Activating x-fi headphone 3D sound in ga

Hi,
i recently purchased a extreme music x-fi and all is working fine so far. The feature I was most excited about was the 3D headphone feature. In the Game console settings the effect is amazing.
But, I installed gothic 3 two days ago and was not able to hear the sound in 3D
Should it suffice to activate the 3D feature in the soundblaster console?
The audio settings in gothic can be set to headphones or 5. surround. Which settings do I have to use ingame, to be able to hear surround sound on my headphones.
Or am I forgetting anything important?

I switched the ingame settings to dolby prologic and now I have surround sound although the effect is not quite as good as in the creative console heli demo.
The question reamins:
What are the preferred ingame settings?
And why doesn't the cmss-3d headphone feature work when I set the ingame sound to "headphones" or "surround" or "5." but only in dolby prologic?

Did you try different headphones!?
If it's sounding the same thing on different headphones then you might have changed the Left-Right balance
Have a look at Settings -> General -> Accessibility
There's a slider for L-R
If it's in the center then the headphone through which you're facing the problem might be damaged, try twisting the headphone wire of the speaker of the headphone (left or right) where you are encountering less volume.
If it's sounding altogether same on all the circumstances, the headphone jack might be damaged. Get your phone to the Apple Store and book an appointment

Digital Out activated when regular headphones plugged in.

Hi, guys.
I've been fiddling with this for a couple days now.
When I plug regular headphones or speakers into my MacBooks jack, the systems goes into Digital Out mode and thus, no sound can be heard from the headphones. If I plug them out, the internal speakers go back on and sound is back to normal.
After a lot of researching, I found a common issue, where the microswitch inside the audio jack would get stuck, and therefore the digital audio would always be active, even without anything plugged in. I don't think this is the same issue, since the system DOES KNOW when the jack is free, since I can easily switch back to internal speakers by plugging out. That's why I don't think the microswitch is stuck in my case.
I've noticed the red light turns on when headphones are plugged in. Somehow, it thinks any plug is a digital audio plug.
At this point, I've tried:
SMC reset
Wiggling a toothpick inside the audio jack
Deleting some audio plist files in my preferences folder
MIDI Audio configuration
Any tip will be preciated. I'm not in the mood to send it to have the motherboard replaced.

Satellite C660 - No sound from headphones but sound from speakers - Win7

I know many people here have the same problem but till now I have not found any solution.
My soundcard is a Realtek. After reinstalling Windows 7 I have no sound out from my headphones while I have some from my speakers.
As soon as I connect the headphones, the Realtek manager appears and I choose headphone but if I press the "Test" button there is no sound and no sound if I play music.
Any des/re-installation of the drivers does not fix.
I have to mention that my headphones work perfectly with Ubuntu. So the jack entry is good.
In "Playback devices" from the sound control icon, the "Speakers" entry has "Set default" in grey.

Go to Control Panel -> Realtek HD audio manager
Here you should see the tab speakers. Click on the yellow folder sign in the right upper corner.
Ensure that the option disable front panel jack detection is NOT checked.
Furthermore check the option at the bottom called Enable auto popup dialog

By the way: in control panel -> sound -> playback tab click right and mark the two options show disabled devices, show hidden devices
Now you should also see the headphones jack. In case it was disabled, you could make it active.

I have an essentially new MacBook Pro with Lion and all updates applied, and am wondering if this is a hardware or software problem. Essentially with something plugged into the headphone jack, things work as they are supposed to for a while, then the sound will switch back to internal speakers, or sometimes 'digital out' (I can watch it change in the system settings), and then often switch back. It doesn't seem to follow any sort of pattern or be related to any specific application that could be open, and happens with different sources of audio (iTunes, streaming from the web), and different external speakers or headphones plugged in.

Sounds hardware related. If it's brand new, and you're still under warranty I would have it checked out.
I have not experienced this on my computer.
As I understand it, you have analog RCA outputs from an 1/8" to left and right RCA outputs. when you're randomly using the computer, it'll switch to internal speakers, then to digital audio, back to your stereo analog external speakers.
This should not be happening and if it's happening with streaming content (I am unaware of anything that streams in 5.1 digital audio) then this must be something that an apple specialist should look at and consider.
Does this happen with the headphone jack out? when you hold your finger over the headphone jack area does a red beam come out of it *blinking* or just on? This will be a good indicator that your audio hardware is faulty. are you running HDMI out?

Headphones=no sound

Because of a worm, I had the hard drive erased. Programs were reinstalled. I now have no sound with the headphones. I can hear a ping when tested, but no sound with music through the headphones. Internal sound seems OK with video with iTunes, Media Player, etc. Adjustments via the sound icon have no effect.

Plugging/Unplugging headphone socket sound balance problems

Hi,
When I plug and unplug a mini jack into the headphone socket (either with a headphone or my desktop speakers) the sound moves over to the right channel. I can bring the balance back in system preferences, but I have to do this every time I unplug. Any solutions?

In-Ear Headphones distorted sound

Hi,
Yesterday, 21 days past my one-year warranty, the right in-ear phone now produces distorted sound when the volume is raised.
I have replaced the mesh cap as recommended, but to no avail.
It only the right speaker and is directly related to higher volume.
Has anyone experienced this?
If so, what was your solution?

IMac headphone jack sound drop

Hi everyone,
My 27 iMac 3.06 GHz is dropping the sound from the headphone jack after a few minutes of playing audio. If I adjust the volume with the keyboard the sound comes back...for a few minutes again. If I use the on-board speakers for sound output the sound never drops.
Is anyone else experiencing sound from the headphone jack dropping on the new 27" iMacs? Any suggestions on what might be causing it?
I plan to take it to the apple store as I am multiple other problems at the moment with the machine, but I figured I would find out if this is an isolated incident or if others are having the same issues (a search of the forums did not reveal similar problems)

I have a whole lab (30) of new imacs and the headphone jacks need a lot to be desired. My headphones all worked on the emacs I had last year; they work on my laptops, but most are crackling and also in some cases causes Type to Learn to actually pause. When I pay $1000 dollars per machine I would think the headphone jack would work. After all how many years now have people been putting headphone jacks in computers? You would think they would have it down perfect by now. But each time I get a new set of macs I have problems: ibooks - the wire to the LCD was being pinched by the hinge - 15 out of 30 now don't work; macbooks- hard drive failures. It is interesting that I have imacs purchased in 2000 that are still functioning as they should - just can't update them past panther in most cases. Will Apple admit this problem with headphone jacks?

Before I can plug my headphones in and the speakers shut down and I hear the sounds through the headphones and now when I plug in the headset speakers still stay on and can hear the sounds on both the speakers and headset. Headphones -- ticking sound

I have a 5.5G 80gb. Occasionally, and not always, while using the headphones, I get a ticking sound at the root menu. When content starts playing, the ticking goes away and the iPod sounds great (much better than my previous 4G 20gb, by the way).
Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi, I just purchased a pair of Kinyo 5. surround headphones and when I connect them to my Sound Blaster Li've! 5. Digital (Dell) soundcard, the center speaker sounds much weaker than the rest. I'm guessing that the black output on the card board is the rear speaker output, the green one the sides, and the yellow one the center/subwoofer or digital out. Enabling the CMSS setting helped a bit, but it still seems quite weak. Either that or the rear and side speakers are too loud. Is there any way with the card I have to adjust the levels of the side, rear, and center speakers?

Try turning on the CMSS features. The sticky at the top of this (Sound Blaster) forum covers the steps on how to enable CMSS or you can check out the Knowledgebase article SID4883 for the steps.
