Active screen corners do not always respond

Sometimes, maybe due too high CPU load, or switching displays my Active screen corners do not respond.... Hitting the F9-F12 buttons do active expose, but only after re-initializing the displays (put it in other refreshrate or so), my active screen corners start reponding...
Bug? Or am i missing something?

Well, that seems to be a genuine bug, coz i've got the same thing (also after disconnecting an external display and putting my Macbook to sleep).

  • Active Screen Corners stop working without complete restart

Since I installed Snow Leopard, I've noticed a problem with my active screen corners not working. I usually only completely restart once in a while, so I usually just shut the lid at night (or when I go anywhere). with 10.5, it used to be that active screen corners always worked when I did that, but since I installed Snow Leopard, active screen corners quit working. I have to completely restart to get them to start working again.
Is there a way to fix this, or is it a bug?
    Thanks.

I tested this with a few system applications, if it helps anybody.
It also might be interesting to note that in all cases where expose won't trigger, the dock won't unhide by holding the mouse at the bottom of the screen either so long as any of the non-working applications are selected.
List of applications that also have this problem on my system:
    Textedit
    Activity Monitor
    iChat
Calculator (Unlike the other applications, the active corners don't even work on this the first time)
List of applications tested that are NOT having this problem:
    iTunes
    Safari
    Terminal
    Mail
    Address Book
    Photo Booth
    QuickTime
    Automator.
Does anybody know if the applications that are not working have anything in common? Conversely, could anybody confirm that they are NOT experiencing this problem, and that it is specific to certain system configurations, or perhaps even my system?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kevin

  • Active screen corners suddenly quits for no reason

    Friends,
Active screen corners sometimes suddenly quits on me for no reason. I'm breezing along, doing my thing and periodically moving the mouse to one corner to "show desktop" or another to show "all windows." Suddenly, moving the mouse to the corner does nothing. I can't predict when this will occur. Restarting solves the problem.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Steve

Are you using an external monitor, but not all the time? I get the exact same behavior sometimes when I disconnect my MacBook Pro from my external monitor and then try to activate Expose using active screen corners. It simply doesn't work. However, if I restart, everything works just fine because Leopard recognizes my laptop screen as the primary display. Seems like a bug to me, but I'm not sure. I'd like to hear from others who may know more about the issue.

  • HT201407 Per the "Completing Authorized iPhone Unlock" instructions, I connected to iTunes to back up and restore so my iPhone can be unlocked! But after the restore my iPhone is stuck at the activation screen, it will not activate.

Received an authorized unlock code from apple/AT&T for my off-contract 3GS (8GB). Per the “Completing Authorized iPhone Unlock” instructions, I connected to iTunes to back up and restore so my iPhone can be unlocked! But after the restore my iPhone is stuck at the activation screen, it will not activate saying “Your iPhone cannot be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable”. I tried this again and again for countless times, no way! I have my old AT&T simcard and other carrier’s simcard. Both will not help. Please help me to activate and start using my phone.

    Hello,
I got like the same problem, last days I get message to restore my iPhone, so I did it yesterday and it work very well. In the afternoon I saw that at top in the left corner show invaild sim card or so (only knew the german version). so I restore it again but now it won`t activate after I enter SIM-PIN and it accept it, it shows "No Service".
Anybody can help? My Carrier is o2 Germany.
    Thanks!

  • "Active Screen Corners" no longer works. Why???

I have been using "Active Screen Corners," but it suddenly doesn't work. Keyboard shortcuts for it works, though.
    Anyone who knows why?

The 'Active Screen Corners' are written to the 'com.apple.dock.plist' file.
    /Users/yourhome/Library/Preferences/ com.apple.dock.plist
Move the file to your desktop and restart.
If that doesn't help, put the file back and restart again.
    Good luck,
    Tom

  • Exposé active screen corners - keyboard shortcuts disappear

I use e.g. the command key shortcut for activating the active screen corners (in order to avoid that they are activated when the mouse pointer is accidentally placed in one of the screen corners). It works fine and ...then one day the command key setting disappears from the settings. The active screen corners do continue to work, but simply by moving the pointer to a corner without pressing the command key. Very frustrating. What's wrong?

Simply go into System Preferences > Expose & Spaces.
Select the dropdown for the appropriate corner, press the keys you want (cmd alt ctrl & shift are possible.)
Then select the action and let go.

  • Hiding Active Screen Corners

A while back I somehow got my Mac to show which screen corners are Active Screen Corners (a small, translucent white curve appears in the active corners), and now I want them off. The problem is, I don't remember how I got them on there in the first place. I don't want to get rid of the Active Corners, only the little things that indicate them.

