Activating sounds in Forte

Anybody know how to play a sound event in Forte? I'm thinking that this
is operating system specific. And for those of you that hate sounds, it's
only because the user is barcoding plates and doesn't look up to see if
there's a problem. I need to notify with a sound event that something is
wrong. Seems like it shouldn't be too hard, Office 97 stores sound events
in some sort of sound registry and then plays them back. You know what I
mean, there's the "Jungle" scheme, the "Musica" scheme, etc.

Any ideas?

Martin,
We also used the 'beep' method. This was not loud enough in our
environment so we just put a loop around the beep (I think like 1 to 50).
50 beeps come out as one louder beep.
It is adequately annoying now.

Hi Martin,
I looked in the manuals and found a "beep" method that can give you adefault
beep sound. You can look in the Display manual (version 2 ) pages 545and 550
for more details.
Not sure if this is what you want but may be sufficient.

  • Adjusting the SIM card activation sound - BlackBerry Bold 9900

    Hi there,
when activating a SIM card on a BlackBerry Bold 9900 on the newest available build of BlackBerry OS 7, for example if two or more SIM cards of the same provider are used with different devices, using the code *100#, a system sound reminiscent of the characteristic BIOS sound on a computer will be played, however this sound is too loud and there does not seem to be an obvious way to adjust the sound or at least its volume.
Is there any way to adjust this?
    Thank you,

  • Motion Activated Sound Effects?

Does anyone know of cheap software that would allow one to use the built in webcam to play an audio file upon motion detection?
    Thanks.

    Welcome to Discussions, Jlentzsch
As I understand your question, I do not know of any software that does exactly what you want.
However, if you know how to use AppleScript or Automator, you may be able to chain or modify some of the concepts returned by this Google Search about iSight motion detection.
If scripts or Automator workflows are more complicated than than you want to attempt, I suggest you try contacting the people involved with the link you find most closely related to what you want to do. They may have other products that will work for you. If not, you can ask them if they would consider creating the software you need or whether they can suggest a better approach for your problem.

Our first step is to open a session on Active Directory from Forte and that was successful.

We plan to install CRM 2007 ABAP+Java stack (dual stack).
I can tell you from my experience: avoid dual stack installations wherever possible because
    - having to manage memory and resources for two engines running at the same time can be cumbersome
    - you create a total dependency between ABAP + Java - means, if you e.g . run a portal and need to update the Java stack to a higher SP you have to also install the related ABAP SPs
    - if you do release upgrades you have to run two upgrade processes in parallel since they will "wait for each other", you can´t upgrade separately
    - depending on what database you use you must R3load to do system copies (no backup/restore)

  • Sound is not working correctly

I sound works after using the answers posted in these forums but I have a few additional questions.  When I type dmesg it lists:
    Intel 810 + AC97 Audio, version 0.21, 00:03:43 Feb  1 2003
PCI: Found IRQ 11 for device 00:02.7
    i810: SiS 7012 found at IO 0xd800 and 0xdc00, IRQ 11
i810_audio: Audio Controller supports 2 channels.
    ac97_codec: AC97 Audio codec, id: ALC38(Unknown)
    i810_audio: only 48Khz playback available.
    i810_audio: AC'97 codec 0 supports AMAP, total channels = 2
This doesn't seem very good.. XMMS works perfectly but sound things I've tried have returned errors saying that 44khz playback is not availble.  Do I need to do something more to get the full use of my sound card?
Would configuring Esound and/or ALSA help?  Can't seem to even find out what the difference is..

