Active X bringing a graph from excel to LV

Is there a way to display an excel graph in labview. not just data but actual graph with functionality like rollover display. I feel like this could be done with active x but im not sure how to get it done.

Hi Triff,
It does not look like you are able to. With Excel I would recommend getting the data and regraphing it in LabVIEW. Here is another forum post that has as similar question to yours.
As for getting the data, here is an example also. You can then create a graph using LabVIEW.

The Goal: To copy a graph from Excel (mac 2011) and paste it into Illustrator cs6 as a vector graphic.
The graph's vector and layout is okay. Yet, the text / copy is jumbled text:

In Excel, right click and choose Format Chart Area. In the dialog at the left, choose Fonts. Change the font to Arial or something other than Calibri (Theme Body). Then copy/paste.

Labview graph from excel data

Hello,
I need some help. I have data in excel The first column is a timestamp and the other columns are the data needed.and I am trying to get a graph with multiple plots with these data.
attached here are the excel file and a labview file. In the labview file, the top part is an example I got from the forum, an interesting graph I am trying to follow.
The bottow part is my tentative to extract the data from excel into array and try to use it. but I am stuck here. Any help please!

Display graphs from excel data

Hi,
I have the data in Excel(sample.xls). there are 2 columns of data. I want to read the data from excel and display in the form of XY graph (x-axis -one column of data and Y-axis one coumn of data).
can anyone please provide the VI for this or else give me procedure how to do this.

Thanx for your reply. I will clarify what my concern is i need to display the graph with two columns(A-column as X-axis and B-column as Y-axis). I understand that Bijay provided example for waveform graph,and that is working for sample 3 data. when i use the same example for the different data like sample 1 which i am attaching below is not working. so i have tried to create the vi that will display the XY-graph instead of waveform graph. Still i am unable to display the graph. I will be attaching the VI i have tried. So anyone please help me to modify my vi to display as XY graph and make it work for the samples data i have provided in sample1.

Is there a way to allow users to paste in a graph from Excel into a textfield?

I have not seen this capability, wondering if it is possible. Users of my form will need to past in a graph they created in Excel as part of the write-up they will discuss in a textfield. Barring that, is there a way to identify an image object that the user can populate at run time, associating a JPG they select to be embedded into the form as opposed to attached to the form?
This form will have digital signatures so form attachments will not be possible. I can default to a portfolio and have the user drop in the Excel sheet, etc., but it would be nice if they could type up info in to the textfield and drop in an image into the same textfield.

In my experience, the biggest problem is most users are not aware of how to attach files as comments. There's a specific tool for this in the "Comments > Annotations" panel in Acrobat/Reader 10/11 (paperclip icon). Previous versions are different. So it's a good idea to provide instructions. I will usually include a button that when clicked will provide instructions in a popup, tailoring them to the version of Reader/Acrobat being used. This is done with a relatively simple JavaScript.

Creating graphs in illustrator - from Excel

Currently we're having issues with building graphs in Illustrator CS4. We drag the Excel graph from Excel to illustrator then recreate the graph ie click on the lines - make black, or another colour - fill bar graphs with other colours etc - Apple Mac 10.6.4 the programme keep crashing

Try printing to a PDF and openeing that in Illustrator. You’ll still need to clean up the blacks, but the transfer should be less crash-prone.

Bug? Unable to clear the graph from the timeline keyframe editor

Hello all, here's a first post from an FCP newbie.
While playing around with time remapping, I activated the Keyframe editor in the timeline (Option-T) and activated the Time Remap graph from its context menu. It promptly got a checkmark next to it.
After I was done, I was surprised to find that I was unable to deactivate the graph. Re-clicking the Time Remap > Time Graph item in the context menu does nothing: the checkmark stays there and the graph stays there. Selecting any other graph overwrites the current one and places the checkmark on the new graph, but this new graph exhibits the same symptoms as the previous one. There seems to be no way to simply clear the clip's keyframe editor from all graphs.
Has anyone else run into this?
The version of Final Cut Pro I'm running is 5.1.1.

Try first reinstall the firmware. it problem persist, perhaps a software reset can solve this or hard reset? LOL..my standard answer tonight.

Is there a solution for graphs that do not translate from Excel to PDF?

We are working on an Excel Spreadsheet with graphs but when we create a PDF of the sheet the graph does not contain the ledger or values. Is there a solution to this problem. We have tried both printing to PDF and exporting to PDF.

Just a note: If you want to print the PDF to paper, it may still not print correctly even though it looks correct on the PDF document- the printed graph may flow off of the paper sheet. When you click Print, a print dialog box opens with some options and a preview. If the preview does not look correct, change the size option to "Shrink oversized pages".

