Activation Issues on MacBook Pro

Hi, first time I have come across this problem, and it truly is baffling.
1) New Macbook Pro - Mid 2014 model - i7 with 2.8Ghz CPU and 16gb RAM
2) Installed CC Desktop app
3) Signed in, and downloads the Photoshop App
4) Installation complete
5) Clicks PS app to open it ... get the Validation Screen whirly wheel ... and message stating subscription to "Creative Cloud now active. Click continue to use your product."
6) Press continue button to continue ...
7) I then get a MEMBERSHIP EXPIRED window popping up and to contact my Administrator to renew etc ....
8) I then press the TRY AGAIN button and it go back to Step 5 and so on ....
I have contacted Adobe tech support and spoke to a lovely gentleman for an hour. Logged into my machine. The develop module in Lightroom was also not working, hence initial issue. He logged OUT of my CC account on my mac remotely, and using his own Adobe login, the apps opened and the Lightroom Develop module was open for use. He verified with accounts department that my account is clear and paid without any issues in the last 2 years of CC membership. He then logged OUT of his account on my machine and put in my own sign in ID ... i put in the password .... and DEVELOP module closed down again ....
I have a windows based machine in the studio, which has no issues with Lightrroom/Photoshop or Bridge at all and is on the same ID.
MacBook is the main machine and this is causing a problem as it still isn't working.
I have even deleted the partition on the MBP drive and formatted the drive, reinstalled the OS X Yosemite and started the process from the beginning, and still the same.
I haven't had time to dedicate to a telephone tech support in the UK for week or so, and its causing problems with workflow as I need PS to be working in order to edit the pages of the Wedding Albums.
HELP HELP HELP !!!!

I just signed up for the Photoshop / Lightroom monthly subscription... and downloaded the Adobe desktop app for both my desktop and laptop Mac machines.  All went smoothly but I also am having issue that it is not recognizing that I have paid for usage.  It asked if I wanted the trial, and as I had work needing to be completed I did accept that as a last resort so I could complete it.  But, now that I have had time to go back and investigate... I have checked my account, re-downloaded everything and still is not working under subscription.  What a waste of a month!  Yeah, it is only $10 but hey... I expected more.
The reason for my monthly purchase was because I had purchased Adobe Element 10 through the APP store several years ago and with clearing and rebuilding my computers it will not let me download the app that I paid for originally be cause now there is a new version... I was perfectly happy with the version I had for my needs which are less than high quality photo processing.  I feel like I am caught in a money grab.

  • Menu Bar issues on Macbook Pro

I came across this problem with my mac where after logging in I noticed that the menu bar, specifically the battery and wifi icon takes atleast 5-10 mins to appear and when I hover the cursor anywhere on the right side of the menu bar it shows the spinning rainbow. Also the volume button seems to be greyed out as well and usually I have to plug in ear phones and it will go away but only temporarily. This never happened to my mac until today and for some reason I think it has to do with the installation of Adobe CS6 Master Collection. (yes, it was torrented. no, I wont do it again.) I did some slight research and on some website it said that there could be some applications recently installed that could have caused this to happen. If anyone has a solution I would very much appreciate it.

Having the same issue. Macbook Pro 2011, latest Mavericks update ....
Apple menu disappears and reappears when Google Chrome is open/closed. Behaving the same with random programs. Do you have any ideas?? Software is up to date, THANKS!!!

