Active Sync vs Synchronization

Dear all,
Please help me...I'm a little bit lost :o)
IDM 7.0 tells me that the Active Sync process is deprecated => from now on, we have to use the synchronization process AND the Meta View.
Using the synchronization process...there is no way to configure (for example) a workflow (or rule) based on an event (create, update, etc.). When I use the Meta View (Meta View => Identity event) to configure these events (create, update), only three events are available by default: enable, disable and delete.
Do you know how to configure the create AND update events ?
I would like to manage these two events through the Active Sync process.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Meta-Directory is included in iDS Integration Edition 5.0

Hi,
does IDS5.0 support W2K synchronization for ADS(Active DirectoryService)?
as compared to NT4 PDC synchronization.

  • Synchronization Policy Input Form versus Meta View Active Sync

    In IdM 7.1, the Resources/ Active Sync Resource/ Edit Synchronization Policy provides options for Input Form under the Common Settings section. If the Active Sync application is enabled on the Meta View Identity attributes page, the Input Form option on the Edit Synchronization Policy becomes disabled, and shows a statement MetaView will be used to handle detected changes for this resource
    I have logic to set IAPI.cancel based on certain conditions in my Synchronization Policy Input Form. Where does this type of logic go if Meta View is turned on for Active Sync?

    Which Imput Form are you Selecting
    Default User form or create user form.
    I want to enter users into AD from IDM using Active Sync.

  • How do I use Active Sync to view SharePoint Lists (Contacts and Calendars) on a Mobile Phone?

    We are attempting to use SharePoint 2010 in combination with Exchange 2010 to implement shared calendars and contact lists throughout our organization.  We are able to connect the lists to Outlook 2010, but have been unsuccessful in viewing
    the calendars and contact lists from our mobile phones.  How do we use Active Sync to view SharePoint Lists (Contacts and Calendars) on a Mobile Phone?
    In trying to answer this question, we have come across a few different possibilities, all of them falling just short of a long term solution for us.  After doing research, we found that Active Sync will only show the default folders of the account.  To
    solve this, we downloaded an Add-In for Outlook (CodeTwo FolderSync) to synchronize folders and synchronized our SharePoint list with a new Contact list in the default folder.  The issue we came across with this method is that the Add-In we are using
    is not capable of automatic synchronization.  There is a button and it must be clicked after every update is made, which is not ideal for our solution.  We then went to the company (CodeTwo) and found server side software (Exchange Sync) that they
    offer which will automatically synchronize the folders.  After installing that on the Exchange Server, we now are running into the issue of not being able to locate the SharePoint lists on the Exchange Server.
    Does anyone happen to know how we can get to the SharePoint lists from the Exchange Server?  Has anyone else been able to use shared contacts lists and calendars from SharePoint on their mobile phones using Active Sync?  If so, are we in the right
    direction with what we have found so far?
    Thanks,
    Brad

    You cannot use ActiveSync for that, but there are SharePoint clients for the iPhone. Windows Mobile 7 natively supports SharePoint with SharePoint Workspace Mobile, part of Microsoft Office Mobile. Android and BlackBerry might also have some apps.

  • Active Sync - No data displayed in Outlook 2013

    Hello,
    We are currently developing Active Sync support for SOGo (www.sogo.nu). Everything works well with Android and iOS based devices but Outlook 2013 doesn't work.
    The FolderSync command works well, but the initial Sync request seems to be ignored by Outlook, as it keeps sending it over and over. Here is the initial FolderSync response:

    As you can see, there are 2 mails, 1 event and 1 contact.
    Can anyone tell me what could be wrong in our response which could lead Outlook 2013 to reject it?
    Thanks,

    I enabled logging in Outlook 2010 and here is a the failure trying to synchronize one single mail:

  • Exchange 2007 Active Sync Issue with 1 users mailbox

    Good Afternoon,
    Server OS:  Small Business Server 2008
    Exchange:  2007 Standard - Update Rollup 13 SP3
    Mobile phone:  Blackberry Z10
    We are in the process of decommissioning our Blackberry Enterprise Server, and down to one user.  I am able to setup Exchange on his new non BES server tied phone, but it will not sync any email, all Meetings, and only some contacts.  I have tried
    adding this account to an Android phone with the same results.  I have numerous times went into EMC and delete the Mobile device, when re-adding the account, everything seems to point to his exchange account being the culprit.  I am getting the below
    Active Sync error after adding his account.  I have Bing / Googled around, and nothing of substance I have found.  Thank you in advance!