Import of activity list from Excel sheet.

Dear all,
I have configered PS module and is working fine.
I have some existing data of activities in Excel sheets. Which are around 2000 activies for every project.
I want to directly imports these activiteis from Excel sheet to SAP activity list.
IS there any method by with I can upload these activities from Excel file directly.

Whenever I copy/paste from web or Word it removes the hyperlinks. And when I try to do it by "Place"ing a Word document into my InDesign project it keeps the formatting with it, the rectangles around the text.
I have the latest version of InDesign.
Any help is appreciated.

Copy-and-paste may not include formatting. A regular import using Place is the best way.
The rectangles around the hyperlinks are just to indicate they are links -- they do not print, but they do show up in your PDF.
You can remove them by double-clicking the hyperlink in the Hyperlinks panel and select "Invisible Rectangle" as type.
Typically, Word hyperlinks are formatted -- blue text, underline -- with a Character Style. If you want to remove or change the formatting, all you have to do is change the character style. My experience, though, is you must check all hyperlinks because for no apparent reason sometimes they appear in the document without the character style.

The standard Excel Insert Graph.vi cannot insert multiple XY Graphs to Microsoft Excel, so you will need to use the Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office. You will find a link to an example program at the bottom of the page. I have also attached it below.

Can we drag table from excel to form graphs on Keynotes?

I am used to drag tables that I create on excel to form charts on powerpoint.
Will I be able to do so on keynote. I do not wish to duplicate my efforts on excel .
Also, is there smart graphics equivalent on Keynotes too?

Another method to import Excel file is using DDE, its advantage is that it does not need to install the ODBC driver.

I want the user to press a button and import data from Excel into a temp Oracle table.
Is this possible and how do I do it?
If this is possible, how can I programmatically update the permanent table with the
data in the temp table based on the field name (such as budget_line_number)
instead of a static value (such as '12345') in the where clause. I.E, I want to write code like:
UPDATE budget_table --- this is the permanent table
SET all fields in the permanet table
where budget_line_number = budget_line_number --from the temporary table

Import from Excel-columns to Keynote doesn't work

I want to import data from Excel to Keynote in order to make a graph.
The data are like
20,23
20,45
19,49
20,89
(Americans would use 20.23 and so on, but that's not the point in this case).
When I mark the column and copy it to Keynote, the numbers are
20
20
19
20
I need the data after the comma as well. I tried to change the data in Excel from 20,23 to 20.23 but then it reads in Keynote like 2023.
Does anyone have a clue what the solution might be? I cannot find an answer in the manual.

Nono, I was NOT writing about Excel. I just tried it myself.
Please try the following steps:
1) Create a new Keynote-Presentation (I chose the Black-theme).
2) Create a new slide.
3) Insert a table (default number of rows etc.)
4) Select the table.
5) Open Inspector.
6) Select the Tables tab.
There are two subtabs/buttons, one is named "Table" (Tabelle) and one
"Format" (Format)
7) Select "Format".
There you will find a selector for the format of the cells. he default is
"automatic".
8) Select "Number" (Zahl) or "scientific" (wissenschaftlich). THEN a new field named "decimals" will
open
9) put in "2".
10) Go to your Excel-table/worksheet.
11) Select the cells you want to copy. Copy!
12) Go back to the Keynote-file. Normally the table should still be selected/
active. If not: select it.
13) Paste your data into the table.
Voila: when I tried myself, the table was exactly looking like you wanted it to: 20,23 etc.

Xy graph in excel using activeX

Hi
I am trying to plot a XY graph in excel using Active X. I have two coloums of data one should be X the other should be Y. I am using XlXYscattersmooth graph type and giving the range as A1 to B5. But when the excel plots it, I am getting two series rather of X data points rather than XY. I know I am doing a simple mistake in choosing some variable but I am not able to figure out where I am going wrong.
Can anybody please look at my code and correct the code in order to get a XY plot rather than getting two different series.

Changing the Size of generated graph in excel report generation toolkit

Hi, i am trying to build a report generation vi for my Structural health monitoring system in which i need to export 3 graphs in to an excel report. The idea is to have the report on a single page, but when i paste them along with the ceiling and pillar deviation percentages, the report just exceeds the page limit. I wanted to know whether one can change the size of the graphs in excel? One can do it in word(tried that), but i dont want to use the bookmark option as it intend to put this up as a webservice in the next step. I am using LabVIEW 2009 Thanks.

Hi,
I haven't tried this myself, but looking through the report generation toolkit the "Excel format image VI" (in the Excel specific tab of the Report Genertaion window) looks to be the one you are after. The help entry for the VI says to: "Use this VI to format any type of image in a worksheet, including front panel images, images from a file, and graphs"
