Activesynch and public folders

New to Z10. Presume Activesynch will syn with my personal mail, contacts, taks and calendar. Does anyone know if this will also work with Public Folders or does this only work with BES? We only have three users so don't really want to go through the hassle of setting up a BES Server.
Thanks
Chris

Good Evening Chris,
Unfortunately activesynch does not support Public Folders nor does BES10. All other personal items will get synched with no problems.
Also you might want to take a look at Codetwo, I have never used it but I have heard good success with people being able to set public folder synch with it.
http://www.codetwo.com/exchange-folder-sync/
Hope that helps.

  • Difference between shared and public folders

I know this may be a simple question, but can anyone tell me the difference between the shared folder and the public folder? To me, they both seem to serve the same purpose and work in the same way.
    Thanks

    Hi Will,
Search for 'keep shared files' in the Mac Help on
your computer. The descriptions there should hopefuly
    clear things up.
    Hope that helps.
    iBod,
I know it has been a long time since you responed to this, but I am just getting around to revisiting it. The descriptions make the shared and public folders seem to be different, but in use they appear to function in an identical manner. Is there really any difference in the way they work? If not, why bother having two specialty folders that do the same thing?
    Thanks,

  • Extract all "business fax" phone numbers from all users contacts and public folders

    Hello,
I'm looking for any method to be able to extract "business fax" phone numbers from every user's contact list and public folders contacts.
Is this possible, perhaps with PowerShell?
We are using Exchange 2010, but this forum posting site only lets me choose Exchange 2013.   Is Exchange 2010 still supported?

I recevied a reply from the Script Center, telling me to post in the Exchange Developer forums.
From the Exchange Developer forums I received replies that basically told me I need to figure this out myself and they are not a free consulting service.   Here are the exact words....
    Reply:
You need to understand that either you have to try to learn Exchange and scripting or you need to search for solutions.
In most cases with EX2010 there are many utilities build into the EMS that can do almost anything you need however, you need to learn Exchange to be able to even know what to ask for,  This is not a free consulting forum.  It is a forum for
professionals who use scripting in their work or who are currently learning how to use scripts.
If you are basically versed in Exchange you wil know that the EX2010 home site has all of the resource links.  You should always start there.
You need to either get a good book on Exchange administration or sign up for a class in Exchange.  It is not possible to guess at how to manage an Exchange installation.  Exchange is one of the most complex system Microsoft has ever created.
It may even be more complex that MSSQLServer.  You must be trained at some minimum level to work effectively with Exchange.

  • Exchange Mail Setup and Public Folders

V1.01 effected some changes in how the iPhone interacts with an Exchange server. Unfortunately, in my case, they were not positive changes.
In V1.00 the iPhone would create three folders - Inbox, Deleted Items, and Sent Items in the local mailbox. It would ignore most other folders created on the Exchange server such as Calendar, Notes, Spam, and Public folders to name a few.
In V1.01 the iPhone now processes all the folders on the Exchange server. If I have twenty folders on my Exchange account, all those folders appear on my iPhone. Okay, that is acceptable. However ALL Public folders are now being downloaded to the iPhone as well. NOT okay!
I now have hundreds of public folders sitting on my iPhone that I do not want there. After discussing this with some IT guys, the finger seems to be pointing at a broken implementation of IMAP on the iPhone, specifically its inability to define subscriptions - delecting or deselcting folders for populating locally on the iPhone.
I hope this issue can be addressed, and of course true direct push email implemented for Exchange email accounts.

    Hi Paul,
I replied to a post from you in another thread. It's easy to miss though, so here's what I said:
"You should tell mail2web that there is an option in Exchange to hide public folders from IMAP clients. I'm an IT manager at a large software company with 50% of our users on Macs. We turned on the option to hide public folders from IMAP clients a while ago, long before the iPhone. It's worked very well and continues to work for iPhone people (like me!).
There was no reason for us to make public folders viewable via IMAP, so hopefully the same will be true for mail2web."
I'm actually really glad that Apple made this change. I want to see most of the folders at the inbox level in Exchange and with the Exchange switch turned on to hide public folders, there's no downside.

  • Outlook personal and public folders via Entourage?

I'm the only Mac user in my company and for the most part, this relatively new transition has been seamless. The only tricky part has been with personal and public folders that are currently in Outlook - I can't see them in Entourage. Instead of having an intranet, we have all of our policies, forms, procedures, and general (corporate) information in Public Folders, and then our email accounts are limited and we're instructed to use Personal Folders for any emails that need to be kept longer than 60 days.
Has anyone else run into this, and if so, were you able to find a solution?
    Many thanks,
    Sabrina

I thought Entourage WAS an Apple product.
Nope. M$ product. Always has been.
why we chose to use Entourage instead of Mail in the first place
Possibly because it's closer to Outlook in "feel" and is somewhat easier to configure from an IT perspective (i.e. they don't have to do anything to get Entourage to communicate with an MS Exchange server).
Mail can be configured to work with an Exchange server, either by having IMAP support enabled on the server side, or by configuring mail to access the OWA (Outlook Web Access) server. Your IT group should be able to help there (note that "should" does not necessarily mean "will!).
    Hope this helps...

  • Exchange Online Protection and Public Folders

    Hi,

  • CFexchange and public folders

Using CF8, I currently can access mailboxes and folders in my
exchange information store except for folders in the public store.
Does anyone know how to access information in the public folders
using CF8's exchange tags. More specifically a public calendar.
    Thanks.

