Activation of objects after replication on production BW

Hello Experts,
I have made changes  to the datasource in development that is to  a customised field which was added in the extract structure.This change was transported to production earlier and replication of the datasource .along with the append structure,datasource,and the activation of all the required objects on bw production that were inactive as a result of change  was done.
However later i realised  that i did not remove or uncheck the field only option in the data source for this field to be passed to the extractor.
So i went back and made changes in the development data source and transported the changes to production.
Now i know that i need to replicate the datasource in production .My question is will the objects like ,infosource ,transfer rules,update rules to ods and further update rules to infocube will become inactive. If they are i know it is just that i need to activate them.
I am sure that all rules ,objects in the dataflow will stay active. Because in quality BW system after the data source was transported to QA and replication done the objects and rule were active.
Do i still need to activate all the objects and rules in production even if they are active.
Please advice experts. I will assign points for sure.

madhuri

Hi madhuri,
No need of activating all the objects again in production.
Only objects requiring activation are transfer rules.
So replicate the datasource from BW and then send a transport for activating the transfer rules. This would do.
If you are not interested in having a BW transport that also will do.
You just need to run a program "RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL" specifying the infosource and source system.
This also will solve the purpose.

  • Datasource activation in BI 7.0 after replication

    Hi Gurus
    we have SAP BI 7.0 and we are extracting data from SAP ECC 5.0.
    We have few custom datasources created on R3 side which we have replicated and activated( Manually) on BI Dev side.
    Now the problem is when we transported the datasource from R3 Dev to R3 Q and replicated to BI Q , the datasource was replicated correctly ( as BI datasources ) but it is in M version. Would you please advise how can I activate that datasource?
    I heared so many ways of activating the datasources but nothing confirm , would anybody please advise me how many ways we can activate the datasource in Q and P after replication? ( for all 3X version we didnt have this problem as datasources were replicated in active mode only ).
    Thanks

    Have you transported the BI mappings also (Transformations or Transfer Rules) and even then the data sources are still in 'M' version.
    If not -
    I would suggest to transport a BI mapping from BI dev to Q.
    Make sure to collect the R/3 active data source in this BI transport.
    I assume the 'Import' & 'Method execution' steps in the transport might activate the data sources also.
    (P.S: In stead of transporting all the mappings, transport only a test mapping)
    Let us know if this works.
    Assign points if it helps.
    Thanks
    Vishno

  • In which situation I need to active objects after transport

    Hi Experts,
        I'm wondering in which situation I need to active object after transport?  In some cases, I have to active transformation, DTP, infoobject, multiprovider....  Does any one make a conclusion of that?
        thanks in advance.
    Eric

    Sometimes, because of impact of a transport some other objects will be deactivated, then we need to manuaaly activate the objects after transport.
    Also, sometimes transport after import process could not be able to activate the objects, then also we have to activate them manually.
    Or suppose, you have moved and infoobject, due to which some other objects become inactive (where ever infoobjects is being used), then we have to activate them manually, if you dont want to transport them.

    Hello,
    You do not mention your source system release but can you execute the check report
    described in the SAP note 493422 , if this does not resolve the problem can you goto
    RSA1, right click on the relevant "source system" and choose the "restore" option,
    then please try and replicate and activate the datasource again.
    If you  have BW release 7.0 please check that the note 929751is applied in your system

  • I am not able to change the object after upgrade(SPAU Activity).

    HI All,
    I am not able to change the object after upgrade(SPAU Activity). Please any one can tell what is the reason with below details.
    You are not authorized to make changes
    Message no. 37202
    Diagnosis
    You have no authorization for the authorization object 'S_DEVELOP', which would allow you to change the screen concerned.
    There is also a second possibility:
    You want to edit a modified SAP screen in a customer system after an upgrate (SAP transport). The screen remains locked for editing until the new SAP version and the customer version have been aligned (Transaction SPAU).
    System Response
    Authorizations are assigned to users in profiles. Profiles are stored in the user master record.
    Procedure
    Comsult your system administrator.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Mahesh Devershetty