  • Again: BB Z10 Active Sync not syncing

    Hi Everyone,
    I am having problems syncing my contacts and calendat item with my Z10.
    I have gone through the other related topics but none of them contained any solution.
    I tried everything like security wipe, restart, delete and add gain the account etc etc.
    I verified the active sync by using other devices with the server and all work just fine.
    The situation is as follows:
    -calendar does not sync at all
    -task do not sync at all
    -contacts do not sync but i am able to perform a remote search which returns the contact i am searching.
    This looks as if the connection is working but the z10 does not start the process to sync the data.
    Does anyone have any idea what this might be? Are there any log on the bb side which I could check?
    Thanks for all assistance in advance...

    Hello gwendlandt,
    Thank you for your question regarding the issue you are experiencing with synchronizing Contacts and Calendar items on your BlackBerry Z10 smartphone.
    In order to synchronize contacts and/or calendar via Microsoft Exchange (with Microsoft Activesync enabled) a CardDAV and/or CalDAV server must be setup by your mail provider. We suggest that you contact your mail server administrator to verify that this is the case.
    Let us know if you have any other questions.

  • Why won't active sync stop?

    Howdy folks,
    I am having issues with active sync. It seems like it behaves haphazardly and does not always do what is expected. At the moment, my issue is that I have an active sync process that will not stop. It keeps executing and rescheduling itself to execute after the correct time interval. However it WILL NOT stop when I try to stop the synchronization.
    Other time when I have encountered similar behavior it has been because the SARunner task got messed up. But usually the thread stops executing then, even though it says it is. This time however it is executing and will not stop.
    Active Sync seems a bit flakey...

    Well I am not 100% sure how it works however let’s say you were using data last night and you went through 50%, 75% and then 100% of your data. 5 hours later in the middle of the night it sends you a 50% data usage message, 5 minutes after that it sends you a 75% usage message and so on and so forth. It’s not an ideal system because of the delay however I guess if you weren’t to get the messages people would be unhappy about that as well. The delay in the usage is the problem.

  • How Create LDAP Group Inside Active Sync Form?

    I have an Active Sync form that is working well to synchronize (and slightly massage) data from an Active Directory source to a Sun Directory Server destination.
    I need to synchronize group information from AD to DS. It must automatically create groups during the Active Sync processing. It can't be done externally using another scripting language; it must be done within IdM.
    I have the following code...
    <Action id='0' application='com.waveset.provision.WorkflowServices'>
    <Argument name='op' value='createResourceObject'/>
    <Argument name='object'>
      <Object>
      <Attribute name='resourceId' value='DS'/>
      <Attribute name='resourceName' value='DS'/>
      <Attribute name='resourceType' value='LDAP'/>
      <Attribute name='objectName' value='abcd'/>
      <Attribute name='attributes'>
        <Object>
        <Attribute name='cn' value='abcd'/>
        <Attribute name='groupType' value='abcd'/>
        </Object>
      </Attribute>
      <Attribute name='objectType' value='group'/>
      <Attribute name='objectId' value='CN=abcd,ou=Groups,dc=blah,dc=com>
      </Object>
    </Argument>
    <Argument name='objectType' value='group'/>
    <Argument name='resourceId' value='DS'/>
    </Action>However with that code inside the <Field><Expansion>...</Expansion><Field> section the group is not created. I've enabled tracing and as best I can determine the code isn't even executed.
    I have created resource schemas for accounts[DS].ldapGroups and accounts[AD].groups and that works well. I can read group memberships from those lists. However I can't simply append to those lists to automatically create groups (which would be nice). That's why I've gone down this path of attempting to create the groups programatically.
    I've scoured the groups and the course notes and found nothing relevant here. The examples all refer to creating the groups within an interactive form. I'm trying to do the same within the <Field> section of an Active Sync form.

