Active Widgets??

Hey guys,
Has anyone done client side programming using active widgets?
I tried, but the documentation given in their web site is a little advanced.
Some of the example are easy, but is there any tutorial for beginners??

  • How to activating Widgets in B1 Cockpit

    Dear All,
    I would like to know that has anyone have experiment in SAP Business One PL12 Cockpit feature? I need help in setting up B1i Server Address for Dashboard's Widgets.
    Thank you in advance.
    Nghia

    Hi all,
    After installing the cockpit, i've got error 401 not authorized, checking into documentation there's the info:
    "If the B1i password is not correct or licenses are not properly assigned to this user, the error 401 not authorized will be displayed in the Dashboard widgets.
    To fix this, correct the B1i user password in the SLD (system landscape directory) within the Integration Framework and ensure licenses are assigned as specified in section Licenses in this document."
    Then i've tried to go in Start > All Programs > Integration Solution for SAP Business One > Integration Framework and got the following message.
    "SAP B1iP detected an error:
    Emitted HTTP-Code
    403 - Forbidden
    Internal Reason
    XCL198 HTTP-access currently not allowed from remote clients, as B1iP runs in local-mode or safe-mode.
    Recommendation
    Check for the correctness of your activity or environment or ask your system-administrator for further help."
    Checking this thread, i've changed the file Xcellerator.cfg located on C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\SAP Business One Integration\B1iServer\tomcat\webapps\B1iXcellerator from "xcl.http.localOnly=true" to "xcl.http.localOnly=false" and still got the same message.
    I'm running SAP Business One 8.8 PL 12 on MSSQL 2008 with default instance, i've already checked B1i licenses and even tried to turn off cockpit and turn on again...
    Someone can help me?
    Thanks.

  • How can I remove desktop widgets?

    How can previously downloaded widgets be removed from the system?
    In OS X 10.10.1, clicking the dashboard icon causes active widgets to be displayed. Also displayed are two circles in the bottom left of the screen. One circle contains a plus sign. The other circle contains a minus sign.
    Clicking the circle with the plus sign causes the icons of all widgets, including widgets downloaded but not active, to be displayed.
    Clicking the circle with the plus sign also causes it to go dim
    Clicking the circle with the minus sign causes the icons of all widgets to tremble. Pressing the alt/option key also causes the icons of all widgets to tremble.
    Some of the trembling icons display an X in a circle.
    Clicking on a trembling icon’s circle with the X has no effect.
    What is the meaning and purpose of the circles with the X’s?

    Clicking the X-es on the trembling widgets are supposed to remove the widget from the Dashboard. Since this doesn't happen there might be something wrong.
    Please see if the following helps:
    Open the Finder and find the "go" menu in the top left corner of your computer display (not the Finder window itself) Click: "go > go to folder"
    In the field that appears, type, or copy-paste: ~/library/widgets and click [go]
    Trash any unwanted widgets you find in this folder.

  • Widgets Won't Work but Dashboard opens

    I can open the dashboard and select widgets but if I try to open a widget or drag it onto the desktop, it automatically closes the dashboard and widgets fall off the screen, I think maybe somehow I've lost the original default settings and have disabled it? I really want to use my widgets, please advise

    Hello Starman,
    I am experiencing exactly the same symptoms on a brand new iMac 24" 2.8GHz / 2GB RAM :
    - fresh full reinstall of MacOS 10.5.1 + QT 7.3.1 + Security Update 2007-009 v1.1
    - no other widget installed than Apple standard ones
    - I have 3 users created on my iMac : 1 admin, 1 for normal use + 1 for the kids
    (no parental control activated)
    - widgets have been working OK for 48h, and without any explanation, they are gone ?
    I mean :
    - when I launch Dashboard, I obtain a "grey" screen, without any widget at all appearing ;
    - the "+" is available in the lower-left corner of the screen, and allows me only to select
    the very first "Widgets" management tool : any other widget simply refuse to be selected ;
    - any other action when Dashboard is active sends me back to the main Desktop window...
    I deleted all related Pref files, tried the Terminal trick to deactivate then reactivate Dashboard, I even downloaded the Onyx Beta version for Leopard to clean all caches and then rebuild the authorizations on my startup disk, no way - still no Widgets
    Any clue, pliz ?
    Apple is not very optimistic in their note <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307022>, let's hope a clear solution will be found rapidly.
    Thanks,
    Didier

  • Why don't dashboard widgets work in 10.7?

