  • Is there a "remember me" feature for the communities?

    It is very displeasing and irksome to have to login almost every time I come to the communities.
    Virtually all decent forums on the Planet Web have a "Remember Me" feature, I wonder why these communities have not had this spirit here since 1969?
    Please implement!
    Thanks in advance.

    I hope that you are just a random apologist and not an official representative from Apple, because your response does not make sense whatsoever.
    There are thousands of services, from Gmail and Yahoo! Mail, to Amazon and eBay, to Facebook and Twitter, from GitHub to BitBucket, that are very secure and are used by millions of people everyday that have implemented one or another form of Remember Me without any problems.
    This fact by itself is enough to prove that your argument does not make sense, but I will continue.
    This is a missing feature. And it is causing poor user experience. There is no good in finding lame excuses for fanboyishly defending and justifying missing features and problems in Apple products and services.
    Somehow those of us using the forums can manage to login without complaining.
    Somehow you don't have any other options, because like it or not, Remember Me is not implemented here, so if you need to ask something here you have to live with this, but that shouldn't stop you from asking for this feature to be implemented. After all, if you are concerned with the security implications of "Remember Me", you don't have to use it.
    If it's that displeasing and irksome, then you are free to stop coming here.
    You must surely have won quite a few Nobel prizes in the field of Logic and Deduction. This is the official forum for Apple products and services, so unfortunately many of us have to cope with its issues when we want to ask something on Apple's official forums.
    Tell Apple  feedback
    No one here really cares if you can't manage to simply log into a secure site as thousands of others do. This is not Facebook or Twitter (thank god). So complain to Apple not us. We can't help you.

  • Online Help does not have "Customizing the Login Portlet" as claimed by Conf Guide

    Hello
    Portal 309 configuration guide claims that you can include a self-registration link in your customized login portlet. However, this does not exist in online help.
    Does anybody know what is the link which I can use in m customized login portlet?
    Thanks

    Here is the topic:
    Installing and configuring the self-registration feature
    You can enable users to create their own portal user accounts. However, first you must install the self-registration feature.
    To install and configure the self-registration feature:
    1.Start SQL*Plus and login to the database in which the Login Server is installed.
    2.Create a schema. This schema will be used for accessing user administration objects on the Login Server. From now
    on in this task we will refer to this as the user administration access schema.
    3.In the user administration access schema, create a synonym for the Login Server SSO schema package
    wwsso_api_user_admin. This synonym must be called wwsso_api_user_admin.
    4.Grant Execute privileges on the wwsso_api_user_admin package in the Login Server SSO schema to the user
    administration access schema.
    5.If Oracle Portal and the Login Server are installed in different databases:
    a.In the user administration access schema, create a synonym for the Login Server SSO schema package
    wwctx_api_vpd package. This synonym must be called wwctx_api_vpd.
    b.Grant Execute privileges on the wwctx_api_vpd package in the Login Server SSO schema to the user
    administration access schema.
    c.In the schema in which Oracle Portal is installed, create a database link to connect to the user administration
    access schema.
    6.Start a command line prompt.
    7.Change to the portal30/admin/plsql directory of the directory in which Oracle Portal is installed.
    8.Enter the following command:
    UNIX:
    selfreg.csh -s <portal_schema> -p <portal_password> -ua <sso_uadmin_schema> -c
    <portal_connect_string> -dblink <sso_uadmin_dblink>
    NT:
    selfreg.cmd -s <portal_schema> -p <portal_password> -ua <sso_uadmin_schema> -c
    <portal_connect_string> -dblink <sso_uadmin_dblink>
    where:
    portal_schema
    is the database schema in which Oracle Portal is installed.
    Default: PORTAL30
    portal_password
    is the password for the above schema.
    Default: <portal_schema>
    sso_uadmin_schema
    is the user administration access database schema you created in step 1.
    Default: <portal_schema>SSOUA
    Note: You do not need to provide a value for this parameter if you specify a database
    link for the dblink parameter.
    portal_connect_string
    is the connect string for the database in which Oracle Portal is installed.
    Note: You need to provide the connect string only if you are running the script on a
    different database.
    sso_uadmin_dblink
    is the name of the database link created in step 4c.
    Note: You need to provide the database link only if the Login Server is installed in a
    different database instance from the Oracle Portal installation. If you do not provide a
    value for this parameter, it is assumed that the user administration access schema is
    in the same database instance as Oracle Portal.
    For example:
    selfreg.csh -s myportal -p myportal -ua myportal_sso_ua -c orcl -dblink uadmin_link
    9.Press the Enter or Return key.
    10.Start Oracle Portal
    11.In the Services portlet, click Global Settings. By default, the Services portlet is located on the Oracle Portal home
    page's Administer tab.
    12.In the Self-Registration Options section, select Enable Users To Log On Immediately if you want users to be able to
    log on to Oracle Portal immediately after they create their own user account using the self-registration feature.
    Note: If you do not select this check box, you will need to assign the user as an authorized user before he or she is able
    to log on.
    13.To expose the self-registration feature to users, you can customize the Login portlet to include a self-registration link.

