Right now we are working on ECC 6.0 and we want to use Some of the features of IS Mill (MILL_CUT). so my question to you is if we activate IS MILL will we loose any other standard functionalities?

Automatic Selection for Combination Order Creation

We are working with MTO scenario where production orders are created against sales order. Production orders will be combined for common items from two sales orders. We have activated the SAP MILL Products DIMP, for this functionality.
But in MILL_OC, we need to manually input the production order numbers, which we want to combine. Our client's requirement is that the system should select the production orders of common items and combine them automatically (Input will be only 2 Sale order numbers)
As per below mentioned link, it is possible using a function module MILL_OC_ORDER_MERGE.

What we are not able to understand is the input required for this FM. Can anyone help?

How to install DI system? bills of service(BOS)

Hi Lance,
I think that to use the SD bill of service, you have to activate ECC-DIMP.
You can do that through SPRO -> Activate Business Functions, selecting "Discreet Industries & Mill Prod." in Business Function Set, and then activating "Discrete Industries - Mill Products".
Once this is done, BoS menus and IMG nodes should be added.

Batch Split during GR for Production Order Confirmation

Hi All,
We need to do batch splitting during GR for Production Order Confirmation.We are using CO11N for confirming the Production Order and in the PP settings auto GR is activated once the Confirmation is done.
Currently it is generating only single batch number for the complete quantity, but our requirement is that we need that system should create separate batch for each piece.
For ex.: Production Order is for 100 pce, when we do Production Order confirmation, system is automatically doing the GR by 101 movement type and it is creating one single batch for full 100 pce. But we want the batch number should be generated for 1 pce i.e. we want to split the 100 pce into 100 batches with 1 pce each.
Please let me know what can be done for this requirement.

In OPK0 you need to active the screen Mill: Goods Receipt (8485) for confirmation profile for the single-screen entry.
Best way is use BAdI /SAPMP/SPLIT_CO11N for the Enter Time Ticket for Production Order transaction (CO11N)
you must activate BAdI implementation /SAPMP/SPLIT_POPUP and/or /SAPMP/SPLIT_CO11N for this BAdI
I have use the same BADI it will ask you number of split according to that it will split the GR line item.

Activation of Discrete Industries and Mill Products in existing IDES system

as i checked in IDES , facility to activate the addtional packages are there.
with transaction SFW5, i can select the required package and activate it.
but during this process system is giving some warning,

Record milli-second into Activity Log table

Hello,
Can we have any option to make ME logs into its table(s) the time stamp by milli-second like 2011-03-24 10:31:08.123?

We develop a custom program to request SAP ME to perform signoff, adjust qty, start and complete.
The 4 requests will request one by one in the described sequence.
When we perform above program with an active status SFC and confirm how ME's Activity Log Report displayed.
Then, the sequence was strange.
[operation sequence]
1. SIGNOFF, 2. ADJUST_QTY, 3. START, 4. COMPLETE
[Activity Log displayed]
1. ADJUST_QTY, 2. COMPLETE, 3. SIGNOFF, 4. START
We This log will make user confused.
According to our engineer, all of these 4 actions are recorded with same time stamp like 2011-03-24 10:31:08.000.
So, I think if there's some option to allow mill-second log into ME database, it will be a solution.
(I guess, the other log tables like production log, resource_time_log and production_comment are also in similar situation.)

Such changes have already been implemented for some customers to meet requirements of their workload. Not sure about including them into future releases. You need to discuss this with SAP consultants to submit the change for review by Product Management.

Customer order actual activity report

I am using make to order strategy and I have a multilevel BOM structure. I am following some semi-finished products individually for customer order and some for make to stock. I need a report to see the actual activity confirmations for a single customer order including all the activities of semi-finished products in BOM. For your help please.

This is rather a problem of material ledger multi-level settlement than of activity pricing. Material ledger will pick up the actual activity price correctly and will use the difference against the former activvity price as multi-level price difference on the production process. The problem is, if there are multiple outputs coming out of the process, as is resulting of the order combination process, material ledger will by default search for a apportionment structure (for joint production) in the material master of the main (or original) output material. As nothing will be maintained there, all the differences will go to this material.
You can overcome the situation by a BADI implementation of BADI cost_split. There should be an example implementation in your system (if you have the Mill Products add-on active, as is indicated because you use Mill_oc) that enables to distribute the price differences by quantity of the outputs of a process. If you don't find the example implementation I could provide it to you.

