Activation Lock Broken IOS 7.1.2

I put my phone in recovery mode because I wanted to try to free up space. It seems that Activation Lock is now broken?????????/ How? It does not prompt me to enter a previous persons apple id and password to activate. It just automatically activates itself. I have Find My Iphone turned on and signed in with my apple id but each time i "erase content and settings" it does not prompt me for my apple id and password to activate. What did I do?

Each time I erase content and settings on my iphone, I get an email:
Find My iPhone has been disabled on Jordan's iPhone.
With Find My iPhone disabled, this device can no longer be located, placed in Lost Mode, or remotely erased using icloud.com/find or the Find My iPhone iOS app.
In addition, your Apple ID and password will no longer be required for someone to erase, reactivate, and use your iPhone.
What is wrong with Activation Lock?????/

  • Activation lock problems iOS 7

    Hi there,
On my iPhone on iOS 6, I was signed into my new, current iCloud account and all was working smoothly. But today I updated to iOS 7, and for some reason, it seems to now be signed into my old, now deleted, iCloud account (Apple ID). I can't delete this iCloud account and sign into my new one without the entering the password for my old account, but when it goes to verify the password of my old account, it always fails because the account is deleted. Is there any way to bypass activation lock so I can sign in to my correct iCloud account? It means that my calendar, contacts, mail, notes etc are now not working.
Also a word of warning, you haven't updated already, don't! It's ugly, slow and glitchy! iOS 6 is far superior.
If anyone has any ideas for me please please post them!
    Thanks
    Jennifer

  • Activation lock in iOS 8

So I lost my iPod touch 5th gen running iOS 8.0.2, and for some stupid reason I did not activate Find My Ipod.
I know that activation lock is only enabled in iOS 7 when you activate Find My Iphone, but in iOS 8, it states in a PC World article that it is turned on by default.
    http://www.pcworld.com/article/2685332/the-kill-switch-is-here-ios-8-enables-it- by-default.html
I just want to confirm that this is 100% true. On the Apple support page, it states that Activation Lock is enabled automatically when you use Find My iPhone on a device using iOS 7 or later.
    Find My iPhone Activation Lock
So I'm confused whether or not if Activation Locked is on by default in iOS 8 even if you do not have Find My iPhone enabled.
    Thanks

No I doubt Find My Ipod is on since I can't track it through iCloud.
Is the PC world article false then? It states in one paragraph:
Apple’s last major operating system update, iOS 7, introduced kill switch software called “Activation Lock.” But it wasn’t enabled by default, something the California law requires. With that changed in iOS 8, the software becomes the first to conform to all elements of the California regulation..
I know that for iOS 7, activation lock is enabled when you enable Find my Ipod. When I first set my iPod up for iOS 8 it asked me to turn on/off Find My ipod, so it isn't turned on by default.

The Apple ID and Password that was Originally used to Activate the iDevice is required
If you do not have that information you will not be able to use the Device.

  • HT201472 Does location services have to be on for activation lock to work ?

Will activation lock work if location services is turned off ?

    How does Activation Lock work?
When you enable Find My iPhone on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 7, your Apple ID is securely stored on Apple’s activation servers and linked to your device. From that point on, your password will be required before anyone can turn off Find My iPhone on your device, erase your device, or reactivate and use your device.
Activation Lock is enabled automatically when you turn on Find My iPhone in iOS 7, or when you upgrade to iOS 7 from a previous version of iOS that has Find My iPhone already turned on.
To turn on Find My iPhone on your device:
    Go to Settings.
    Tap iCloud.
Sign in with your Apple ID, if necessary.
    Turn on Find My iPhone.

  • IPhone activation locked with iCloud password login

My iphone is activation locked requiring my [email protected] password. However the phone will not accept my password.
My apple online ID email is different from the phone required ID email and hence the online password which works lets me log in online, but will not not work on the phone or when trying to log into iCloud online as both require an [email protected] ID and password?

The Apple ID and Password that was Originally used to Activate the iDevice is required
If you do not have that information you will not be able to use the Device.

    Is this a used iPad?
With iOS 7 there’s no workaround.
    They should have done this.