         session cannot be resolvedsession is your LighthouseContext handle so depending on how you are implementing the class you quoted, you will either need to pass it in, for example via the invoke tag from your form/workflow, or get your own - don't know how this is done but I'm assuming authenticating to IdM would have to be done.
    For all those interested, I have implemented the Java code snippet listed by Vladimir in XPRESS.
    idmSessionHandle - is the LighthouseContext for the current session
    currentOUDN - is a string representing the AD DN of the OU to be created

                    <invoke name='createObject'>
                      <ref>resourceAdapterHandle</ref>
                      <ref>newOUGenericObject</ref>
                      <new class='java.util.HashMap'/>
                    </invoke>
    [...]Although the above works well, to create OUs in AD, I have not yet tested its real life application with regards to the initial mass loading of users (from LDAP (auth source) to IdM to AD) and ActiveSyncing. My concerns are two threads attempting to create the OU at roughly the same time, the first succeeds, and second one fails because AD will reply with the fact that the object already exists. The workaround would be to do a recheck of the existence of the OU, after a failure was encountered. This ties into exception handling in general in this approach.
    If anyone can contribute exception handling and possibly a create with retries approach, to the above code, I'd appreciate it.
    Cheers.

    Hi All,
    I have AD single forest and multiple domain. for example, the forest domain is jakarta.co.id, and the other domain is bali.co.id.
    Exchange 2003 deployed in jakarta.co.id, User mail enabled in domain jakarta.co.id and bali.co.id.
    Then, I upgrade to Exchange 2010 (deploy in jakarta.co.id) and move mailbox from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.
    All users in bali.co.id are able to access email from Owa, BlackBerry (BIS), Outlook, but cannot access from Android, Windows Phone. (Active-Sync).
    I got error information generated from https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com, as following:
    Attempting the FolderSync command on the Exchange ActiveSync session.
    The test of the FolderSync command failed.
    Tell me more about this issue and how to resolve it
    Additional Details
    Exchange ActiveSync returned an HTTP 500 response (Internal Server Error).
    Active-Sync still not work even I check option "Include inheritable permissions from this object" in security tab.
    any idea to fix this issue?
    Thanks.

  • Problems in using Msync with  IPAQ 3760 and Active SYnc 3.5

    Hi,
    Environment :-
    IPAQ 3760
    Windows NT workstation
    Active Sync 3.5
    I am using Active Sync 3.5 which does not need RAS
    configuration on the machine.
    I am unable to run msync.exe. It does not give any errors
    messages.
    The 9i lite documentation talks about RAS settings.
    If anyone has faced similar prob coudl you please let me know
    the solution.
    regards,
    Sonal

    You do not need to make a RAS connection with Pocket PC 2002,
    because now ActiveSync itself makes an IP connection, and
    Oracle9i Lite just needs an IP connection for synchronization no
    matter how you establish it. Hi, I also experience the same problem. Using PocketPC 2002 I have a pasthru connection. Ik kan browse on the Internet with Internet Explorer, so the connections works.
    mSync just seems to do nothing. When I press the Sync button, nothing happens (not even a progress bar).
    Any idea?
    Thanks,
    Bas.

    Hi StevenLevy,
    Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community.
    You should be able to connect a BlackBerry 10 Smartphone directly to your mail servers using ActiveSync. This KB article should provide some steps that will also apply for BlackBerry 10 devices. "How to create a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account with a BlackBerry Playbook tablet" http://blackberry.com/btsc/KB31918
    This should allow over the air synchronization of contacts and calendar. For more information, please see: "Available contact and calendar synchronization features on a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet or BlackBerry 10 smartphone" http://blackberry.com/btsc/KB30038
    Let me know if that helps.

