Activation Photoshop CS3
I want to activate Photoshop CS3 on a new Win7-PC. Therefore I have to deactivate the old installation on the Win XP PC. To deactivate you have to click in the menu help – deactivate. Unfortunately there is no such menu item. What can I do, to activate my new installation?
Contact support to reset activations server side.

Photoshop CS3 Initialization Error
Successfully installed & activated Photoshop CS3 on a new PC with a fresh Windows 7 Pro 64bit installation, along with Photoshop CS3 10.0.1 & Bridge CS3 2.1.1.9 updates. Bridge runs fine, but Photoshop returns the following error when attempting to launch the program, "Could not initialize Photoshop because of a program error." Attempted to resolve by the following steps:
Remove/reinstall CS3 in root directory
Remove/reinstall CS3
Disable TWAIN driver
Downloaded & installed latest NVidia video card drivers.
Noticed the following message in PSErrorLog.txt every time Photoshop CS3 is launched, "2013:10:31 09:41:33 : ..\..\sources\OWLPanelManager.cpp : 1602 : REQUIRE failed" Downloaded & installed AdobeOwl.dll for this reason, but without success.
ALM.log prinout indicates that several steps failed, but I do not know whether this is a problem or how it might be resolved:

Any suggestions to resolve this dilemma are appreciated.I managed to resolve the Photoshop CS3 initialization error by reinstalling Windows 7 Pro 64-bit from scratch. This took a lot of time, but it amounted to less effort than I had spent troubleshooting the problem.

I have installed both Audition 3 and Photoshop CS3 on a laptop with no Internet connection. How may they be activated? The methods documented in the software don't work.
Ned, thanks for responding. Internet access is not the problem, I will have a tower computer connected to Comcast.
Isolating the laptop from the internet is the issue.

how do i buy adobe photoshop cs3 already installed on my computer? All it needs is activation. Thanks!
You would have to find some third party vendor and take your chances there. Adobe does not sell older versions of their software.

Photoshop CS3 Volume License Activation
Hey guys,
We are trying to activate Photoshop CS3 volume license we have but getting this message. How can we get it activated? This is a 43 user license we have, maybe 10 people here have it. We can't deactivate them because it's a volume license. We need Photoshop CS3 for Blu-ray authoring still, but have lots of people here on Creative Cloud 2014.
Is there still even a website to manage our CS3 volume license? I don't know of any way to do this. Adobe Creative Cloud phone support weren't able to help. The alternative activation via phone, when I called, just said to go to http://www.adobe.com/go/activation, which wasn't any help since AT ALL.I have the following link to offer but I do not know if it leads to a solution for you...

Photoshop CS3 activation problems
Does anyone know how to activate Photoshop CS3 on win8.1, everything i try fails, i have internet, the activate over the phone say it know longer supports activation and tells me to go to a website that is not available. HELP!
You may need to find Adobe's phone number on the web site, starting with clicking the red icon at the top of this page.
Chances are you'll need to run Photoshop CS3 As Administrator, at least to get started.
Photoshop CS3 can activate just fine on Windows 8.1. I have a copy installed and running.

Activation Help Please? [Photoshop CS3]
When I try to register my Photoshop CS3 Extended via internet connection, it says 'Activation - No Connection', even though it's plugged into the internet. How do I fix this?
actually, make sure your firewall isn't blocking the program, that may be the issue.

Due to the crash of the PC, I have to install the license of Photoshop CS3 on to a different computer. Unfortunately, the on-ine activation seems not to be more available. I have a valid license and I need to use my CS3. How can this trouble be fixed ?

Hi my Photoshop CS3 serial # doesn't work and i was told to ask for help here.
RobinWhile I understand your frustration, I still can't discern from you whether you're simply unable to activate your product, or it's repeatedly asking you to reactivate it, which ends up succeeding.
There is no way they should be sending you here for the former problem, where presumably you've used up all your activations.
If you have the latter problem, perhaps you could confirm just what's going wrong (and how it's going wrong)?
They have NOT "closed the server" for Photoshop CS3 as far as I know.

Photoshop CS3 Vista 64bit Activation
Im trying to activate my photoshop CS3 (came in a box) and when I try to activate it online it fails epically and tells me error code 194:13 and when I try to do the phone activation, it tells me that my activation number is incorrect, any ideas?
194:13 is a rather high number that is not covered under "for technical reasons", so chances are good you have fallen victim to pirated software... Well, anyway, only phone support can help you with such stuff.

Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended Activation Problem
Hi all, hoping someone can help me.
I have a legitimate hard copy of Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended which was only recently taken out of its sealed package.
On installing and trying to activate I get an error. Now i am left with a window telling me "Registration Unsuccessful"
Any ideas how i can go about solving this? I legally own this copy and I need to use it and can't do with it deactivating.
Thanks in advance for any help given. It's very much appreciated!Mordynak I am sorry but I find no software titles registered under the Adobe ID/e-mail address you used to post to this forum. From this discussion it sounds like you have already utilized the process listed in Find your serial number quickly.
Please contact our support team directly at Contact Customer Care. If this link still fails then I would recommend utilizing a different web browser as the current add-ons, security settings, add-ons may be preventing a chat session from being made available to you.
If you continue to face difficulties then please update this discussion. -
Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended freezes on startup under Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit - No splash screen
I installed my licensed copy of Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended today as part of my install a bunch of software after a reinstall of Windows (due to viruses). I did a completely fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I've used Photoshop CS3 Extended for quite a while now so I know what to expect on startup but it was previously installed under Windows XP Professional (32-bit). Figured I would give Windows 7 a chance this time around.
Google searches aren't turning up anything. When I attempt to start the application, I get a window with the title "Adobe Photoshop CS3" (no "Extended" - I seem to recall the title changes later) and the toolbar appears. However, no splash screen appears and no Product Activation wizard appears - the application simply freezes on an empty frame and a toolbar. I've tried running Photoshop as Administrator (right-click, "Run As Administrator"), but nothing changed there. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I tried upgrading to CS3 10.0.1. Nothing works. The application simply freezes before it gets anywhere.
I tried calling Adobe Support since this technically falls under installation issues but their phone support systems are down today. Go figure.
Edit: I hooked into Photoshop with the Visual Studio debugger and every single thread is executing some variation of WaitForSingleObject() or WaitForMultipleObjects(). The main thread is "executing" somewhere in AdobeLM_libFNP.dll (at address 09619d81 - if I had debugging symbols for CS3, I could provide a function). There are nine threads "running" at the point the freeze occurs - but all of them are technically suspended due to the functions they are executing - and one thread is in a suspended state.Log Name: Application

