Active window jumps to viewer window out of timeline for no reason

Active window jumps to viewer window out of timeline for no reason.  For example I will be editing in timeline and all of sudden I will try a keyboard shortcut but it will take effect in the viewer window and not in the timeline.  Is this something I am doing wrong?  This never happened in the last year I have been using FCPX until a few months ago it started happening.  Already tried trashing prefs, restarting, etc. etc.

Go to Window>Revert to Original Layout.
Trash FCP preferences.

  • Hello there, if i had installed a windows on bootcamp and for some reasons the windows had infected, does the mac gets infected or harmed? sorry im transforming from pc to mac and i just want to know .. thank you

if i had installed a windows on bootcamp and for some reasons the windows had infected, does the mac gets infected or harmed?

Yes, when you run Win via BootCamp, the computer is a "real" Windows computer and just as vulnerable as any other Windows machine. It its the operating system, not the hardware, that creates vulnerability.
However, it also means you basicaly have two independent computers that happen to share the same physical space. The Mac side, as others have said, is not vulnerable to assaults that are made on the Windows side, so do not go installing a pile of anti-virus garage on the Mac side. It is unneeded at this time and will basically ruin your Mac's performance. The Windows side WILL need some form of protection.

  • Office Communicator window keeps popping up for no reason

Has anyone seen an issue with Communicator (Office 2010) popping up from a minimized position for no reason.  The user is running Windows 7 and keeps Communicator minimized.  But the window pops up for no apparent reason throughout the day and
the user is not receiving a message from anyone.
If anyone has a solution, I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks very much.

    Hi,
Please go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features to repair the Installation of Office, check if the issue persists.
If the issue still exists, I suggest you perform a clean boot to determine whether background programs are interfering with Communicator:

  • How to view System.out.print() messages for adapters in OIM 9.0.3

I have created an adaptor for OIM from a java jar file. When that adaptor executes after some updates on tables it produces some execptions/error.
I can not see the details of these exceptions as I do not know where is the standard output located when adapter is executed via OIM.
Where cen I see output from my code lines that contain: System.out.println()?
    thanks

I am not sure if logging is enabled as OIM was installed previously by another person - how can I check if it is enabled and how to use log4j in this case?
OIM Design Console window shows no messages comming from my System.out.print() statements.

  • Movies/Videos stop playing in Windows 7 64-bit for no reason.

In the past couple of months, movies and videos played in iTunes from Windows 7 64-bit have begun stopping during playback for no apparent reason. iTunes does not crash, but this happens multiple times throughout playback requiring the movie/video to be restarted. This problem started with iTunes version 11. However, it does not appear to affect Windows 8.

    @Magic_Peter
Can you please advise where in the Registry you set the maxallowedzone to 1.
    Was it
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions
so that your CHM could run on a network drive?
I'm thinking that Adobe Reader 11 fixed the problem and the above was just to do with the location of the CHM. Does that sound right?

  • IPod seems to be running out of space for no reason

This seems like an odd problem. But I have a 2007 vintage iPod classic 80gb. And a little after the introduction on iTunes 10 it seems that my iPod is running out of adequate space to sync my podcasts. I haven't added any new songs to my syncing playlists, there's no video or photo syncing either so there's no extra data being added there. The only thing that changes is the number of podcasts that are syncing up. And I haven't changed or added to my subscriptions in a long time. But every morning it seems my iPod will sync fewer and fewer podcasts. I tell it to delete all watched/listened to podcasts so there's no residual there either. I did clear out one of my playlists a little to make room late last week and that helped. But this morning I tried syncing a half-dozen or so podcasts and it kept telling there wasn't enough free space. Is the hard drive getting bad? I've used it everyday since I got it so I'm wondering if it's showing it's age?

"Other" is the measure of used space on the iPod not taken up by Audio, Video & Photos. This includes the iPod's library and artwork plus any files you may have copied to your iPod in disk mode. The overhead for the library & artwork data is typically 1-2% of the size of the media, e.g. for 100Gb of Audio & Video expect to have around 1.5Gb of "Other". This information is needed for the iPod's operation and cannot be removed.
If you have significantly larger amounts of "Other", not related to files you've intentionally placed on the iPod, then these are probably disconnected copies of your media files or iPod libraries left over from failed sync operations. The only way to recover the space is to do a full restore.
If you have copies of all your media in your iTunes library this isn't a problem, but if you've been manually managing the content then you might need to try to recover the files from it first. See this post by Zevoneer on transferring files from the iPod to your computer. Some of the tools rely on the iPod having a healthy library however the manual method mentioned towards the end of the post should work regardless.