  • [SOLVED] Linux kernel 3.6.2-1 issues on Macbook Pro 4,1

After my recent system upgrade to linux-3.6.2-1, I ran into a couple noticeable issues on my laptop.  The first was the inability to use "mount -i /home/user", which is in my .bash_profile, to mount my encrypted home directory at login.  An error message would respond saying that eCryptfs does not support aes.  I was able to manually mount it with "mount -t ecryptfs /home/user/.private /home/user", but could not figure out the issue.  I also noticed my laptop running a hotter that usual and found that my fans were not changing according to the sensors.  I use macfanctld from the AUR to change my fan speed and killing its process and restarting it had no effect.  I then decided my recent system upgrade may be at fault so I rebooted into linux-lts and the issues were solved.  I then downgraded linux-3.6.2-1, linux-headers-3.6.2-1, nvidia-304.51-4, virtualbox-guest-modules- 4.2.0-6, and virtualbox-host-modules-4.2.0-6 to linux-3.5.6-1, linux-headers-3.5.6-1, nvidia-304.51-3, virtualbox-guest-modules-4.2.0-5, and virtualbox-host-modules-4.2.0-5.  These issues are now fixed on my system with the downgrade and I have blocked them from upgrade in pacman.conf.  I did not notice any other issues.

I felt it was necessary to post this issue, especially if another person also has it, so that it may be resolved in future kernel updates.  If there are any logs or other information people need to help resolve this issue or if I should notify a mod of this or something, please let me know.

After further investigation the issues were easily solved.
Regarding my encrypted home directory, I checked kernel.log and found that ecryptfs did not like the argument ecrypt_key_bytes=16 and that manual mount has the variable name ecryptfs_key_bytes=16.  So I simply changed that in my fstab.  Auto-mounting my home directory works nicely again.
In regards to the fan issue, I had to alter /etc/macfanctl.conf because the output of the sensors command (lm-sensors) contained some negative values which may have affected average temperatures and such.  I excluded those temperatures and played with the constraints more until the fans spun faster when I felt they should.
Still found it strange that some of these issues happened during kernel upgrades, but glad to have solved the issues.

Are you saying you're running Windows in BootCamp or Windows as a Virtual Machine? You can increase the fan speed on the Mac using smcFanControl and use the software OGELTHORPE recommended to observe improvements.
smcFanControl is a Mac application and doesn't work in Windows, but if you set a higher minimum fan speed (which is how smcFanControl works) while running OS X, when you reboot into a BootCamp partition, that minimum speed tends to be carried over.

  • 2 issues with MacBook Pro Retina - Fan randomly speeds up and USB3.0 Issues

So I just purchased a brand new MacBook Pro Retina 15" 2.40GHz.
Randomly, when nothing but finder is open, the fans will spin at full speed.
I have opened every application on the machine including serato, ableton, photoshop, VLC playing a 1080P movie, iTunes playing music and youtube playing videos in 2 tabs - and the fans do not spin as fast at it does when nothing is open or running (confirmed with activity monitor too).
Secondly, once I eject a USB3.0 drive from the machine, I have to reboot the system before the drive can be mounted, or even recognized at all by the computer. (it does not even show up in disk utility till the reboot). this happens with 2 seperate USB3.0 external hard drives that work fine on other rMBPs. This happens with both usb ports too.
I have reset SMC, PRAM, ran all Apple updates as well as reinstalled the operating system (as well as booted from a known good system in target disk mode).
    Please help

There are a few threads reporting the fan issues you are dealing with which you might want to look at. I have now experianced it with four brand new 2013 rMBP.

  • My macbook pro runs slow, iTunes videos keep stuttering. Nothing has worked to solve this issue. Macbook Pro 13-inch mid 2012 2.5GHz i5 with 8GB RAM upgrade.

    Hello everyone.
I have been having this issue for a few months now and nothing works to resolve it. The biggest issue is that iTunes videos constantly stutter ever few seconds, the audio portion of the video is not effected. The most I have open at once is Safari, Skype, and iTunes, and possibly Open Office. Videos will even stutter with nothing else open other than iTunes. At times it sounds like the computer is running something in the background from hard drive noise.
I even upgraded the RAM to 8GB and it still has this problem! Nothing looks wrong in Activity Monitor other than occasionally the memory usage spikes up to 6GB, but even then the memory pressure graph is green. I dont understand how these non-intensive programs can use that much. The hard drive is barely 1/3 full.
Please help with a solution as nothing has worked so far. Thanks!

