Active Sync and andrioid phone

I have a android phone that exchange email will not sync the hour glass just sits there and spins, I have removed the account several times same issue, I have turn off ActiveSync and enabled it back same issue try's to sync but all I get is a hour glass
that spins, same issue on a IPAD. Exchange 2013 server .

Please check if this issue affects all activesync users. If only one user is affected, please check if this user is in quarantine list.
And you can enable the ActiveSync Mailbox Logging and then check if there is any related information.

Help with Exchange 2007, Active Sync and iPhone 3g - software 2.0.2

Now that's said, is anyone else having 'issues' with this?
I'm on install number ten of Exchange 2007 and god knows how many different variations of trying to connect to it on the phone. I can get OWA working on the phone and via the web both on the phone and via my home pc, i've had Outlook at home working and i've had Outlook at work working. Honestly when it works, it's seamless and very very quick however i'd like it to work for longer than a day and have some faith that it will do so.
What I keep finding is that for some reason, despite nothing changing on the server or the phone is that Active Sync eventually fails and for no apparent reason. The longest i've had it working is just over a day ( yesterday) and last night it packed up again.
I think it's something to do with certificates / dns but that's purely guesswork as I thought i'd fixed it last time by setting up the FQDN to point at both internal and external network cards on our internal network.
I would also like to point out that Exchange2007 has been working perfectly throughout all of this, it's just the iPhone / ActiveSync part that dies - unsurprisingly this is the most important bit for me as that's the bit our sales force will be relying on when we transfer to exchange.
I'm no Mac 'fan' and i'm not that much in love with Windows but there seems to be something amiss between Apple and Microsoft and due to the iPhones complete lack of diagnostic logging further compounded by silent error messages i'm at a loss to find out where / why / when it's breaking.
Is there a 2.0.3 update due which will address this problem?
In the meantime i'm off to install Exchange ..... again, set up security certificates ... again ..... and see if it will fix what's broken .... again

I changed the following in IIS.
Default website - Microsoft Server ActiveSync Properties
virtual directory - read access enabled
directory security - integrated windows authentication, digest authentication, basic authentication enabled
realm - set to mydomain.com
Changed the same things for OWA
That appears to have done the trick but i've been here before so i'll see if it stays working over the weekend.
As a phone ... i'm impressed, as a web enabled device, i'm impressed but as a Corporate Tool ..... i've yet to be impressed, largely due to the complexity of integration into exchange.

TS1503 How much space does a 16gb(?) phone have after syncing and the phones data is applied. I only have roughly 4 gbs to use afterwards.

When I synce my phone there is hardly any space available. The first few times there was plenty of space. Had hundreds of songs. Then one day I synced it and the "other" filled up and I can only store maybe 200 songs. Seemed really similar to the amount of my 8gb iPhone 3. My music is the majority of usage and it's only 1.7 gbs

If a phone is sold from one friend to another and wants to use it on a different carrier the friend can contact the carrier it was sold by to request it unlocked. I know AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint will give you the steps to unlock it as long as the original contract it was bought under has been completed. eBay/Craigslist is really not the best place to try to get "unlocked phones" from, if it turns out the phone isn't unlocked then I'm really sorry you got stuck with that one and as stevejobsfan said above I would report them immediately and see if you can recover your money. Battery drain after 2.2 update (Exchange Active Sync users or those who use a calendar on the phone)