  • Digital out stopped working for no reason?

I have been using the digital out through an optical cable to my surround sound for quite a few months. Today I turned the machine on and the sound no longer comes through. The surround sound does not show a connected device.
I have checked the cable and surround sound device by plugging in another device that has optical out - this works fine. When I plug the optical cable into the back of the mini mac it lights up.
Does anyone have any ideas how this might suddenly stop working and if there is way to fix it? Is the output of the digital out affected by software updates (im running latest updates)?

    Hi.
Go to system preferences and then open sound. Click on the output tab and see what info you have under name. If you see Digital Out, it is hardware related (MLB) and needs service. Try to reset the SMC of the mini as well. Here's the steps:

  • Signing out of Gmail for security reasons?

Is there a way to sign out of my gmail account? Meaning, right now when I hit the mail button it launches straight to my open account. I am concerned about it being accessible to anyone who comes in contact with my phone. I want to be the only one that can check it. I don't see a way to make it ask me for my password. I know it will be a pain to type that in each time, but I would at least like the option of making my account more secure.

that doesn't help when someone picks up your phone to play with it or see it works. once they are in they can see everything including messages that they should not see. it would be nice to be able to log out of email or for the email app to give the option of asking for a password.

  • My IPad logs me out of apps for no reason. Why?

My IPad closes out apps while I am using them. How do I correct this? It has all upgrades available downloaded.

Close all apps and reset your iPad.
In order to close apps in iOS 5 or iOS 6, first tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
Closing apps in iOS 7 works like this. Drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Photoshop CS4 Help Window Pops Up For No Reason

This same thing was happening in Photoshop CS3 and I could never figure out why. I figured that since CS4 was coming out, I would buy it, stop using CS3 and the problem would be solved, well it's not. So far, I'm happy with the new program but for some reason, out of nowhere, while working on a photo, the Photoshop Help window (which opens as a web browser window) will pop up for no reason! Today, it popped up over 6 or 7 times and I nearly had to crash the program to get it to stop. I figured this problem would have been solved with the new version since the same thing was happening in CS3 but it hasn't. I'm running a Windows XP-based machine that I built myself about 2 years ago. I have a 512mb ATI Raedon X1650 video card and have 4GB of RAM so this machine has far more than enough power to run the program. I updated my video and mouse drivers prior to installing the program. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks for pointing that out. It really happens very rarely, but when it happens, it's quite a huge annoyance.
Well I have about 3,5GB RAM on a Windows Vista 32 Bit system (hence just 3,5 instead of the full 4GB), with the OpenGL options activated, and maybe over 100GB of free HD space (that'll never be a problem, but since swapping is not used by all modules, I often bump into RAM problems when using tools like auto-aligning layers or stitching panoramas) and 2,5Ghz core duo on a notebook. The Windows swap file is also "just" 4GB...but I found more than 4GB to be a bit extreme.
RAM usage is set to 56% right now (916MB), cache levels is set to 6
After restart, everything runs fine again, I hope the help screens leave me alone.
I didn't know this is since v. 7! I worked with all versions since 5.0 and since becoming a freelancer also bought every version since 6.0 except 7. I only experienced this bug in this and the previous version. Maybe my hardware doesn't keep pace with PS anymore

  • Trying to print a book with Aperture 2.1.4, everything went well until the final step "uploading files to server" -- it's been spinning for an hour, "status" still reads 0%, "pause task" and "cancel task" buttons are grayed out in Activity window.

  • How can I view 2 active windows within a program simultaneously?

Using Windows programs on a PC, I could often use the "Window" menu to access the commands (something like) "Tile Vertical" or "Tile Horizontal" to view 2 active windows within a program on the screen simultaneously with a click or 2 of the mouse. I am finding that with a Mac I must manually resize and position 2 active windows to view them simultaneously. Am I missing something or is the manual method my only option? Thank you so much for any suggestions.

