But it is easier to create one or more playlists and sync by selected playlists. You can have some playlists for both phones and others for just one phone.

I have my current iPhone backed up onto iCloud but it also has my old iPhone on there as well. My new phone has all the data from my old iPhone on, so can I delete the old iPhone from the iCloud as its taking up memory? Thank you

I have my iPhone 4 and my new iPhone 5 on my iCloud storage. It's now nearly full as it still has my old phone on it.
If I delete the phone from iCloud memory it won't delete the data from me new phone that was originally backed up from the old phone
Via the cloud?

Of course. If you don't need your old phone's backup, you can remove it. Open Settings > iCloud > Storage and Backup > Manage Storage, select the old device backup and delete it.
The new iPhone backup won't be deleted and you will keep everything on the new phone

IPhone 4 - want to use on laptop, but set up on desktop - ????

Hello all -
Moving this Friday and needing to switch from using my desktop to my laptop (desktop going into storage for 6 months+). I have my iPhone 4 set up on the desktop, but will need it to be able to update/etc. from the laptop.
WHAT DO I DO?
Obviously disable the auto-sync in itunes on the laptop before plugging phone in..but how do i make sure my laptop itunes has all the same info as the desktop itunes (music, podcasts and most importantly, PHONE INFO, apps, contacts, etc.etc.)?? Is there a function that will put all the phone info into the laptop itunes instead of the other way around??
this may not matter, but going from win7 on desktop to winvista on laptop...any issues there?

You need to transfer your iTunes library from your Desktop to your laptop per the simple instructions included with this link.

You will also need to authorize your laptop with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so.
Transferring your iTunes library per the instructions included with the link provided should prevent any iTunes content on your iPhone from being erased with the first sync with iTunes on your laptop.
Contacts are designed to be synced with a supported address book app on your computer. If you aren't syncing contacts with a supported address book application on your computer and/or your contacts are not available on your computer which can be a big mistake in the event your iPhone or any cell phone is lost or stolen, your iPhone contacts are not touched when syncing. The same for calendar events and notes if this data is not being synced with a supported application on your computer.
Photos on your iPhone that were transferred from your Desktop will be erased from your iPhone when transferring any photos from your laptop to your iPhone, so if you want these photos available on your laptop and remain on your iPhone, you will need to transfer the photos from your Desktop to your laptop along with any other important data that you will need or want to access on your laptop.

Old computer crashed - have iPhone 4, want to update to iOS5, but need help.

I'm hoping someone can help me. My old computer crashed, and had to get a new one. I lost my iTunes, and didn't have a back-up. The only place I have the data is on the phone itself. I had to re-install iTunes on my new computer, and I want to update to iOS5, but I'm worried I'll lose everything on my iPhone, as I don't have a back-up. How do I take the data (pictures, contacts, email, etc.) from my phone and put it on my computer, so I can update to iOS5, and have a back-up in case I lose it? I already transferred the purchases, so I have all of my apps on my new iTunes, but I don't want to lose any other data. I have Windows XP and an iPhone 4.

I made my own apple id because my family was getting my texts from other people. I want to add my device to my dads find my iphone app on his icloud but can't figure out how, without having to log in to his apple id on my phone. how do i add my device?

I made my own Apple ID because when I was logged into my dad's my family was receiving my texts from other people. I want to add my device to my dad's "find my iphone" app but without signing into his Apple ID on my phone because that was causing them to get my texts. I was told by Apple I could add my device to his by signing into icloud.com but there is no option that I can find to add my device. And I don't want to log back in to his.. Any ideas???

Also when I apply the safety copy it only imports the app the phones have had in common, so none of the apps that only the iPhone 4 had doesn't come in, only the ones I and the iPhone 4 has had in common. So you say the only way I can use the Apple ID to download on the old iPhone 4 is if I delete the apps that are in the phone and then download them again? How will that change the ID to download/update from. Won't it still have mine to update/download from?

Lost Mode can be stopped via iCloud.com, as detailed below.
Stop Lost Mode or change your contact info
Sign in to icloud.com/#find with your Apple ID (the one you use with iCloud).If you’re using another iCloud app, click the app’s name at the top of the iCloud.com window, then click Find My iPhone.
Click All Devices, then select the device that’s in Lost Mode.
Click Lost Mode, then change the information or click Stop Lost Mode.

I restored my new phone from an earlier date than my niece's baptism. I don't know if I should have restored or set up as a new phone. But my problem now is that I really want those pictures. I had icloud on that phone and the new one. Can anyone help me or tell me if I can get those pictures back. When I log into my itunes account on my computer it still shows the other phone as a device but I only see where you can remove that device. Thank you need to take a class on all this new technology.

Like a digital camera, you should be syncing your photos from iphone to a computer often. If you have been doing that, you should find the photos on the computer.
If you had been backing up you iphone to icloud, then you could restore the backup, but many users have complained here that they lost all their photos when doing a restore, none seem to have been in the backup. Since your new phone is new, then try doing a restore (you should have done that when you first set up the new phone - if you did and the photos did not come back, then they are lost).

Follow these instructions to remotely remove Find My iPhone from your device:
Make sure the device is powered on and connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network. Then follow these steps:
Sign in to iCloud account at www.icloud.com/find.
Click All Devices to open a list of devices linked to your account, then select the device to be removed.
Click the Erase button to erase all content and settings from the device. When prompted, don't enter a phone number or message. Click Next until the device is erased.
When the erase is complete, click "Remove from Account" to remove the device from the account.
After the device is erased and removed from the account, you can proceed with the device setup process.

I can sign into iCloud but can't remember the answers to my security questions and the link for a password reset it my old work email and I don't work there any more and don't want to contact them!! Help.

At some stage is is likely to have been connected to another computer's iTunes. It is now linked to that computer's library and iPhones can only be associated to one library at a time. Linking to a different one requires wiping the phone.
If you used the phone with another computer you owned you can transfer the iTunes library from that computer to this one and the phone will still be syncing with the same library it was before.
If all there is on the phone are items which can be backed up to iTunes and purchases which can be transferred you could do that, then wipe the phone and sync them back.
