Activation of Dreamweaver

I purchased Dreamweaver about a year ago and installed it on two machines.
About 6 months later I formatted one of the hard drives and at the time didn't realise that I needed to deactivate Dreamweaver and so was not able to re-install. I was willing to accept the inconvenience and to be honest, trying to find somewhere on the Adobe website to resolve this problem took several hours out of my life and to I let it go.
A week ago I spilt a glass of wine over my keyboard and my laptop is now dead. I'e tried to reinstall Dreamweaver, but am unable to do so.
Can anyone help, because trying to find a contact point at Adobe is one of the most frustrating experiences in my life.
All I want to do is to be able to use the licence tha I bought on my two machines.

Can anyone tell me how to configure dreamweaver to play any
of this audio file formats in my web browser in preveiw.(mozzila
fire fox 1.5) I can view flash etc but i can not emdebbed or even
place a music file there. Music has to be downloaded if the visitor

Activating Macromedia Dreamweaver 6.1

Hi
I need to reinstall Macromedia Dreamweaver 6.1 for one of our user on his new computer
Unfortunately, i did not have the installation file ...or its somewhere hard to be found...
Our serial number is store in our database so it's no problem for that
I've called Adobe support wich told me they no longer supported this and couldn't give me the installation file
I've easely located dwmx61_trial_en.exe on some website wich i've downloaded...
Testing it on my computer before, i can't find any places so i can activate my trial to be the full version...
It says trial 30 days of course....but no button to do something about it...
Anyone can tell me how to do this?

The only 2 menu that would look like what we are talking about are:
Online registration
Print registration
Altough they won't work, nothing happens when i click on them, ....
Of course, the question would be if the trial file has bin altered but i don't beleive so since i saw what other files came with it, wich make me beleive thats the correct trial file....
Anyway, if i go in the macromedia folder, i have a link to register online...i need to add all my information, name etc... but it only seem to register my product for them to have my information, not for the trial to become not anymore just a trial.... is what i need to do???

How can I get into my locked Dreamweaver files?

I bought a new iMac last week and transferred my CS4 files from my G5 (not Intel) to the new machine. First I used Apples migration assistant and found I couldn't open any of the CS 4 Adobe programs. So after Googling for answers I copied them all to an external hard drive and moved them onto the iMac that way. Now Illustrator and InDesign work fine, but I get this message when I try to open a file in Dreamweaver; "xxx.html is a locked file and can be viewed but not changed. What would you like to do with this file?" If I click 'View', I can open it but can't do anything with it. Also, I can open and manipulate my Photoshop files but can't save them. I have a bunch of web clients waiting for me to solve this problem. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. (And yes, I installed Rosetta on the iMac).

It has nothing to do with your activation. How do I know that?
Simple: Up until 2009 I worked with developer's copies of CS3 and CS4 under a volume license through a former employer. A pre-loaded serial number. NO activation. I installed it and used it for eight months on one system WITH NO INTERNET CONNECTION. There was no way it could have activated even if it was required to. I edited files from other systems day in and day out on that machine.
I jump sites between a CS3 and CS4 machine regularly now. Different builds different serial numbers different activations. I even did it between CS4 and CS5 and my PC and MacBook.
Trust me when I say this is a Mac OS permissions issue.
You might want to look up the procedure for performing a CHOWN and and CHMOD permissions change in Single User Mode on these files. But it has nothing whatsoever to do with your activation of Dreamweaver.
If you need further proof. Uninstall it and reinstall as a trial. No serial number, no activation. It still won't open the files because it has nothing to do with it, even in a version (30 day trial) that requires no activation.

Cursor Focus in Dreamweaver

This has been driving me nuts since I switched to Mac.
I have code view open in Dreamweaver CS4. I am writing code. When I switch windows to my browser (Apple-Tab) and then back again the cursor is not active in Dreamweaver. I see where it is (or sometimes it's hard to find) and it's not blinking. I have to click to start typing again. This has got to be the most annoying thing ever. I can't just start typing again? I have to find where the cursor is on the screen and click and THEN start typing??? There HAS to be a fix for this!!

Hi. I am starting from scratch with this.
part1.
My objective is to create a website that takes advantage of DreamweaverCC's fluid-grid-layout so that my web Site auto-flows on
smartphones, tablets and desktops/laptops.
file > new > fluid-grid-layout.
By default, it says 'unnamed.css'
I named it testSite.css
click okay.
(This is the only way to begin with a fluid-grid-layout - I think).
It opens a split view.
On the right frame is a DIV that has this text inside.

