ActiveSync Subfolder Support

Every Windows Mobile phone I have ever used supported the ability to automatically check subfolders, in addition to the inbox, for new mail. For this reason, my company uses extensive rules for auto-arranging incoming mail into subfolders. We are terribly disappointed to discover the iPhone does not [as-of-yet] support this enterprise-vital feature.
Please help correct this by submitting a request here:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
Even if you've done it before, take a moment and do it again. The iPhone is a fantastic device, but it cannot and will not be taken seriously by most enterprises until features like this get implemented.
Thank you in advance.

Hi
Well I'm currently testing the new (beta) version of NotifySync which now does include HTML ;-)
I use NotifySync for my main company mailbox and BIS messages for my other (personal) accounts. The beauty of NotifySync is the true folder mirroring that you get against your company ActiveSync server. I dont mind my personal accounts in another program icon. I can keep them separate.
Also I assign the left hand convenience button (normally used for Voice Command) to NotifySync and move the NotifySync icon to the top left hand corner which means it will always appear in the short desktop mode.
You are right about year 1 pricing but year 2 is half of what you stated. Year 2 plus pricing is to cover support and maintenance releases.
Hope this helps
Best Wishes

  • Can't Sync My iPAQ - Activesync Error support code 85010014

Very frustrating. I just installed the connector, and now ActiveSync 3.5 gives me the error above. It tries to sync and then stops cold. We have Outlook 2003. I have deleted partnerships, profiles, etc., but nothing seems to work.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • How do I convince my IT dept to support exchange on my iPhone?

I work for a large non-profit social services agency in New York City. We use Exchange Server 2003 for our corporate email. Our IT dept just manages to keep everything running and is notoriously slow at making changes or fixing problems (they've been known to leave accounts of employees who've left the company active for months after they've left).
My particular part of the company runs a scatter site housing program. Because its scatter-site I spend 70%+ of my time in the field. I got an iPhone about a week after I started and its been incredibly helpful in a variety of ways. I can obviously access my Exchange Webmail through safari but it is incredibly slow and tedious, and its impossible to view attachments to emails.
It would be amazing if I could use the mail app on the iPhone to view my mail, and I asked one of the IT guys if they could set up exchange access for my iPhone. After a few weeks and half a dozen emails, IT said that they "couldn't figure it out." Since 3.0 came out last week, I decided to ask again, and the response was "We only provide support for BlackBerry at this point both IMAP and POP3 are turned off."
Anyway, i think one of the reasons they are so restrictive is because most of our programs are bound under a federal law called HIPAA to maintain total confidentiality about all of our clients. I think this is also why Outlook only seems to be available if you are on the company intranet (which my office is not, another pain). And as mentioned, IMAP and POP3 are turned off.
I guess basically my question is, how secure is the exchange connection with iPhone, and how easily can it be implemented? and once that is established, for what legitimate reasons (if any) might my IT dept not want to activate ActiveSync but support BlackBerry?
And finally, is there any good argument I could use to convince them to implement it? I personally know of at least 4 other employees who use iPhones (and I don't know all that many people in the company)
    Thanks In Advance

In order to access an Exchange account with a Blackberry, a company must pay RIM for access to their Blackberry Enterprise Server, which is on an annual basis and I understand is not cheap.
Microsoft includes ActiveSync access with the Exchange server software, which doesn't cost a company anything extra, nor does it cost a company anything extra when accessing an Exchange account via ActiveSync with an iPhone. Apple licensed ActiveSync from Microsoft for use with the iPhone's Mail client. Your company must pay RIM in order to access an Exchange account with a Blackberry.

  • E71x Mail for Exchange search or find

    Hello,
I just moved from a Windows Mobile device to the e71x and can't seem to figure out how to search for or find an e-mail within Mail for Exchange. Is this even possible? If not, are there 3rd. party apps that would let me?

  • Enriching Gmail with features in Mail accounts!!!

    Hi,
I was just comparing the options one can get in Setting up Yahoo and Gmail accounts in Mail in Iphone... Yahoo offers you contacts and Reminders(ios5) but Gmail doesn't.... I mean is there a way to sync contacts and 'to do' list with google??? Pls improve in next  update!!
    (Yahoo includes Contacts and Reminders)

Consider using Exchange ActiveSync rather than the default IMAP when configuring your Gmail account.  Google recommends this, branded as Google Sync. Google Sync does not support everything but does support mail, contacts, and calendars.  Contact Google to request support for additional items such as Tasks/Reminders.