  • Remember Me Feature

    Hi all,
    I have to add a remember me feature for user to login next time they visit the site. Can some one please direct me to some sample code.
    Thanks

    In particular create a cookie using the javax.servlet.http.Cookie class and add it to the response using ServletResponse.addCookie(String name, String value). You can later retrieve it from a ServletRequest using ServletRequest.getCookies() method.
    Example:
    Setting a cookie:
    public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
        throws IOException, ServletException
            Cookie cookie = new Cookie("username", "foo");
            cookie.setMaxAge(2592000); // 30 days
            response.addCookie(cookie);
        }To retrieve your cookie:
    public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
        throws IOException, ServletException
            Cookie[] cookies = request.getCookies();
            for (int i = 0; i < cookies.length; i++) {
                if (cookie.getName().equals("username") {
    String value = cookies[i].getValue();
    HTH.

  • I cannot set up the remember history feature in privacy settings

    I cannot set up the remember history feature in privacy settings

    Choosing the "Use custom settings for history" setting doesn't make any changes to history and cookie settings.<br />
    If Firefox shows the "Use custom settings for history" setting then that is an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings are not the default to make you aware that changes were made.<br />
    If all History settings are default then you see "Firefox will: (Never) Remember History" and the custom settings are hidden.<br />

  • Built-in login portlet

    Hi,
    My requirement is i need to develop a login portlet. It should store user preferences for each user. Do we have any built-in portlets. If it is there pls. give me the URL
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

    Hi Hari,
    I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for, but there is a built-in Login portlet shipped with Portal 3.0.9. (maybe even with 3.0.8). http://portalstudio.oracle.com/help/sbslgnwh.htm http://portalstudio.oracle.com/help/sbslgncu.htm

  • How to create a login portlet?

    anyone can tell me how to create a login portlet?
    I'm created a JSR286 portlet use "weblogic.security.services.Authentication",that can login only in the portlet application.The portal can't Authentication.

    Hi.
    Portlets are consumed via WSRP 2.0 (Remotelly).
    I recommend you create an ADF Task Flow for your login process of your Portal instead of a Portlet.
    Regards.

  • "Remember me"/"Stay logged in" feature at login page

    Hi,
    I have a login page and I want there an option like "Remember me" so that a user doesn't have to enter user name and password everytime he wants to access the website. We are Developing with Jdev PS4.
    Login.java
    public void doLogin(ActionEvent actionEvent) {
       FacesContext ctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
       HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest) ctx.getExternalContext().getRequest();
       CallbackHandler handler = new URLCallbackHandler("my user", "my password");
       Subject mySubject = Authentication.login(handler);
       ServletAuthentication.runAs(mySubject, request);
       String loginUrl = "adfAuthentication?success_url=/faces/...";
       ctx.getExternalContext().redirect(loginUrl);
       ctx.responseComplete();
    }web.xml:
      <login-config>
        <auth-method>FORM</auth-method>
        <form-login-config>
          <form-login-page>/faces/myLogin.jspx</form-login-page>
          <form-error-page>/faces/welcome.jspx</form-error-page>
        </form-login-config>
      </login-config>I also started testing with a cookie after successfull login:
            final FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
            final ExternalContext externalContext = facesContext.getExternalContext();
            final HttpServletResponse response = (HttpServletResponse) externalContext.getResponse();
            final HttpSession session = (HttpSession) externalContext.getSession(false);
            //Extend session timeout
            session.setMaxInactiveInterval(REMEMBER_ME_TIMEOUT_IN_S);
            //Generate session ID
            final String sessionId = UUID.randomUUID().toString();
            //Create persistent cookie
            final Cookie cookie = new Cookie(REMEMBER_ME_ID_KEY, sessionId);
            cookie.setMaxAge(REMEMBER_ME_TIMEOUT_IN_S);
            cookie.setPath("/");
            //cookie.setSecure(true); //Only send when SSL ON
            response.addCookie(cookie);But now I have some questions how to continue:
    1. How to skip the login page when the user accesses the webpage? Use a HttpSessionListener or Filter to redirect? Can someone provide a snippet how to implement best?
    2. How to perform the user login, because I don't want to save the credentials in the cookie. How can I perform the login as shown above: CallbackHandler handler = new URLCallbackHandler("my user", "my password");
    Any hints/links or examples to help get me get started on adding such a feature. would be more than appreciated.
    Regards Markus

