Activating Technical Content in BI7.0

Hi Experts,
I am trying to activate technical content for BI Statistics and make it work. I have not used RSTCO_ADMIN (we will not need BI Admin Cockpit for now, ST03 would make it at the moment) but went the good old way, activated all the cubes, process chains, etc. from RSA1.
Now everything looks to be more or less OK, except the Process Chains. The problem is that those infopackages in the standard process chains do not exist, and I cannot even find them in the Business Content either. Additionally, 6 of the 7 process chains in transaction RSPC look like "inactive", their names are displayed with grey instead of black. I have to double click on their name and then click on "Display/Change" to make them appear on the right-hand side of the screen.
We are on SAP_BW release 700 SP12, BI_CONT release 703, level 0000. Do you have any idea on why I cannot find those infopackages anywhere in the BI content?
Thanks in advance for any tips,
Csaba

Hi Dhanya,
Thanks for your reply.
When activating the process chain, I have selected all infopackages that were collected automatically by the system (with the option "In the Data Flow Before"). I also tried to find these infopackages myself in the Business Content (in ISIP (Infopackage) object type), still no success.
I also thought I could create these infopackages manually, but I have absolutely no idea on what they are expected to do: loading? From where to where? Activating data? Changing attributes? I don't know.
In RSPC I can see these infopackages as a step in the chain, but only with their technical name which does not help me to find out what is the source and target of that loading.
Cheers,
Csaba

  • Technical content in BI7...

    Hi,
We upgraded to BI7 and now trying to install the Technical content in BI7. I read few forums and im confused.
Right now, we have all 3.x technical content installed, but we are not using them to capture the stats. So we can completely discard them.
I found that we have 2 scenarios in which we can install the Tech content:
    1. T-code - RSTCO_ADMIN: When I first logged in to BI system after upgrade, the status in this T-code was 'Not Activated' (RED).When I tried to do it manually again, it still shows the same status and the error message in the app log is:
InfoObject 0TCTUSERNM: You are not authorized to change authorization relevance
    Message no. R7B295
    Diagnosis
You want to change the authorization relevance for InfoObject 0TCTUSERNM. You do not have the right authorization for making this change.
    Procedure
Contact your system administrator. You can find more information in the documentation for authorization object S_RSEC.
The above message is concerned to -TCTUSERNM and we get different messages for diff objects.
I guess we need to have few roles/auth objects added in to my user id to install the Tech content!
    2. SPRO
What is the difference between the two.
We are in SP17 and does installing using SPRO effects any of the other objects like 0calyear/0calweek!
We are not on portals, so we dont have to install the Admin Cockpit right!
When we use SPRO-->Activate Technical Content in SAP NetWeaver BI, in the Source system assignment do we need to go for just BWMYSELF are even the R3 systems too!
    please suggest.

    Hello Ram,
Both paths lead to the same result; You will be taken to the same screen in both events as it is the same program being called.
As for authorization error try adding SAP_BW_BI_ADMINISTRATOR to your roles.

  • Erro content master data by activating technical content BI

    Hi
i activated technical content BI and load th init then the delta , i have one error ( the other errors are solved by activating datasource) that i don't understand :
    In the process monitor :
Too many error records - update terminated
    Error   4 in the update
In the PSA i can read many messages like this :
There are duplicates of the data record 3 & with the key
    'BW2CLNT100DABAP &' for characteristic 0TCTPRCSVAR &.
    i don't understand it ?  how can i solved it ?
    thanks for your help !!
    Karima

I had a huge amount of duplicate records so I manually applied the fix in NOTE 1134138.
This fixed the dups, but I had 4 records with probably a hidden char so I manually updated it.
However, my process chain 0TCT_MD_C_FULL_P01 is going to continue to fail every week unless I put some other fix in.
    The error message is
    "Error               4 in the update"
Anyone see a fix for this?

  • Activating technical content in BW7.0

    Hi,
We are in the process of upgrading BW 3.5 to NW 2004s. We followed OSS note 965386 to activate technical content. We assigned all the required authorization to the user and followed the following path to activate the content:-
SPRO>SAP NW>Business Intelligence>Setting for BI Content>Business Intelligence>BI Admin Cockpit>Activate technical content in SAP NW BI
When we went to SPRO we did not see the last step i.e. Activate technical content in SAP NW BI.
Any help in this regard? Also, why not we can activate the technical content from RSA1.
    Regards,
    Anil

Its just like installing any other BI content. Just check what are the cubes you would be needing. If you are not sure and want to have latest and greatest, you can stick with the MultiProvider(0BWTC_C10) that is delivered comprising of all the six individual technical content cubes. While installing system would prompt you whether to install the datsources, say yes and provide ur credentials. That would take of activating DS. After installing, replicate the datsources from the source system. You are all set to go.
or alternately run program RSTCC_ACTIVATE_ADMIN_COCKPIT to install all this stuff automatically instead of collecting all the objects in BI content screen.