A lot of folks are having "issues" with battery life after the over the air (OTA) update and there has been much speculation as to the cause. My frustrattion level increased with each new post I read that did not reveal a resolution. The back and forth banter about FTC complaints (that was an interesting escape from the battery problem but not very helpful), new apps running from startup (I don't like 'em either), Linux really working better with all these programs running (don't really care as long as the battery level isn't drained after an hour of just sitting on the counter) just made matters worse.
I would like to share with you my experience and hope that it helps some of you who have taken the time to read my post. First, let me say that the cause is not due the the "bloatware" applications that were installed during the OTA update.
Secondly, the primary purpose of my handheld is for voice calls but running close behind is my need for immediate email, contacts and calendar information (which is configured through Exchange Active Sync). If you are not using your phone with Active Sync or updating a remote calendar like Google), you can stop reading this post.
I noticed that the yin/yang (sync) icon at the top of my screen kept popping up more than usual after the update. Looking through the items I have set to sync (Menu -> Settings -> Accounts & Sync), I reviewed all the things I have set and disabled the sync settings for the things I did not want. After disabling the "Backup Assistant", "Google", "News", "Stocks" and "Weather", I thought for sure the issue would be resolved. Not yet. When those adjustments didn't change the frequency of the sync, I decided to look at the Exchange Active Sync and to my surprise, the culprit was revealed - the calendar was stuck in a sync loop (syncing over and over). I disabled the "Sync Calendar" feature and the phone stopped it's maddening attempt to refresh the calendar.
I let the phone cool off and thought that I could get by with manually toggling the option to sync the calendar but I couldn't accept that was the only way this thing would work. I removed the Exchange Active Sync account and created a new one. After the new account was verified, it attempted to sync mail, contacts and calendar but this time, there was a error that occured during the calendar sync. Instead of repeatedly attempting to re-sync, an error message that stated "Client/Server conversion error". At this point, the calendar sync loop was no longer a problem (wasnt' draining the battery) but now my calendar wouldn't sync at all.
To fix it, I cleared the data in the Calendar applications (Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> All [tab at the top]). Scroll down the list and open each of the Calendar items and click the "Clear Data" button.

It seems that adjustments made to events before the update were kept in the phones local storage. After the update, the calendar data in the phone's cache was not matching my remote calendar and appears to have been the cause for my battery drain. After performing these steps, everything is back to normal. Good luck!

Super frustrating, I know. Do you use Exchange Active Sync?
If so, you might be having the same issue that I've explained. Since making the adjustments (clearing the data from the Active Sync components like mail, contacts and calendar), my battery life is back to normal.
Try clearing the data (see first post in this thread) and let me know what happens.

My ipad syncs my calander and contacts with Microsoft Active sync

I want to stop syncing my calander and contacts with active sync and want to sync with my mac via the cloud. When I turn off the active sync on my ipad is says it will wipe everything off my ipad. I want to get everything off my ipad onto my mac b4 that happens. Any suggestions please??

Hotmail via Active Sync on iOS 5.1

I've just set up a hand-me-down 3GS for my wife. I have set up a work email account for her successfully through Microsoft Exchange and then tried to set up Hotmail through the predefined setting - which I believe means through Exchange or Active Sync - and initially it was fine. All the folders synced and the iPhone downloaded the messages.
However, since then, it won't download any new messages - it just sits and says it's checking but nothing happens. So I ended up deleting the account and re-installing it but now I just get an message saying "Cannot Get Mail - The Connection to the server failed".
No amount of deleting the account and re-installing it works. No problems accessing Hotmail via the web. And I managed to send a simple text email from the Mail App on this phone to my own iPhone successfully.
But I don't understand why it won't work now.
Does anyone have any ideas? I've trawled the internet but can't find an answer.

I have been getting the same problem for a couple of days now on my 4S (iOS 5.1). Hotmail was working fine, now all of a sudden I get the "Cannot Get Mail - The Connection to the server failed" message.
Have tried to reset and restore the phone, delete items from my inbox, changed the sync days to no limit and anything else I have found suggested on the net. Still no luck.
If I delete my hotmail account from the iphone and add a different account (still hotmail) that works fine. If I then delete that and try to put mine back on there the problem comes straight back!!!
I am sure like you all, it is really starting to annoy me now!! Anyone got any ideas?? Apple HELP!!!!