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.

  • Pdf printing issue in macbook pro

    hi everyone,
since i got a macbook pro, i found this problem. it doesn't respond to command-P (printing) at all. i removed and downloaded the newest version of adobe reader, i reset printing system, updated the printer driver,.. i can't print. i use iMac to print pdf. what could i do to fix this? would it be hardware problem or software problem?
    thanks for reading it.

I too have an issue w/ my Macbook Pro keyboard (2nd time since I've owned it) although this one isn't quite as severe as the one reported.
I started noticing over the past couple of weeks that when I type, I start hearing this odd "click" sound every once in a while. As I started to pay more attention to it, it appears that every time I hit the letter 'E', it sounds like the plastic beneath the key is loose or breaking (?). They key itself feels loose and I'm worried that its going to pop off. (this has happened on my Dell Inspiron a few times and its been an annoying issue ever since as it regularly pops off now).
Is this something covered under Applecare? (my previous keyboard issue was a couple of dead keys including the spacebar that required a new keyboard).
Also (side question), when I go to the concierge page to setup a time to visit an Apple Genius, there's GUEST and MEMBER login. Is Member login for those who have Applecare? If so, then what would the member number be? The Applecare agreement # doesn't seem to take.
    Thanks,

  • Issue with MacBook Pro charger?

    Hello,
I bought my MacBook Pro 15" in October 2009. I hardly ever take it out of my place. Senior Apple adviser told me, that the battery in my computer is factory calibrated, so bassically I treat my laptop as iMac. It's connected to the charger all the time. When I'm done using it, I either put it to sleep or shut it down. Two days ago I noticed: (Not Charging) by the icon of the battery. Apparently the charger stopped charging. It's MagSafe charger with T style connector. From what I've been reading in disscussion forum regarding charger issues, it looks like perhaps this charger needs to be replaced.
But the interesting part is, that the green led on the connector holds steady since (Not Charging) appeared two days ago, and also, the battery power dropped only to 94% and holds steady as well.
So this makes me wonder, is there something wrong with the charger, or is it something else?
My computer knowhow is limited, so any information or tip will be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • After several repairs, still having heating issue with MacBook Pro (mid '09)