And, according to the Event Viewer, the "Binary" data translates to a zero-terminated Unicode string of "Cross-thread".
My Visual Studio analysis was far more informative. All threads are hung inside of WaitForSingleObject() and WaitForMultipleObjects() calls and the DLL in question appears to be FlexNet-related. I did forget to mention that I also even manually started the FlexNet service in case, for some strange reason, Photoshop was waiting for it to start. That also did not work.
(And there is nothing in the Action Center control panel either despite the message saying there might be more information there.)
Edit: The timestamp above might be a little odd-looking. I didn't originally see anything in Event Viewer until I clicked the first button to send an Error Report. Mostly I just skipped that part of killing a process. -
How do you do dual boot without Dual activation for CS3?
I know this has been discussed but I can't find the post called Daryl Pritchard, "Activating CS3 with both Vista and XP Pro on same system" #3, 21 May 2007 12:49 am . That link seems to be dead.
I'm slow to make the switch, but I'm planning to install Vista on the same box I've had XP Pro on. I have a LOT of software on this box (it normally takes 34 hours to install everything from scratch) including VIsual Studio (2003, 2005, 2008), Lotus Notes designer (R6.5, R8), 3D Studio Max, etc. etc. etc. I'm not ready to flip the switch and just run the Vista upgrade. I want to dual boot with XP on one partition and Vista on the other, so that I can boot to XP if something doesn't seem to be running correctly under Vista.
Here is my dilemna. I also have Photoshop CS3 installed on my laptop, and I need it there because I travel every few weeks and still have to manipulate images. I'd like to avoid deactivating licenses everytime I get on a plane or drive across town. I don't want to have to use up both of my "activations" when I'm staying within the intent of the Eula - it's only going to be used on one machine.
How has everyone else faced this challenge? I know there are plenty of people with dual boot set ups.
I'll deactivate Photoshop on XP Pro if I have to, but that's going to be a headache if I have to turn on the laptop everytime I work in XP on the desktop and need to modify a PSD image.I believe you can only deactivate/activate 20 times, precisely to keep
people from swapping the two licenses amongst more than 2 computers, so
deactivating on your travel-computer will only work for the next few times
you do it.
Depending on what things you do to your images, you might be able to get by
with using Elements to work with the PSDs. The newer versions of Elements
lets you work with Layers so it may be ok. Install the PSE trial and see
how well it works.
If you must have Photoshop, and one copy needs to be on your laptop, then
you must choose dual-boot you want to use it on, and perhaps install the
trial on the other bootable partition and if it works fine for everything,
and at the end of 30-days, choose which one to keep activated, or decide
that you can upgrade your XP. I think you should attempt to upgrade it,
anyway, just to see if it's even possible. I think you can uninstall the
upgrade if you do it right away, and get back to your XP...I had to do that
when my graphics card refused to work, even though the Vista Upgrade Advisor
didn't complain. Installing Vista from scratch seemed to work. I just
bought a new HD and reinstalled everything.
Another thing to consider is that Windows 7 will be available for retail
purchase before Halloween and people like it better than Vista as far as
running things faster, so maybe just skip Vista. The only glitch I had was
having to uninstall Nero's packet-writing (CDRW as a floppy) software after
I upgraded to Vista and it didn't quite work and I had to use a Nero-clean
utility to get rid of it. It isn't compatible with Win7 and I could have
gotten around the problem by merely uninstalling Nero before upgrading and
putting it back, afterwards. I have an older version of Nero was my actual
problem.
I am running the Win 7 Ultimate RTM from my MSDN subscription and like it a
lot...more transparency and they finally combined the quick-links with the
actual task-bar so you can just pin things down there and they are
highlighted if they're running or not highlighted if not--sort of like a Mac
has been doing for a while, but with much smaller icons if you want. -
Photoshop CS3 crashes all the time - Please help!
Hello
I didn't find any answer in the forum.
I work with Photoshop CS3 Version 10.0.1. on Mac Powerbook 10.4.11.
Photoshop quits all the time, no work possible anymore. It quits when I want to open a file or when I want to safe an new file (message PS unexpectedly quite).
The trouble (maybe - actually I am not sure) may started after I updated all Adobe program. There were some messages popping up that not everything was updated properly.
Anyway I reinstalled Photoshop 3 times and CS3 completely 2 times and the last time I run the clean up program as well. No change.
Please help! Thank you very much.
RosaRosa,
>So, you are also suggesting that I don't upgrade but install new.
NEVER, ever use the "upgrade" option.
Rather, do an "Archive and Install".
>What do I have to take care of beside of making a backup from everything?
Routine maintenance is imperative.
I still advocate Repairing Permissions (with Apple's Disk Utility) before AND after any system update or upgrade, as well as before AND after installing any software that requires an installer that asks for your password.
I have seen software installations go sour because the installer did not find everything as and where it should be.
I have also seen software installations go bad because the installer did not clean up after itself properly and did not leave everything as and where it should be.
This is just my own personal opinion and practice based on my own observations. Others may disagree and that's OK. I can only base my routines and my advice to others on my own experience and conclusion. I don't pretend to know why others believe otherwise.
Repairing Permissions after the fact (i. e. not immediately before and after an install) seldom helps.; Try it anyway, though.

Additionally, if your machine does not run 24/7 so that it runs the daily, weekly and monthly Cron Scripts in the middle of the night as intended by Apple, run Cocktail (shareware) as well.
Cron Scripts are maintenance routines designed by Apple to run on a daily, weekly and monthly basis in the middle of the night.
If you don't run them, you WILL run into trouble, sooner rather than later.
Here's an excerpt from the Apple tech doc
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107388
Mac OS X performs background maintenance tasks at certain times if the computer is not in sleep mode. If your computer is shut down or in sleep at the designated times, the maintenance does not occur. In that case, you may want or need to run these manually.
Mac OS X periodically runs background tasks that, in part, remove system files that are no longer needed. This includes purging older information from log files or deleting certain temporary items. These tasks do not run if the computer is shut down or in sleep mode. If the tasks do not run, it is possible that certain log files (such as system.log) may become very large.

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106978
The disk activity generated by find is a normal part of file system maintenance, used for tasks such as removing invisible temporary files that are used by the system. It is scheduled to occur early in the morning at 03:15 everyday, 04:30 on Saturdays, and 05:30 on the first day of each month.
NOTE:
There have been comments to the effect that Apple "fixed" this in 10.4.2 and later versions of the OS, but I have not been able to verify this to my satisfaction. The reference in the 10.4.2 release notes are far from explicit on this subject.

If you have DiskWarrior, run it regularly too.