Yes, it's the only built-in option. There are several third-party window managers that provide the type of functionality you are looking for. You can find them at CNet Downloads or MacUpdate. For example,
    Window Tiles
    FlexiGlass
There are others with varying types of features and options.

  • Lost feature viewing all active windows

    MacBook, Yosemite
Just upgraded to 10.10.2. Used to be able to see all the active windows in Words, for example, by pointing the mouse to the lower right corner. Don't know what that feature is called, so can't find instructions.
I checked for "multiple screen" display, but I get the message: "The Arrangement tab of Displays preferences is hidden because you only have a single display attached to this computer." so I assume that's not it...
    Thanks!

    Hello LinaOdi,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're looking for the Hot Corners feature. You can find this setting by choosing Apple menu > System Preferences, then clicking Mission Control. Look for the Hot Corners button in the lower left corner of the window.
You can set your preferred hot corner to "Application Windows" to see all windows of a single application, or "Mission Control" to see windows for all the open apps on your Mac.
Check out this link for more help with Mission Control:

  • Scroll bar goes crazy and active window jumps around in size - Help

I've got iTunes 7.0.5 installed. If I use iTunes for any length of time, my system goes crazy. The scroll bar on whatever program I make active goes up and down like mad, while the content of the active window shrinks and magnifies in size multiple times a second. It's very bizarre and consistently happens only when I run iTunes for some length of time. I have no problem if I choose Windows Media Player. It's very disturbing, as I can no longer use iTunes. Any help in knowing how to fix the problem, or even to trouble shoot it further, would be greatly appreciated.

Here are a couple of thoughts on the Timeline scrolling and other possible display issues:
1.) make sure that you have the very latest video driver - the very latest
2,) if you have Vista, turn Aero and Sidebar off
3.) if you have Window Blinds, get the very latest version
4.) if you have an InteliPoint mouse driver, try removing it, and using the standard Windows mouse driver instead*
5.) if you have a laptop and both the touch-pad and a mouse are installed and ON, turn the touch-pad OFF
These are some suggestions that might affect your display issues.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
    * The MS InteliPoint has caused many display issues with Adobe products. Most often, these have manifested themselves in flashing GUI's and similar, but other odd behaviors have been experienced. If the removal of InteliPoint does help, try the very latest version, but be ready to revert to the standard Windows mouse driver.

  • Cs4 - which window out of 20 is active?

I have installed and started using CS4. Dell vostro 400 Windows xp 32 bit intel core2duo E6850 3GB of Ram. Nvidia Geforce 8600GTS Driver version downloaded last week: 6.14.11.7824
In CS3 the active window had a blue border at the top so if you had 20 windows open, you could always quickly see the active window. In CS4 all the windows are gray at the top. Can't tell easily which one is active. Any reasonable explanation for this 'improvement'? Any way to change it back the way it was prior to being improved?
    And another thing .....
There is a drag lag. When dragging an image across the screen, it appears in two places at once for a second. Uncool. No drag lag in CS3.
There is a zoom lag. Unlike the instantaneous zoom of CS3, there is a zoom lag of a second or so. Uncool.
There is a mysterious gray line that keeps appearing across the top menu bar. Uncool
I also have a 10 month old Dell 1330 laptop running XP that I use for photoshop a lot. Nvidia refers me to Dell for video drivers. Dell will update the XP video driver on this laptop the day after hell freezes over. Is this laptop now a door stop as far as funtioning properly with Cs4? CS3 works well on the laptop.
I like photoshop. I want improvements, but please don't obsolete hardware that I just bought.
Perhaps I am looking at this the wrong way. Adobe : What hardware actually works well with CS4? Maybe that is the best way of looking at this. With each new CS release, Adobe could just tell us precicesly what hardware to buy and we can trash our current machines and buy whatever they tell us will work. Naaaaaaaaahhhhhh.

Mark, I'm seeing some of the issues you describe. Namely, drag lag, the gray line through the top bar, etc.
On the zoom lag, I think it's intended behavior if you're talking about the continuous zoom. If you click on it briefly, it will go to the next zoom level; if you click and hold it will zoom continuously.
I have several major problems with this release and will wait patiently while Adobe works on a fix...