  • Exchange active sync with 800w

    I can't get Outlook set up to sync with the corporate server running exchange 2003. There are four points of information - user name, password, domain and address - needed. User name I've used is what is before the @ in my email address, same as when I log on using remote access. Password is what  I use to log on as well. For the domain, I have tried the simple domain name with .com. I've tried the local exchange server address, the local proxy server address and the URL for the proxy server and the principal name for the proxy server, but I keep getting an error message either to check my log in information or that Synchronization could not be completed.
    The directions posted on the page for the 800w are sufficiently vague, so I can't tell what domain name to use. Any suggestions.

  • Sprint Treo 755P Exchange Active Sync

    After 4 hours on the phone with Sprint trying all different kinds of things to get the active sync to work with our Microsoft Exchange server I got the answer that: You cannot use that phone to active sync.
    Here is the error I get when I try to sync my phone using versamail:
    AirSAMStateMachine.c
    2214 6 HTTP/1.1 400
    Bad Request
    Connection: Close Date:.....
    Microsoft-IIS/6.0
    Research on the Palm website tells me that the 6 means something to the effect that 'the buffer is too big to synchronize' & that the HTTP status of 400 means it cannot be resolved.
    I set up the active sync and versamail for others in my company the same way I have set up mine. They are using older phones (Treo700P) and they have had NO issues with this, and as soon as I set up their phones it worked with no problems.
    Is Sprint right that I cannot use this phone to active sync my email, contacts and calendar via my exchange server? Is there a way to get this to work?
    thanks for any help or suggestions

    And I should probably tell you how to get the Root Certificate your server is using!
    Do this:
    From your PC, browse to your OWA iste
    Double click the lock icon in the bottom right hand corner
    Select the Certification Path tab
    Double click the item at the very top of the list
    If there's only one item listed, post back here as we'll have to go another route
    Click the Details tab
    Click the Copy to File button
    Use the wizard to export the file. Make sure you use DER encoded binary as the format
    If you have more than two items in the list from step 3, then repeat steps 4-7 for all of them except the very bottom one. Once you have the certificate(s), follow the instructions from the URL in the previous post to install it/them.

  • Active sync policy - device encryption

    Hi
    We have a exchange 2007 server with active sync. We have enabled the actrive sync policy device encryption. But when i try to sync with my android HTC desire who dosent have device encryption support it works anyway and i can sync emails etc. Must I
    do someting else to enforce that active sync policy? Allow non-provisonable devices is not checkt.

    “The iPhone 3GS supports device encryption, and is the first version to do so. Previous iPhone models, including the iPhone 3G, do not
    support device encryption. Additionally,
    before iPhone OS 3.1, these devices did not communicate their policy status correctly, resulting in the devices being able to connect to Exchange Server, even if your Exchange ActiveSync policy required device encryption and did not allow non-provisionable
    devices”
    ---------Refer to <Exchange
    ActiveSync and iPhone OS 3.1>
    According to the article above, if the device doesn’t support encryption, it would not apply the policy correctly. Also, the non-allowed
    device can’t be prevented from accessing the mailbox
    “Device encryption enabled: This setting enables encryption on the device.
    Not all devices can enforce encryption. For more information, see the device and mobile operating system documentation”
    ---------Refer to <Understanding
    Exchange ActiveSync Mailbox Policies>
    So, you need to contact the manufacturer of the mobiles, and confirm if the device support device encryption
    Workaround: Add the allowed device ID to all current phone users so that they can only synchronize the mailbox with specific devices. For all other users who don’t have the device
    currently, you can add a fake device ID to prevent the initial synchronization, and add the correct ID when you confirm that the phone supports device encryption (Reference)
    Notes: If you have exchange 2010, you can set quarantine for all the devices that
    try to synchronize as Rich said. Then, approval message can be sent to you. if you confirm that the device support device encryption, a simple click on approval message will allow the synchronization to proceed again
     “Currently, only the storage card can be encrypted on devices running Windows Mobile 6.0. We recommend that you don't
    use this setting and use the RequireStorageCardEncryption parameter instead”
    ---------Refer to <New-ActiveSyncMailboxPolicy>