  • Urgent-Technical content Activation

    Hi all,
    I had a basic question.
I am activating Technical Content in BW.Do we have to activate the datasources in R/3 system and then replicate it in BW.Just like any other datsources?
I was under the assumption that activating the objects related to Technical contetn does not have to deal with R/3 system. As i see the datasources under the Bw system under the source system.
Please correct me if iam wrong? This is an urgent issue, appreciate with any help provided.

    Hi sreenivas,
that was a very helpful answer. Now i can say that my doubt has been clarified "if i have to activate DS in R/3 for Technical Content".
But my other question is when i transport it to QA.I have been getting the following logs.
    Warnings:
Application component TCT of DataSource 0BWTC_C02 does not exist Etc for each DS.
    Errors:
DataSource 0BWTC_C02 does not exist in source system QBWCLNT100 of version A
Mapping between data source 0BWTC_C02 and source system QBWCLNT100 is inconsistent
Field CALDAY will not be delivered from DataSource 0BWTC_C02 in source system QBWCLNT100 Etc
I get a RC 8 on this.I checked the DS 0BWTC_C02 in Dev and it was in active version so saved it and retransported it but the same message.
    please advice.
    thanks in advance

    Hello,
ODI is an ELT product and not a Reporting one.
To work correctly with this tool you need good knowledge about Databases ans SQL.
About the market I can't answer you, I know that a new ODI major release will go out in 2009 and i think that all will depend on, this release is announced as totally different of the last one.
Essbase is one of the technology which is managed by the product, I don't really see the need for planning knowledge...
In ODI you can work with different DB, coding in SQl or directly in OS language, Java or Jython which are the only accepted language (if i'm right).
    Hope to be helpfull,

  • Reactivation or Transportaion ??? for BI Technical Content? Dev-- Prod

    Hi,
I had activated Technical content in Develop system and there by All Queries,DataTargets and Process chains were activated in the system!
Now what shud i do to have the same in production???
shud i do the same steps in production or Transport every object to production??
    Raj

    Hi,
Since you have activted everything in Develop system, the next step will be to check if they meet your requirements or you need to enhance or customize them.
Once done you need to transport them to Quality and test them.
After the testing is over you can transport them to Production.
You dont directly activate them in Production.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Statistics technical content activation issue with MD process chain in BI7

    Hi,
Let me give you history of the issue first.
I had to activate the Statistics in BI7. I followed the SAP Note 965386 and activated the Technical Content.
Faced activation issues in MD process chain, Content Master Data-0TCT_MD_C_FULL_P01. It dint get activated, Followed the SAP note 1065919, which asked me to remove the below process from RSPC and activate it.
Load data- Process Variant Attribute and
    Load data- Process Variant Text.
I did the same and it got activated after removing them.
Issue is. Later knew that manually activating the Process chain from Content would have activated those Infopackages aswell.
Now how should I get those processes into the chain and activate? Based on your suggestions, I can let you know what all I have been trying to fix it?
    Relying on you for solution.
    Thanks
    Pavan

    Thank You Neethika,
I have this issue solved. I replicated the data sources, activated those infoPackages manually and then added those variants into the process chain manually. So my MD chain now has all the necessary process.
Now i need to schedule them and see if it runs with out any errors. I will keep this thread open till i run it to take your help if i get any errors while running them.
    Thanks

  • Technical Content Activation Failed in BI7

    Dear experts,
Basically, I have posted this question in another category but the response is very disappointing. So I though of moving the question to here.
I am using SAPKW70015 i.e. Release 15. I tried to activate Technical Content via SPRO's Activate Technical Content in SAP NetWeaver BI.
However, I am facing with these problems:
    1. If I choose only Activate SAPI DataSources, I will get a time out.
    2. If I choose only Activate Technical Content, I will get the following error message:
    Runtime Errors UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION
    Exception CX_RS_VERSION_NOT_FOUND
    Date and Time 23.07.2008 09:38:27
    Short text
An exception occurred that was not caught.
    What happened?
The exception 'CX_RS_VERSION_NOT_FOUND' was raised, but it was not caught
    anywhere along
    the call hierarchy.
Since exceptions represent error situations and this error was not
adequately responded to, the running ABAP program
    'CL_RSSM_LOADING===============CP' has to be
    terminated.
    What can you do?
Note down which actions and inputs caused the error.
To process the problem further, contact you SAP system
    administrator.
Using Transaction ST22 for ABAP Dump Analysis, you can look
at and manage termination messages, and you can also
keep them for a long time.
    Error analysis
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_RS_VERSION_NOT_FOUND', was not
    caught in
procedure "CHANGE_VARIANT" "(METHOD)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING
    clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
Object could not be found in version
    How to correct the error
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
    keywords:
    "UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION" "CX_RS_VERSION_NOT_FOUND"
    "CL_RSSM_LOADING===============CP" or "CL_RSSM_LOADING===============CM00G"
    "IF_RSPC_TRANSPORT~KEY_CHANGE"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and want to send an error
notification to SAP, include the following information:
    1. The description of the current problem (short dump)
To save the description, choose "System->List->Save->Local File
    (Unconverted)".
    2. Corresponding system log
Display the system log by calling transaction SM21.
Restrict the time interval to 10 minutes before and five minutes
after the short dump. Then choose "System->List->Save->Local File
    (Unconverted)".
    3. If the problem occurs in a problem of your own or a modified SAP
program: The source code of the program
    In the editor, choose "Utilities->More
    Utilities->Upload/Download->Download".
    4. Details about the conditions under which the error occurred or which
actions and input led to the error.
The exception must either be prevented, caught within proedure
"CHANGE_VARIANT" "(METHOD)", or its possible occurrence must be declared in the
    RAISING clause of the procedure.
To prevent the exception, note the following:
Can someone help to me solve both problems???Thanks!!