I see these assignments in the code.
But in the properties panel with HTML (not css panel) selected.
It shows ID None.

index.php is my main web page.
It has several images (the 4 different squares).
I created a separate .html file for each square: square1.html square2.html square3.html square4.html.
At this point, each of those pages has only one sentence. 'contents for square#N) will be on this page'
I used the properties panel and linked the 4 images on index.php to these .html files.
When I 'View in Safari/Firefox' each of those images (squares) when clicked - bring me to the appropriate page.
So I've got some of this working

What am I doing incorrectly ?
From one of my other posts - as we got onto this topic, it was suggested that I just place the php code:

within the index.html file exactly where I want it to show up.
I want it to show up at the top of each page.
Well at this point it is not showing up anywhere !!
But if I have header.php active in Dreamweaver and 'view in safari/firefox'
the browser does show the header.php page.

When I view testSite.css
I understand that it has 3 different sets of selectors for each of the 3 different devices.
But how do I 'assign' css properties to the contents inside of header.php ?
With header.php active/open, from the 'properties panel' I can select CSS and choose: font, size, color from there and it works
but should I not have this included in the testSite.css ?
Lots of questions. Hope that I explained it in an organized fashion.

Nope - but everything that you insert using the Insert panel will give you the opportunity to specify that it's a fluid element, which you can do by enabling the checkbox on the dialog. This means that you CAN insert a <div> that is not a fluid element. It's only the ones that you insert as a fluid element that will get that class automatically.

Assigning an ID to any element on the page allows you to target that element with a particular CSS rule.

There is no similarity at all. There are four ways you can identify a page element to apply a CSS rule:
1. By tag, e.g., all paragraph tags on the page.
2. By context, e.g., any paragraph tag that is within a <nav> element.
3. By 'class' assignment, e.g., any element that has been given a particular "class" attribute -> <p class="foo">
4. By ID, e.g., any element that has been given a particular "ID" attribute -> <p id="foo">
The weight of any style (i.e., which one to use in the event of conflict) is determined by a number of characteristics of the CSS 'selector' that carries the rule.

Is there a way to LIST OUT all of the active images that are currently being used on a page in Dreamweaver? Or do I have to click each one and write down the image name by hand?

Here are 2 ways to "start over":
1. remove all photos (or all extraneous photos anyway) from existing catalog (e.g. all photos collection, ctrl/cmd-a, then delete key).
2. create a new catalog (see file menu).
It sounds like #2 would be best for you, so you don't have extraneous keywords in your catalog etc.

I now (and a bite late) realize that my licenses are not recognized by Adobe. I am desperate. I cannot afford the expense of buying or paying access to the software and, still, I need the tools for all those little things I do for enjoyment. What can be done?

The licenses are operating system specific, so one option would be to retain use of the Windows machine you had before the Mac.
If you want to try to use the older stuff on your new Mac you can try installing Windows emulation software such as Bootcamp.

Dreamweaver MX 2004 in Win 8 activation

I used the chat service to ask about transferring my Dreamweaver MX 2004 license from a Win 7 computer to a new Win 8 computer. The person said DW MX2004 will not run on Win 8. But it does - I am using it under the 30 day grace period. I just need to activate it but the transfer will not work. Help please.

Thanks for the info. I will sift through it. The Win 8 machine was a new purchase. I use Windows Easy Transfer to bring over my settings and files. None of the apps were transferred of course. As far as I could tell, all my email and other data files came over ok. I use Eudora for email and since the ini files reside in the same folder as the data, it installed and retained all my settings. Yes I still use Eudora - it just works and I have found nothing better. Browser favorites came over fine too. Folderclone settings transferred, etc. I would hazard a guess that any settings that were stored in some sort of ini file in my data directory or user directory came over fine. But for most apps I had to manually restore my settings. Dreamweaver was one of those - I redefined the site definitions. <vent on> No doubt there is some registry setting or whatever getting in the way. I can appreciate the difficulty of catering to legacy code in new operating systems. All the more reason to keep things simple. If Adobe insists on using a 'too clever by half' activation scheme, they should have built in a back door that their support staff can use to activate stubborn but valid installs. <vent off> I'll wander off now and see if I can set up new Admin account. I tried earlier today but get mired in Win8 obtuseness.