Well, as the official documatation states, the Archlinux is for more or less advanced users, and if you're not one, we will make you one
First of all, if you compiled your sound as modules, try putting this in your rc.local:
    stat_busy "Activating Sound"
    /sbin/modprobe your_sound_module
    /sbin/modprobe other_sound_module
    /sbin/modprobe yet_other_sound_module
    stat_done
Change your_sound_module stuff to your module names as you configured in the kernel, of course.
Second: in order to have two or more sound apps working at the same time, you need some kind of sound server. For default one (esd), uncomment esd in /etc/rc.local (remove ! before it) . After that, you'll have to configure your sound apps to use esd. I know that this is extremely easy with xmms and xine, dunno about others. I do not use esd, because my favorite games (quake3 and half-life) require direct access to /dev/dsp.
And remember: nobody blames for asking 8)

  • Notification sounds not correct

I thought I posted this earlier this week, but it's nowhere to be found, so here it goes again. I have an iPhone 5 with iOS 7, but this problem started with my iPhone 4S and has continued. All of my notifications play the correct sound, except for Facebook and Twitter. When I receive a Facebook notification, no sound at all plays (except for when I receive a Facebook message). This started after I did an iOS update (not a major one) on my 4S. I have the sound for Twitter notifications set to "Tweet," but it plays the "Tri-Tone" sound instead -- which was also the case on my old iPhone. I have gone in and changed the settings to a bunch of different tones, then back to the ones I want, but to no avail. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hey, were you able to come up with ANY info on this problem?
i have had this problem since i got my iphone5 in february/2013, and its continued onto my new iPhone5S.
The best i could come up with, through research and first-hand experience is that the "Facebook" and "twitter" tone options DO work, but only when it is an OUTGOING action YOU PERFORMED (ie a tweet that YOU posted, or a facebook post that YOU posted)
and since newer iphones have facebook and twitter integration, The facebook and Twitter tones also work for facebook Chat/messages that you receive, and twitter direct/instant messages that you receive.
As for the other types of notifications that you get from facebook and twitter (ie. Wall posts, being tagged in photos, twitter mentions/@replies, or notifications from people you are following{if turned on})
:::these notifications seem to fall into the same  category of MOST notifications from ANY App that you download from the app store.
It seems thats MOST apps do not have a specific notification sound programmed, and ANY notifications that you have selected to receive are carried out with a "default" Apple Notification tone (which appears to be the classic Tri-Tone).
I have arrived at this conclusion because in the Settings->Sounds menu, only Device Functions are listed and thus able to have their Tone Changed.
ALSO; in Settings->Notification Center, You will notice that when you click on the various 'apps' listed:
*****'Stock' Apps (Messages, Phone, Facetime, Reminders, Calender etc.) have sub-options to change the name of the 'Sound' 's Tone (which appears there)
*****while ALL OTHER Downloaded apps only have a sub-option slider/knob to turn the 'Sound' either 'ON' or 'OFF'
Since there is no option to select a 'Tone' then it is safe to assume that the activated 'Sound' is the Device's default tone.
THEREFORE...if there is no options -WITHIN THE APPLICATION ITSELF- to change the Sound or Tone of their Notifications...the question/objective Now seems to be: How can we change our Device's default Notification Sound?

When I fist started winecfg and selected the Audio tab, I got some pulse related error message (something like "err:pulse:pulse_CallbackContext Connection refused", I don't remember exactly). I have pulseaudio installed (as a dependency of chromium) but it's not active, so I turned to ALSA with winetricks sound=alsa.
Now I don't get the pulse error message anymore, but there is still no sound and when I hit the Test Sound button the first time after starting winecfg, I get the error message "err:ole:CoInitializeEx Attempt to change threading model of this apartment from multi-threaded to apartment threaded". I have no idea whether this is directly related to my sound problem.
I tried adding HDMI_TV in the registry key ALSAOutputDevices. Now I have one more device to select from, but still no sound
I am running out of ideas what to try next, so if anybody has a hint, please tell me (y)
If you need more information on my hardware or software, please tell me!
As I am somewhat of a newbie with Arch and WINE, you might also have to tell me where to get that information
    Thanks & best regards