I've wrestled with this quite a bit and the only means I've
found to access public folders is via cfldap. I'm a complete ldap
noob so I'm not sure how to pull records out with LDAP but during
my research I discovered that I can "see" the public folders in AD.
I just haven't figured out how get the UIDs for them.

  • SL, Exchange and public folders

Hi, has someone found a way how to see public folders, calendars?
all the rest works sweet and fine.

No. I think we have to wait for a future release of Mail.app,
The EWS protocol used by Mail.app can handle public folders (as seen in Entourage 2008 Web Service Edition), but until now Apple does not support it. I even tried to create a additional Exchange IMAP account, but Exchange 2007 does not support public folder access via IMAP. Exchange 2003 supports it, but does not support EWS.
End of the story for now.

  • Client-side GW integr.: access other folder than "inbox" and public folders

    Hello,
in our current project the call center employees should work only with the CRM web UI. MS outlook client should run in background, however, they want to access the necessary data out of the CRM UI.
Thus, it would be possible to access other folders than the "inbox". In CRM UI, one is able to transfer e-mails from the MS outlook inbox to CRM including the creation of an activity. However, you can only access the inbox folder, not any other folder, like a subfolder of the inbox folder. Now in the call center mails are routed automatically into subfolders due to dispatching of incoming requests.
Second thing would be to access MS outlook public folders out of the CRM web UI since some kind of knowledge base things are stored there company-wide.
Many thanks for your help & kind regards
    Wolfgang

Not answerted actually, but no further inputs received.

  • Snow Leopard Mail 4.4, Exchange Server, and Public Folders

I'm still confused about Apple's claim for the advantages of the Snow Leopard Mail program being of such significance to Corporate usage when it does not appear to support access to Public Folders when using an Exchange 2007 (or 2010) profile. Within a Corporate environment, Public Folders are one of the benefits for using Exchange.
    Am I missing something?

    JL,
What you are missing is the exchange! You can check your e-mail in an Exchange account, but you just can't "exchange" anything with others. I can't for the life of me figure out why such a fundamental feature was left out. While Apple is certainly capable of ignoring a feature like this, Microsoft itself has said that the days of public folders are numbered. I think that since Exchange has become more of a standard rather than proprietary, Microsoft prefers to cripple it in favor of something (Sharepoint) that will be proprietary. Why have something simple, that works, when you can complicate it with something new!
The best I can tell, there is no support for public folders in mail.app for Snow Leopard. However, I can't really find a post that firmly states that. There seems to have been support for public folders in the past (pre-Snow) through IMAP. I'm not really sure how that worked, but I've already upgraded, so it's too late for me.
I'd be happy to hear a firm explanation of this from someone from Apple (or otherwise connected).
    Good Luck, Jack

  • File Sharing and Public Folders

I'm trying to share iTunes files (and hopefully) other folders with the other user on my iMac. I placed my music in the public folder and (as far as I can tell) set it up to share. The other user still can't see or access the folders. Is there some file sharing secret I don't know?

The method described by David is how I have been sharing my iTunes music folder with other users on my Mac (with the iTunes library file remaining in my iTunes folder).
It works pretty well, but you do have to remember to occasionally tell iTunes to 'Add to Library', selecting the iTunes music folder in the Shared folder. This then updates the library so it will show new music added. The AppleScript "Super Remove Dead Tracks" is also useful - if you run it in all accounts accessing the shared music folder, it will keep iTunes database listing accurate.
However, i had read that any folder can now be made a share folder in Leopard. How is this done so that other users can access my iTunes music folder, reading and writing music to it? At the moment, i have used System Prefs to make the iTunes music folder (now temporarily moved back to its default location) a share folder. The problem is, there seems to be no way to see it from the other account…

  • Office 365 contacts and public folders

Hi all, I am looking for some help with Office 365, detailed below:
We have a CRM system that emails in multiple contacts meant for particular users within the organisation, and we are looking for how to get these contacts automatically added to particular users contacts lists behind the scenes, this will need to be automated
with no input other than initial setup required. Does Office 365 have the capability to manage this.
If you require any more information, please let me know.
Thanks in advance for any advice or assistance.

    Hi,
I'm not aware of such an automatic way to have these contacts added to particular users' Contacts folders. The workaround is to import these contacts from a .csv file, but you need to do this manually for several times. Or we can send the .csv file via an
email to the particulars, then let them import these contacts by themselves.

It's recommended to download and install
Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office

  • Hide sys , home and public folders in FTP

    Hi,
    Using Oracle 11g.
I need to create a user account that when is accessing the XML DB using FTP it can only see a pre defined folder.
All default folders (sys, public, etc) should be invisible.
    Is this possible?

It should be doable, if is is possible to overrule the bootstrap acl file can be overruled / extended, or something like this via ACL security settings.
    See http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28369/xdb21sec.htm#g1040139

  • Server Maintenance and Public Folders

I have 4 Exchange 2010 server.  Two mailbox and two CAS.
Here is my scenario:  when i have all my stores and databases on mailbox server 1 so i can reboot mailbox server 2, except one Public Folder database, access from Outlook to Exchange is disconnected.  Why is this?  My mail store and database
are mounted on the server that is up and running.  Any one that can shed light on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ray

Why is the first mailbox database not using the VIP-ca.domain.org RCA endpoint?
Is MailboxServer1 a mailbox database or is that the server name?
Just because you have this configured on Exchange does not mean Outlook is using it.  based on what I see above I'm assuming databases were made before the CASArray was made.
Open up Outlook and repair the profile ( or create a brand new profile), do you have the same behaviour??