    Hi,
    Does the user who would like to change the screen have the authorisation
    for S_DEVELOP in his profile? Please run transaction /NSU53 after the
    failed authorisation. You will get an information which authorisation
    is missing.
    Additional please check if you have open entries in transaction SPAU for
    that object.
    If you couldn´t solve the issue I need an user to analyse it in your
    development system.
    That user needs all authorisation for development and has to be
    registrated as developer.
    The system uses the authorization object S_DEVELOP for Workbench objects
    can you please check your user master record whether it contains the
    required autorization or not.
    Please also ensure that modification adjustment is turned on as per note:

  • [Forum FAQ] Using PowerShell to assign permissions on Active Directory objects

    As we all know, the
    ActiveDirectoryAccessRule class is used to represent an access control entry (ACE) in the discretionary access control list (DACL) of an Active Directory Domain Services object.
    To set the permissions on Active Directory objects, the relevant classes and their enumerations are listed as below:
    System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectoryAccessRule class:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.directoryservices.activedirectoryaccessrule(v=vs.110).aspx
    System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectoryRights
    class:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.directoryservices.activedirectoryrights(v=vs.110).aspx
    System.Security.AccessControl.AccessControlType class:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/w4ds5h86(v=vs.110).aspx
    System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectorySecurityInheritance class:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.directoryservices.activedirectorysecurityinheritance(v=vs.110).aspx
    In this article, we introduce three ways to get and set the ACE on an Active Directory object. In general,
    we use Active Directory Service Interfaces (ADSI) or
    Active Directory module cmdlets
    with the Get-Acl and Set-Acl cmdlets to assign simple permissions on Active Directory objects. In addition, we can use the extended rights and GUID settings to execute
    more complex permission settings.
    Method 1: Using ADSI
      1. Get current permissions of an organization unit (OU)
    We can use the PowerShell script below to get current permissions of an organization unit and you just need to define the name of the OU.
    $Name = "OU=xxx,DC=com"
    $ADObject = [ADSI]"LDAP://$Name"
    $aclObject = $ADObject.psbase.ObjectSecurity
    $aclList = $aclObject.GetAccessRules($true,$true,[System.Security.Principal.SecurityIdentifier])
    $output=@()
    foreach($acl in $aclList)
    $objSID = New-Object System.Security.Principal.SecurityIdentifier($acl.IdentityReference)
         $info = @{
    'ActiveDirectoryRights' = $acl.ActiveDirectoryRights;
    'InheritanceType' = $acl.InheritanceType;
    'ObjectType' = $acl.ObjectType;
    'InheritedObjectType' = $acl.InheritedObjectType;
    'ObjectFlags' = $acl.ObjectFlags;
    'AccessControlType' = $acl.AccessControlType;
    'IdentityReference' = $acl.IdentityReference;
    'NTAccount' = $objSID.Translate( [System.Security.Principal.NTAccount] );
    'IsInherited' = $acl.IsInherited;
    'InheritanceFlags' = $acl.InheritanceFlags;
    'PropagationFlags' = $acl.PropagationFlags;
    $obj = New-Object -TypeName PSObject -Property $info
    $output+=$obj}
    $output
    In the figure below, you can see the results of running the script above:
    Figure 1.
    2. Assign a computer object with Full Control permission on an OU
    We can use the script below to delegate Full Control permission to the computer objects within an OU:
    $SysManObj = [ADSI]("LDAP://OU=test….,DC=com") #get the OU object
    $computer = get-adcomputer "COMPUTERNAME" #get the computer object which will be assigned with Full Control permission within an OU
    $sid = [System.Security.Principal.SecurityIdentifier] $computer.SID
    $identity = [System.Security.Principal.IdentityReference] $SID