Btw: I installed XBMC and sound output via HDMI works perfectly

Hi, I'm one of Wine's main audio maintainers.
supermariolinux is right that you'll need the 32-bit audio packages. If you're not using PulseAudio, you should only need lib32-alsa-lib. If you are using Pulse, you will also need lib32-alsa-plugins and lib32-libpulse. You can do "pacman -Qi wine" to get a list of optional packages that you may be missing.
You said that you got an error saying, "err:pulse:pulse_CallbackContext Connection refused". This doesn't seem possible if you're using the official Arch Wine package, as Arch doesn't supply the unofficial Pulse audio backend. Are you building Wine yourself? Do you get an errors upon running configure?
    The CoInitializeEx message is harmless.
Finally, you can get a debug log which may give you more information about what's happening. There are more instructions for that here: http://wiki.winehq.org/Sound under "What to include when filing a bug." You may find some useful information near lines containing "AudioClient_Initialize". If you upload a log someplace, I can take a look as well.

  • Sound blaster not working correctly?

Sound blaster not working correctly #I have a 64 bit, windows vista system.
A Logitech Z-5500 Digital speaker system (one woofer, center speaker, left, right, rear right, left rear speakers, and a seperate control head).
I have an X-fi gamer sound card.
I recently formatted my hard dri've and reinstalled everything. Trying to make everything happy again. Here is my problem:
When I use the Creative Console Launcher (CCL), my front right speaker tests fine. My front left speaker comes out of the woofer. And no other speakers will test at all. It does this in all modes (2., 4., 5. and 7.).
When I play some music, it is coming out of all of the speakers. But it won't test properly in the CCL. So, do I have an issue, does what the CCL is doing not matter, or something else In some games, hearing what direction stuff is coming from matters, so if it is sending sounds to the wrong speakers, then I need to figure out a fix.....hence my post.

Okay, my sound now magically works for flash.  I initially had not restarted my pc after installing the above mentioned pulseaudio packages.  I didn't think it necessary, not even sure if it is the restart that fixed it, but problem solved.
Though i did change my .asound.rc from
    pcm.!default {
    type plug
    slave {
    pcm "hw:0,0"
    ctl.!default {
    type hw
    card 0
    to
    pcm.!default {
    type hw

    ctl.!default {

    card 0
Not sure if that did anything

  • Firefox 17.0.1 cache activity on multiple hard disks?

I upgraded OS of my desktop PC from Win 7 to Win 8 (install from scratch).
I also loaded latest version of Firefox 17.0.1
My C system disk is a SSD (therefore no moving parts). I also have a second mechanical hard disk only for data (no software installed on it).
I noticed that; when I scroll up & down in any web page (sometimes just moving mouse over active areas) I hear exactly syncronized activity sound from my mechanical hard disk. So Firefox is inducing some read/write activity on that drive (which normaly it shouldn't have anything to do with it).
I didn't have this with my previous Win 7 - Firefox 16 combination (on exact same PC setup).
I'm only using few extensions (that I've been using on my previous setup as well).
It only happens with Firefox. Scrolling in no other software causes such activity on my secondary mechanical disk.
So I assume that; Firefox is throwing it's cache operation on every single drive it finds available around.
I couldn't find any setting (under Options) to specify location of cache file.
May be it's not the cache file; but it's absolutely caused by Firefox.
I have a virtually silent PC - currently spoiled by Firefox.
Any idea how can I have Firefox run using only the resources of my C (SSD) drive?

Firefox stores all your data — including the cache — under your profile folder, which resides on your system disk.
    * [[Profiles]]
If you want a version of Firefox that stores everything in its installation folder, get Firefox Portable. It's designed to be run off a USB Flash drive, but it can also be installed to a local disk. Just make sure to put it somewhere other than the Program Files folder, because over there, Windows UAC would prevent it from writing and modifying files.
    * http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable
Or if you prefer doing things the hard way, you can relocate most of Firefox's data as described in this thread:
    * [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/944695 How to move any and all disk writes made by firefox to ANOTHER drive?]
As for finding out what Firefox is doing, you can use Process Monitor. Create a filter for Process name: ''firefox.exe'', then open the '''Tools''' menu and choose '''File Summary''' to examine disk activity.