  • Activation lock ios 7

    Dear Sirs
    Help me, please!
After upgrading to iOS7 I can not activate my iPhone
    serial number: C2YJPGCUDTWD
    imei: 013405000856316
I bought it on the secondary market, I have all the documents for this phone: box, the proof of purchase from the store
What should I do so that I can activate the iPhone
Thank you very much, and sorry for my broken English
    thank you
    With respect Stanislav Svischev

If the iPhone refuses to activate because the former owner set up Find My iPhone and didn't release it, then you cannot now restore or activate the iPhone. You will have to get back with that owner and get them to release the Activation Lock:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5818
If you cannot find the owner, or they refuse to help you, then I'm afraid you have purchased an unusable iPhone. You can attempt to get your money back, though that will probably not be possible.
If Find My iPhone was not set up on the device and you're getting the "cannot contact activation server" error message,  there are four primary causes of that error:
The activation server is unavailable. Rare, but it happens. Usually fixed within minutes.
Your antivirus or firewall (or your router's firewall) is blocking access to the domain gs.apple.com on ports 80 and 443.
    Your phone is jailbroken.
Your phone isn't jailbroken, but the computer you are connected to during the restore or update was used to hack or jailbreak some other iOS device, and its network database was corrupted in the process.
Perhaps this will provide you some clues as to how to proceed. If your iPhone has not been jailbroken, Apple has some troubleshooting suggestions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3424
If your iPhone has been jailbroken, you're on your own. We can provide no assistance for jailbroken devices in these forums.

  • How do I unlock an iPhone 4 with iOS 7 and bypass the activation lock?

How do I unlock an iPhone 4 with iOS 7 and bypass the activation lock? I can't find the previous owner and I really want to use my new iPhone, I did purchase it Second-Handed.and now I'm stuck. Ive tried recovery mode and nothing still restores and asks me the same thing. Been working on this forever- Please Help!

If you want to risk your money, fine.
    To answer your questions
Is this just an iOS 7 feature?
Yes, Activation Lock is an iOS 7 feature.
Could you not restore the device to an earlier version?
No, you cannot downgrade your iOS device.
That may mean jailbreaking, I'm not sure.
Jailbreaking is not supported by Apple or this forum.
Or what about replacing the motherboard?
There are no user serviceable parts on an iPhone.

Yes the phone belongs to me. It was purchased from United Kingdom Vodafone to West Africa, i had to factory unlock to use any sim in it. so it belongs to me. I did the activation myself, now after updating my iphone to the latest update, it required a user id and password to activate the phone, but anytime i enter the details, it tells me the user Id is not correct but the password is correct..

  • HT201328 I purchased an iphone off ebay but because of the ios activation lock it won't alloe me to put in my own apple id it tells me to enter the previous owners apple account is there anything i can do?

I purchased an iPhone off eBay and the phone isn't stolen or anything but it has the activation lock on it where it says "this phone is linked to an apple account (****@****.edu) I tried contacting the seller and they thought restoring the phone would remove that but its hasn't any idea what I can do or am I screwed and I need to get my money back

The iOS activation lock is a new feature that will be introduced in iOS 7, and is currently only something that can be used as part of the iOS 7 beta. The activation lock is exactly what the name suggests, it's a lock to prevent activation. This is done so that if the device is stolen, it can't be used. There is no work around you can do on your end, the only way it can be done is for the original owner to remove this device from his "find my iPhone" settings, which he can only do by giving you his appleID login details.
As activation lock is part of iOS 7 developer preview beta, you might get more information at the developer forums however it's more than likely you got ripped off

  • Disabling iOS 7 Activation Lock in an enterprise environment.

I'm wondering if anyone has found a solution for disabling the new Activation Lock feature in iOS 7 without needing to supervise the device through Apple Configurator?  My dilemma is we have about 50 iPhones deployed in our company.  The only way I have found to disable the Activation Lock feature is to supervise the device using Apple Configurator.  However, if the device is supervised, the user cannot sync it with iTunes on their computer.  A lot of our users do sync their iPhones to keep backups, transfer photos, etc.  So the way I see it, I am left with two choices:
We supervise all of our iPhones and tell our users they can't sync with iTunes anymore.
We leave them unsupervised and make a policy that whenever we have to wipe a device we make the user disable Find My iPhone first.
Has anyone found a better solution to this?  Also if we ever get in a situation where a user leaves the company and they did not disable Find My iPhone, can we send the iPhone back to Apple and have them wipe it?  Or would we be left with a nice expensive paper weight?

We just stopped providing phones and instead, cover a set amount of their monthly wireless bill.
If I were in your shoes, I'd offer 2 choices:
    1. The same as #1 in your post.
    2. Let them bring their own device.
Either you have complete control over it (via the configurator), or no control beyond the ability to wipe the data from a device connected to your Exchange server, require a passcode, etc. That can all be done without the need to supervise them using the configurator.