EDIT: this post got removed the first time for not being constructive enough. I've now edited the post.
This is going to be a lengthy post, so bear with me.
2 months ago, I suddenly noticed my MacBook Pro (medio 2009, 15", 4GB RAM, GeForce 9400M) heating up a lot harder than usual. I'm familiar with the heating issues these laptops have, but this wasn't normal. Looking at iStat Pro, I saw my fans almost taking off like an airplane at 5700 rpm, while watching only a livestream on my browser. I know Shockwave Flash takes up quite a chunk of your CPU, but I had never encountered this problem beforehand.
The biggest problem wasn't just the heat or the fans, but the fact that my computer also started reacting rather slowly. Sometimes I'd even get beachballed, or the whole browser stopped responding for half a minute...
So I tried to see if gaming was still an option. Of course not. I had been playing League of Legends for several months without any issues. Whilst playing, I'd kick up my fans manually to about 4000 rpm, and they'd stay there throughout the whole game. Now, when I start up the game, it plays smoothly for the first 2 minutes. After the temperatures rise to a critical level, the fans start spinning up to 5700 rpm, and the whole game plays like a powerpoint presentation.
On a sidenote: it sort of 'lags' every 1-2 seconds, and sometimes, after a long period, the game acts somewhat normal again (20 mins). This game uses wine to run, which isn't the most optimal way. So I tried playing Team Fortress 2, too. Probably even worse results! (but again noticeable 1-2 second interval lags)
Before anyone starts screaming: "Don't use your Mac for gaming!" etc., I wish to point out that these two games had been running perfectly for the past few months/years. Something's definitely wrong.
After looking for some solutions myself, I decided to go to an authorized Apple Service in my city. A few days later, they told me my logic board was broken, and I had to pay almost 700 euros ($ 900-1000) to replace it. So I did. I got it back, but it wasn't fixed. Brought it back in. Got it back a week later: "Your new logic board we got from Apple was already broken, but we hadn't noticed. We put a new one in it. It's fixed." Again, same problem.
We're almost 2 months later and 700 euros poorer, still no result. I've brought it in about 6-7 times now, here's a list of what they've tried so far:
    - In total 3 new logic boards
    - New MagSafe (because they discovered it was giving too much power too my laptop)
    - Fresh re-install
    - Replaced RAM
    - Checked fans etc. (they do this by default)
    - A few tests which proved that it was repaired (but I have my doubts with these tests...)
They told me now that it's fixed, and they basically won't look into it anymore. I must contact Apple myself, if I wasn't satisfied. The tests they performed showed no signs of heating issues. (One of the tests was playing 4 1080p movies at the same time. When I watch a 1080p movie on Youtube, my laptop is taking off like a plane) They ran a stress test all night long, showing no temperatures above 98°C. I got it up to 105°C in a few minutes according to iStat Pro.
They advised me to install Mountain Lion, which would make the issues with "high-performance sites" go away. I haven't seen much improvement, though.
This whole experience has been quite frustrating, especially now that I'm gonna need my laptop for University again. Isn't there anything I can do? I've paid almost 700 euros and missed my laptop for 2 months, without any results.
I've got more information regarding the issues if needed, ask away. I'm getting desperate.
I've been browsing around the support communites, and found that a lot of people are having issues since they upgraded to OS X Lion. Could this be the case? Should I try downgrading to Snow Leopard?
I've also found a few topics on refreshing the cooling pasta on the heatsink. Would they have noticed any problems with this after replacing the Logic Board several times? Or should I check it myself? I'm not too keen on opening up my laptop myself...
    Nick.

    Thought of buying Parallels? Fusion?
Might want to see if this gets moved to the MacBook Pro forum.
I'd think Windows 8.1 is smart enough (what I use 90% time since the Dev Preview came out couple yrs ago it seems like) to find the driver.

  • Issue with MacBook Pro (mid 2009) wifi multiple AP signal 'confusion'

I'll try to explain this as best I can, not being an expert in networking!
I recently upgraded my router from a Linksys WRT160N to an Airport Extreme, in the hope that it would do a better job of broadcasting a stronger wifi signal throughout my house. Whilst it is improved, it's still no good enough for streaming to my iPad 2 where I want in the house. Reading around on the web I discovered that I should be able to use the Linksys as an AP to extend the effective range of my wifi network, as long as it is hardwired into the base station via Ethernet (no WDS support on the Linksys model).
So, I managed to get this all up and running, disabling the dchp on the Linksys, fixed ip allocation etc and using the same SSID and passwords etc. All is well with the iPhone and iPad2 access - they just automatically switch to the strongest signal no problem when I move around the house. Cool.
The issue lies with the MBP - I have a favoured spot in the house where both the broadcast signal from the AEBS and Linksys are very strong, and the MBP gets all confused. opening up the lid from standby it searches for the wifi (bar moving up and down the signal indicator) and then just has an exclamation mark. I try to manually select the SSID but no dice. I have to switch the MBP adaptor off and on, rescan avail networks, and lo and behold two versions of my SSID are shown. Select one and then it connects. However, I have to go through this whole exercise every time I pull the MBP out of standby, which is very irritating.
I do have a workaround - if I name the SSID on the Linksys something different, the problem goes away. However, i effecktively now have 2 wireless networks & I then have to manually switch between the two SSID's to get the strongest signal depending where I am in the house. It's suffices for now but not ideal.
What I don't get is why is it only the MBP affected & the iPhone & iPad 2 are fine? Is this anything to do with the 2.4 ghz & 5 ghz being broadcast by the AEBS getting all mixed up with just the 2.4 ghz being broadcast from the Linksys??? Both 2.4 & 5 ghz are broadcasting the same SSID.
    Any help appreciated.

