Active monitoring logs randomly clearing after CU5
After performing the Exchange 2013 update to CU5, we have been noticing that some of the active monitoring logs are randomly clearing. Specifically the Throttling Config, Responder Definition, Monitor Definition, Probe Definition, and Maintenance
Definition logs. The only correlation I can find is in the Startup Notification logs I see an event every time the logs are cleared starting the Local endpoint manager. I looked back prior to CU5 and this event occurred infrequently, and accompanied by a handful
of other startup events, now it seems to be running by itself intermittently. It isn't happening at any consistent time or date range. Sometimes we will have 2 in one day, other times it will wait 2 or 3 days to clear. Default behavior even if the log
is full would be to overwrite old logs rather than perform a log clear, but I'm looking at the log and even after a full days worth there's barely 100 events in any given log. I reviewed the logs and there's no indication of trouble, no
errors or warnings. Is anyone else seeing this behavior on exchange?
Hi Theantioch,
From the release notification of Exchange Server 2013 CU5, CU5 includes a Managed Availability probe configuration that is frequently restarting the Microsoft Exchange Shared Cache Service in some environments. The service is being added to provide
future performance improvements and is not used in Cumulative Update 5. More information is available in
KB2971467. As of Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 5, this notice and the frequent restarts of the managed availability process are
considered not to be a concern. Our issue could be related to the frequent restart. And we can safely ignore the problem. Thanks for your understanding.

Activity Monitor won't run after leopard install
The only problem i'm having is that when i try and load Activity Monitor it bounces once and crashes. No amount of relaunches and reset/relaunches fixes the problem.
Any ideas? I've also tried launching the old tiger version of Activity Monitor that is on one of my SuperDuper backup external drives, but no luck.
Thanks,
ConradI apologize for the poor formatting. I did a filter for Activity and found these references to the crash. It looks like i'm missing a framework required for displaying the graphs that activity monitor uses. Any advice on how to go about replacing that?
Thanks

Activity Monitor doesn't start after upgrade to 10.4.6
Had quite a few challenges with the upgrade to 10.4.6
All Applications were moved to the Desktop and with the help of the Apple hotline I moved them all back in the correct location.
Challenge now is that the Activity Monitor does not start up anymore
When I check the Console itcomes back with
2006-05-06 17:36:28.950 Activity Monitor[206] The tool is not setuid root - please repair the privileges
Anyone who can help here or do I need to open another ticket with Apple?

My external monitor flashes random colors after waking up from sleep?
Whenever I wake up my Mac Mini, the monitor flashes thru many different colors..... red, blue, greeen..... maybe some other ones. Sometimes it does this for a few seconds and then gets to the log in screeen and sometimes it does if for 30 seconds or longer. I have a Samsung Monitor hooked up via HDMI cable. I have had this computer for close to a year and it only started doing this over the last month. Once I can log in I don't seem to have any performance issues, I'm just woried it will get worse over time..... Maybe never stop flashing.
Hi, installed any software/updates in the last month?
I wonder if it's a variation of this, of which I've seen many different symptoms...
Resolution
Move the mouse or trackpad cursor over the center area of the login window so you can see the user icons. Click on the icon of the user that you would like to login as, type in the user's password, and press Return.
If the login window is configured to show only the name and password fields, type in the user's name and password into the fields, and press Return (even if you cannot see the rest of the login window).
Additional Information
This issue will not occur if the display is not sleeping when the account is logged out. Use the steps below to confirm that the account is not configured to log out automatically while the display is sleeping:
Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. Click the padlock to unlock the preference pane and enter your admin password. Click the Advanced button at the bottom, then see if the option "Log out after N minutes of inactivity" (where N is the number of minutes) is enabled.
Open System Preferences > Energy Saver and configure Display Sleep to occur after the account is logged out, by dragging the slider to a number of minutes that is greater than N was set to in the previous step.
Important: If automatic log out is not needed, disable "Log out after Nminutes of inactivity" in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. This will also prevent the issue.