    I've been googling around, looking for an answer to this question--I've downloaded several useful widgets only to discover OSX 10.7.5 Lion won't open them.  I get the error message:  "You can't install *.wdgt because it is not a valid widget."  After some searching, I have managed to find widgets that do work, but they never have the extension .wdgt, and when I look in my library folder, the active widgets I'm able to find have a .plist extension.  Are there any good sites for finding working widgets?  Are there ways to convert older widgets?
    Most of the ones on the Apple Dashboard widget page say they'll work on any version after 10.4 or so, and I'm assuming, as are many, that Apple's just abandoning the Dashboard interface.  The weird thing is that there are still two different ways to access a "Dashboard" or people seem to think that they're both called a "Dashboard"--the first Dashboard that I get with a three-finger sideswipe--and then the other one accessed by F4 that more resembles the iPad OS.
    Basically, I don't care how I access widgets or apps or gadgets or whatever, via a Dashboard or dock, but it's pretty crazy that there's less functionality for a MacBook Pro than for your most basic smartphone.

    .plist folders are not widget files. They're just preference files for those widgets. All widgets have a .wdgt extension and will reside in the Library/Widgets folder either at the root of the hard drive or in your Home directory.
    As to the problem, it's possible that the widgets you're trying to use may just be too old and not have been updated for the later versions of Dashboard. If you'll post the names of the widgets you wish to use, someone may be able to check them and see if it's indeed such a problem.
    Finally, there is only one Dashboard, though there may be more than one command or activity that will open it. A three-finger sideswipe, I believe, changes Spaces and does not activate Dashboard per se, though Dashboard may open in a space.
    Regards.

  • "i" button not working on Dashboard Widgets

    None of my dashboard widgets will flip over to allow preferences to be selected. I have tried deleting the dashboard preference files from my preferences, and this makes no difference. This only appears to be a problem in my main account, as in a clean account widgets flip quite happily. Any ideas as to what could be causing the problem?

    delete the file home directory/library/preferences/com.apple.dashboard.plist and log out/in. your active widgets will be reset to the default ones. see if the "i" button works now.

  • Rescuing widgets

    After doing an archive and install of Leopard, I've found the old stickies widget (which contains important data)in the newly created "previous system folder", located in the "libraries folder". But I don't know how or where to install it. Or if other files are needed for it to work

    How to retrieve Stickies widget text after changing computer.
    If after moving your account you don't find the content of your old Stickies, proceed like this:
    From your user_account/Library/Preferences, open the file widget-com.apple.widget.stickies.plist, preferably in Property List Editor if you have it, otherwise in TextEdit.
    If you don't know how many Stickies widget you previously had on your Dashboard, do a search for the string -data. Count how many times you find it; it's the number of Stickies.
    If the current number of Stickies on your Dashboard doesn't match the number found in the plist, open Dashboard and add enough to match. Leave them all empty and yellow.
    From your user_account/Library/Preferences, open the file com.apple.dashboard.plist, preferably in Property List Editor if you have it, otherwise in TextEdit.
    The currently active widgets are stored under the layer-gadgets category. In TextEdit it looks like that:
    <dict>
    <key>layer-gadgets</key>
    <array>
    <dict>
    <key>id</key>
    <string>41aa87ea3a0f5eea</string>
    <key>in-layer</key>
    <true/>
    <key>path</key>
    <string>/Library/Widgets/Stickies.wdgt/</string>
    Now make sure the widget is really Stickies, as seen above. Now all you have to do is replace the widget id (above: 41aa87ea3a0f5eea) by the first -data number found in widget-com.apple.widget.stickies.plist, without the -data suffix of course. Proceed by copy and paste to avoid mistakes.
    Repeat the procedure for as many Stickies you had, replacing the second id by the second -data number, and so on.
    Save com.apple.dashboard.plist, then log off immediately. After the next login your old Stickies will be back.

