Activation lock on former employees iPad

I work for a small company and we have a sales force of 8. We bought iPad 2's from AT&T for the salesmen. One of the salesmen was let go a month ago and he turned in his iPad. Which sat in storage until this week when I took it to get it ready for a new employee. When I turned it on I saw the iSO 7 update was waiting so I updated the iPad and wiped it. Now it's asking for the former employee's Apple ID and password.
We've made nurmurous attempts to contact the former employee without sucess. When another employee was able to reach him, he claimed he forgot the password and did not have access to it. We are quite sure he is just being vindictive for being let go.
So the issue is, we have a company owned iPad, bought throught AT&T, through our business rep which we still have the receipt for that is now useless. AT&T says it's an Apple issue and everything I've read seems to indicate that Apple will do nothing to help. The kicker is that the employee used their company email address for their Apple ID, yet must have changed their emergency email to their perosnal email because we have access to their email box and do not get the reset email when we use the iforgot website.
Is there any remedy?

That said ...
Talk to Apple Support. A Senior Advisor could unlock the device as long as you are able to provide the device serial number and proof of purchase.

A month ago my iPhone was stolen, I turned on Activation Lock but it never came out BUT an hour ago somehow my apple ID was changed and someone removed from the account both my iPhone and iPad and the iPad was also remotely wiped. As soon as I saw it I recover the password and return the access to my iPad. But iPhone is not registered for my apple ID any longer. Can Apple help me somehow? I have all the documents and the iPhone box. Will they lock the iPhone and return me access to it. I'm sure it's been attached to another apple ID.
PS. the apple ID I'm using on the discussons is not the hacked one.

  • I can't activate a former employee's ipad

    Hi,
I have an Ipad that a former employee gave us back after he left the company with some stealing problems. He did not left the passcode so I used the Recovery Mode with Itunes and restore the whole Ipad. Now when it starts the configuration dialog and after configuring the wi fi access it says that is associated with an apple id account which of course I don´t have it. What can I do ?

Hodd police there said "we are not up to it, we are not what you can not help" so I think you give me the answer that the best thing to do.
    I await your reply thanks

If a second-hand iOS device has been 'Activation locked' then only the previous owner can unlock it, either by providing you with the account ID and password, or by removing it from his list of devices (as he should have done before selling it) - please see http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4515
If you are unable to contact him to do this then I'm afraid you will not be able to use the device - there is no other way of unlocking it at all. Apple cannot unlock it for you.
You should if possible return it to wherever you bought it and ask for a refund as in this event the device is completely useless.

  • I bought a iPad on ebay secondhand, and its icloud activation locked, can this be fixed?

ipad stuck on activation screen. I bought iPad secondhand from ebay, tried to contact the owner and i have no success, please help!

If you can reach the original owner, then yes, it can be managed without them needing to physically have the device. Read about iCloud: Activation Lock and have the original owner follow the instructions here to remove the iPad from their iCloud account: iCloud: Remove your device from Find My iPhone

  • Activation lock on repaired ipad

I recently bought a faulty ipad 4 from a company on ebay. This company has a contract with Costco where they purchase all of Costco's customer-returned faulty items. The ipad had a faulty battery and would not charge enough to allow a proper boot. I replaced the battery and managed to get it to boot properly, having done so I decided to restore the ipad - this has now resulted in an activation lock appearing when I turn on the device. I know what you're thinking - stolen! I am pretty certain this isn't the case, first I have the ipad in its box with all accessories and the serial number on the box matches that on the back of the ipad; secondly, I asked the company I purchased the ipad from to supply me with proof that it came as part of a batch of faulty items from Costco - I have a receipt for this, also Costco have provided proof that they supplied the item. I have checked that the ipad has not been listed as stolen - it hasn't. The only problem I have now is in trying to trace the original owner so that I can ask him/her to remove the ipad from their icloud account. I feel that Apple should do something in this case as it is obviously a legitimate situation. Does anyone have any advice?

Hi The only thing to do is to get your money back . Cheers Brian

  • ACTIVATION LOCK EXTREMLY DISAPPOINTING

    Good afternoon Apple Community.
I am extremely displeased with Apple for the past 3 months due to this activation lock and I can't find a solution.
I forgot my Apple ID password that was attached to my Iphone 5s and my Ipad and I was unable to update to IOS8 because both devices always asked to put my apple id password and I forgot it. I went to iforgot and I had the recovery key setup on my device thinking it will be extra protection, boy I was wrong.
I was desperate to fix this issue so I went ahead put my ipad on lost mode to remotely wipe it and I've been stuck on the activation screen since. Luckly for me I spoke to an employee of apple and they told me there is an email I can request to turn off find my iphone with proof of purchase, IMEI and license. I went ahead and did the process with my Iphone 5s. Thank God the issue was fixed but now I can't do the same with my ipad because it does not have an IMEI. I have all the proof of purchase, heck I even have access to the apple id email, I have apple care on it as well and it shows all my information which IS MORE PROOF OF PURCHASE. Its not fair that they can take out find my iphone from my iphone 5s device but not my Ipad.
Apple you guys must have a way around this BS.