Sprint Treo 755P Exchange Active Sync

After 4 hours on the phone with Sprint trying all different kinds of things to get the active sync to work with our Microsoft Exchange server I got the answer that: You cannot use that phone to active sync.
Here is the error I get when I try to sync my phone using versamail:

Bad Request
Connection: Close Date:.....
Microsoft-IIS/6.0
Research on the Palm website tells me that the 6 means something to the effect that 'the buffer is too big to synchronize' & that the HTTP status of 400 means it cannot be resolved.
I set up the active sync and versamail for others in my company the same way I have set up mine. They are using older phones (Treo700P) and they have had NO issues with this, and as soon as I set up their phones it worked with no problems.
Is Sprint right that I cannot use this phone to active sync my email, contacts and calendar via my exchange server? Is there a way to get this to work?

And I should probably tell you how to get the Root Certificate your server is using!
Do this:
From your PC, browse to your OWA iste
Double click the lock icon in the bottom right hand corner
Select the Certification Path tab
Double click the item at the very top of the list
If there's only one item listed, post back here as we'll have to go another route
Click the Details tab
Click the Copy to File button
Use the wizard to export the file. Make sure you use DER encoded binary as the format
If you have more than two items in the list from step 3, then repeat steps 4-7 for all of them except the very bottom one. Once you have the certificate(s), follow the instructions from the URL in the previous post to install it/them.

N8: No active sync (PUSH) with my email accounts !...

I love my new N8 but I'm having a problem with my emails and I'm getting really frustrated about it. I saw a couple of topics about similar issues but none of them solves my problem.
I setup my hotmail email account, everything works fine but there's no active sync between the phone and hotmail. If I set synchronisation to "soonest" (which I can only assume is active sync or PUSH), nothing happens. It only syncs when I turn the device on. If I set it up to 15mn, it works ok but I'd expect a phone like the N8 to support active sync.
Then I thought it was maybe a compatibility problem with hotmail, so I tried it with my Ovi email but it has the same problem. No push email. I have to sync manually or set it up for syncing every 15mn.
Reading topics with similar issues on the forum, I tried then to setup my hotmail account as a MfE account, but that was a epic failure.
I try then to setup my account without accepting the terms of conditions, but then I can only sync every 5mn or manually, and emails I've read on my phone still show as unread on internet.
I've tried every possible settings now and I'm getting quite frustrated. What am I doing wrong? Should it not work straight away without having to fiddle with the settings?
I believe other people have the same problem as I've read topics about it but for GMAIL. Nothing on Hotmail though.
I know it isn't a massive issue but I expect my brand new Nokia N8 to sync my emails as they arrive. Even my old BlackBerry Curve worked better for that, even though the BBs are not user friendly.

I'm on Orange UK.
I previously used the downloadable "Nokia Messaging" client when I had a N97mini until the trial expired. After the trial expired the "Nokia Messaging" service did not work at all (soonest or polling).
I think the N8 is a bit different. The underlying tech is obviously "Nokia Messaging" and the polling setting does work. Maybe they are deliberately blocking "soonest" from working unless people sign up to extra email plans. It's the complete lack of information that annoys me.
If they said "soonest" requires a plan, then fine but you get no info at all, it just lets you select it then refuses to work.
Of course it may be that there is no conspiracy, just a broken email service with no end user support.

Sync and album art problems with iPhone 3G

The other day my iPhone was sitting in the cradle syncing and I noticed iTunes (8.02) was deleting the apps from the phone. I cancelled that sync and in iTunes I saw that the "Sync Applications" checkbox was unchecked, but I hadn't unchecked it. I then rechecked the box and synced my apps back onto the phone.
Today I added some songs to a playlist and synced, but the sync time seemed suspiciously short. When I checked iTunes I saw that all of my sync content boxes were unchecked...Sync Music, Sync Videos, etc. When I check one of the boxes iTunes threatens to delete all the content presently on my phone and replace it with content from the library....which is of course the same content except for the few songs I copied into one playlist. I don't really want to sit around and wait until this stupid phone replaces 15gb of content with the same 15gb of content. Sometimes this thing acts like such a piece of junk.
Perhaps this is related, but some weeks ago I purchased a Colbie Caillat album from the ITMS. Whenever I play a song from this purchase on my iPhone it shows the album art for an Usher album I already had in my library. If I play the same song on one of my iPods, the album art is correct. Apparently some sort of corruption is afoot in either iTunes, the iPhone or both. Is there some way to get iTunes and the iPhone on the same page without having to wipe and restore this stupid phone? I bit the bullet and checked all the boxes and synced, and the phone did not go through with the threat to erase all my content. It just synced the one changed playlist instead. False alarm. However, the album art issue remains.