  • CALENDAR WIDGET FORMAT

    I have read almost every thread related to this issue and I can't seem to find the right answer. So, someone PLEASE help me with this:
    How can I change the date display format for the Calendar Widget.
    When I pick a date using the calendar, I want it to show it as YYYY-MM-DD.
    Thanks for your time and help.
    Pablo.

    sparky67,
    Remove the calendar from your active widgets, then find and drag the com.apple.widget.calendar.plist file which can be found in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder to the Desktop. Next add the widget to your active widgets, and check for desired appearance.
    ;~)

  • Copying a file from Cd/Dvd to MacBookPro?!

    Hi,
    I have got a MacBook Pro 2.33 and when I try to copy a file from cd or dvd ( let's say a movie about 700Mb) it takes about 20 minutes!! and furher if I try to open an app. during the copy it jump for a long time in the dock and when finally the app. appears it works very very slow. It's normal such behavoir or I have got some problems with my Mac?
    Thanks

    That is not normal. It is a multithreading operating system. Sounds like either your hard drive is overfull, or your RAM might be bad, or the Spotlight index hasn't completed, or you have too many active widgets, the directory is damaged, a bad peripheral needs an updated driver, or if you migrated from a PowerPC Mac to an Intel Mac you used Migration Assistant. The latter is not recommended because old PowerPC drivers and plugins can slow down your system. This is how I'd migrate from PowerPC to Intel:

  • Use of dispose() and finalize()

    Hello everyone (first post ever). I have a question about a program that I'm currently working on that doesn't seem to be releasing system resources. Here's a brief description of my program and my problem:
    Program Description: It's a widget that queries a news file every couple of minutes to check if the file was updated. If it was updated, then the taskbar icon flashes and signals the user to click on it to open a window showing them the news.
    Problem: The main use of this program will be just sitting in the taskbar waiting and checking to see if there are any updates. However, after a user opens the window, the memory usage obviously spikes to show the content of the window. After the window is closed, the memory stays allocated and never seems to go back down to it's memory usage when it was just sitting in the taskbar. I have the window set to dispose on close and have fiddled around with adding finalize() and dispose() statements in a couple of different places. I also don't call anything from this class in any of my other classes.
    Here is my Window.class, where I'm hoping the problem is. Thanks.
    package mainFiles;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;

         public void windowActivated(WindowEvent arg0) {}
         public void windowClosed(WindowEvent arg0) {}
         public void windowDeactivated(WindowEvent arg0) {}
         public void windowDeiconified(WindowEvent arg0) {}
         public void windowIconified(WindowEvent arg0) {}
         public void windowOpened(WindowEvent arg0) {}
    }

    I'll try to describe it in some more detail:
    When the program first starts up, memory usage is around 9K to 11K, since the only task it has is to check an external file every five minutes to see if it's been updated. If there is an update, then the icon blinks which alerts the user that there is an update available. When they click on the icon, a window pops up displaying the news. Memory usage at this points run up to about 25K. Now this is where the problem comes in. After the window is closed, it should be disposed. Now, from what I understand, that means that the Garbage Collector should destroy it at some point and release the memory that's being used. However, many hours after the window has been closed, the memory usage is still at 25K. I just don't understand why it isn't using 9K-11K at that point.
    The main reason I care so much about memory usage is because this is a program that is going to be running in the background while users play PC games. It's mainly to get in touch with each other and tell each other when an event is happening in a specific game.