If you have the proof of purchase for that iPad ... either from Apple itself or some Apple-authorized seller, you'll be able to have it removed. I'll give you a variety of Apple Support documents on the general subject ...

  • IOS 7 Activation Lock and the Enterprise

Is there a status on what Apple will do for Enterprise customers who purchase iPhones/iPads for their end users.  What is Apple going to do to help Enterprise cusotmers deal with the Activation Lock?  We own over 1000 iPhones/iPads and there is a business need to recycle or reissue these devices with the churn of employee terminations, transfers, etc.  We do not supervise our devices.  Currently, we must make sure the departing or transfering employee has to Turn Off Find My Phone on the device and erase it.  This is not always possible and then we end up with a lot of "locked iPhone/iPad bricks"

Nothing official that I've seen yet. Contact your Apple rep and ask.

  • Activation locked to icloud

    Hello ,
I am a help desk tech for a company that uses apple products in our environment. When an employee leaves the company tehy return any assets assigned to them , some have ipads provided by the company. Some people have logged into icloud when they were in possession of the device. Now that the device as been return to stock we are trying to reissue it to a new user but can't wipe it or activate any because its lock to an icloud account.
The user its lock to is no longer with the company and cannot be reached.
    Do I any options ?
    Thanks
    -Andre

Your only option is to get the employee to remove the Apple ID and password and iCloud Find My application before they leave.  Once you cannot get the information from them there is nothing you can do to use that device.  That is called the Activation Lock, an anti-theft protection system that cannot be bypassed.
If you can prove ownership you might try contacting Apple's Enterprise group and see if something can be worked out with them, http://www.apple.com/contact

  • Apple Configurator and getting around "Activation Lock" iOS7

Our school district has just over 5,000 ipads of which 2500 of them are students 13 and over with Apple ID's. The 13 and over students activated find my ipad app upon ipad rollout at the beginning of the year with iOS6.1.3. Now when they either lock themselves out, which happens often I used to (iOS6.1.3) be able to have iTunes or Configurator blow out the lock out and the device was usable again as all of our devices were supervised by a MacBook of that respective school. Now you can't do anything to the device due to the activation lock. Seems like with the advent of iOS7 I know have to manage my devices with a chainsaw (complete re-provision) and loss of all data for student, instead of a scalpel with 6.1.3 and a simple touch with iTunes or Configurator.
I've read some other discussions on this where I.T. departments are having to get with their H.R. departments to have employees or students sign off on a lock out policy. Ridiculous! This is a major road block for districts trying to manage large quanity's of ipads. Has anyone come up with a technical work around for this?

my son got to my new iphone before i had chance to activate it created a crappy bogus email [email protected] first name fred last name flintstone 1905 or something like this for dob password that was like 20 random digits was basically messing with the phone so i thought oh well i will restore it now its asking for apple id f*****************@i**********.com
called apple told them what has happened
sorry sir you need to contact the person who activated the apple id to login to deactivate it i explained well its impossible it was all random **** i thought you have to confirm email before its activated the tech assistant said well if this is the case and cant remember opassword then the phone will never be activated you will simply have to purchase another phone anything else i can assist you with
and im not the only one here faced with similar circumstances

  • How did you know your idevice will be activation lock ?

I bought used iPad mini (only the body) at present it's work well I could use my Apple ID, buy some apps and update the FW via OTA. I heard from amny person If I restore and maybe it could not work unless I do not know the username and password of the previous owener (Activation Locked). My iPad mini will be a piece of junk only.
My question is how did I know my current iPad mini will be Activation Locked if I do the restore ? Do we have the method to check ?

And how should I know my device was enabled the Find my Phone already ?
The way to know would be to look in the iCloud settings to see if Find My iPhone is set. If you can't set into those settings, then it's highly probable that it's set and hence Activation Lock will be in effect.
Because If the previous was never enable it, it should be ok from Activation lock right ?
If you are certain that the previous owner never set up Find My iPad, then Activation Lock would not be a concern.
    Regards.

  • Locking "Clea Form" with signatures

I've created a fillable form and have inserted 3 sections. At the end of section one an employee is required to add their signature. In that signature box property I have set it so that once the signature is applied all form fields selected become read only. The form is then passed onto the next employee to fill out section two and I don't want them to be able to edit the first section of the record. etc. The final signature in section three should lock all form fields.
These signatures lock the fields from being able to be edited, however it's kind of pointless when anybody after signing the document can hit "Clear Form" and all the form fields are removed - hence leaving me with a document that contains no records, just signtaures.
How can I prevent the use of "Clear Form" from being used?

    Hi,
If you choose to host your site on Business catalyst, then you can add the file attachment uploader button to your form depending on your site plan. For signatures, there isn't really an option to add signatures. However, you can add a check box button to the form in BC and serve it as the "I accept to terms and conditions" or something like that. You can make it a mandatory field to enforce the submitter's consent.
    Hope this helps.

    Aish