OK - fixed this now. By setting the 5 Ghz channel on the AEBS to a different SSID and putting this to the top of my priority WIFI connections on the MacBook Pro then it ignores the conflict between the 2.4 Ghz networks being broadcast by the Linksys & AEBS. No more hanging connection when I resume the MBP

  • Wireless issues with MacBook Pro i5 in Boot Camp Windows 7 x64

I have a 2010 Macbook Pro i5 15''. I'm usually connecting to the 802.11n 5Ghz wireless network of my Time Capsule when running OS X, which works absolutely fine. When running Windows 7 x64 in Boot Camp though, this network can't be found and I have to connect to my secondary 802.11g network of an AirPort Express. Even this network connection usually dies after a few minutes of intensive use though (copying files, playing online games; it's fine with low activity like web surfing). It still appears connected normally, but no data is being transmitted. I have to reset the wireless adapter to get it to work again. The same network works fine for any OS X device.
The Windows drivers for the Broadcom chip in this machine seem really flaky. Anybody else have these problems or maybe a solution?

Yes, sorry, the Boot Camp area would have been a better place to ask. After some more googling I found a helpful thread though, which led me to download this driver package:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?swItem= ob-80585-1&lang=en&cc=us&idx=3&mode=4&
From it I installed the driver called "Broadcom 43225 802.11b/g/n", and presto, I can finally use my 802.11n network under Windows. Hope that's helping other people that may have this problem.

  • Resolution issue with macbook pro 13 (late 2013) and dell u2711

I have a Dell U2711 (native resolution 2560x1440) that I use without issue with a macbook pro late 2007 (running 10.10.x), various iMacs and Macbook air 2011 running 10.10. When I say without issue, the display works at its native resolution.
Last week we got a MacBook Pro 13in, late 2013 model.
If I connect this macbook via either thunderbolt connection to the u2711 using either DVI port on the dell, the maximum resolution that I can use is 1920x1080. I am using apple mini displayport to DVI adaptors (I have tried 2 different ones and 2 different DVI cables, with no improvement). Clicking option + scaled in sys prefs does not give the native resolution as an option.
However, I just discovered that if I use a DVI to HDMI adaptor and I connect the macbook to the display I get the full native resolution without issue (2560x1440).
I have zapped the pram, powered down the display etc etc etc and it made no difference.
I would prefer to use the mini DIsplayPort to DVI adaptor rather than HDMI, any suggestions appreciated.

  • Wireless network Issue on MacBook Pro Duo (original) with Snow Leopard

    Hello all,
I have searched the forums and tried many solutions to no avail. I have the original Macbook Pro 2.16 Core Duo running 10.6.6. Here is the problem:
When I am at home, I have moderate trouble with my wireless. My signal/noise is 78 dPm/94 dPm. However, when I am at school my computer cannot even crawl on the internet unless it is in between classes when the network activity is low.
My school is a small grad school of only about 250 people, and 80% of the people in my class have newer Apples. No other person seems to be experiencing my problem. I can watch the people beside me surfing away on newer MacBooks while my connection times out almost every time.
It seems that everyone's connections drown my connection out. However, nobody else is experiencing my problem. It is if I am the last kid in the lunch line and nothing is left for me.
If there is any more information I need to provide, please do not hesitate to ask. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

"when I am at school my computer cannot even crawl on the internet unless it is in between classes when the network activity is low."
Make sure you are on the correct network if you have not already done so.
Repair permissions and restart your computer. If your computer has been in "sleep" mode for a few days, restart it. You really should restart your computer at least _"once a day"_ to refresh it.
"I have attempted to use the Airport Utility, *however, it detects nothing* and will not let me manually configure anything."
Is the light green on the router you are using? Apple has several Airport routers. Which one do you have?
After doing 1 through 5, did you restart your computer afterwards?