ODS Activation queue not getting cleared after activation
Dear Experts,
I have a strange situation in my BI 7.0 system. Within one ODS I have an activation queue (new data table) of around 34Gb in size. As far as I know, this table should be empty, because all requests are activated correctly.
Every night a delta is loaded into the ODS and there are no errors. But still the data remains also in the activation queue.
In fact: All requests since the initialization still reside in the activation queue.
My question is: Can I savely delete all data from the activation queue?
It is only occuring for one ODS, all other ODS'es do clear the activation queue succesfully.
Here is a part of the log for the last delta load, which might lead to the actual problem:

Thanks,
Steven GrootDear Experts,
Finally I got some input from SAP about this issue, which resolved the error.
Within the table RSODSACTREQ, there was an entry with an errorstatus. This entry was the cause of the activation queuenot being deleted.
As quoted by SAP in response to my OSS Message:
The RSODSACTREQ table records requests which have been activated.
However, sometimes this table can contain requests which have actually
already been deleted.
The timestamp for this request (REQU_ELCCK3YPESODU19NXQH9BQZ70) is the
19th of Feb 07, yet there is no such request in the ODS (first request
is the 20.02.2007).
Such a request, which has an entry in RSODSACTREQ with status "2"
will prevent deletion of the new data table.
If the request does not exist anymore in the change log table and there
is no data for the request in the active table, then you can resolve
this inconsistency by deleting the entries for this request from table
RSODSACTREQ, and then the activation queue will be truncated with the
next successful activation.
Maybe you can use this information if it is applicable to your situation as well.

Steven Groot -

My activity monitor show random and fluctuating CPU usage at the Dock site with absolutelyno programs running. %'s fluctuate between 3 - 20 and they pretty much come and go. What might be causing this?
There's a lot of background processes running that aren't documented as Apps as such. And some of them are the Time Machine backups, Spotlight searches, all kinds of small little bits of maintenance caches, there's a lot going on. So it's not completely out of the question that this is 'normal' for a Mac. If it were 50% or more I would be concerned but if it spikes up to 20% for a second or two you are probably not in any trouble of any kind.

Trying to update adobe flash, keep getting 'quit dashboard client'. Everytime I try to, it pops back up. Even after going to activity monitor and force quitting. What is it and how can I quit it so I can install this update??
Restart the computer from Apple menu.
When restart dialog box appears, uncheck the box beside
"Reopen windows when logging back in". -
Random Problem: Mail Process 140% in Activity Monitor/1 IMAP Account
Hello,
A friend of mine is having some problems with his Mail Account. As stated in the title, the Mail process uses 140% of the CPU as shown in Activity Monitor, but it's a random error, it doesn't happen all the time. I believe he restarts the application to make it go away, as it slows down his computer, and the fan starts making a lot of noise.
He has:
OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.4
Mail 6.5 (1508)/No plugin
1 IMAP account
A few thousand emails between the inbox, sent and a few folders
There isn't any problem with the mail server.
I've checked his account parameters, they seem fine.
He can send/receive emails (He told me so, and I've checked by sending a mail from his account to his account).
Here are some lines from the log files:

He seems to have the latest version of Mail, so we can't update it, and he doesn't want to properly uninstall/reinstall the Mail program.
Please, if you have any idea on what we could do.
Thank you for your help.Step 1
Take this step only if you have more than one incoming mail account, and only some of them are affected by the problem.
From the Mail menu bar, select
Mail ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts
From the account list on the left, choose one of the accounts that is not giving trouble. Select the Account Informationtab if not already selected, and then uncheck the box marked
Enable this account
Repeat with each of the other well-behaved accounts. Don't disable the problem accounts.
Step 2
From the Mail menu bar, select
Window ▹ Connection Doctor
Click the Show Detail button. A drawer opens. Click Check Again and post the text that appears. Anonymize any personal information before posting.
Step 3
If you took Step 1, re-enable the disabled accounts. -
How do I uninstall SyncMate Server, Activity Monitor shows it still there after appzapper uninstall of SyncMate app? Killing in AM proceeds with a SyncMate Server startup again??
Mavricks, MacbookPro, typical config of everything and standard business user, no heavy graphics, animation or media editing. MS Office, web apps, etc.
I have the same issue with Logmein, which I installed a trial, uninstalled with appzapper, which I thought does a good job of untangling the components of apps but for these 2 it doesn't. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thx,Usually applications like these have their own uninstallers, either build into the installer ( ! ) itself or as a separate uninstaller app. Check the site of the software provider for instructions.

