Activation of Preinstalled windows 8.1

Question

Hi,I just bought HP Notebook with Preinstalled Windows 8.1 (64 -bits) but windows not activated. The option to activate Windows keeps poping up whenever I turn  on the Notebook, pleases how do I go about activating the Windows. N/B: the Note book came sealed with no CD for activation. Sincerely, John.

Hi John, You could try the following, however if it doesn't resolve the activation issue, my best advice would be to return the notebook to the retailer and get it replaced as Windows should show as activated after the initial set-up. Hold down the ctrl and alt keys and press delete. Select Task Manager. In the bottom left select More Details ( if it's not already selected ). Click in the Name column header to arrange the processes in alphabetical order. Find the process Windows Explorer, then right click on it and select Restart. When the process has restarted, close Task Manager, then right click the Start Menu icon, select Command Prompt (Admin) and click ‘Yes’ to the uac prompt. Enter the following command and hit enter ( Note that there is a space between slmgr and -rearm ) slmgr -rearm Restart the notebook. Regards, DP-K