  • I can't be the only one with this issue. MacBook Pro Retina Late-2013 WiFi disconnects after waking up from sleep.

Did anyone buy a MacBook Pro Retina 13" from Best Buy this Black Friday?
I'm having an issue where the WiFi disconnects after the MacBook wakes from sleep but only after a couple of minutes.
Once the WiFi disconnects, I can't reconnect to the same network and sometimes it won't find nearby networks.
I have to turn off the WiFi and wait for at least 5 seconds before turning it back on for it to auto-reconnect to my home network.
If I wait less than 5 seconds, it will continue to attempt connection to the home network but won't connect.
I've tried reformatting and deleting my network configurations as well as resetting my modem, power cycling it, etc.
    I am using 2Wire Gateway modem/router from AT&T on b/g network.
I've tried connecting to a friend's network under Time Warner Cable and the same issue occurs.
I exchanged the MacBook at a Best Buy for a brand unopened one (I hope) and the same exact thing happens with this new one.
Really, I can't be the only one with this issue. Unless in a 0.00001% chance I received two defective units in a row?
Please.. does anyone have a clue why this is happening?

You're definitely not the only one.  I have the same issue.  I spent 6 hours over multiple days on the phone with Apple support trying a variety of things (some of which are mentioned above), and none of them worked.  They finally sent me a replacement laptop.  I made sure to try it periodicaly as I was moving files and installing applications to see if I ran into it again and things seemed okay at first but now I am running into the same issue and it is terribly annoying.  I've got 5 other devices that connect to the same router and I've never had this issue with any of them.
My router is a Linksys E2000.  I haven't tried changing the router channel but I have tried to cnnecting to other networks in the building I live in and I have run into the same issue there.

  • Ram issues in Macbook Pro

Hi, I have had my Macbook Pro for about 2 years now and decided to upgrade the ram. It has a 2.16ghz processor and 1gb ram from apple. I decided to put 2 2gb sticks in (I know it will only read 3gb, just didnt want to risk reducing preformance by using a 1gb and 2gb stick). I ordered the ram and tried to install and had some issues with it. The various configuations I tried and the results are as follows...
1@1gb in slot 1 and nothing in slot 2- works fine
nothing in slot 1 and 1@1gb in slot 2- works fine
1@2gb in slot 1 and nothing in slot 2- works fine
nothing in slot 1 and 1@2gb in slot 2- works fine
1@1gb in slot 1 and 1@1gb in slot 2- will not boot
1@1gb in slot 1 and 1@2gb in slot 2- will not boot
1@2gb in slot 1 and 1@1gb in slot 2- will not boot
1@2gb in slot 1 and 1@2gb in slot 2- will not boot
I also bought ram for my macbook (same ram) so I had two extra 1gb sticks and two extra 2gb sticks, so bad ram is not an issue. All ram was tested in macbook and fuctioned properly.
The only issue that I can see is that the computer will not function if any two pieces of ram are installed. I have had a couple problems with this computer (battery was recalled) so I am curious if this is a common thing or not. I assume the problem has been there since day one, I have just never tried to install ram until now. Currently the laptop is running on one 2gb stick, so all is well for the moment. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Anthony,
Stedman is correct that your Macbook Pro will only support 2 GBs of RAM. However, you should be able to install the 2 GBs in a 2 X 1GB configuration. In fact, this would be the recommended configuration, as this would enable "Dual-Channel" access across the bus (faster).
Are you absolutely certain that you installed 2 X 1GB modules, and did so correctly? Neither module was seated improperly or incompletely? If you are certain, and it wouldn't boot, there may be something wrong (or incompatible) with one of the sticks, or your memory controller could be bad.
If you end up not being able to use both slots at once, you might have to stick with a single 2 GB DIMM. Of course, you could replace the logic board, but....