I am using Pulse Audio (and KDE). It's all correctly setup, it has been working for several months and it works if I downgrade kernel to 3.1, so it's a regression with the new kernel. Also, if any mods are reading this, maybe thread should be moved since 3.2 is out of testing.
Edit: It's quite weird. If I go to KDE sound settings and change them around a couple of times, after a while it works like it should. There is no consistency in this and I have no idea how to troubleshoot

  • Global way to turn off sound?

My main stage is playing a series of MIAWs and I want a way
to shut down sound channels 1-7, leaving 8 open for sound effects
used by the stage. It's a touch screen application and the client
wants the option to turn off the music but retain the audible
clicks and other sound effects for user interaction.
    I've tried setting sound(myChannel).volume = 0 where
myChannel is looped 1-7. I've tried this both in the main stage
just before the MIAW is opened and also in the first frame of the
MIAW itself. I manage to shut down any lingo activated sound but
sound effects dropped into the two score sound channels still play.
I didn't write the MIAW's, I don't want to put conditional tests in
those movies every time a sound is played. Is there a global way to
shut down a specific sound channel that can not be overridden by
    the score?

I'll take a couple of stabs at it.
If you're using the sound channels in the score, you may need
    to have an
empty frame between the sound sprites. Sort of giving
    Director time to
take a breath before starting the next sound. Or you might
    try using Lingo
    to play the sounds instead.
If they're not already, make sure the sounds are all sampled
    at the same
rate and bit depth. This may be needed even if using Lingo to
    play the
    sounds.

  • RAM Preview framerate and sound issues

The same story as usual. A beginner who can't get the framerate right or the sound to play in the RAM Preview. Well then:
    Ae CS6.11.0.0378, I think
    Demo version
    7,9 g ram allocatable
    Win7 proffesional
Only .avi and .mp4, can't tell much more than that
All other common factors can think of vary between the layers, with no difference.
Sound preview set to 10 minutes
    No mute-related settings activated
Sound and volume checked for each individual layer
I don't know what more to submit, there's probably a lot.
It's quite simple. No sound in the RAM preview, and it keeps freezing, not responding when I start it,  and playing at random speeds. The sound does play in sound preview. The framerate is set to auto.
That's about all I can think of. It probably needs a lot more detail required, but not anything I can think of.  Any help appreciated.

You can get the frame rate right by dragging a clip in question onto the Make Comp icon at the bottom of the project window.
If you're fooling around with time -- time stretch, time remapping, posterize time, time displacement -- or using Rotobrush or Warp Stabilizer -- you should know that AE doesn't like mp4's as the source video.  No telling about the avi.
There could also be compressed audio in the video files, and AE has never played nice with compressed audio.

  • 6533 Sound problem

I have just installed a 6533 m/b with SiS651 chipset. Realtek AC'97 Audio and drivers are installed with no conflicts. This has been reinstalled from both CD and web site several times. Multi media indicates that Audio for Realtek AC'97 s installed but under the Audio tab only Wave devices for modem and a game compatable device are installed. The volume button is inactive. The soundmanager icon is installed but I am unable to activate either sound manager or volume control. I have run through the troubleshooter but have been unable to correct the problem. All audio programmes start but do not play sounds. I can play CD's so the speakers are operating and connected correctly. The only error indication I get is when trying to play a .wav file on sound recorder, when it tells me 'Another application is playing audio. etc' I have checked the running programmes and can not detect any other sound programmes running. Can anyone assist?

    Hi Bowser,
Did you install any other apps for sound playback in your windows? Me for example, has several, i.e., WMP 9 Full, Winamp 3, RealPlayer 1, Quicktime 5.5. It may not be IRQs conflicts but it may turns out to be background active sound playback programs fighting for a place to playback your media with your current activited apps.
Another way is to see which is your default player, to do this, click on start button> run> type in "dxdiag" and enter> under sound, do all the neccessary tests and see what version of directX you are on and which is your default app and codecs.
    All the Best... :D!!!
