you can solve this problem as follows:
BW 2.0B
 Import Support Package 24 for 2.0B (BW2.0B patch24 or SAPKW20B24) into your BW system. The Support Package is available once note 456551 with the short text "SAPBWNews BW 2.0B Support Package 24", which describes this Support Package in more detail, has been released for customers.
BW 2.1C
 Import Support Package 16 for 2.1C (BW2.1C patch16 or SAPKW21C16) into your BW system. The Support Package is available once note 456566 with the short text "SAPBWNews BW 2.1C Support Package 16" has been released for customers.
BW 3.0A
 Import Support Package 8 for 3.0A (BW3.0A patch08 or SAPKW30A08) into your BW system. The Support Package is available once note 452632 with the short text "SAPBWNews BW 3.0A Support Package 08" has been released for customers.

Scheduling of process chain with background job

Hello All,
I have scheduled the process chains through background jobs. I have copied the meta chain and created seven background jobs that is from Monday till sunday. The problem is most frequently the job gets cancelled with the message
Process CHAIN, variant PAA1_GS001 is not scheduled waiting for event RSPROCESS 44NRPDWZ7CQUJ92ATDTY6368H.
This is the variant for the next process after the start process. I tried by giving merge active versions, but one day the background job runs fine , but the next day it gets cancelled.
If anyone has faced this issue before kindly let me know.

It seems to be there may be in probelm in Varients, so create a separate Varient for each PC and then activate the PC and execute.

BI Admin Cockpit - Problem in activating Process Chains

Hello,
We're trying to activate the content for BI Admin Cockpit.
While activating the process chains, we get a "red" message as
mentioned below.
"Object '0PAK_5JTN7F5HTP45CGZ04PQTMCNTI' (ISIP) of type 'InfoPackage'
is not available in version 'D'
Message no. RSO252"
OSS message 966131 suggests that "The InfoPackages mentioned are shadow
InfoPackages and the message is unnecessary because there should not
have been a search for the package at all." and we should apply the
correction (as part of SPS10) for this purpose.
We are currently on SP11 but still having the same issue and hence not
able to activate the process chains for BI Admin Cockpit.

Hi Ashish,
We had the same issue. You must have one of following:-
BI_CONT 702, Support pack 7
or
BI_CONT 703, Support Pack 4
Once you get either of above, you will not have that problem. But you might have some problem in process chains because of roll up of aggregate in delta PC. Just ignore that and you will be OK...( This problem is because there is no agg. defined and PC is trying to do roll up..which make no sense and hence there is error)