    Ok, now I have a working approach (as far as I can rate this for now).
    I use a PagePhaseListener to check if there is the persistent cookie with a unique ID. With the unique ID at server side I can restore the user credentials and perform a login.
    PagePhaseListener:
    public class RememberUserPagePhaseListener implements PagePhaseListener {
        private static final String LOGIN_URI = "/context/faces/login";
        @Override
        public void beforePhase(final PagePhaseEvent pagePhaseEvent)  {
            if (pagePhaseEvent.getPhaseId() == Lifecycle.PREPARE_MODEL_ID)   {
                final ExternalContext externalCtx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext();
             final HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest) externalCtx.getRequest();
             final String requestUri = request.getRequestURI();
             if (requestUri.startsWith(LOGIN_URI)) {
                  final boolean authenticated = ADFContext.getCurrent().getSecurityContext().isAuthenticated();
                     if (!authenticated) {
                       //Check if there is a cookie
                       final Cookie cookie = (Cookie) externalCtx .getRequestCookieMap().get("my.rememberme.cookie");
                       String cookieId = null;
                       if (cookie != null)
                               cookieId = cookie.getValue();
                           //With this cookie ID you can get stored user data from memory/database/... (see below)
                        //Also compare host if cookie is valid
                        //Then perform a normal login as seen in my first post
        @Override
        public void afterPhase(final PagePhaseEvent pagePhaseEvent) {
    }The PagePhaseListener must be registered in "adf-settings.xml". In JDev 11.1.1.4 there is an error for tag "adfc-controller-config", but it works. Seems to be a JDev Bug
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252" ?>
    <adf-settings xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/settings">
        <!-- Error in JDEV, he says this is not a valid tag but it works as expected -->

                </phase-listener>
            </lifecycle>
        </adfc-controller-config>
    </adf-settings>How to create a persistent cookie:
            final FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
            final ExternalContext externalContext = facesContext.getExternalContext();
            final HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest) externalContext.getRequest();
            final HttpServletResponse response = (HttpServletResponse) externalContext.getResponse();
            final String cookieId = UUID.randomUUID().toString();
            final Cookie cookie = new Cookie("my.rememberme.cookie", cookieId);
            cookie.setMaxAge(14 * 24 * 60 * 60);  //Two weeks
            cookie.setPath("/");
            //Remember username, password and remote host for this random cookie ID. This will be used in the PagePhaseListener
            final String remoteHost = request.getRemoteHost();
            ...Remember to delete the cookie if perform a logout (create the same cookie with max age of 0). Also you must schedule a job which will cleanup the map at some time for cookieIds which are created a long time ago.

  • Word opening in Client Application in SharePoint document library when feature is not activated in manage features in site collection

    Hello, I wish for all Word documents to open in the browser for my SharePoint document library on my team site.
    The feature 'open in client application' is not activated in Features for the site collection and the setting in the document library is set on 'Use the server default (open in the browser)
    When I select File > new> from the ribbon in the document library - it still opens Word in the client application?
    Any ideas on this?
    Is there a general Office 365 setting over riding SharePoint somewhere?
    Regards
    kegan1

    Okie don't open up a ticket. Can you please open internet explorer...See if its the latest version. Once you have done that can you login to the SharePoint site. Then go to the internet wheel option  in top right corner > select manage add on >
    Click on toolbars and extensions on left > then click on SharePoint open documents in client and disable it. Close the browser completely now for the changes to take effect. Open internet explorer once again and then try to go to site collection click on
    file and create new. The word will open up in browser now. This has to be done on each and every machine in your firm so that users will be able to open up only in browser. Out of the box there is only one way is to customize the ribbon and remove the new
    option from there or creating an all together new ribbon for your SharePoint from visual studio.