    $adRights = [System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectoryRights] "GenericAll"
    $type = [System.Security.AccessControl.AccessControlType] "Allow"
    $inheritanceType = [System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectorySecurityInheritance] "All"
    $ACE = New-Object System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectoryAccessRule $identity,$adRights,$type,$inheritanceType #set permission
    $SysManObj.psbase.ObjectSecurity.AddAccessRule($ACE)
    $SysManObj.psbase.commitchanges()
    After running the script above, you can check the computer object in Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC) and it is under the Security tab in OU Properties.
    Method 2: Using Active Directory module with the Get-Acl and Set-Acl cmdlets
    You can use the script below to get and assign Full Control permission to a computer object on an OU:
    $acl = get-acl "ad:OU=xxx,DC=com"
    $acl.access #to get access right of the OU
    $computer = get-adcomputer "COMPUTERNAME"
    $sid = [System.Security.Principal.SecurityIdentifier] $computer.SID
    # Create a new access control entry to allow access to the OU
    $identity = [System.Security.Principal.IdentityReference] $SID
    $adRights = [System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectoryRights] "GenericAll"
    $type = [System.Security.AccessControl.AccessControlType] "Allow"
    $inheritanceType = [System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectorySecurityInheritance] "All"
    $ACE = New-Object System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectoryAccessRule $identity,$adRights,$type,$inheritanceType
    # Add the ACE to the ACL, then set the ACL to save the changes
    $acl.AddAccessRule($ace)
    Set-acl -aclobject $acl "ad:OU=xxx,DC=com"
    Method 3: Using GUID setting
    The scripts above can only help us to complete simple tasks, however, we may want to execute more complex permission settings. In this scenario, we can use GUID settings to achieve
    that.
    The specific ACEs allow an administrator to delegate Active Directory specific rights (i.e. extended rights) or read/write access to a property set (i.e. a named collection of attributes) by
    setting ObjectType field in an object specific ACE to the
    rightsGuid of the extended right or property set. The delegation can also be created to target child objects of a specific class by setting the
    InheritedObjectType field to the schemaIDGuid of the class.
    We choose to use this pattern: ActiveDirectoryAccessRule(IdentityReference, ActiveDirectoryRights, AccessControlType, Guid, ActiveDirectorySecurityInheritance, Guid)
    You can use the script below to
    assign the group object with the permission to change user password on all user objects within an OU.
    $acl = get-acl "ad:OU=xxx,DC=com"
    $group = Get-ADgroup xxx
    $sid = new-object System.Security.Principal.SecurityIdentifier $group.SID
    # The following object specific ACE is to grant Group permission to change user password on all user objects under OU
    $objectguid = new-object Guid
    00299570-246d-11d0-a768-00aa006e0529 # is the rightsGuid for the extended right User-Force-Change-Password (“Reset Password”)
    class
    $inheritedobjectguid = new-object Guid
    bf967aba-0de6-11d0-a285-00aa003049e2 # is the schemaIDGuid for the user
    $identity = [System.Security.Principal.IdentityReference] $SID
    $adRights = [System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectoryRights] "ExtendedRight"
    $type = [System.Security.AccessControl.AccessControlType]
    "Allow"
    $inheritanceType = [System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectorySecurityInheritance] "Descendents"
    $ace = new-object System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectoryAccessRule $identity,$adRights,$type,$objectGuid,$inheritanceType,$inheritedobjectguid
    $acl.AddAccessRule($ace)
    Set-acl -aclobject $acl "ad:OU=xxx,DC=com"
    The figure below shows the result of running the script above:
    Figure 2.
    In addition, if you want to assign other permissions, you can change the GUID values in the script above. The common GUID values are listed as below:
    $guidChangePassword
    = new-object Guid ab721a53-1e2f-11d0-9819-00aa0040529b