  • "Over 100 New Features List" ??

Ever since the release of IOS4, I have heard the term "over 100 new features" thrown around, yet I can not find an official list of these features. Does anybody know where an official list can be found with each feature number listed out? I feel like it is just a hype term they have used, but it isn't documented anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Script to rename files that have similar names?

    Hi, folks.
I have my  RAW files in one folder and my derivative images (e.g., PSDs, TIFFs,  JPEGs) in another.  The derivative files only share the last four digits  of the RAW file names (e.g., the RAW file is named 100826-14278.CR2 but  the JPEG version is only named 4278.JPG).  Also, the derivative files  have no metadata.
Is there a way to use a script to match all the  derivatives to the RAW files based on the last four digits, then change their file names  to match the RAW names.  And, if that's possible, can Bridge then  cascade the metadata minus the camera data EXIF from the RAW files to  the derivative files?
    Thanks!
    -Greg
P.S. My knowledge of scripting stops with cursive handwriting, so please be gentle.

  • View multiple Calenders from Phone

    Hey All
I have looked at everything I can find and looked through the history on here and other forums.
I have just upgraded all my staff phones at work to the Nokia 520 so that staff can access their Emails and Calendars. That part is easy and the phones are set up and going well. But!
We need to be able to see each others calendars like we can on our PC's so we make a booking at check that it doesn't conflict with other staff members.
We gain access through a mail exchange server so I am not sure if that is causing me an issue?
Any help or guidance will be welcome! Thanks

    Hi,
Agreed with Diane. Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync lets devices synchronize with your Inbox, your calendar, and other items that have Microsoft Exchange Server mailboxes. But Exchange active sync only allows the one to one connection, we can't open a shared
    company calendar as yours.
Additionally, it is not recommended to use third-party devices with ActiveSync service to manage user mailbox calendar. We can manage it from either OWA or Outlook. There are some issues with third-party devices that synchronize with Exchange by using Exchange
    ActiveSync:

The iPhone supports over the air syncing for contact info and calendar events with an Exchange account, which is made available by Apple licensing ActiveSync from Microsoft for the iPhone. An Exchange account must be accessed on the iPhone via ActiveSync for this which also requires ActiveSync being supported and enabled on the Exchange served for the Exchange account.
The iPhone also supports over the air syncing for contact info and calendar events with an Apple MobileMe account/service.

  • GMS 2 and S/MIME?

    Hello,
I've activated S/MIME on my iPhone with iOS 8.1.2 and it's not working. When using S/MIME with Thunderbird that uses SMTP/IMAP against GW it works fine.
Is there some special configuration that needs to be performed on the GMS server for S/MIME to work?

    Hello
I can't open email sent from iOS if S/MIME is used and I use ActiveSync. If
I switch to SMTP/IMAP then it works fine.
    This is quite old:
    http://www.novell.com/documentation/...e.html#br7w1q8
    4.10S/MIME Not Supported
S/MIME is not currently supported by the Mobility Connector. You can open
encrypted messages in GroupWise, but not on your mobile device.
Same info on this page from 2012:
    https://www.novell.com/documentation...4.html#br7w1q8
So my guess it's the same in the latest GMS version.

  • I/T says iphones won't work

Our company uses A,T & T with blackberry curves that sync mail to our laptops. (I'm not that technical, as I'm a corp. sales trainer). I'd love to get an iphone 3Gs, 32 gig, but my I/T dept says they wouldn't work. I'm told we would need a new server. We use enterprise software. Would the iphone work on our system without too much work?

Your IT department may be using the company line and it may have been the companies decision to support one mobile platform. This is not rare, and is makes sense from the utilization of resources and time involved in support.
But, you did not say what e-mail / collaboration platform you are using at work.
Microsoft Exchange is supported on the iPhone through a server based version of ActiveSync.
Novell GroupWise is not supported at all as far as I know, except maybe via IMAP.
Lotus Domino / Notes is currently supported via a web interface, however, by the end of the summer a new version of the Traveler service in the Domino server will also use ActiveSync to support the iPhone.
So again, while your IT departments answer is accurate, you may not know the reasoning behind the answer.