    Hi,
Aks your Basis person to look into the dump in tcode ST22. Also you can check in the SAP notes for error message displayed in the dump. There you find the correction notes.
Mostly this problem is related to Service packs.
    Regards,
    Sreenivas.

  • Question Related to Source System of BI7 Technical Content

    Hi Experts,
I activated BI7 Technical contents using SPRO Transaction.
    Activation is successfull.
My question is that I could now find two source systems for
each activated Datasource of Technical Content(One BI self source system and another R3 source system). Is that right?
I thought that BI statistics wil be based on only BI as a
    source system.
    Please help me in this.
    Thanks,
    Senoy
Edited by: senoy laxman on Aug 19, 2008 3:29 PM

This is because, before actiavtion of technical content, those TWO source systems were already assigned (Check Boxes 'ON')...under
RSA1 --> Business Content --> 'EDIT" menu --> Source System Assignment --> see those check boxes 'ON' for BI self source system and R3 source system.
U r right..BI statistics wil be based on only BI as a source system.

  • BI 7.0 Technical Content Activation

We have performed the technical upgrade from 3.5 to 7.0 and are in the process of performing the Post Upgrade steps. We are currently updated to level: SAP_BW 7.00 SP15.
One of the Post Upgrade steps referenced in the "How to ... Checklist: Rapid SAP NetWeaver 7.0 BI Technical Upgrade with BI Accelerator Implementation" SAP document references the the activation of BI Technical Content (even if there are no plans to use it). Our problem occurs when we attempt to activate the required Technical Content objects via IMG (TCode SPRO). When the activation reaches the Process Chain activation a couple of the Process Chains reference objects that are not available at our content patch level.
I have researched and understand the workaround discussed in OSS 1134944. My question is more general. Is the activation of the Technical Content absolutley required - even if we have no plans to make use of it initially? If so, can someone please explain why this is the case.

    Ramesh,
I understand the purpose and usage of Business Content in BI. As I stated in my thread, the Post Upgrade How To Guide implies that the activation of the Technical Content (a component of BI Business Content) is required in 7.0 - even if there are no plans to use it. Since we are having problems with the activation of the Technical Content my question referred only to its objects. We are trying to understand why (if) this component of the Business Content is actually required as the document implies.

  • Activating BI technical content

    HI All,
I have installed BI_CONT 706 on Netweaver 702.I nowwant to activate the technical content.Jjust to check how RSA1 looks like,I ran RSA1 and canceled all the further prompts. The status of the job RS_TCO_ACTIVATION is shown as finished. But I guess the job did not run at all as duration of the job in SM37 is 0 sec and the status in RSTCO_ADMIN is activating.I  ran RSA1 again. But now the promts for activation of the job and other prompts are not coming up.What can I do now to activate the BI content.
1.Can I re-run the job RS_TCO_ACTIVATION manully like copying the origial job?
2.Run RSTCO_ADMIN and click on install. Will this option activate the BI content?
    Please guide me.

    Hi Markus,
Thanks for your response.I have found a doc on the following link for the option you have mentioned.
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/c0e5ca3b-95ce-2b10-4d94-864ab29a8b63
As per the page 14 on a bove link,Please confirm the activation of BI_CONT involves the following.
    1.Activate the source system.
    2.Replicate data sources.
    3.Repair missing infopackages
    4.Activate technical content.
    5.Schedule Init Process chains

  • Technical content activation for BI STAT and Admin cockpit

    Hi friends,
I am going to setup the IMG call for BI STAT and Admin cockpit. If i run the technical content activation will i need a precaution for other data loading. If i run them in background does it affects other data loads. did i need to take down time for the whole system?
After the implemntation did i need to load data for all infoproviders in quality system.

    Hello Suresh,
I am not clear on all your questions.
In general, technical content process chains load data similiar to other BI process chains.
if your system is productive for a longer period already ( > 6 months ), there may be a lot of
BI statistics data generated and this will take a longer time to load the technical content cubes during the initial load.
Otherwise, it should not affect system performance.
It is better to schedule them daily to avoid huge data loads.
But these are only guidelines. It depends on your need.
You would need to do separately for quality and production system, if you want the BI stats in those systems. This is similiar to any other Data load and cube and content in BI.
    Thanks,
    Bilal