After launching Adobe CC many processes show as (Not Responding) in Activity Monitor
I'm running Adobe CC on a new Apple MacPro 6,1 (12-core with 64GB RAM). I find that many processes get into a (Not Responding) state as displayed by Activity Monitor.
Typically, when one sees a process (Not Responding) there's really not much that can be done other than using Activity Monitor to Quit or Force Quit the process. I've done this but the (Not Rsponding) processes even after being Quit/terminated, get relaunched with a different PID and will go into the (Not Responding) state almost immediately.
Here's a typical situation I captured today. In this example it's the Qmaster process.
This is becoming very annoying. However, I'm not sure what the implications of these (Not Responding) processes are. They do hold onto memory resouces but obviously aren't consuming/stealing CPU cycles. The Adobe CC does however become sluggish, so I'm thinking there's definitely a problem/bug here that Adobe needs to resolve.
Any insights or help resolving this issue is most welcomed. Thank you.
Is the Apple's Mavericks "App Nap" feature somehow involved with this I wonder ? I do have that box unchecked in Energy Saver preferences.

Problem after 10.6.6 update! MDS running from the start on activity monitor
Hello,
I have a iMac late 2009 and yesteday <unfortunately> I did the update 10.6.6! Before everything was working great cause I care the system with clean my iMac and other applications everyday and mostly I use recording programs like Pro Tools. After update the restart came and iMac's CPU was jumping at 20-30% without touching anything! I saw on Activity Monitor and <mds> was running! I want to ask what is that and how I can remove it and not running all the time. I close it from Activity Monitor every time the system starts but I want to remove it and don't see it as it wasn't before! After reading other topics, I did verify and repair permissions from Disk Utility and Mac Osx disc but mds starts when system boot. This problem started happening to me on both my iMacs as well. I have a brand new 27" 3.06 Core2Duo which started to experience boot and shutdown problems after running the 10.6.6 update. My 21.5 3.06 Core2Duo (have had for just over a year) is suffering quite a bit more. My 21.5" iMac has Bootcamp installed, as mentioned in this thread and at the following thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12968046#12968046
I had noticed extremely sluggish behavior and many cases of the spinning wheel of lost hope. I run MenuMeters, so noticed a higher than usual CPU utilization - looking into Activity Monitor, mds was taking between 30% and 50% of my CPU.... ordinarily that shouldn't be a problem, but since that is Spotlight's indexer, I imagine there was IO contention. I plan on removing Bootcamp this weekend (don't really use it anymore thanks to Parallels 6).
Additionally, I have experienced horrible WiFi performance on both iMacs since updating. I have seen a few mentions on the Internet about this, but no real official acknowledgement. My icon in the Menubar indicates that the connection is still solid, however, I'm unable to resolve websites, etc. I assume that it is losing its connection momentarily to my router, and not reresolving with DHCP upon reconnect. This problem seems to be pretty repeatable when I use Fast User Switching... Anyone else having this problem? I have ruled out my router, as my Windows box and Linux laptops have zero issues. I hope Apple is resolving this issue -- making me eat my words when I told my wife that we HAD to go Mac since its so much more reliable!

After uploading to 10.9.1 how to I determine memory remaining? It was easy previously in activity monitor.
I see what you mean. I've not been able to discpher that either. I use a Free Memory app that I can use to free up memory from time to time and when Free Memeory gives me 3.42 free Activity Monitor gives me this:
However, since Mavericks dymanically handles the memory the only thing I watch are page outs. If I begin getting page outs then I'm pushing my memory limits and using virtual memory.