    Add Object Specific ACEs using Active Directory Powershell

    The ActiveDirectoryAccessRule has more than one constructor, but yes, you've interpreted the one that takes six arguments correctly.
    Those GUIDs are different (check just before the first dash). Creating that ACE will create an empty GUID for InheritedObjectType, though, because you're telling it to apply to the Object only ([System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectorySecurityInheritance]::None).
    Since the ACE will only apply to the object, there's no need to worry about what types of objects will inherit it.
    If you've got time, check out
    this module. It will let you view the security descriptors in a much friendlier format. Try both version 3.0 and the version 4.0 preview:
    Sample version 3.0:
    # This is going to be kind of slow, and it will take a few seconds the first time
    # you run it because it has to build the list of GUID <--> Property/Class/etc objects
    Get-ADGroup GroupY |
    Get-AccessControlEntry -ObjectAceType member -InheritedObjectAceType group -ActiveDirectoryRights WriteProperty
    # Same as the previous command, except limit it to access granted to GroupX
    Get-ADGroup GroupY |
    Get-AccessControlEntry -ObjectAceType member -InheritedObjectAceType group -ActiveDirectoryRights WriteProperty -Principal GroupX
    Here's version 4.0. It's way faster than 3.0, but it's missing the -ObjectAceType and -InheritedObjectAceType parameters on Get-AccessControlEntry (don't worry, when they come back they'll be better than in 3.0):
    Get-ADGroup GroupY |
    Get-AccessControlEntry
    Get-ADGroup GroupY |
    Get-AccessControlEntry -ActiveDirectoryRights WriteProperty
    Get-ADGroup GroupY |
    Get-AccessControlEntry -ActiveDirectoryRights WriteProperty -Principal GroupX
    # You can do a Where-Object filter until the parameters are added back to Get-AccessControlEntry:
    Get-ADGroup GroupY |
    Get-AccessControlEntry -ActiveDirectoryRights WriteProperty |
    where { $_.AccessMask -match "All Prop|member Prop" }
    Get-ADGroup GroupY |
    Get-AccessControlEntry -ActiveDirectoryRights WriteProperty |
    where { $_.ObjectAceType -in ($null, [guid]::Empty, "bf9679c0-0de6-11d0-a285-00aa003049e2") }
    Get-ADGroup GroupY |
    Get-AccessControlEntry -ActiveDirectoryRights WriteProperty |
    where { $_.AccessMask -match "All Prop|member Prop" -and $_.AppliesTo -match "group"}
    That's just for viewing. Version 3.0 can add and remove access, or you can use New-AccessControlEntry to replace your call to New-Object, and you can still use Get-Acl and Set-Acl. The benefit to New-AccessControlEntry is that you can do something like this:
    New-AccessControlEntry -Principal GroupX -ActiveDirectoryRights WriteProperty -ObjectAceType member -InheritedObjectAceType group #-AppliesTo Object

  • Refreshing Entity Objects after Altering the table

    Hi,
    My Entity Object is based on a table... and View Objects on the Entity Objects. Now if I alter the table (just changing the width of the column), that change is not visible on the Entity Object. Is there any way I can automatically refresh the Entity Objects after altering the table(only column width is changed).
    (Changes made to Entity Objects manually are reflected in the View Object correctly.)
    Regards
    Faiyaz

    'changing the width of the column' means changing the size of the column in the table description in the database. For e.g.. In the original table I had a column OIL_KEY NUMBER(6). Now I change the column to be of size 12 i.e. OIL_KEY NUMBER(12). This does not get refreshed in the Entity Object.

  • Error when activating DataStore Object

    Hello,
    We have an ODS object which is in avtive stage in ECC DEV system. When
    we transport it to ECC QA system it can not be activated and shows
    follwoing errors :
    1) Internal error occurred when writing
    Message no. D0054
    2) Error while saving change log for DataStore object DSO_PL
    Message no. RSDODSO196
    3) Error during creation of DDIC sources of DataStore Object DSO_PL
    Message no. RSO435
    4) Error when activating DataStore Object DSO_PL
    Message no. RSO404
    We also observe that even we create new ODS object in ECC QA system,
    still it give the same errors while activating.
    Note - ECC QA is a system copy of ECC PROD.
    Please suggest.

    Hi,
    I believe the problem is with the Myself connection (the BW source system connection to itself) in the QA system.
    Please goto RSA1, 'source systems', right click on the myself system and click on 'check', if there are errors you
    maybe able to correct them by right clicking on the myself connection and click on 'restore'. If there are no
    errors for the myself connection you should go to sm59 and do the connection and authorization test for the
    RFC connection for the myself connection.
    Best Regards,
    Des.