IPad no syncing Contacts via Exchange Active Sync

We have set up a Exchange 2003 server with Active Sync and everything is working good except it is not syncing the users contacts. Any ideas?

You mean on the device? Yeah, it's set to sync contacts as well as Calendar and Email.

Exchange 2007 SP3 + Active Sync + OWA

I am curious if this can be done:
We want OWA to say use https://webmail.xyz.com
Then we want say use: https://activesync.xyz.com to be exclusively for active sync NOT web mail.
So if someone set sup their device and it asks for exchange server: webmail.xyz.com that only has exclusive rights to OWA, not active sync.
If someone setups their device with activesync.xyz.com then they just go through active sync and NOT OWA.
Can this be done with Exchange 2007 SP3, and the reason we are looking into this is for security reasons.
I need help to find out if this can be done.
Right now we have webmail.xyz.com configured for both OWA & active sync.

How to engage Shell Script resource action in an Active Sync workflow.

A little background, at my organization I have IDM set up simply to recognize changes in LDAP and transmit those changes, via active sync, to AD. We don't yet use the IDM interface to make any changes to users, instead we use external interfaces that we have written to make changes to LDAP which then get picked up via Active Sync and synchronized to AD. However, in addition to AD, there are several other resources that we would like to gradually wrap into this active sync workflow via native and custom resource adapters. Currently I am working on a simple Shell Script resource to manage Linux home directories. I have written all the necessary code and created the resource itself within IDM. This all seems to work, I can create, delete, disable, etc.. users in our Linux environment from the IDM interface.
Here is the problem, I would like to integrate the creation, deletion, enabling, disabling, etc.. of users into the same Active Sync workflow that engages whenever a change is made to LDAP. This way, whenever a user is created in LDAP (and consequently AD), that user will be granted a home directory in Linux. Unfortunately it seems that Shell Script Resources are not enabled for Active Sync. Any ideas on how one might accomplish this?

Thank you for the prompt reply. Funny thing is that I have been banging my head on this problem for a couple weeks now (this is my first attempt at real customization ... ). I finally got desperate and decided to reach out for help. After I posted this message I came to a realization that ended up solving the problem for me, go figure.
For anyone in my place I can relate what I ended up doing, simple as it was. Keep in mind, of course, that this is a highly customized environment that I am working in so the specifics probably wont apply. What I basically did, is I found an LDAPCreateUserProcess form that gets invoked when Active Sync is run. For all I could tell, this simply processed the new attributes that came through Active Sync and related them to their llighthouse / AD counterarts. But I noticed a line like this:

and simply added the name of my shell script resource under the <s>AD</s> line. That was it.

Active Sync Not Stopping

I had an issue this AM with my active sync hanging. I had the JVM restarted as active sync was not responding. The active sync is still not responding even though the jvm has been stopped and re-started.
I did notice that under the active state there is a SPE Sync:stopped.
If I try to restart it it tells me the polciy is disabled.
IS this causing my active sync issue?
How do I re-start the SPE?

Don’t bother about SPE Sync:stopped.,
For AS just go to All tasks and delete SARunner task related to your AS like SARunner:Active Sync and then try to start

Active sync treo 750

My treo is recognized by my computer when I connect the USB. It tries to connect for a while and then says it can't connect?
Does Active Sync work with Outlook Express? That is what I have.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi.. Welcome to the Palm forums. Your 750 is a windows mobile device that on winXP users active sync and on vista uses windows mobile device center to sync. It only syncs to Outlook, will not sync to outlook express. Therefore it sounds like you do not have outlook on the computer. To be able to sync you will need to purchase and install outlook 2003 or above.