  • ITunes says computer is not authorized to play file, but it definitely is

    Hello.
    I recently bought Ministry of Sound's 90s Anthems 2 on iTunes. All the files have downloaded, but certain ones won't play. When I try to click them, I get the error message: 'This computer is not authorized to play X. Would you like to authorize it?' See below.
    The computer is authorized. I purchased this album for £9.99. My computer is the only authorized computer on my account. If I log into my account as it says in the error message, it tells me the computer is already authorized and STILL won't let me play the tracks. Can anyone help?
    Paul

    Authorization should only be required to play "protected" media whereas the tracks should be classed as "purchased". It is likely that the tracks are corrupt. Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases (like the U.K.), delete the broken tracks from your iTunes library (but do not hide from iCloud), close and then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
    While downloading click the small download activity widget underneath the search box and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
    If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • Choppy streaming video

    Whenever I try to stream online video, such as from youtube, I get extremely choppy video content.  The audio usually works fine, but the video will lag a few seconds each frame and skip quite a bit.  I know that it is not my internet connection, as I have tried streaming the same video's on different computers on the same network (with no problem), as well as tried my macbook on different networks (with the same problem).  I have seen this similar issue in different threads with no clear-cut resolution (and I have tried many of the suggestions from those threads).
    My issue started about three weeks ago completely randomly.  Since then, I have tried a few things to fix the issue.  I have tried different browsers (firefox, chrome, safari) as well as made sure my adobe flash was updated.  I have updated from Snow Leopard to Lion (was going to anyways, but hoping to fix this issue gave me the final push).  I have repaired my disk through Utilities and also run cleanups through Onyx.  My computer runs completely fine at all other times, but as soon as I try to stream video, the video becomes choppy and my computer becomes as slow as molasses.  Through activity monitor, I have noticed that while streaming (and shortly after) my computer goes to about 0% CPU Idle, with most of the CPU power going something called kernel task, which will run between 100-150 % CPU when the lagginess occurs.
    Are there any suggestions at all?
    My specs are:
    2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    Mac OS X 10.7.2

    Through activity monitor, I have noticed that while streaming (and shortly after) my computer goes to about 0% CPU Idle, with most of the CPU power going something called kernel task, which will run between 100-150 % CPU when the lagginess occurs.
    Do you have Activity Monitor set to show"All Processes" instead of  its default of "My Processes?" If not, that leaves the "usual suspects" well under the radar. The "Show"option is in the toolbar of the AM window--this image is from 10.6--might be slightly different in Lion:
    The other items re using AM to find a culprit are:
    1) Use the computer normally for a while before checking AM's status. Items that tend to clog teh system may not show right after a restart.
    2) Close all user applications so the computer is basically "at idle."
    3) Highlight the "%CPU" column to bubble the worst offenders to the top.
    I also like to quit any Dashboard widgets before this test to eliminate clutter; widgets that have to "phone home" can skew the results. To save having to restart the computer to turn off active widgets, get the widget "DashQuit":
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/status/dashquit_berenguierduncan.html
    Handy little rascal to have when troubleshooting. Once installed, the Dashquit widget is simply a button that turns off all open widgets.
    If viewing YouTube via Safari, be aware that there are a lot of Safari extensions that might interfere. Try turning off extensions in Safari.
    Let us know what you find.

  • SpaceFM - A Customizable File Manager

    This thread is a continuation of the spacefm comments at the end of the PCManFM-Mod thread.  For users of other distros to see more of your ideas, please consider posting to my blog or the SpaceFM Forum as well.  Thanks for all the constructive feedback!