Followed the below steps.
Step1:
Created a String variable "currentDateTimeValue" in BPEL.
Step2:
I have used the below code in JavaEmbedding in BPEL.

Now added this DateElement in Transformation activity, as a second source variable. Mapped this data to the required target element in my XSL.

We are using ECC 6.0 and have activated IS Retail system.
And for our specific business, we wanted to use some functions in IS mill, such as double-measure-unit for per meterial with variable convert factors, it is similar to steel.
Can this two functionalities be used together?
Does there any implication and dangerous of doing this?

For double unit of measure for one article, you can use "catch weight management", its not comes under IS_Retail.
Catch Weight Management applies to the meat/diary industry.

Leading zero check got activated in production .

Hi,
We had a DIMP ( Discrete Industries Mill Products) addtional installation to our existing landscape on last weekedn. we have a strange issue after that.
Most of the select queries based on material number,vendor,customer are failing. with further analysis it was observed that select queries are failing because of leading zero's missing .
we are surprised since the same queries worked perfectly fine before ( and it still runs perfectly fine in qulaity client) but now it is failing.
we know workaround to change all custome programs with conversion exit addtion to material,lifnr,kunnar ect.. but does anybody know if there is any business function which got activated to check leading zero's in select queries and this got activated along with DIMP.
let me know if you have any helpful inputs.
PS: i wnat to restore my original settings for leading zero so we dont need to change nay programs.

some more analysis is required: For the failed selects, where do the missing-leading-zero kunnr/matnr/lifnr come from?
If from screen input, check the screens are active, check the input fields data type, active, conversion exit correct?
It may be a good idea to check the whole system for inactive objects.
If from other sources, check the complete way the data goes before use in SELECT WHERE clause.
If you have found one errors source, this will lead to more.
There are a couple of SAP notes on DIMP, at least the activation process of DIMP should be checked.

Collective Order Actual Activity Pricing

Hi Gurus
We are using collective orders for production orders. As you know collective processes are used for costing shared processes.
Let me explain the problem with an example: Say, we have product A and B to be produced. These two have shared operations and costs will be collected via collective orders by Tcode mill_oc.
The process is as below:
Production order 1 for product A. - Normal production order - CO01
Production order 2 for product B. - Normal production order - CO01
Production order 3 for product A - Collective production order - mill_oc
Confirmations are done for Order 3 during period. At the end of the period Order 3 is settled to Order 1 and Order 2 with certain proportions.
Actual activity price is calculated via Tcode:KSII. During CKMLCP the system valuates activities (posting price differences) for Order 3 product, Product A only. It must be the case that Product A and Product B have to be revaluated.
NOTE: Actual activity price is valuated in material ledger, rather in orders (not with CON2)
Is there any OSS notes or solution for this problem? If there is huge activity price differences, all the value is posted to just one product, which is collective orders product, rather than both lower level orders' products.

We configure the activity report tool without problems, but since some days the tool has these errors on oracle and there is no more information stored in the database:

Active data framework

I am in the process of trying to prototype a screen that reflects committed changes made to the database.
For example I have some rows that have theirs status's changed.
I understand the "push" technology is called "active data framework"/
What I need is a small example of how this can be implemented. I can only find a couple of posts on the internet and they are vague.

They talk about adding components that I cannot see in Jdeveloper (version 11.1.1.2). Also it appears the data must be complient with this push technology too.
I hope this can be acheived easily. I remember listening to a podcast from Duncan Mills. He made it seem so easy.

I am starting simple with trying to get a table to "twinkle".
I thought I would use BAM rather than fuss around with the proxy stuff (at the moment at least).
To create an Oracle BAM connection:
1. Select New from the File main menu in Oracle JDeveloper.
The New Gallery dialog opens.
2. Choose Connections from the General category.
3. Select BAM Connection in the Items list, and click OK.
The BAM Connection wizard opens. .....................................
Unfortunately there is no BAM connection option. I guess is should be between "Application Server Connection" and "Database Connection"
This may really be another post although I guess it is still relevant to the original question of how to set up an easy example of ADS.