    Hey, gmprunner...
I don't know if you're still monitoring this topic, or if you figured it out, but I as I was reading another post about a "blue ball," and I saw information of about white "semi-circles" in the corners to indicate active corners. It and the "blue ball" are apparently hidden Dock features. Here's the entire link
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20031010141631859
but to summarize... this is the Terminal command to get rid of it.
defaults write com.apple.dock wvous-showcorners -bool false
    Then restart the Dock with
    killall Dock

  • Active Screen Corners Crashing

I don't know what's going on here, but it's super frustrating. I've set two screen corners for Expose & Spaces and they just up and stop working at random times. I've no idea what is causing this. Sometimes forcing the Finder to reboot fixes this, but not always. Sometimes restarting doesn't even fix it and I have to shut all the way down and restart.
Any ideas what's driving this behavior?

I have the same problem and the same frustration.
I have tried logging in as another user and it works o.k. The only thing is that this is an intermittent problem and logging back in as the real me fixes it too. I could spend the day as my guest user and wait for evidence that it fixed the problem but I have work to do.
The hot corners problem has been happening for months and I still can't see a pattern to what starts it. I usually restart my computer because I am lost without my hot corners. I miss them so much that I usually run Disk Warrior whenever this happens. Disk Warrior fixes most OS things. I really love it, even though doesn't seem like a lot for the money. The trouble is, when I fix this problem with DW it still keeps coming back. What stops the hot corners working in the first place?
    Where did my expose go?

  • Screen Saver will not always turn on

The screen saver doesn't always activate. If I go into system preferences and 'test' the screen saver, it will later turn on after the selected time (15 minutes). But I often come back to my IMac after several hours, and find that the screen saver has not turned on. I have clicked 'use random screen saver' and that is often unselected when I check it again.
I am the only on who uses this machine, and I have only the default screen savers, no add ins.
I have burned the itunes image in the screen after only 8 months of use. Very frustrating.
    Any ideas?

Try locating and deleting these two preference/plist files:
    ~(yourUserName)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    ~(yourUserName)/Library/Preferencescom.apple.preference.desktopscreeneffect.plis t

  • Screen backlight does not always turn on

Lately I've had trouble with my iPhone 4S backlight. The backlight does not always turn on when I wake the phone from sleep.
I've tried turning off the auto-brightness, but it does not help, the same behaviour continues. When the backlight is not on toggling the auto-brightness button or adjusting the brightness or covering the ambient light sensor have no effect, the backlight stays off. Usually it just randomly turns on after I put the device to sleep and wake it up. And no, my cover does not block the sensor either.
Has anyone else encountered the same problem? And what could I do to try to fix the situation? Should I try installing it as a new phone or is it possibly a hardware issue?

I've tried the restart and reset options, both turn the light on just after I've done them, but the same trouble can start when the device goes to sleep next. But, I guess I'll have to try the other two also.
And yes, I do have the latest software, though the problem originally started with the older software. Then it stopped for a while but now it came back and is more frequent.

  • Screen not always responding right when plugged in?

I notice occasionally my screen just goes crazy. I'll be touching in the middle and it ends up actually touching done (no where Near where anything was touching). At first I thought it was the Body Glove case I have, so I removed it.
This doesn't always happen either, which is strange. After using the phone for a while though, I've noticed it only has happened while plugged in (Just to the wall, I don't plug it into the computer because I'm at work). As soon as I unplugged it, I could enter the text I needed and it was fine.
Is this happening to anyone else? I'm trying to find out if it's a real issue, or if I maybe just have a defective phone.

This happened to me one day...but I had it plugged into the work computer to charge...as soon as I held my finger in it (like in imovie) the screen would start jittering...but as soon as I disconnected it, it would work fine. This is only at work (PC) but not at home (macbook pro). Not sure why that is though.

  • Delete key not always responding

Recently I installed RAM and when removing the keyboard I must of jarred the delete key because it is sluggish, only responding half the time I tap it.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
    iBook G4 1.33ghz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   1.25 gigs RAM

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
It's possible the key is bad. You can go to System Preferences>International>Input Menu and check "Keyboard Viewer" and "Show input menu in menu bar". This will install a little flag in the menu bar. You can click on it and on "show keyboard viewer" and it will highlight the keys as you type. If a key doesn't highlight, it likely doesn't work any more. I think you need to replace the entire keyboard, but you can do it yourself and it is not difficult. You should be able to get a replacement from Apple.
    Good luck!

  • Losing bits of data and touchscreen not always responding accurately Palm Tungsten E2

Odd malfunctions occurring in my 2.5 year old Tungsten E2 - not sure if they are related...
    1. I have started to lose contact information - in the last three days 2 client files that have disappeared.
    2. Occasionally receiving the message "your battery is low and you may lose data" except my battery is fully charged
    3. The touch screen is inaccurate - more and more often the scrolling feature does not work or will not give me the right contact. Cannot get the file or function I am choosing. Have tried soft booting and recalibrating the stylus to no avail.
I stopped into a retail store that carries Palm wondering if it was a battery issue, but they did not think so... also tried running the DbFixit program with no results.
    Thanks for any help!

With this issue, it will be 1 of 2 things. The software is corrupted on the device, or there is a hardware/multiple hardware issues on the device. Have you done a hard reset? This will remove all data from the device and bring it back to how you go it out of the box. With this I would start there. If you do not know how to do one go here.