    SpaceFM is looking interesting. I hope it would not be a burden to make feature suggestions for such a new project but:
    1. Have files/folders be sorted alphabetically in addition to by filetype.
    2. Shorter names for devices in sidebar. Or at least the ability to rename them.
    3. Have separate icons for each individual bookmark.
    4. Ability to customize (choose) the buttons on the toolbar.
    5. Separate the sidebar and its button from the panels. Currently each panel can have its own sidebar. Maybe this is intentional but it seems redundant.
    1. Probably a good idea - I've added it to the list.
    2. The devices list is sloppy by design - this allows maximum info for each line (columns waste space).  Personally I like to see as much as I can about a device at a glance.  I probably won't make each one renameable, but I could add an option to make the names simpler.  Any suggestions on format?  What would you like to see in the list?  I probably won't make that a columned list though - just labels.
    3. Unlikely, but I'll consider it.
    4. This already exists, but the interface is a little non-intuitive.  If you click the leftmost toolbar icon (a little wrench), you'll see Left and Right menus.  (These are going to be renamed Left Toolbar and Right Toolbar for better clarity.)  Use View|Design Mode to modify those menus, choosing icons, and checking or unchecking 'Show'.  The toolbars mirror those menus - that is their purpose.  You can also add custom commands to the toolbar by adding to these menus.  I don't particularly like this approach, but my plan A failed because I couldn't get gtk to give me any useful events on toolbuttons for Design Mode.  So that is the best I could come up with for now.
    5. If you mean the side panes (devices, bookmarks, etc), it is part of the design that each browser panel has its own, but each is shown optionally.
    Thanks for your input!

    SpaceFM looks really nice. I like how one can customize almost everything of it smile. Especially the bash integration is a really nice idea.
    I also want to suggest a feature which I think would be usefull:
    Mounting of LUKS-encrypted devices
    Since most of my external drives are encrypted I would really help if one could decrypt them from the FM (like in Thunar and the newer versions of pcmanfm).
    In their case, that support probably comes in from gvfs, which spacefm doesn't use.  But I'll consider some form of this.  Also note you can add any command you want to the devices menu (use View|Design Mode), so you can add your own decrypt command.  Or if it needs root, you may want to install your command as a plugin (plugins are write-protected by root).  Thanks for the ideas.

    Wow - I think SpaceFM is one of the most exciting new projects I've heard about in a long time! You've already put in a tremendous amount of work and its functionality and ability to be customized are really impressive already; it covers many of the things I've absolutely coveted in file managers. My experiments so far have been very successful and the only problems have been a few segfaults, usually to do with root windows, etc.
    If SpaceFM proves rock-solid in reliability over time, and it can be reasonably kept maintained, I think it could become a really important tool on Linux. It will be brilliant for light systems and the multi-pane layout improves productivity no end IMHO. You'll leave the opposition standing!
    Quick queries so far:
    1) Can you re-order the listing of the Tools?
    2) In the filelist pane, the Open context menu has the entries Extract and Extract To. The default icons for these seem to be tap-extract and tap-extract-to respectively. Are these non-standard, because I have both Faenza and Gnome icons installed and they're not included, and not found elsewhere on my Arch + Openbox system.
    3) Is there some way to flag or colour the active pane or tab? (I see this is indicated by directory name in the window title, but it's not as striking or foolproof as a colour indication)
    Please keep up the (very) good work as long as you have the energy!
    Hi ninian - thanks for the positive feedback!  If those segfaults are reproducable, please file a ticket on them, and if it involves root, be sure to include what graphical su command you're using (in preferences|advanced).  The only problem I'm aware of is trying to open a new root window with ktsuss fails for me (but doesn't segfault) - haven't been able to figure out ktsuss's problem with this, but every graphical su has its own quirks.  If the segfaults aren't predictable, then any info you can give me would be helpful - I'm not seeing any of them.  That kind of report goes to the top of my list so I'll do my best to address them.
    > 1) Can you re-order the listing of the Tools?
    Yes, use View|Design Mode to cut a tool, then use it again on another command to paste it where you want.  You can paste it into any menu, not just Tools.
    > 2) In the filelist pane, the Open context menu has the entries Extract and Extract To
    To be honest I'm not sure where those icons came from, but the defaults are probably going to be changed anyway - I'd like to stick with stock gtk icons for the default to keep dependencies low, despite the lack of them.  You can change those icons to anything you want of course.
    > 3) Is there some way to flag or colour the active pane or tab?
    I'd like there to be - I'll see what I can find.  There is a dotted line focus border.  A gtk theme that makes active widgets noticeable is helpful too.  Also, by design spacefm tries to minimize the need to know which panel is active using context.  Except for inter-panel key shortcuts - then you need to know.