  • E75 synchronising subfolders

I have set up push email for exchange server on my mobile and it works perfectly.  However, I cannot seem to access the subfolders in my inbox.  Within outlook, I have cabinet folders set up which have rules set to store emails in the appropriate subfolder.  Is it a limitation of mfe for nokias that subfolders can't be viewed?  Is there any way to do so at all??

If the folder is below the Inbox, you should be able to see the folder in question - if it's on the same level as the Inbox and it isn't a standard folder, you will not be able to see it.
The E75 introduces a new version of MFE that gives subfolder support.
If you are not happy with MFE, you can also download and install RoadSync by DataViz. Sadly, the support for subfolders is exactly the same as the E75 MFE - you will not gain access to new subfolders.

  • Enhanced gmail plug-in

Ok I have been trying to get the gmail plug-in to work on my tour. its runnng 5.0.419 and I have downloaded the plugin straight from blackberry. I first delete my gmail acct from the phone, then re-add it, then it asks if I want to sync with my account/contacts, I hit yes and then says the activation has started.
Its my contacts complete but then it just pauses for ever. What can be the issue?
" if you can't weather a storm, then you shouldn't have one"

I dont believe its available on the Z10 as IMAP and ActiveSync both support folders(lables)

  • ActiveSync support!

I am relatively new as a Blackberry (BB) user, and must say that I am a convert.  I can easily say that my productivity has increased tremendously, and others in my company have noticed as well.  That being said, the only show stopper as far as others in my company are concerned is the lack of ActiveSync support.  From the looks of the forum threads, it appears that this is a hot topic filled with all sorts of work-arounds and kludges.
I work for a small company that has an exchange server but has no desire (nor ability) to add BES support (even the free version).  We don't have an IT department, and rely upon an outside consultant to manage the Exchange for us whenever something goes wrong, which is very seldom.  I can sync my inbox via OWA, but not my sent mail, so when I’m away from the office I can’t refer to my sent mail at all.  If someone adds an appointment to my calendar at work, I don’t know about it until I get back to the office and sync my BB to the Desktop Manager running on my PC with a cable.
So what is a user like me supposed to do?  If you look at the forums on various BB sites such as Crackberry.com, there are a myriad of suggestions including getting third party software such as AstraSync and BBerrySync which cost approximately $50/year (because they use a server to provide the syncing) – and many have reported issues, etc. with these products.  Or I can subscribe to an external BES provider and pay a monthly fee to them and pay AT&T another $15/month extra for BES service – no thanks.  Or I can download several Google products and sync away to my heart’s content – but then you have Outlook syncing to Gmail and then the BB syncing to Gmail which is once again putting a third party (albeit a free third party) in the middle, but it sure seems like a lot of extra steps.  Plus, that only addresses the contacts and calendar and not the sent mail issue or tasks.
Why go through all of this when ActiveSync can solve the problem?  Before I became a BB convert, I had a WinMo device and really didn’t think that BB wouldn’t have this capability since other manufacturers had ActiveSync and BB had OWA access to mail via BIS.  Not all of us can work for larger companies that have deployed BES.  Some have made the comment that support of ActiveSync would be against BB’s philosophy and potentially reduce BES sales.  I really don’t understand that, since BB is now moving to a more consumer oriented focus in order to expand their base, there is a significant chunk of the marketplace that would benefit from having ActiveSync capabilities.  I would say that those companies that have bought into the BES philosophy (remote wipe, security, provisioning, control, etc.) would still use BES.  But those companies, such as the one I work for, that do not have the need for the same level of security would benefit from having their employees have more access to their Outlook Exchange data (mail, calendar, & contacts) without having to be burdened with the cost and support of BES.  Just using my company as an example, I am the only person in the company that has this issue since all of the other users are WinMo, Nokia, or iPhone users. [Side note here – the arch enemy iPhone can do this but not cut & paste, but really, isn’t ActiveSync more important.]  Like it or not, there are more users of Exchange without BES than with BES, and RIM would not be making a philosophical concessions by having an ActiveSync client available to those users that wanted it, or are willing to pay for the application.
Well, that’s my two cents worth….. Thanks for listening ……  And I am open to any and all comments and suggestions.

    Best Wishes
